Milton finch pov
He'd been planning a "trip" for a while now and was leaving his wife and kid, Monroe, alone for a few weeks. Where he hadn't told them however was his plan to create something to make life easier for at least one of his other family members. He hadn't seen any of them in years due to him having ran away to his own reality. However this wouldn't be a normal show, it would be something he'd heard of a while back called an object show. He had waited until his sister, Edith, had met her untimely demise but now was the perfect time to start his show. He said some goodbyes before quickly painting a door and stepping inside, bowing to the two before closing it behind him.
Edith finch pov
She hadn't been dead for long, having talked to Lewis and the others for maybe 5 minutes before their surroundings suddenly changed to a nice day outside, and it seemed like the woods near the finch household. However that's not what catches her attention as she stands up. Everyone looked like living objects, and looked equally confused as her. Some of the objects felt like cruel jokes to who they represented, like Lewis being a thing of canned fish or Molly being a Holly branch. However there was also an extra person, who she didn't immediately recognize. They were a paintbrush with black ink smearing most of their bristles. However, as soon as he spoke, Edith almost felt her heart stop.
"Oh my god it actually worked" their eyes shone, clearly excited
Lewis looked at Edith, basically confirming her suspicions about who this was. "Milton?!" She hesitated slightly saying his name.
"The one and only" Milton bowed to her, smiling. The crown he was wearing looked like it would've fallen over before she realized it was floating and not actually on his head.
Before Milton could explain more both Edith and Lewis ran forwards, embracing their long lost brother.
"How are you here? And how come you weren't with the rest of us when we died?" Lewis kept hugging him, Milton now reciprocating the hugs from his siblings.
"Well you never found my body did you?" Milton pointed out "I left, I was terrified of the curse" he admitted.
Edith put her head on Milton's shoulder (kinda? Hard to tell when everyone was an object), comforted by the fact he was okay. His cape thing was surprisingly soft "I'm glad your okay"
"I'm glad to see you all again" Milton agreed, looking at the others too. "But I'm not just here for a reunion" he stood up straighter, dusting off his cape before addressing all of them "I'd like to start a contest, one of you, if willing to participate in my competition, will get another chance at living a curse free life" he seemed proud of his idea
