Malfoy Manor. You still think it’s weird to be here every time you come. Nowadays it’s Draco’s, Astoria’s, and Scorpius’ home, but there was a time (not that long ago) that your wife lived here when she was married to Lucius. This place had been her home for more than 20 years, you’re sure it must still bring back so many memories...
This was the place that (according to her) she lost her virginity in, the place where she spent her entire pregnancy in, the place she gave birth, where she raised her only son with Lucius. It’s also the place where she had several miscarriages, where she cried and grieved during all of them, where she mourned her inability to have more children and where she longed to be a mum again, to have a daughter.
How ironic is that after all this time, here you two are, a few months from having your baby girl, your little Carina, who’s safe and comfortable in your womb right now.
It’s a beautiful sunny day, the perfect day to have lunch in the huge garden that until a few years ago was Narcissa the one responsible to tend it and now that responsibility was passed to Astoria, who coincidentally shares the same interest in gardening as your wife.
So here you all are right now: sitting at the table outside right after lunch. Scorpius, who’s about eight months old, is peacefully sleeping on his father’s lap while Draco, Astoria, Narcissa and you happily chat.
Your wife smiles softly as she looks at you, her eyes sparkling with a mixture of worry and excitement. “How are you feeling, darling? Is our baby giving you any trouble?”
She reaches across the table and gently takes your hand in hers, her touch warm and reassuring.
You take a sip of your pumpkin juice before answering her question. "I'm feeling alright, just a bit tired. Our little one is being quite active today, though. Kicking and moving around quite a lot.”
Narcissa’s smile softens, understanding the feeling of being exhausted from carrying a child. She gives your hand a gentle squeeze.
“I can only imagine. Growing a life inside of you is no easy feat.”
Astoria, who's sitting next to her, chuckles softly. "I can attest to that. When Scorpius was inside me, it felt like I was carrying a football team."
Your wife nods in agreement, chuckling softly at Astoria’s remark. “Indeed, my dear. But it's all worth it in the end."
She glances at your baby bump, her expression filled with tenderness. You all stay in a comfortable silence observing the nature around you.
As your hand rests on your bump, you suddenly feel a soft kick against your skin, making you gasp. It wasn’t the first time she kicked, you can feel Carina moving inside you for a while now, but it’s the first time you can feel it with your own hand.
Narcissa's eyes widen. “Darling, what is it? Are you alright?”
She looks at you with concern, her maternal instincts immediately on alert.
You gently place your hand where you felt the kick, as if trying to confirm what you just experienced. "I... I felt Carina kicking."
You look up at Narcissa, a mix of wonder and excitement in your eyes. "This is the first time I could feel her with my hand. It's such a strange and wonderful feeling."
Tears well up in your wife’s eyes, her heart swelling with a mixture of joy and awe. Of course she technically knew the sensation of feeling a baby kick from inside, she had been pregnant before, she obviously knows the feeling. However, she had been waiting eagerly to feel Carina kick, longing to share this incredible experience with you.
"May I...?"
She reaches out her hand, her voice slightly trembling with anticipation. It’s so cute how your wife still gets shy about this. Narcissa knows she always has your consent for touching you, caressing your bump, but she’s always timid to do so, especially around other people (and when you are awake).
You nod, a soft smile on your lips. You gently guide her hand to the spot where the baby kicked, your own hand still resting on your belly.
"Just wait a moment. I think she’s quite active right now."
Her hand trembles slightly as it makes contact with your belly. She holds her breath, hoping to feel the same magical movement. Then, like a gentle nudge, the baby kicks against Narcissa's hand, causing her breath to hitch in her throat.
"Oh, Merlin…"
More tears stream down Narcissa’s cheeks as she feels Carina’s kick, her heart bursting with love and a profound sense of awe.
"It's incredible... I can feel her. Our little girl is already showing us her strength."
She gazes at you, her eyes filled with a mixture of joy and wonder.
Draco and Astoria exchange knowing smiles as they watch the beautiful moment unfolding between you and Narcissa.
Draco, trying to hold back his emotions, clears his throat gently, his voice filled with tenderness. "Seems like my little sister is a feisty one already."
Narcissa chuckles softly, her eyes never leaving your belly where her hand still rests. She looks at Draco, a tear rolling down her cheek.
"Indeed, she is. Just like her mother." she looks back at you, her eyes sparkling with a mixture of love and pride. "We're blessed with a feisty little girl, darling."
