Chapter Text

Meta Knight was carrying Kirby, running as fast as the wind would take him. The two had been seen, and were being chased by some of Dreamland and Haltman’s military force - Kirby was almost immediately recognised by the dreamlanders, and Haltmann’s robots recognised and identified Meta Knight. Kirby was fast asleep, the stars high in the sky and the moon illuminating the forest Meta Knight had ran into.

Just as Meta Knight thought he was safe, a booming voice came from seemingly nowhere.

“Who dares enter my woods?” The voice asked, Meta Knight looking around and wielding Galaxia. Kirby was gently placed down onto a bed of roses, illuminated by the moonlight, and Meta Knight started looking for the voice.

“I didn’t mean to enter your woods,” Meta Knight grumbled as he found the source of the voice. It was a tree with a face, one Meta Knight recognised as Whispy Woods. Back when Meta Knight worked with Dedede to protect the pieces of the Star Rod, the two didn’t have the most friendly demeanour with each other. “You’re always so pissy about that,” He muttered under his breath.

Before long, Whispy and Meta were fighting. The two were never fond of each other, and were both playing dirty - Meta Knight was using the ancient powers Galaxia held, and Whispy was trying to trip him up on his roots. The fight was messy and brutal, both fighters trying to kill. Upon Whispy Wood’s defeat, Meta Knight walked away coldly. He had no time to deal with this, he had to grab Kirby and go- what !? When Meta Knight went back to Kirby, the boy was gone!

Blade Knight was desperately trying to open the window of their room, but it wasn’t budging. Sword was watching him, sipping some hot chocolate he’d gotten from the kitchen for the duo in a casual manner. Blade was trying to pry the window open with his sword, despite Sword Knight insisting that they could just walk out the front gate.

“Your hot chocolate’s gonna get cold,” Sword commented, making Blade huff.

“I can live with that.” Blade stated, continuing to fight the stubborn window.

Just as Sword’s sword flung in the air, there was a knock on the door. The sword lodged itself into the door right as it was opened, the person entering jumping in shock.

The person coming to visit Sword and Blade was their ex-best friend, Sir Kibble. “Woah! I didn’t know you stole my schtick, Blade.” They joked, chuckling. Sword greeted them happily.

“Kibble, just the man I wanted to see!” Sword exclaimed, wrapping an arm around Sir Kibble’s pauldrons.

“Sword!” Sir Kibble laughed, putting a hand on Sword’s back. Blade was quickly added into the group hug. “Dear Nova I missed you guys. Dreamland’s guard is so lazy without y’all!” They exclaimed.

“We didn’t mean to be gone for so long,” Blade replied, rubbing the back of his head awkwardly. “We were on an important mission, though.”

Sir Kibble started leading the two out of their room. “Well, why don’t we discuss it over some drinks?” They asked. Sword and Blade nodded in agreement.

Despite the late hour, Trident Knight was still moving. He was using the cover of nightfall to get through the more densely populated areas, knowing just how much the people of Dreamland valued their rest. He was currently dodging machinery in a barren patch of land, avoiding turning anything on. He seemed to be in a mining field made by Haltmann, though that theory was just a pile of rubble.

Trident chuckled to himself at the joke. He  was a pretty funny dude, what would the Meta-Knights do without him?

Kirby was wandering around, sleepy. He was in a garden of some sort, illuminated by bright stars and moonlight. The brick pathways were a washed tan, and there were rows of flower beds in front of a set of trellis’s growing various plants. It looked a lot like Floria, though it was a lot less dense. Seeing two people in front of him, Kirby hid behind a row of lilies.

“Did you hear the news, my queen?” Taranza asked, holding one of his wife’s hands. The two were visiting Dreamland for a holiday, but recently got news that Dreamland was getting a visit from some old invaders.

Sectonia nodded, gently grasping a flower. “I was told by Messenger Dee. I’ve heard rumours that it’s the Meta-Knights,” She said calmly, looking up at the three moons above them.

“The Meta-Knights!?” Taranza gasped, shocked. “No way, my love. I haven’t seen any traces of Dark Matter anywhere,” Taranza huffed, twirling his hair nervously. He knew of the Meta-Knights quite well, they helped out Floria a couple months back.

Sectonia chuckled. “Maybe it’s hiding.” She hummed. Just as she said that, a little pink critter rolled out of a nearby bush. Sectonia and Taranza both gasped, looking at the tiny thing.

“Well, what do we have here?” Taranza asked, floating over to Kirby and picking him up. Kirby smiled, waving. “A little Kirby!”

“Haiii,” Kirby greeted, pointing at Taranza. “Tarnza,” They giggled. Sectonia floated over to the two.

“Hello, Kirby.” Sectonia greeted, patting Kirby’s head. “What’re you doing in Dreamland, sweetie?” She asked.

Dreamland… is that where he was? The name rang a bell to Kirby. It reminded him of cakes and long naps. “Crash,” Kirby explained, confusing both Sectonia and Taranza.

“The Halberd crashed?” Taranza asked, tilting his head. Kirby nodded with a yawn.

Taranza and Sectionia shared a look. The people of Dreamland were good people, they could probably help. Taranza tucked Kirby into his messenger bag, leaving the matterborn’s head poking out.

“You can come with us, then. We can get you some help.” Sectonia commented, making Kirby squeal in excitement.

Javelin Knight and Mace Knight had stumbled across each other while Javelin was looking for an exit to the cave. They had hunkered down for the night, and a small fire was going to illuminate their makeshift campsite. Mace was almost asleep, and Javelin was scanning and identifying all his treasures. He’d definitely pawn these off and get some upgrades once the group got off this planet.

Sailor was fast asleep, laying on a couch that Captain Vul managed to salvage from the wreckage of the Halberd. Just as Axe Knight was preparing to go out and look for Sir Meta Knight, the man flew through a hole in the roof. He stabbed the floor in anger, absolutely seething.

“Axe, we’re going on an expedition to look for our comrades,” Meta Knight growled, making Axe Knight jump at his sudden appearance. “Vul, try to track Javelin with the tracker in his helmet. We’ll go to his coordinates at dawn,” Meta Knight ordered.

Captain Vul nodded, doing a quick salute. “On it, Sir!” He exclaimed, hurrying to the captain’s area. Axe Knight followed Meta Knight out the front door, wielding his weapon just in case.
