Chapter Text
You ok?
Yeah. They took the boys out when they reset it.
Oh god.
I puked when they set my ankle.
Crushed the orderly’s hand.
I could have gone.
If you wanted.
Good grip :).
Tiff hesitated, unsure why he would need, or want, to be there.
Not necessary.
And you must have a job.
I do. A lot of hours.

Chad came home late, melancholy and smelling of alcohol. He took the cold plate out of her hands and drew her into an embrace. Kissing her forehead, he pulled back and traced the chunky marker-scrawled hearts on her cast.
“I'm so sorry. I love you so damned much. I … I didn’t mean for you to fall. I never meant…”
There were only 7 stairs to the basement. Her arm took the brunt of it. She lay a long time on the cement floor staring up at the tiny, bright square of the hallway window. Trying to breathe. To convince herself to get up.
How does she die?
His fingers played affectionately with her hair and she leaned into it despite the cold settling in her stomach. “It's okay.”
The woman always dies.
