Chapter Text
“You’re good, Masquerade, but you can’t win every time” said David.
David then placed Leonidas on his shoulder and Masquerade did the same thing with Hydranoid.
“Sure, we might have lost this time, but Hydranoid and I have learned a lot of interesting things about you and your partner” said Masquerade.
“You’ve won this battle, Leonidas, but next time you won’t be so lucky” said Hydranoid.
“Keep dreaming” said Leonidas.
“Now that I’ve battled with you, however, I now know what makes you so different from every other bakugan I’ve sent to the Doom Dimension. You’re from there” said Hydranoid.
Shun, Julie, Skyress and Gorem were taken aback.
“I thought I sensed a familiar darkness within you during our battle and I should know it, I’ve been sending bakugan there for quite some time now” said Hydranoid.
“Is that true” Skyress asked.
“You and I have darkness within us, Leonidas, a darkness that wants to crush those beneath us” said Hydranoid.
“I’d never do anything like that! I’m nothing like you! Not now, not ever” said Leonidas.
“Yeah, Leo is nothing like you” said David.
“Think about it, Leonidas. Tell me your choice, the next time we battle” said Hydranoid.
He then closed as Masquerade grabbed him and teleported away.
“So, Leonidas was…” Shun was cut off.
“Born in the Doom Dimension” said Julie.
“Yeah, it’s something we were gonna reveal later but…looks like Hydranoid beat us to it” said David.
“As crazy as it sounds, it’s true. I was born from the remaining energy of the bakugan trapped in the Doom Dimension. After that, all I remember is waking up on Earth where David found me” said Leonidas.
Shun looked at David.
“And you knew all along” he said.
“Since the beginning, yeah. We’re partners and we look out for each other, no matter what” said David.
Julie and Shun both smiled.
“Do the others know” Julie asked.
“Yeah, we told them the other day when we met them” David replied.
“And how did they take it” Shun asked.
“They found it to be amazing” said David.
“It is indeed amazing. A bakugan born in the place where bakugan meet their end” said Skyress.
“All you remember is that you were born and then waking up on Earth” Gorem asked.
“Yes, that’s it. After a little while, David found me and we became partners” Leonidas replied.
“Even though you were born in the Doom Dimension, you’ve more than earned our trust and respect, Leonidas” said Skyress.
“Thank you. It…means a lot” said Leonidas.
Later…
The others were chatting online, David, Shun and Julie telling them about their run in with Masquerade and how they beat him and Hydranoid.
“You fought Masquerade and Hydranoid and won? Are you serious” Dan asked them.
“Yeah, it was…a tough and stressful fight, but we did it” David replied.
“Way to go” said Marucho.
“Good job you two” said Runo.
“Thanks, guys. Although…” David stopped talking
The other brawlers stopped as well when they saw that he suddenly had a serious look on his face.
“What Masquerade said in the end, about learning a lot of interesting things about me and Leo. It has me thinking” he said.
“About what” Julie asked him.
“It might be me just being paranoid, but…I think Masquerade and Hydranoid went easy on us” he replied.
That got all the brawlers attention.
“You think they might have gone easy on you to test you out and see what you can do” Marucho asked him.
“Yeah, that’s a possibility. Ever since he showed up, Masquerade hasn’t lost a single 1 on 1 battle and all of a sudden, he loses for the first time and that easily? It doesn’t add up” he replied.
“We’ll definitely be dealing with him again, cause that definitely won’t be the last we’ll see of him. That’s for sure” said Dan.
“Yeah, we definitely haven’t seen the last of him, BUT, next time, we’ll all be ready to take him down for good and make sure no other bakugan gets sent to the Doom Dimension ever again” said David.
“You said it” said Dan.
“That’s right” said Shun.
“Yeah” said Runo, Marucho and Julie in unison.
They all chatted for a while before logging off.
Meanwhile in Vestroia...
Naga was in the Silent Core, talking to Hal-G and Masquerade.
“Well” Naga asked.
“Your suspicions were correct, Naga. Leonidas is, in fact, from the Doom Dimension” Masquerade replied.
“How is that possible” Hal-G asked.
“I don’t know. It would seem that we have…an anomaly in our midst” Naga replied.
“How should we deal with it” Masquerade asked him.
“Has Hydranoid tried to convince him to join us” he asked him.
“Yes, it didn’t work” Masquerade replied.
“Then it’s quite simple, Masquerade – once Hydranoid evolves, send that anomaly back to the Doom Dimension where it came from” said Naga.
“Ha! Consider it done” said Masquerade.
Meanwhile in the Doom Dimension…
A small ball of the light emerged from the fossil of a fallen bakugan and flew up high into the air, quickly joined by more. They all combined to form one big purple sphere which continued to expand, glow bright and emit purple electrical arcs. Then…
BOOM!
The ball of energy exploded, revealing the shadowy silhouette of a winged dragon that resembled Leonidas, only more…feminine. It let out a more feminine roar and launched itself into the sky above, flying into a portal and leaving the Doom Dimension, disappearing to who knows where.
