Sugar Mommy

Summary:

You're on a date with Narcissa when she goes to the bathroom and hears some gossiping about your relationship, making her feel insecure thinking you might be using her.

Work Text:

Narcissa has been waiting all week for her date with you. You two have agreed to go to a fancy restaurant in the wizarding community (or course it was your girlfriend’s choice).

Right on time, Narcissa apparates right outside the restaurant and walks in the door. She is wearing a black dress, a tight fitting one and killer heeled shoes. She looks around the restaurant for you, and when she spots you, a smile appears on her face as she walks over to you.

“Hello, darling.” she greets you with a kiss on your cheek.

You blush slightly, seeing her eyes looking you up and down, checking you out.

“Hi, Cissy.” you respond.

Narcissa grins, her hand resting on your cheek.

“You look absolutely gorgeous.” she says, her eyes still looking you up and down and taking all of you in before sitting down across from you.

You blush again at her comment, still feeling shy around the older woman. “You look stunning as well.”

A waiter walks over to the table and asks if you were ready to order drinks and/or your meal.

Narcissa orders you both expensive dishes and wine. The waiter nods and walks away. When he’s out of earshot, Narcissa reaches out and grabs your hand, intertwining it with her own on top of the table. Soon enough the waiter comes back with the wine. Your girlfriend continues to caress your hand with her thumb, smiling at you the whole time as she takes the occasional sip of her wine.

“How was your week?” she asks, taking a sip of the wine.

You sigh tiredly before you speak.

“I’m exhausted. The Holyhead Harpies are killing me with these new training sessions.” you admit, taking a sip of your own wine.

Narcissa squeezes your hand, continuing her thumb movement, massaging it.

“I’m sorry, baby. I know they’re working you hard, but I’m sure you’re doing an amazing job.” she reassures you.

You smile at her, she has always been so supportive of your career since the two of you met for the first time.

“Thank you, I’m quite excited for the next game. You’re coming to see me play right?” you ask.

She nods and answers in a sweet, loving tone. “Of course, love. I’ll be right there in the front row.”

The waiter comes back and the food is set down in front of you, making Narcissa let go of your hand. When the waiter leaves, she reaches over to pour herself another glass of wine.

“Thank Merlin. I’m starving.” you sigh in relief.

She smiles at you as she starts cutting her food.

“Good. I’m paying for the food so you better be hungry.” she teases.

You blush again when she says this and change the subject. “Enough about me, Cissy. How was your week?”

She notices you blushing and smirks slightly. She takes another sip of her wine before she answers.

“It was good. I spent a lot of time helping Draco study for his upcoming exams.” she pauses to take a bite of the food and continues after she’s done. “He’s doing quite well.”

You continue to play with the food on your plate as you listen to her, interested in hearing about her life. “I’m glad he’s doing well. You’re a really good mum.”

Narcissa looks away for a second as you compliment her, a slight blush creeping on her cheeks. She’s always had a soft spot whenever someone complimented her mothering skills.

“Oh. Thank you.” she smiles shyly before looking back at you.

You smile, thinking of how cute she looks when she blushes. Narcissa is usually the confident one, so it is nice to see her getting flustered.

“Try this, it’s very good.” you say, bringing a bit of your dish to her mouth with your fork.

Your girlfriend opens her mouth, as she lets you feed her the food. She closes her eyes and hums in agreement after she’s done.

“Mhm, very good.” she says, smiling at you.

You grin, enjoying seeing her so relaxed and at ease. You open your mouth, as she feeds you a bite of her food with her fork. You chew a few times before swallowing and nodding.

“Mhm, delicious.”

A while later you both finish your food, sipping on the wine occasionally while talking about your plans for the upcoming week. Narcissa listens intently, giving you all of her attention and nodding along with the conversation.

She smiles at you before excusing herself, saying she’ll be right back. After she’s left, a few heads turn to look over at your table, some looks are from older women. You catch one or two of them giving you dirty looks as they whisper among themselves.

Narcissa stands by the sink, fixing her hair up in the mirror as she washes her hands, when she hears the whispers of the other women that are in the bathroom. She frowns as she recognizes that the whispers and gossip are about the two of you, which doesn’t surprise her. As a former Black family member and the ex-wife of a Malfoy, people had always gossiped about her and her family, but now, some are gossiping about you and your relationship.

“What do you think about Narcissa Black and Y/N Y/L/N?”

“What do I think? Their relationship is absolutely ridiculous. I mean… look at her.”

“Oh yeah. She’s barely out of her teens and now she’s what? Dating one of the most powerful women in wizarding England, who is also 20 years her senior?”

“I know right. It’s like she’s using her as a sugar mommy.”

The three women continue their gossip and judgment of your relationship. Narcissa frowns to herself slightly, feeling a pinch of insecurity now, she starts to question internally if you were using her, just like the women are saying. She sighs quietly and then makes her way out of the bathroom and back to the table where you are.

When she returns to the table she takes her seat, putting on a neutral expression. The interaction she heard in the bathroom is not visible on her face and she smiles at you as she sits down.

“Miss me, darling?” she jokes, but her smile feels a bit off, almost forced.

You smile back, but something doesn’t feel right. Narcissa’s smile isn’t as natural and cheerful as it usually is. You can sense there’s something off, even though you don’t know what it might be.

“Yeah, I did,” you answer, a sense of unease creeping in, seeing her off mood. “Is everything alright, Cissy?”

Narcissa nods in response to your question, giving you another smile.

”Yes. Everything’s fine. Everything’s perfect.” she answers a bit too quickly and takes a sip of her wine.

You’re not convinced by her answer and feel that she’s hiding something, but you don’t push it, and keep quiet.

When the waiter comes to your table, you both decline dessert, and you look at Narcissa. She is avoiding eye contact with you, something that worries you even more, since it’s not like her to not look into your eyes. The waiter nods and walks away, and you try to find something to say, but the silence of the table is deafening and awkward.

“How about we get out of here?” she suggests, looking calm and relaxed, as if trying to hide the inner turmoil and thoughts that are running through her head currently.

You nod and agree to leave. You’d much rather confront her at her house anyway, where there’s not as many eyes and ears. Narcissa pays for the check and stands up and then offers you her arm to hold on to.

Once outside the restaurant, Narcissa apparates both of you to the entrance of her house. She lets go of your arm and opens the door to the house, holding it open for you to get inside. A tension filled the air already, she is too quiet. You get inside the house and once the door is shut behind you both, you turn to face her.

“Alright, what’s going on?” you ask, getting straight to the point.

Your girlfriend sighs, leaning against the door, avoiding eye contact again. She takes a deep breath, gathering her thoughts.

“How much do you know about the term sugar mommy?” she asks, finally locking her eyes into yours, her voice is slightly strained and her expression is unreadable.

You raise an eyebrow, caught off guard by her question.

“Uh… I’ve heard of it. It’s basically an older woman who financially supports a younger partner.” you’re confused as to why that is relevant right now and why she’s asking.

Narcissa crosses her arms over her chest and leans against the door, looking away.

"Right." she says, her tone flat. "I've heard a few women in the bathroom making some assumptions about our relationship.”

She pauses and looks up at you.

"They were essentially calling you a gold digger, using me for my money." she continues, her voice strained.

Your eyes widen in shock as she tells you what she heard in the bathroom. You're speechless. The last thing you expected was for someone to call you a gold digger, after everything you two went through to be together. But you're mostly concerned by the fact that Narcissa believed them.

You step closer to her, your expression filled with disbelief. “You don’t seriously believe that, do you?”

She shrugs, not making eye contact, her emotions bubbling up. "Why wouldn't I? I'm almost twice your age, I’ve been married, I have a child, I have money. You're in your 20s, and you’re beautiful, you could have anyone you want."

Your heart sinks hearing that. You close the gap between you and reach out, gently holding her chin to make her look at you.

“You really think I’m with you for your money, Cissy?” there's a hint of hurt in your voice as you ask.

Narcissa closes her eyes for a moment, swallowing hard. When she looks at you again, her eyes are glossy.

"What am I supposed to think, love?" she whispers, her voice slightly trembling. "I’m old, divorced, a mother. I’m not exactly the epitome of what a young, beautiful woman like you would want."

Your heart aches as you hear the genuine insecurity and pain in her voice. You move closer, your hands gently tracing her face as you speak.

"I don't care that you're older, Cissy. I don't care that you're a mother. I don't care that you’re divorced."

You pause to look into her eyes, making sure she's listening.

"You know what I care about? I care about you. I love you. I'm with you because I am in love with you. Not because of your money or power." this is the first time you tell her the three magic words.

Tears well up in Narcissa's eyes as she listens to you speak. The honesty in your voice, the genuine love and care you have for her, it’s more than she could’ve ever asked for. She swallows back a sob and closes her eyes, pressing her forehead against yours.

"You love me?" she whispers, her voice shaky.

You smile softly, your hands gently cupping her face, thumbs gently brushing away tears that are slowly escaping the corners of her eyes.

"Yes, I love you. I’m in love with you, Cissy." you say, gazing into her eyes, hoping that she'll finally see how genuine your feelings are.

Narcissa lets out a small sob, the emotion of your declaration overwhelming her. She opens her eyes, her tears falling freely now.

"You really mean it?" she whispers, her question coming out as more of a plea, a desperate need for reassurance, for your love.

You bring her even closer to you, one hand moving to the back of her neck, as you hold her gaze. Your voice is gentle but firm when you answer her question.

"I have never been more serious about anything in my life."

You pause and your own eyes get watery now, the depth of your love for her, clear in your gaze.

“I love you, Narcissa. With all of my heart and soul.”

Your words are like a balm to Narcissa's soul, soothing her insecurities and doubts. She clings onto you, her arms tightly wrapped around your waist.

"I love you too. So much." she chokes out between sobs, burying her face in your neck. "I’m sorry… I’m sorry for doubting you. I shouldn’t have let those women get into my head.”

You hold her close, your arms wrapping around her as she apologizes, rocking her gently, providing comfort and reassurance that you’re not going anywhere.

"Shhh it’s okay, Cissy. I understand why you felt that way." you soothe her, placing a soft kiss on the top of her head, your arms tight around her. “Just remember I love you no matter what other people say, okay? They don’t get to decide how we feel about each other.”

Your girlfriend nods against your shoulder, her tears slowly subsiding. Your words and the soothing of your embrace eases her mind, making her feel reassured and loved. She sniffles a few times before pulling away just enough to look at you.

"I won't let other people get into my head again. I trust you, darling." she says, her hands coming up to cup your face, her thumbs gently caressing your cheeks.

You smile at her words, grateful that she’s trusting you again.

“Good. Because like I said, I love you. And you’re stuck with me now.” you tease her gently, your own hands resting on her waist, thumbs drawing small circles on the soft fabric of her dress.

Narcissa chuckles lightly, the sound music to your ears. She leans into your touch, the warmth and comfort of your presence grounding her.

"Oh, what a horror that would be, being stuck with a beautiful young witch who loves me." she mocks sarcastically, her expression full of affection as she gazes into your eyes.

You laugh at her sarcastic remark, your heart fluttering at the affection in her gaze.

"I know, the absolute worst." you joke back, your hands moving up to her neck, fingers gently playing with the back of her hair.

"Whatever shall you do?" you ask, your mouths now inches apart, your eyes darting down to her lips.

Her lips curl into a small smirk as she notices your gaze shifting to her lips.

"Oh, I have a few things in mind." she says, before closing the gap between you, kissing you slow and soft, but full of passion and love.
