Chapter Text
Sitting on her bed, having changed after soccer practice into a black singlet and grey tracksuit pants, Ruby’s entire mind was focused on the woman in her arms. The mere glancing of Weiss’s hands over her bare arms and shoulders sent lightning shooting through Ruby.
The whole experience was addicting. Ruby had only kissed Weiss for the first time two days ago and already she never wanted to stop. The taste of Weiss’s lips, the feel of her hair, the way her body pressed against her own. All of it had become Ruby’s obsession. And if you asked her, Ruby wouldn’t have wanted it any other way.
Finally after who knows how long Weiss pulled away from Ruby. But even as she did, she had to avoid a lunge as Ruby’s lips tried to follow her own.
“Wait Ruby stop.” Pressing a single finger to Ruby’s lips Weiss snapped her girlfriend out of her unwilling-to-admit-was-love-fueled daze.
“Huh, what’s wrong? Did I do something?” sitting back on her legs, Ruby pulled away from Weiss and stared confused at her.
“No, of course not Ruby. It’s just you mentioned that you had a family dinner tonight and it was getting late. So I thought it best that we stopped. You need time to get back to your home after all.” Weiss rested her hand on Ruby’s cheek.
“Oh yeah…” Ruby’s cheeks bloomed with crimson as she almost subconsciously nuzzled into Weiss’s hand, “I forgot about that. I didn’t even realise it had been that long.”
Shaking her head softly Weiss smiled at Ruby, “You dolt.” Even though it sounded like an insult Weiss’s tone only held warmth and fondness, “What would you do without me? Anyway, I’ll get Klein to drive the two of us to your house and I’ll drop you off.”
“Oh ok.” Ruby gnawed at her lip as Weiss got up from her bed. Her eyes followed her girlfriend as she pulled Ruby’s jacket on, Ruby had thought about asking it back but the sight of Weiss in it was far too attractive to follow through on the idea.
“Well?” pulling her hair into her usual ponytail Weiss looked over her shoulder at Ruby with a smirk on her lips that should’ve been illegal. But it still got the job done as Ruby scrambled off of Weiss's bed to pull her sneakers back on.
“I’m coming!”
Weiss stared with a single raised eyebrow as Ruby hobbled over to her. She’d caught the back of her shoe when she put it on so it was now stuck rather uncomfortably in between her heel and her shoe.
“Are you alright?” Weiss’s eyes darted down to Ruby’s foot before jumping back up to Ruby’s eyes, the intended message clear. But Ruby was willing to ignore it.
“Yep I’m fine why wouldn’t I be?” Ruby stared with wide eyes at Weiss but said nothing else. Getting Ruby’s intended message Weiss just rolled her eyes with a shrug.
“Nothing.” turning from Ruby, Weiss led her girlfriend, ignoring how that thought still sent a jolt of excitement through her, out of her room and towards Klein and the car.
Ruby stared out the window of the limousine as it drove through the streets of Vale. She felt Weiss’s gaze as they drove and so she noticed when she looked away from her before she even spoke.
“Klein?” Pulling open the slit in the divider between where Weiss and Ruby were sitting with Klein, Weiss addressed her butler.
“Yes, Mistress?” Klein looked up into the rearview mirror and to Ruby’s surprise his eyes glowed with a faint crimson.
“Do we have any of the Winchester Vintage left?”
“I believe there is about a glass worth’s left yet Mistress.”
Making a sound of acknowledgement Weiss slammed shut the divider before reaching down into the fridge hidden in the limo. Pulling out what looked like the same green bottle she did that afternoon that felt so long ago but truly was only a few days ago.
“Would you like some Ruby? It’s not quite to your tastes I must assume but I should offer all the same. Oh and don’t worry it’s not alcoholic.” Weiss spoke up as she poured the bottle out into a glass she had seemingly pulled out from nowhere.
Ruby’s first impulse was to say no. But there was something in the back of her mind that made her ignore it. “Uh sure I guess.”
“Fantastic.” The smile that split Weiss’s face as Ruby said yes justified ignoring her first instinct, and Ruby felt the crimson in her cheeks as she took the glass Weiss offered her. “Here you are. Don’t drink it too fast, the taste is… an acquired one.”
Hesitant from Weiss’s words Ruby slowly lifted the glass to her lips before taking a small sip. The liquid burned with a holy flame as it filled Ruby. Her entire body felt like it was on fire and her mind was so fired up with adrenaline that conscious thought was beyond her. Burning energy burned through her veins and by the time she was cognizant again her glass was empty.
“Hmm… appears you enjoyed it then Ruby?” Weiss’s lips parted into a small smile, one that hinted something. But Ruby wasn’t cognisant enough to understand.
“Huh… what’d you say?” Ruby’s gaze was fuzzy as she stared with unblinking eyes at Weiss.
“Oh… wow… this is—this is impressive. You’re reacting like… no it couldn’t be.” staring contemplatively at Ruby Weiss pulled a bottle of water out of the side pocket and passed it over to Ruby, “Here. Drink up, this should help.”
Still out of it, Ruby took the bottle without saying anything and began to drink. The cool relief provided through the water spread through Ruby and slowly Ruby became cognizant of what was going on once more, which Weiss noticed.
“How’s that Ruby? Do you feel better now?” leaning forward slightly Weiss stared at Ruby with a look that was somewhere between curiosity, care and something else Ruby couldn’t quite place. Something ravenous. If Ruby was more cognizant she might have noticed that Weiss had begun to pant softly.
“Uh yeah, it is.”
“That’s good…” Peering over the rim of her own glass Weiss simply watched Ruby. The car fell into silence then, both women nursed their drinks as the car continued through the streets of Vale. In fact the two were still silent when the car slowed to a stop in front of Ruby’s home, an increasingly common act compared to a week ago.
“We have arrived mistress.” Sliding open the divider Klein looked at Weiss through the rearview mirror
“Thank you Klein.” meeting Klein’s gaze Weiss thanked her driver before turning to Ruby, “Well it seems we’ve arrived Ruby. I hope you have a good night.” leaning towards Ruby, Weiss pursed her lips expectantly.
“Uh… are you okay Weiss?” oblivious to Weiss’s intent Ruby stared with confused eyes however a moment after Ruby asked her question Weiss opened a single eye that glared scathingly at her. “Oh!” finally understanding Ruby darted forward and met the warmth of Weiss’s lips with her own.
Pulling back quickly Ruby smiled awkwardly at her girlfriend, “Sorry! Still getting used to this I guess. Thanks for the ride Klein. See you tomorrow Weiss!” darting forward a final time Ruby pressed her lips to Weiss’s cheek before darting out of the car.
Shocked by the suddenness of Ruby’s second kiss Weiss could only raise a hand to the warm patch on her cheek and smile softly. “Dolt…” with that single word muttered under Weiss’s breath, Klein started the car and drove them back to Weiss’s manor. Leaving Ruby alone with her family.
While it had originally been Ruby’s idea to invite Raven to have dinner with them, hopeful that she might possibly provide new insight into her mother. Ruby did not expect the silence the family was locked in for most of their meal.
Yang was absent as she had a preplanned date with Blake that night, meaning that it was just Ruby, her father, her uncle and Raven. Although this wasn’t completely out of nowhere, it wasn’t uncommon for dinners with Yang to be silent affairs. Ruby had hoped the introduction of Raven might have at least changed that.
At the very least the four were sitting together at the table eating a meal cooked by Taiyang. Honestly Ruby was rather surprised at that, usually if she hadn’t cooked someone would be picking up takeaway or some premade ready-to-cook meal.
But Taiyang had apparently spent all afternoon cooking according to Qrow. Which only made Ruby even more curious about who exactly Raven was to her dad. Because that sort of gesture implied a lot of different things. Although from the smell of him and how liberal he had been with his flask already Ruby wasn’t sure how much of what he said she could trust.
To make it even worse was Ruby’s frustration at how little the dinner was doing to enlighten her about how Raven fit into her family’s past. Instead, everyone else seemed… well not content but apathetic about eating in silence.
“So…” finally sick of the silence Ruby ventured the risk to say something, and as she did the eyes of the other three at the table turned to her, surprised by the sudden intensity of the attention Ruby took a moment to clear her throat, “Uhm how long have you known my dad Raven.”
“Oh well…” looking away from Ruby to Taiyang, Raven gnawed at her lower lip before replying “It’d have to be twenty-five years ago?”
Moving his fork through the food on his plate Taiyang nodded his head, “Yeah that’d be about right… Yang’s twenty-one and we knew each other for about four years before she was born.” the mention of Yang confused Ruby, why was she relevant to how long they’ve known each other. Ruby was so confused she missed how the mention drained the colour from Raven’s face.
“Well, we knew Summer for even longer than that didn’t we Raven?” staring down at his plate Qrow spoke up, ripping Ruby’s attention from the mention of Yang by the mention of her mother.
“Wait really? I didn’t know that Uncle Qrow, how long have you two known my mother?” Like a carnival clown, Ruby’s head spun back and forth between Qrow and Raven waiting for a response.
“Well… we grew up with her. The three of us didn’t meet Tai till high school but our families were close. Then we were in classes together all the way through school.” Raven’s eyes were distant as she answered the question like she wasn’t really at the dinner table anymore.
“Yeah, and you had a crush on her the whole time.” Qrow belched the words out, each syllable stinking of so much booze that Ruby missed the glares Raven and Taiyang sent him.
“Qrow.” Taiyang’s tone went full teacher mode as his glare softened ever so slightly. But Raven decided to go low with her response.
“What and you didn’t?” Raven stared daggers as her tone turned biting. And all Ruby could do was stare with wide eyes at Qrow and Raven as her carnival clown imitation returned. Matching Raven’s glare Qrow took a deep swig from his flask before he replied with something equally scathing.
“Well one of us ran out on here and the other was still here.” leaning back in his chair Qrow rested his booted feet on the table. As he did Ruby just stared in shock. While she would’ve liked to claim she had no clue what was going on there were some dots that were starting to connect in her head.
“Qrow!” Taiyang slammed his fists on the table as he jumped to his feet. Whereas Raven just glared at Qrow.
“Yoohoo! Big Summer Blowout!” everyone at the dinner table turned as they heard the front door open and Yang walk into the house. “Hellooo? Anyone home? Everything’s very quiet even for you guys having family dinner.”
As Yang continued calling into the house everyone else stayed silent. As if making a sound would cause something terrible to happen. It wasn’t until Yang turned the corner into the dining room with two finger guns up that she froze when she saw Raven.
Happy for the sudden interruption to the argument, Ruby jumped to her feet with a wide smile, “Yang!” Jolting forward Ruby wrapped her arms around Yang in a tight hug as the three adults stared at the two of them.
“Uh hi, Ruby. It’s good to see you too.” As she wrapped her prosthetic around Ruby’s shoulders in a one-armed hug, Yang’s vacant stare never left Raven. Just like Ruby had before, Yang had noticed how Raven‘s face was near identical to the one she saw in the mirror every morning.
But even so, she wasn’t willing to point it out. Because that sort of resemblance was something only family would have… so mentioning it felt like mentioning the small thoughts that had haunted her ever since she looked too closely at a picture of Summer and her dad next to one of Ruby. and she’d promised herself she’d never mention that in front of Ruby.
So instead of calling it out Yang just tilted her head into Ruby as she held her. Leaning into her sister Yang could just ignore it. Keep the questions buried where they couldn’t hurt anymore. But even so, she couldn’t help it as her eyes kept darting over to Raven.
“Hello Yang, how was your date?” finally looking away from Qrow and Raven’s scathing glares, Taiyang looked up and smiled at his eldest daughter, however, his face fell ever so slightly for an instant as he saw her eyes dart over to Raven.
“Uh yeah, it was fine. Blake’s doing good. We had fun driving around on Bumbleby.” Yang’s responses were curt as she tried desperately to keep her eyes from lingering for too long on Raven.
“Are you ok Yang? You’re being kind of weird? Did something happen with Blake?” pulling back from her sister Ruby looked up at Yang with a frown.
“Uhhh… yeah no what would be wrong Ruby?” letting go of Ruby Yang took a step back from her sister. “Although why don’t you let me talk to Dad for a minute? I have some stuff I need to talk to him about.”
“You do know I’m as much an adult as you are now Yang right?” crossing her arms Ruby glared up at Yang. but Yang just rubbed her hand into her head.
“Sure you are buddy. Now why don’t you go call your girlfriend or something.”
Slapping away Yang’s hand Ruby’s glare intensified, “Weiss isn’t my girlfriend Yang!” storming away from the dining table Ruby left what little was left of her dinner.
“Sure she’s not…” Rolling her eyes at Ruby’s exit Yang’s face turned stony as she spun to face the table. “Alright, now who the hell are you?” glaring at Raven Yang was only slightly offended that the other woman was too busy staring horrified after Ruby.
“Yang… this-this isn’t a simple—” jumping back up to his feet Taiyang held out a pleading hand to his daughter. “This isn’t something that’s easy to explain. Raven…” lost for words Taiyang looked over to Raven for help, but to his surprise, she was still staring horrified after Ruby.
“She—She’s not is she?” Eyes still manic Raven looked at the other adults, “The Schnee girl. I saw they were close in class but it looked more like the Schnee girl had some sort of crush and Ruby tolerated it. They aren’t dating are they?”
To Raven’s chagrin, however, all three adults were so surprised by the sudden topic shift that none of them could answer her. Instead simply staring with gaping mouths.
“Taiyang you have to tell me if you know. If Ruby is, her life’s in mortal danger.” Raven’s hands wrapped tightly around Taiyang’s arms, but when he just stared at her she spun to face Qrow, “Qrow that’s Summer’s daughter. That thing! It could kill her!” however Qrow reacted just like Taiyang did. He just stared.
And Raven didn’t get the chance to ask anything else as, almost to give her a taste of her own medicine Yang grabbed her roughly, “Shut up. Ruby’s love life is of no matter to you until you tell me who you are.”
As if a magic spell Yang’s rough treatment of Raven snapped Qrow and Taiyang out of their dazes, “Yang stop! That’s your—” mid-sentence Taiyang snapped his mouth closed as if he’d started to say something but realised he wasn’t willing to deal with the consequences of it.
“My what Dad? My Aunt? That’s what you told Ruby, wasn’t it? This is Qrow’s sister Raven isn’t it.” Yang looked at Qrow as she asked the question but when he just bowed his head she kept talking, “But that’s not who she is is it?”
Yang turned to Taiyang to ask this question. But just like Qrow, he seemed incapable of answering, “I’m not an idiot Dad. I’ve known Summer wasn’t my mum since fifth grade. I look nothing like either of you apart from your hair colour. Add to that the fact that Ruby looks more like Summer every year one of you couldn’t be my parent. I just have to admit I wasn’t expecting to get that confirmed by seeing my missing mother eating dinner with my family.”
Yang’s eyes seemed to turn crimson as she glared at the three other adults, “So what’s the excuse? Why did you skip out on twenty-one years of your kid’s life? Was it drugs? Too young? Booze? Can’t have been family since Qrow’s been here the entire time so why?” Yang felt the heat prick the corner of her eyes but she ignored it.
“YANG!” the sound of Qrow shouting shocked Yang enough that she let go of Raven and took a reflexive step backwards. “I think it’s best that everyone goes to bed and we discuss this tomorrow. You don’t have class in the morning, nor do the three of us. That will give time for tempers to cool and for any snoops to have to be elsewhere.”
All three adults heard feet scramble up the stairs at the overemphasized word, but none commented on it. In fact, none of them said anything for several minutes. In fact, nothing continued to be said as Yang, her nerves clearly frayed from the night’s events, just turned from the table and retreated to her room near the bottom of the stairs.
After Yang’s departure, the other three went their separate ways, still without a word said between them. Taiyang retreated to his bedroom while Qrow and Raven left the home
“ Weiss! Weiss! ” lying curled up on her bed, Ruby whisper yelled into her phone at her girlfriend.
“Yes, Ruby? Why are you whispering?” Weiss's voice sounded weirdly tired as she spoke through her phone’s speaker. But Ruby didn’t notice, her mind racing far too quickly over what she’d just overheard.
“ Because I can’t let anyone overhear me. Because I needed to ask you if you knew Miss Branwen before seeing her in class. ” Whispering the question to Weiss, Ruby waited with bated breath.
“No. Why are you asking? In class was the first time I had ever seen her.” Weiss’s tone was strange as she spoke through the phone. It sounded confused but there was something off about it—something Ruby couldn’t place.
“ Alright then… ” trailing off Ruby worried at her lower lip. However, the teen woman’s discomfort was audible enough that Weiss could hear it over the phone.
“Ruby? Is there something wrong?” Weiss’s tone shifted ever so slightly. It lost the strange edge to it and gained a note of worry. One that Ruby appreciated.
“ Not really… it’s just it turns out that Miss Branwen is my aunt and I overheard her make a comment about you and it, I dunno… almost sounded like she might’ve known what you are. ”
Ruby waited as she finished speaking. For what she wasn’t sure. But all she could do was listen to the sound of Weiss’s breathing on the other side of the phone. But eventually, Weiss did speak up.
“No Ruby I’ve never had any interactions with her before class. There’s nothing for you to worry about.” while Weiss’s words seemed off to Ruby, it didn’t seem like she was lying to her. Not that that was even something Ruby was focused on, the vast majority of her mental energy was devoted to replaying the argument she’d overheard in her mind.
The things Yang had been saying… the fact her dad never corrected it. That Qrow didn’t correct her, that even Raven didn’t correct her. It didn’t make sense to Ruby. However, the surprise of a sudden knock at her door made Ruby quickly hang up on Weiss as she was ripped out of her thoughts.
“Hey Ruby?” after a moment passed Yang’s surprisingly quiet voice floated through the door. “Are you awake?” Ruby didn’t dare say anything. Sure it seemed like she’d been caught listening to the conversation her family was having but if she could pretend to be asleep.. And Yang hadn’t heard her on the phone she might have been able to pull it off.
With startling speed Ruby threw up the covers of her bed, ducking beneath them as she heard the bedroom door slowly creak open. Clenching her eyes closed Ruby listened as the door creaked close.
But before she had the chance to relax Ruby heard the sound of Yang’s feet slowly pad across her bedroom floor. Feeling a weight settle at the far end of her bed Ruby tried desperately to keep her breath level, mimicking what she would sound like if she was actually asleep.
“Ah so we’re doing that are we?” biting down on her lower lip Ruby fought the urge to respond with a snark. “Whatever… I guess this can be a one-sided conversation. So uh… I guess you overheard what we were talking about… and yeah I’ve suspected for a while that Summer wasn’t my Mum. Dad’s still my dad, we’re still sisters and Mum still raised me, it’s just she didn’t give birth to me.”
As she lay there pretending to sleep and listening to her sister, Ruby could barely believe what she was hearing. Why would Yang even had considered she had a different mother to Summer? Sure if one of Yang’s parents was different to her own it would be Summer over Taiyang. But even so, why would she be considering something like that? Was this why Yang gave Ruby Summer’s old jacket? Because as much as she was currently saying otherwise Yang saw Ruby as Summer’s true child?
Eventually Ruby couldn’t hold back anymore and she found herself throwing her covers off of her, “What the hell are you talking about? How can you be so calm about this? You can’t seriously believe that Raven’s your mum!” Pausing for a moment Ruby’s face contorted as very visibly tried to find an explanation in her mind, “It’s obviously just a prank or something! Dad and Uncle Qrow knew I was listening so they tried to mess with me using you!”
Ruby’s breath was short as she stared with wide eyes at her sister, desperation clear in every crease of her face. But Yang’s response offered none of the relief she was looking for.
“Ruby… Really?” Yang's mouth twisted in a sardonic smile, “Are you really gonna try and tell me that’s a possibility? Dad’s trying to prank you by telling me my mother isn’t my mother?” Ruby squirmed under Yang’s gaze but said nothing, so Yang just let out a sigh, “Sure whatever. Look, Ruby, I’ve treated you the same way for the last decade, haven’t I? That’s how long I’ve suspected we had different mothers. This isn’t going to change anything. You really think I’d let some strange woman ditch me and Dad for twenty years and run back in like nothing happened?” Yang’s smile shifted into a smirk as she nudged Ruby with her elbow.
Ruby couldn’t help letting out a snort, “Yeah I guess not…” worrying her lower lip Ruby couldn’t help but sigh with a shrug as something else pricked in her mind, something she wasn’t sure she was willing to admit, “I’m sorry Yang… I dunno it feels weird. Like I get what you’re saying but it doesn’t make sense!” Ruby couldn’t help it as her voice increased in volume but Yang seemed to expect it as she only let out a disappointed sigh.
“Oh… you realised how the math lines up huh.” hanging her head Yang stared at her hands, “Well I don’t want to think dad cheated on any one, be it Raven or Summer… So I’m pretty sure it was just the same thing that was going on with you, Jaune and Pyrrha and Raven just couldn’t handle kids getting involved—”
Yang continued talking but Ruby had zoned out completely when her relationship with the two succubi was compared to her parent’s. Entirely unbidden Ruby’s mind was suddenly filled with mental images she couldn’t even describe and her entire stomach rolled with disgust. Desperate to think of anything else Ruby started mentally reciting all the factoids from Weiss’s brochure.
“—There are also other possible explanations for what happened. So really who knows what happened? I don’t really care and from the way Dad has never mentioned it, I doubt he’d ever want to have a conversation about it. Whatever it doesn’t matter.” bouncing to her feet, Yang got off Ruby’s bed with a small smile. “Anyway, I’ll let you go to sleep. Night Rubes.”
Ignorant of how Ruby was still struggling because of the mental images she had implanted in her mind, Yang left Ruby alone in her room. After a few more moments of reciting information from Weiss’s brochure, specifically, the images spawned by Weiss’s description of the connotations of a neck bite, Ruby was able to bleach her mind of the images Yang had cursed her with.
However, as she lay there Ruby couldn’t get to sleep. Lying there in her bed Ruby’s mind wouldn’t rest. Even though Yang’s words had helped soothe her mind Ruby needed to talk to someone. Someone else, that she’d been meaning to talk to before Yang walked into her room.
So grabbing her phone once more, Ruby tapped Weiss’s name and listened to the tone waiting for her to pick up. And to Ruby’s relief, it didn’t take long for Weiss to pick up.
“Are you ok Ruby? I must admit I was worried when you hung up so suddenly earlier.” Weiss’s voice crinkled through the speaker of Ruby’s phone, and much to Ruby’s glee the voice lacked any of the anger she was worried about.
“Yeah no I’m ok.” Whispering under her breath Ruby couldn’t help but smile at the care in Weiss’s tone, “I’m sorry about hanging up on you, Yang stormed into my room so I didn’t have time to say goodbye.”
“Aw, that’s cute Ruby. you didn’t need to worry about that. I had assumed something had come up. Not that I’m complaining about getting to hear your voice again tonight.” Ruby tried to fight the heat rising in her cheeks but there was little she could do to stop it.
“ Oh well, I like hearing your voice too Weiss. But uhm that’s not the only reason I was calling you. ” chewing the inside of her cheek Ruby waited as Weiss suddenly went quiet.
“Oh, Ruby’s getting sneaky. That’s very cute.” Weiss’s tone turned teasing over the phone line and Ruby couldn’t help smiling at it, “So what’s Ruby need from little ol’ me this late at night?”
“ Well I wanted to talk to you about this earlier but we got cut off before I could. ” going quiet, Ruby tried to think of a way to phrase what she wanted to say but struggled, “ Yang’s not my sister. ”
“What do you mean Ruby? Did you have a fight with her? Why are you saying she’s not your sister?” Hearing the confusion in Weiss’s tone, Ruby quickly expanded.
“ She’s my half-sister. Her mum isn’t Summer Rose, she’s Raven Branwen our new P.E. Teacher. ” Blurting out a rambling explanation, Ruby hoped it made sense as she waited for a response.
“Oh.” But that single word was all Weiss said.
“ Oh ?” Ruby’s tone was tense with confusion as she could only repeat Weiss’s response. Weiss’s single-word reply didn’t make sense. Sure Ruby hadn’t expected one as strong as hers was but at the same time, this seemed… lacking.
“Oh well, it’s just I had assumed you were aware of that already.” Weiss’s explanation made sense to Ruby. but even so, Ruby couldn’t help but feel hurt by the reveal. It was starting to seem that everyone other than her knew about Yang’s true parentage.
“I see.” Ruby wanted to say more but she couldn’t. She opened her mouth but thge words couldn’t, wouldn’t come out.
“Oh, Ruby. I’m sorry if I knew you didn’t know about it I would’ve told you. Or not acted so flippantly about it.” Ruby curled up under her blanket as Weiss’s words floated through the phone’s speaker. The apologetic tone didn’t help but it still made Ruby feel better. But even so Ruby couldn’t stop the yawn that forced its way out of her.
“Thanks, Weiss… I’ve had a long night so I think I need to turn in.” speaking through the yawn Ruby rested her head against her pillow.
“It’s all right Ruby. good night, I hope you sleep well.” however the end of Weiss’s response fell on deaf ears as Ruby snored through the phone. “Good night Ruby.” A sigh as quiet as a whisper floated through the speaker of Ruby’s phone, making the sleeping girl’s lips quirk in a small smile.
