Chapter Text
When Superman saw what Sivana was doing to Billy, he quickly tossed Lust at Wrath and superspeeded to Billy, while he threw Sivana backwards, before he untied Billy's arm and legs and took him away from there. As he flew, he quickly grabbed Freddy too, as Freddy had been waiting for Superman to come and find him as soon as he'd found Billy. And then he flew as fast as he could to the safest place he knew right now. The Watchtower. It couldn't be a safer place for Billy or any other people with superpowers. He carefully let down Freddy to his feet, before he carried Billy to the medical area.
Freddy was shocked when he saw the state Billy was in, as Superman carried him. His face was bruised, blood came out of his nose, mouth and a gash on the side of his head, dark bruises covered his ribs and other places on his upper body. But what shocked him the most, were the stab wounds on his chest and abdomen. Specially the large deep gash across his abdomen, that was still bleeding heavily. He watched Superman carefully laying him down on the examination table. "Is Billy even alive?" he asked worried, as he saw that Billy was still. Too still.
Superman turned to Freddy, "Yes. He's still alive. But he's seriously injured." before he turned towards a man coming in to the room. "Emil. We need some help over here." he told the man and pointed at Billy.
Professor Emil Hamilton immediately went over to Billy and examined his injuries. And he saw that it was bad. Very bad. Then he turned to Superman. "What happened?"
Freddy decided to answer before Superman had time to open his mouth. "He got kidnapped and tortured by an evil super villain with superpowers. And he had a bunch of scary looking monsters with him." Then he looked worried down at Billy. "Is he going to be okay?" he asked, as he had now idea if Billy could heal from the injuries, because they hadn't been able to test super healing, as Billy had seemed to be indestructible, when they had been experimenting with his superpowers. But now he would be able to see if Billy could heal rapidly from his injuries or not. So far it didn't look that way, as Billy was still bleeding heavily from his many wounds.
Emil looked briefly over to Freddy, before he looked back at Billy. "I don't know yet. I need to close his wounds, before I know more. And I probably need to give him blood that he's lost, before he loses too much. If that happens, there's not much I can do for him." Then he grabbed a needle and thread, before he started sewing the long deep gash in Billy's abdomen shut, as that looked to be the worst injury so far. It took a while to sew it shut, as it was very long and went almost the whole way from the left side of his abdomen to his right. "Jesus! They really wanted this guy dead." Emil thought quietly to himself. But he managed to sew the wound shut without complications. As he looked at the deep wound on the lower left side of Billy's abdomen, he suddenly got a bad feeling, so he turned to look at Superman. "Can you use your X-ray and see if he's missing his appendix?" he asked him.
Superman nodded, before he stepped next to Billy and X-rayed his abdomen. And he saw that Billy's appendix was gone, so he looked back up at Emil. "Yeah. His appendix is missing."
Emil nodded, "That's what I was afraid of." before he looked at Freddy. "Do you know if he still had an appendix before he was kidnapped?"
Freddy shrugged his shoulders. "I have no idea. Billy is a foster kid just like me and only moved in with my foster family a few weeks ago, so I don't really know anything about his life before that."
Emil looked surprised at that. "Kid? How old is he?"
"He's fourteen." Freddy told him, as he looked at Billy in his grown up body. "He doesn't look that way right now, does he?"
Emil shook his head, before he looked at Billy too. "No. He certainly doesn't. Has he always had these powers?" he asked, as he started closing up another of his wounds.
Freddy shook his head. "No. That started a few days ago. Before that, he was just a regular kid."
Emil nodded, before he went back to focus completely on sewing Billy's wounds, as he could ask more about Billy later, if he needed to know more of the powers Billy had. However, as of now, he didn't need to know more. He would never have known that Billy was a fourteen year old kid, if Freddy would never have told him, as Billy looked more like he was in his late 20s early 30s right now. But he pushed those thoughts out of his mind, as he sewed his many stab wounds shut. It took a while to close all the wounds, before he sighed in relief, when he was finally finished. Then he hooked Billy up to a heart monitor and pushed a needle into the crook of his arm and connected it to an IV that gave him fluids that he'd lost from the attack. He also hooked him up to a ventilator, that gave Billy extra oxygen. After that, Emil looked up at Superman and Freddy. "I've done everything I could now, so it's up to Billy if he'll get through this or not."
Superman shook Emil's hand. "Thanks for helping him out, even though we don't know him."
"It's just my job to save people, no matter who they are, so you don't need to thank me." Emil told Superman, before he turned around and started leaving the room. But before he left, he looked over his shoulder. "Just give me a shout, if there's a change."
Freddy watched Emil leave, before he looked back at Billy, who was still laying unconscious and still on the examination table. And he had tears in his eyes, as he walked over to Billy's side and sat down in the chair next to the table. He still couldn't believe Billy was in such a bad condition. It felt like a nightmare, as he looked at all of Billy's injuries. Even though his wounds had been covered up by bandages, he still looked rough, with the heart monitor and the IV hooked up to him. Although, he was glad that Billy had a nasal canula and not a breathing tube down his throat, as that would be a much worse sight than this. He'd seen patients with the breathing tubes down their throats, when he had been to hospitals before. And that had looked horrible, so he had never wanted to see something like that on his friends or family. But he was brought out of his thoughts, when he felt a comforting hand on his shoulder, so he looked up and saw Superman looking back at him.
"How are you doing, kid?" Superman asked and looked worried down at Freddy.
"Better now, when Billy isn't being tortured by that douchebag. But it'll be even better when Billy will wake up." Freddy looked at Billy once again and just watched him breathing. "And it's Freddy, by the way. My name. Not kid." he told Superman, without even looking away from Billy.
"Everything will be okay, Freddy. We'll take good care of your friend Billy. And I'll have someone to go and take care of that villain before he hurts anyone else." Superman told him, before he gently squeezed Freddy's shoulder and left the room.
Freddy didn't notice Superman leave, as he was completely focused on Billy. And he was feeling terrible about the whole thing, as the last time he'd talked to Billy, he had argued with him and said terrible things to him, that he didn't even mean. He just wanted to take everything he said back. If Billy woke up- "When!" Freddy thought to himself, he would apologize to Billy. Billy didn't deserve any of the shit he'd been through, so there would be one less thing to worry about, after Freddy apologized. As he sat there, waiting for Billy to wake up, his phone suddenly started ringing, so he picked it out of his pocket and saw on the ID that Victor was calling him. "Shit! I had totally forgot about them!" he thought to himself, as he just stared at the screen of his phone. "What am I supposed to tell them about Billy? And what the hell am I supposed to say about me and Billy being in Superman's lair, with Billy being a grown man and seriously injured?" The ringing soon stopped, so he sighed for now, as he had more time to come up with something before they rang him again. Although, all other thoughts except Billy, disappeared when he looked back at Billy's injured form.
------
A few hours later and many more missed calls from Victor and Rosa, Freddy was still sitting on the chair next to the table Billy was laying on. He hadn't strayed from Billy's side, as he wanted to be there, in case Billy woke up. During the hours they'd been there, several of the Justice League had been there to see who the two newcomers were. Normally, Freddy would have been over the moon to meet all the superheroes. But he'd barely noticed them, as his only focus was on waiting for Billy to wake up and heal from his injuries. It took a while, before he noticed that Billy had actually started moving his head a bit, so he leaned forward. "Billy? Are you awake?" he asked him quietly.
Billy let out a small groan of pain, as his body hurt and he tried to open his eyes. But he was confused, when his eyelids felt heavy and didn't want to open. And he was even more confused, when his whole body seemed to throb painfully. "What the hell happened?! And where the hell am I?" he thought quietly to himself, as he noticed he wasn't laying in his own bed. Then he suddenly noticed an annoying beeping sound next to him, so he just wanted to throw the beeping machine away from him, as it reminded him of an alarm clock. Although, he also noticed tubes and vires were attached to him, so he frowned. "Wait?! Am I in a hospital?!" he thought quietly to himself, when he suddenly realized the annoying beeping sound was from a heart monitor. He fought harder to open his eyes this time, before they finally fluttered open. However, the bright lights coming from the ceiling hurt his eyes, so he squeezed them back shut and let out a groan of pain.
Freddy was relieved at seeing Billy awake, so he let out a sigh. "Open your eyes, Billy."
Billy heard Freddy speaking to him, so he was worried that Freddy was hurt too and had ended up in the hospital as well. So with all the strength he had left, he opened his eyes and turned his head in Freddy's direction. "Are you okay, Freddy?" he asked him weakly.
Freddy snorted. "You're the one who got seriously injured. And you're asking me if I'm okay?" He would have laughed, if this hadn't been such a serious situation.
"What happened?" Billy asked, before he looked around in the room and noticed they were not in a hospital, as he had originally thought. "And where the hell are we?" He started to worry that they had both been kidnapped and being held by a mad man in his apartment.
"You got kidnapped and injured by an evil super villain and his monsters. But Superman found you and brought you here to his lair. Or the Watchtower, as everyone calls it." Freddy told him, as he looked around in the room as well and wondered if anyone would notice, if a device or two went missing.
Billy looked down at himself and saw the bandages wrapped around his left shoulder, chest and abdomen, before he remembered being kidnapped and tortured by Sivana and the Deadly Sins. He touched the bandages covering his abdomen, as he remembered Sivana cutting his appendix out. As if his wounds could read his mind, they started throbbing painfully, so Billy grimaced in pain and cluthed his belly.
"I'll go tell Emil that you're awake and in a desperate need of some morphine." Freddy told him, before he quickly left the room.
While Freddy was gone, Billy looked around in the room once more, as he had always wanted to visit the Watchtower, but never had the chance. Although, this was not quite how he had imagined himself ending up here, as he took in the various medical equipment hooked up to him, or the sharp pain shooting up and down his body, when he tried to sit up. "Okay. Bad idea. I shouldn't be moving around yet." he thought quietly to himself. Then he noticed the tube under his nose giving him oxygen and realized it was a nasal canula. "Was it that bad, that I needed extra oxygen?" he thought quietly to himself. However, he wasn't alone for very long, before Freddy and another man came into the room.
"Hello. I'm Professor Emil Hamilton and I'll be your doctor while you're recovering here. But you can call me Emil, like all the others here does. And your friend said you were in need of some morphine. Is that right?"
Billy nodded. "Yeah. My wounds are quite painful right now." he told Emil and grimaced in pain, as another sharp pain shot through his body when he tried to find a more comfortable position.
Emil walked over to Billy's side and slipped the needle of the syringe into the IV line, before he pressed the plunger, injecting the morphine into Billy's bloodstream. "You should start feeling better soon, as the morphine starts to take effect."
Billy nodded again. "Alright. Will I be okay?" he asked and looked worried, as he had no idea how bad his injuries were.
Emil laid a hand gently on his arm. "You'll be fine, as you woke pretty quickly after I closed your wounds." he said and smiled reassuringly at him.
"That's a relief." Billy smiled back, before he looked back down at his body. He was still in his grown-up superhero body, so he wondered how much faster he would heal than if he'd be in his normal teenage self. Then he looked back up at Emil. "How long do I need to stay here? I have to go back home, before Victor and Rosa starts to worry about me and Freddy."
"Too late. They've already called several times." Freddy told Billy, as he showed him his cell phone.
"What did they say?" Billy asked, as he wondered how worried they were, when either he or Freddy had returned home from school.
Freddy shrugged his shoulders. "I don't know. I haven't answered their calls yet."
Billy raised his eyebrows in surprise. "Why not?"
"What am I supposed to tell them? Hey Rosa and Victor. We're not coming home for a while, because an evil super villain kidnapped Billy and injured him. Oh. By the way. Billy is now a grown man with huge muscles and have superpowers. Are you freaking kidding me?!" Freddy told him.
Emil knew that this was a private conversation, so he quietly walked out of the room.
Billy nodded. "Yeah. You're right. We need to come up with some kind of plan, before we talk to Victor and Rosa." Then he turned towards Emil only to notice he was gone, so he turned back to Freddy. "When did he leave?" he asked confused.
Freddy just shrugged his shoulders again, as he looked in the direction where Emil had been just a moment ago, before he looked back at Billy. "I don't know and I don't really care. Maybe we could tell them we went out for ice cream after school."
Billy raised an eyebrow. "Really? Ice cream in December?" he asked, as he knew Victor and Rosa would never believe them.
"Yeah. You're right. They wouldn't believe us. Maybe we went out for some hot cocoa since it's so cold outside." Freddy said, as he couldn't come up with anything else at the moment.
"For this long?" Billy asked again.
"Then do you have a better idea?" Freddy asked, as he started feeling frustrated.
Billy thought for a moment, before he came up with something. "Maybe we went out to get them some Christmas presents, since it's so close to Christmas."
"Good idea. Then they'll leave us alone for a couple of hours, until we can come up with something else." Freddy said, as he started thinking about what they would come up with, when it's been a few hours after they'd told Rosa and Victor the first lie.
Billy was about to say something, when he suddenly let out a yawn. He hadn't noticed how exhausted he was , until now.
Freddy saw him yawning, so he smiled weakly. "Go back to sleep, Billy. I'll be here when you wake up."
Billy just nodded, before he closed his eyes and fell asleep almost immediately.
Freddy watched Billy sleep for a while, before he quietly left the room, to talk to the Justice League members who were at the Watchtower.
