Paper Flowers

Summary:

Anxiety makes a paper bouquet to give to Joy.

Work Text:

Anxiety sat in her massage chair as she had grabbed multiple pieces of paper before lots of colored paper with one big white paper piece. Anxiety carefully folded and glued and cut each piece of paper to make flower petals that she’d glue to make a flower then make stems and leaves and glue them on.

She made one flower after another, she got carried away and made twelve paper flowers, she then wrapped them up in tape to hold them together. Anxiety carefully wrapped the white piece of paper around the paper flowers as a small protective layer.

She debated on whether or not to do this but decided to do it anyway. She had always admired Joy and looked up to her was her number one fan but now Anxiety was writing a small love letter to put in her paper bouquet.

Anxiety tore a page out of her notebook and wrote a rushed but love-filled letter, she folded it carefully. Tucking it away in the freshly made bouquet. Anxiety grabbed the bouquet and slowly got off her chair. Finding Joy not at the control panel as she would usually be but at the windows looking down at all the islands.

Anxiety’s face lit up which was barely visible on her orange skin but she continued on slowly walking up to Joy.

“Joy?” Anxiety said, softly as to not startle her.

Joy turned around looking at Anxiety. “Hello, Anxiety.”

Anxiety chuckled nervously and held the bouquet out to Joy, her mind running millions of thoughts per minute more like seconds though of possible bad scenarios and rejection.

“I-I uh.. Made these for you.” Anxiety said, trembling.

Joy smiled warmly and gently took the bouquet from Anxiety’s hands. The contact made Anxiety feel all fuzzy and warm inside, making her face flush a deeper red.

“Why, thank you Anxiety.” Joy said, softly. “They are lovely, thank you for making them for me.”

“You’re-You’re welcome! Any time.” Anxiety stammered, bouncing on her heels.

Joy unexpectedly ran her fingers through Anxiety’s hair making Anxiety squeak, mainly in surprise. Before Joy had run off.

Anxiety didn’t expect Joy to find the note right away if at all but it was there, she poured her heart out. If Joy found it, Anxiety would deal with it then but now she just had to focus on her job right now, it is the middle of the day.

It wasn’t until night time where Joy was in her bed staring at the paper bouquet when she saw the out of place paper, it was notebook paper not plain or colored like the rest. Joy sat up and slowly took the paper out, careful not to damage the bouquet if the notepad paper happened to be apart of it.

Joy then unfolded the paper to find the love note, Joy read it.

‘Dear Joy,

Hi, it’s me, Anxiety not sure if you’ll find this note soon if you happen to do find it at all but if you are reading this you found it! Yeahhh, not the best but anyway I did make this note to… confess to you.

I can’t do it in person, it makes me too anxious and we know what happens if I get too anxious and I don’t want that to happen but, but anyways. Now, onto why I wrote this for you in the first place.

I love you, I have always looked up and loved you. You are so full of life and energy and positivity which is why you are Joy but I do love you, everything about you. How you calm me down when I get too anxious, how you give me tea, how beautiful you are, your personality, just… Everything!

I need to get this off my chest and confess to you so I did it like this, a small note in a bouquet I made for you, again. I love you, Joy.

Love, Anxiety.’

Joy practically melted at how sweet Anxiety was in the note, she folded it back up and placed the note and the bouquet on the shelf she had before quietly walking over to the main room. Joy walked in and saw Anxiety fast asleep in her chair which was on, Joy smiled, Anxiety rarely got sleep and stayed up all the time. She decided to not wake Anxiety and let her sleep.

Joy took a pencil off Anxiety’s table as well as a piece of paper and note a small note on it and hid it in Anxiety’s notepad so no one most likely Envy wouldn’t get a hold of it.

Joy then got Anxiety’s blanket off her bed and gently draped it over Anxiety carefully as to not wake her, Joy gave Anxiety a small forehead kiss before retreating and climbed back into her bed to a fall asleep even though Joy was giddy.

But she didn’t account for now light of a sleeper Anxiety is, Anxiety walked in a few minutes later and stared at Joy who hadn’t gone to sleep yet, Joy opened her eyes to see Anxiety standing over her, she sat up and Anxiety took her hand, quietly motioning that she wants to talk with Joy outside of the sleeping quarters.

Joy quietly got up and followed Anxiety who after they were a little far from the sleeping quarters, Joy could tell Anxiety was nervous by her mannerisms, she picked at her fingers and was fidgeting.

“So, what’d you want me for?” Joy asked, softly.

“I-I uh saw your note.” Anxiety stammered, “And uh It-it was really kind and sweet and I’m glad you feel the same way.”

Joy giggled softly, tiredness evident in her voice as she kissed Anxiety’s forehead once more. “Yes, yes now let’s get some rest, okay? You need it more anyways.”

Anxiety nodded, running past Joy to change into her nightgown. Joy waited for her as she thinks it’d be best to sleep in Anxiety’s massage chair as it’s the only thing that helps Anxiety really relax and by the looks of it, sleep.

Anxiety returned a few minutes later to find Joy settled in her chair, her feet softly padded against the floor, Anxiety without a word settled into Joy’s lap and cuddled up into Joy’s chest, who carefully wrapped both of them up in it.

Joy held Anxiety close, resting her chin on Anxiety’s head who relaxed. Joy felt her eyelids fall heavy as she yawned before tightly holding Anxiety and falling asleep, while Anxiety followed suit but not without the dying worry of bad thoughts that had subsided for now.
