“Steve?” Eddie hissed.
Steve dropped his hands from his face and whipped around. It felt like his heart had just jumped out of his chest, leaving him vulnerable to anyone reaching out and crushing it.
Eddie was poking his head out from behind a nearby tree. Sporting giant red sunglasses, Steve's old jacket, and oversized work gloves, he looked absolutely ridiculous.
“Uh.” Steve cleared his throat, relieved to find that his voice still worked. “Hey?”
