Work Text:
An Zhe woke from sleep to an empty bed and sat up, surprised. Morning sunlight peaked in through the shades of the room he shared with Lu Feng. They’d been busy the previous night, so he was a little sore as usual, but it was a comfortable soreness. He’d gotten up to get a drink of water in the early morning, and it was cold, so he was in his pajamas again, but he’d still snuggled up to Lu Feng afterward. Now, though, the bed was cool.
He looked around and saw Lu Feng sitting in a chair in the middle of the room, watching him thoughtfully. Lu Feng wore a white suit shirt and dark slacks, and his pose – sitting back in his chair – made him look imperious. His green eyes glittered in the light, and his dark hair looked perfect as ever, even clearly fresh from sleep.
An Zhe felt a little intimidated by the Colonel’s look, because it meant that Lu Feng had something on his mind and was waiting to drop it on An Zhe. But An Zhe got out of the bed and walked over. He looked down at Lu Feng, who gazed up at him with that sharply beautiful face. An Zhe picked at his pants and asked, “What’s wrong?”
Lu Feng smiled softly, in that gentle, beautiful way he had. A look he only ever had for An Zhe, according to everyone else they knew.
It made An Zhe smile back.
“Do you remember back when I arrested you for indecency?” Lu Feng asked.
An Zhe blinked in surprise, and cast his thoughts back. It was there in his memory, the entire terrifying and uncomfortable situation. He had no idea why the Colonel had asked now, though. So An Zhe frowned at Lu Feng and said, “You were mean.” An Zhe didn’t like being bullied, even if that seemed to be the Colonel’s natural state of being.
Lu Feng’s eyes seemed to glitter at that. But he said, “Yes, I was.” His expression grew a little sadder. “I didn’t really know how to keep you safe.”
“You wanted to?” An Zhe asked, surprised. Lu Feng had been so callous at the jail that An Zhe had been a bit confused, even after Lu Feng helped with Josh.
Lu Feng nodded. “I thought about leaving, pretending I hadn’t seen anything. Or taking the doll and disposing of it. Or pretending I’d found it discarded. But too many people had seen me. Like Josh.”
An Zhe frowned slightly at the memory of An Ze’s former companion, and said, “I don’t like thinking about him.”
Lu Feng nodded and didn’t push. Instead he continued, “I just wanted to protect you. It’s why I gave you my number. But… it wouldn’t have changed anything with the arrest.”
An Zhe nodded, thinking that having Lu Feng’s number had been useful when he needed help later, but he had no chance to use it before that. “What would you have done if I’d actually gone to trial?” An Zhe certainly wouldn’t have called him before then.
Lu Feng smiled and said, “I’d have to be in attendance as victim and arresting officer.” He tilted his head thoughtfully and continued, “I might have dropped my charge against you, which would mean you could go free, since you weren’t arrested for the crimes related to the doll, but for assaulting me.”
An Zhe frowned in confusion. “What do you mean?”
Lu Feng raised his eyebrows slightly. “I arrested you specifically for indecency, remember? Not illegally stealing my information or making the doll.”
An Zhe processed this, still confused.
“I was ordered to round up the co-conspirators in that little ring,” Lu Feng continued. “You were identified among them. I had to bring you in. But your connection to the crime was vague. So I followed orders: I brought you in. With the most pathetic charge I could think of.”
“You didn’t tell them I made the doll?” An Zhe asked. He simmered a bit at “pathetic”. He’d been in jail! And nearly died!
Lu Feng shook his head. “No.”
“But why make up the charge?”
Lu Feng smiled. “So I could release you from it. If I’d charged you with the same crime as the other arrestees, it would have been harder for me to let you go.”
An Zhe supposed he should have felt grateful. But instead, he felt even more annoyed. “You bullied me, though!”
Lu Feng raised an eyebrow again. “I remember only telling you to get a cup of water. You were the one stressing yourself out.”
An Zhe scoffed and turned his head. “You stress people out naturally.”
“Especially law-abiding mushrooms?” Lu Feng asked, with a bit of humor in his tone.
An Zhe looked down at the terrible man, and saw he was still smiling. “I am a law-abiding mushroom! If I wanted to commit a crime, I could, though!”
Lu Feng’s expression smoothed and he nodded, the picture of seriousness. “Indecency is a crime, after all. And you are good at that.”
An Zhe preened, glad Lu Feng recognized his capability for once.
“Perhaps you should demonstrate, though,” Lu Feng said. And An Zhe finally realized the man was teasing him more.
An Zhe was a self-respecting mushroom. He would not rise to Lu Feng’s bait. But he also wanted to squeeze that grin off of the human’s handsome face. So he stepped forward and reached out to Lu Feng’s cheek… but ended up cupping it instead of pinching it as planned. Lu Feng’s skin was so soft, and An Zhe rubbed it, marveling.
Lu Feng stared up at An Zhe. “That’s very indecent.”
An Zhe’s cheeks warmed and he said, “And how will you punish me, then?” He was intelligent enough to know they’d done far worse than this together. “You don’t really have the authority anymore.”
Lu Feng smiled. “Take your clothes off.”
An Zhe felt his heart race a little. But because he knew he could be a criminal if he wished, instead of doing it like a human, he turned into white hyphae and climbed out of his clothing and over Lu Feng’s lap, where he reformed into his nude human form, with his arms wrapped around Lu Feng’s neck.
Lu Feng smiled at An Zhe, and placed his hands on An Zhe’s hips. “Incredibly indecent. You’re a bona fide criminal mushroom, now.”
An Zhe smiled.
Lu Feng reached out and caressed An Zhe’s left cheek with his fingers.
An Zhe turned into the hand and kissed the Colonel’s palm.
Lu Feng hummed and pulled An Zhe closer, capturing his lips.
An Zhe relaxed against Lu Feng. They weren’t in that terrifying place in between knowing each other and not anymore. They’d both thoroughly explored each other, gone through death and the end of the world together. An Zhe could feel every place on his human form where Lu Feng had touched him, and knew what it was like to wrap his hyphae around Lu Feng. For all Lu Feng could still be very exasperating, An Zhe trusted him, loved him, and didn’t want to ever be separated from him again. The things An Zhe had been scared of back when Lu Feng had arrested him – getting discovered and perhaps killed or experimented on – were things of the past. Now, humans revered An Zhe as a kind of miracle, and actively pushed themselves to greater biological limits, and the man before him was more of an outlier for not joining them.
Because he was happy, here, with An Zhe.
In this particular moment, An Zhe could feel Lu Feng’s cock growing hard in his pants under An Zhe.
An Zhe reached down and undid Lu Feng’s zipper.
“Trying to get written up more?” Lu Feng asked against An Zhe’s lips. He didn’t stop An Zhe, though.
“Do your worst,” An Zhe dared him, feeling a bit surprised by his own boldness.
Lu Feng’s eyes sparkled and he wrapped one arm around An Zhe to raise him up, while using his other hand to shove open his pants, freeing his cock. He lowered An Zhe back down, letting the glans prod at An Zhe’s ass.
An Zhe’s face heated, but he extended his white hyphae back to take hold of Lu Feng’s cock and guide it up, pressing it inside his loose hole. It was almost always startling, but Lu Feng took control again, moving his hands down to better maneuver An Zhe’s hips and press him down on Lu Feng’s cock.
An Zhe breathed in deeply, wrapping his arms tightly around Lu Feng as he took in more of Lu Feng’s shaft. They were so close then, almost becoming one. It lit up An Zhe’s nerves and made him greedily rub his left cheek against Lu Feng’s, wanting even more touch. Lu Feng was all sharp heat and An Zhe couldn’t get enough, even when it hurt, even when An Zhe cried from it.
Lu Feng controlled An Zhe’s hips, raising him briefly before pulling him back down. The movement shoved Lu Feng’s cock deeper, and elicited a pleased groan from An Zhe. From there, Lu feng began picking up and pulling An Zhe down harder and faster, forcing his way deeper inside An Zhe.
An Zhe cried out on each sharp thrust, squeezing his knees around Lu Feng’s chest. The fingers of his left hand wound their way into Lu Feng’s soft hair and clung to it as Lu Feng’s cock pummeled his insides. Lu Feng’s hot breath tickled An Zhe’s neck, making the mushroom shiver. When Lu Feng angled his cock slightly differently on one thrust, sending a wave of pleasure racing through An Zhe’s body, An Zhe made an incoherent noise and twitched against the taller human.
Lu Feng said, breathily, “You don’t have to control yourself now.”
An Zhe wasn’t able to reply as Lu Feng worked him over. And when An Zhe came over the Colonel’s shirt, he thought that was a suitable and deserved reply, even if An Zhe was probably the one who’d be cleaning it later. Lu Feng would have to be sticky for a bit, all the same.
Lu feng kept fucking into him, squeezing An Zhe’s delicate skin and leaving what An Zhe knew would be bruises later. When the Colonel finally came, he yanked An Zhe down, so he could spill deep inside An Zhe’s core.
An Zhe breathed harshly against Lu Feng’s neck. His right hand clutched at the back of Lu Feng’s shirt.
Lu Feng raised his right hand to rub the end of An Zhe’s sweaty spine, his fingers gentle and soothing. “Is that suitable punishment?” he finally asked.
An Zhe scoffed slightly and shut his eyes, breathing in Lu Feng’s pleasant and familiar scent, and leaning into the soft touches, enjoying the heat of every line of their connection. “I’ll consider it.”
Lu Feng laughed.
