Chapter Text
“Ok but what about if I just put a post out which is a cute picture of us two snogging, and I caption it, “If anyone asks, I’m definitely straight””, Lando said, lying across Oscar’s sofa, his head in Oscar's lap as he scrolled through Instagram, Oscar stroking his hair the whole time.
In the four weeks of the summer break, Lando and Oscar had barely left the small London apartment, doing their best to hide from the media who were still trying to unmask Lando and his sexuality while dodging calls from McLaren PR as they continued to come up with creative solutions to their ‘problem’. The pair had laughed when the most recent article to gain attention across Twitter was titled ‘Is Lando Norris having a sexuality crisis in hiding?’. Despite their world being small over the summer break, Lando thought it was the happiest he had been since his racing career had taken off.
“I really don’t think McLaren’s PR would appreciate you hard launching me and being vague about your sexuality in an Instagram post,” Oscar said laughing, enjoying the weight of Lando against him.
“Come on, it would be so funny, it would break the internet.” Lando continued, “McLaren has been begging me to make some kind of post and remind everyone I’m not dead, this would be perfect.”
Oscar rolled his eyes and leaned down to place a kiss on Lando’s curls. “You know you could just do a normal Instagram post without giving thousands of teenage girls heart attacks.”
Lando sighed dramatically, throwing his phone to the end of the sofa and rolling to press his face into Oscar’s stomach. “But that’s so boring and I don’t even have anything good to post.”
Oscar stood up suddenly, almost throwing Lando off his lap and onto the floor, making his way across the room to grab his laptop. “Lando, you do know I’m a professional photographer who has spent the last 6 years being paid to literally take photos of you, right?” Oscar said, sitting back on the sofa with the laptop, and handing it off to Lando.
“Here,” he said, wrapping his arms around the other man and resting his head on Lando’s shoulder to get a good view.
The laptop screen showed two folders: Lando_All and Lando_Favourite.
Lando looked back at Oscar, his expression half shock and half awe. “You have two whole folders dedicated to me?” Lando said, a grin spreading wider and wider across his blushing cheeks as he spoke.
“I’m sorry but I also have folders for the other drivers.” Oscar said, laughing at the way Lando’s face immediately dropped, “However, I can promise you that you are the only driver with a favourites file, I have too many of you it was getting out of control.”
“What do you mean you have too many of me?” Lando asked, double-clicking into the Lando_All folder, only to be met with 5,000 photos of himself in various positions at different races.
“Oscar!” Lando exclaimed as he scrolled through the seemingly never-ending folder, “This is insane!”
Oscar laughed harder, leaning closer into Lando’s body, “That’s why I have a favourites file!” he argued, “look at that one instead.”
Lando went back, now double-clicking into the Lando_Favourites folder. This one was much more manageable, containing only about 70 photos of Lando, but they were different from the others. Each of the pictures in this folder were crafted to make Lando look ethereal, always surrounded by droplets of champagne suspended in the air, or bathed in a golden light that made him glow. Each picture could only be described as a work of art.
“Oscar these are amazing, how do you take pictures like this? Lando asked, dumbfounded that the images in front of him were actually pictures of himself.
“I just like capturing the beauty I see so everyone else can see it too. It’s called talent,” Oscar said cheerfully, but with conviction.
“This is how you see me?” Lando asked, gesturing to the array of photos on the computer screen, disbelieving.
Oscar’s eyes softened, taking one of Lando’s hands in his own and intertwining their fingers, “Of course this is how I see you Lando, you’re my muse or something. If I could only take pictures of one thing ever again for the rest of my life, I’d choose you.” Oscar said, lifting Lando’s hand to his mouth to place a gentle kiss, “In case you can’t tell, I might be a tiny bit obsessed with you.”
It took everything in Lando not to physically swoon as he closed the lid of the laptop and put in out of harm's way before launching himself at Oscar, bringing the other man down to lie on the sofa with a bump but close enough for Lando to kiss him. “I’m so glad I reposted that picture you took in Canada,” Lando said, tightening his grip on the younger man.
“I’m so glad I took that picture in Canada,” Oscar said, silently thinking that he would be very content to keep taking photos of Lando forever.
A few hours later, Lando finally made an Instagram post, choosing to share the picture of the Canadian podium that had inadvertently brought him and Oscar together.

It didn’t take long for the comments to explode, first with hate comments that were quickly deleted and then hundreds of messages of support and apologies for the treatment Lando had received in the last month. But, among them all, there was only one comment that Lando cared about.
