Let me bury myself in your arms

Summary:

Astarion doesn’t usually stay long in Everett’s bedroll, preferring to slip away before the sun comes up. He’s sure that Everett doesn’t even know he’s there.

Notes:

I’m working on some stories, but working really slow. I’m suffering from writer’s block, seeing everyone’s wonderful work and their beautiful Tav’s. I’m trying to grow Everett as a character as well as work on his story, backstory and his place in the world. I want to work on my other Tav’s and their partners. And since I’m off of work for the summer, I find myself binging on playing Bladur’s Gate 3 instead of writing fan fiction. This is based on the prompt: Don’t go, Stay

Work Text:

Don’t go, Stay

He couldn’t sink into his meditation, exhaustion crawling through him and yet he pressed and burrowed deeper in the Tiefling’s arms to soak up as much warmth he could without the man being none the wiser.  Nightmares followed him from his meditations, chasing him from the bedroll he had been calling home and into Everett’s own.  So sure that the man didn’t even notice him coming in for a cuddle.  Could pretend that this was different.  No tadpole, no threat of Cazador looming over his head.  Just being with someone who turned his world around, offering him not only the protection he sought and the companionship that Everett offered. No judgement, nor the push for sex. Just himself and the comfort those arms brought him

The soft purr like sound escaped from Everett, arms that pulled him closer.  Something he was having a hard time admitting that he enjoyed.  To feel a nose snuff at his hair, the steady breathing that in his hair as his chest twinged with guilt as he remembered the way Everett’s tail would lift for him.  A glow he couldn’t bring himself to ask the man about.

When the light of a day started to creep up the horizon, swallowing back a sound of disappointment.  Wanting nothing more than to stay in those arms that trusted him, hugging him without expecting anything from him.  Pulling back and away, he caught the whine from Everett, looking over to see him half asleep, eyes partially open.

“Don't go, Astarion,” the whispered beg, “stay.”  The hesitant words as a hand was held out to him.  “Please.”

He couldn't stop his hand from reaching out to grasp the man’s hand.  Wasn't expecting to enjoy it when the Tiefling pulled him in, tucking him into the curve of his body and the sigh of contentment from the other.

Xe dajy haf ,” words whispered softly into his hair, a kiss on his head.  Hearing the heavy pounding of Everett's heart, he could only wonder what his heart would feel like if it could beat.  If it would race at the words that Everett would speak to him, even if he couldn’t understand what the man had been saying.

Pulling away just a little, another sleepy sound of protest before he managed to turn around to face the man.  Allowing himself to give in, tucking his head underneath Everett’s chin.  Letting himself drift off as the man’s scent filled his senses, arms wrapped around him and legs intertwining with his.
