When the principal finally comes in to stop the food fight they take the kid and Barbra since the two of them started it, Jim looks back at Oswald with a slightly awkward smile and Oswald already knew what he was going to say. “I should probably go check on her.” He says, causing Oswald to roll his eyes. The two broke up a while ago yet Jim still is adamant on checking on her. Despite her even having moved on. “Yeah, okay. It was good talking to you.” Oswald says, glancing to the other out of the corners of his eyes.
“Yeah..yeah, it was.” Jim says with a pause between his words. He gives one last smile before getting out from under the table and exiting the cafeteria, Tabitha close behind him. Oswald sighs after Jim leaves. “Why is he so attached to her?” He complains to Ivy and Bridgit as they themselves get back into their seats.
“I don’t know, cause she’s hot I guess.” Ivy says with a shrug, causing Bridgit to hum in agreement. “Are we even sure he’s gay?” Bridgit asks causing Ivy to elbow her with a hushed whisper. “Ow— I’m just saying. He might not be,” Bridgit says quickly as she rubs her freshly hurt shoulder. Oswald knew she was right, Jim seems more homophobic than gay. Especially after Barbra got with Tabitha.
But still, he really liked the other enough to be next to Harvey even. And he didn’t really want to give up. “Anyways, what are you guys doing after school?” Ivy asks swiftly changing the subject, Bridgit hums in thought before answering. “I have to help my brothers with something.” She answers, no one at the table saying anything but the small frowns and scowls shared amongst them speak loud enough.
They all hate her brothers, Bridgit more or less. Oswald doesn’t know how the scumbag in a man mood managed to woo her mother who was a saint. It just didn’t make sense, but it’s Gotham nothing makes sense. “I have detention after school and then I may start on the project I have in art.” He says, reminding himself he has to ask to change partners after school. “Speaking of which I didn’t know both the twins had the eyes for you, I thought it was just Jerome.” Ivy says with a small smirk causing Bridgit to snicker. “They don’t, we’re acquaintances at best.” Oswald says in defense, he doesn’t think either of the twins like him like that.
Or anyone for that matter, there always seems to be someone else in the picture or just the other not reciprocating. Which is a bummer sure, but it’s high school. Maybe he’ll find someone in the future. “Uh huh, sure. Whatever you need to tell yourself. But I’m just saying if I were you I’d pick Jeremiah, because Jerome just gives me the creeps.” Ivy whispers like it’s a major secret.
“Thanks for your blessing.” Oswald says sarcastically. The three of them then go back to eating until lunch is over. Each of them stopping at their lockers, he now has break. Which is simple and easy, he’ll probably just sit up on the bleachers and do his homework or something.
