“ Excuse me, Mr Guerin's.” Isobel interrupted their dancing, popping their bubble of just the two of them. The music and the chatter came back to them. Michael kept his arm around Alex's waist looking around the Pony. Seeing everyone. Their family.
Sanders and Eduardo talking at the bar, Rosa and Bonnie were sharing a plate of chips laughing at something on Rosa's phone. Looking towards the snack table Max and Kyle were talking while holding beers and Maria and Dallas were lost in each other dancing. It warmed Michael's heart seeing their family here, at their wedding. Watching them all mingle and celebrate with them.
Alex's thumb rubbed against his neck, Michael looked at him with a smile. Isobel cleared her throat, stealing their attention. They both shared a smirk before looking at her.
“ Yes Isobel?” Alex said smiling, leaning into his side. Michael smiled.
Isobel smiled fondly, “ Can I steal a dance from my brother for a bit?”
“ Of cours-”
“No,” Michael interrupted, he immediately bit his lip realizing how quickly he said that. Alex looked at him with an amused smile and a raised brow. Isobel also looked very amused and fake offended.
“Oh, woow Michael. Tell me how you really feel.” Isobel said teasing.
Michael smiled, with his bottom lip between his teeth and cheeks red. Alex smiled fondly, stepping away a bit. Immediately Michael pulled him closer making Alex laugh.
“No.”
Alex laughed, saying, “ Dance with your sister.”
“Wha.. no. It's our night-”
“ Baby, we will have the rest of the night and we have months of our honeymoon too. Dance with Iz.” Alex encouraged him softly, giving him a look that made Michael's knees nearly buckle. It was such a happy look he couldn't help but nod.
Michael suppressed a groan saying, “Fine.. but only for 30 minutes then I want you back.”
Alex smiled, kissing his cheek, “ Of course, I can go chat with Kyle and Max in the meantime.” He handed Michael over to Isobel and he was already missing his touch. By the look on Alex's face he felt the same.
Michael again hesitated but let Isobel take his arm as Liz rushed over to them taking Alex's arm saying, “Nope mine now. I want a dance.”
“Oh really?” Alex asked amused. Michael smiled seeing Liz hold on tighter. Liz nodded, dragging him away, Alex casted him a look that Michael read immediately. He nodded, mouthing “I got you” knowing Alex needed him to keep a bit of weight off his leg for him.
Even though he tried, Michael couldn't tear his eyes away from Alex as he and Isobel began to dance. Isobel cleared her throat, pulling his attention away shamefully.
There was a blush on his cheeks he's sure of it. “ So why did you pull me away from my husband?” Michael said, unable to keep the smile off his lips at the word.
“ Oh my god you are so in love with him.” Isobel stated fondly, shaking her head.
“Yea I am.”
Isobel smiled softly, “ I know you are.. it's so obvious now. Especially now. You feel… at peace.”
Michael chuckled, “ at peace?”
“Yeah,” Isobel laughed. She eyed him with her aura reading face saying, “ It's just. . You always felt chaotic growing up. I've always been able to feel your ties/ love to him. It was always so clouded by what you were struggling with.. After you guys got together officially you settled a lot. You allowed yourself to fall into the happiness Alex brings you. You embraced how much you love Alex.”
Michael smiled, nodding in agreement. Isobel smiled, squeezing his hand, “ But there still were the bits of struggles you had in the back of your mind still. Questions you needed answered. Now with those answers you're free… happier than I have ever seen you. You're at peace, happy. Excited about the next chapter of your life together.”
“Yea,” Michael said breathlessly. Everything she said was absolutely true. Like she was reading an open book. And she truly was. With Isobel's empath abilities they couldn't get anything past her, he didn't want to either honestly. Not anymore. A couple of months ago, specifically after their three month anniversary date she told him his aura was screaming at her. It was overwhelming how happy and in line his aura was. It made him so unbelievably happy that even his sister could read how amazing he felt with Alex.
“ Yea.. all of that. I've been trying to figure out how I've been feeling other than happiness these past couple of months. Because I could feel something had changed.. I wasn't sure but I haven't been angry like I used to be. Like you said.. I'm at peace.”
Isobel smiled big, her eyes full of happiness for him. They swayed to the music, watching the others mingle and dance. Nearby Alex and Liz were dancing, laughing and talking. Michael smiled seeing Alex so carefree and happy.
“So,” Isobel said, Michael looked at her. “ No more Oasis then?”
His brow raised at the question, a small smile spread on his face. Her question slightly confirmed one of his other questions. If he went, how would she feel? This whole time Isobel seemed to put on a brave face and support but knowing their history she had a hard time letting him and Max go, even just a bit. She seems better at it now but he was still curious.
“My home is here.” Michael looked at Alex, watching him smile and laugh. Isobel gave him a smug smile when he looked back here. “ Everything I need is here. With Alex. It's out there, Oasis. I know that now. If there ever is a desire to explore it.. it's there. But, I honestly can't see myself doing that unless Alex can be by my side. I wanna do that with my person, my partner.”
Isobel hummed.
Something about the tone of it made Michael raise a brow, “ you knew that didn't you. That it was always him.”
Isobel shrugged with a winning smile, “Of course I did. I can read it, duh.”
Michael laughed, “ So why didn't you say anything?”
“You need to get there on your own, Michael. And you did. It was a horrible way. I was hoping it would be completely different not by him going missing and almost dying in a pocket dimension but.. still.” Isobel said.
Nodding, Michael agreed, “ True. Definitely the worst way to realize it though. But… Now I'm only looking forward to the future with him. Whatever that holds. Our honeymoon, obviously. Looking forward to spending alone time with him for months.. especially after recently. And then our life together.”
Isobel smiled, holding him close, “ And I'm excited to see you flourish in this new chapter of your life.”
