Chapter Text
Luis was smoking by the window, making sure not to intrude the house with the smell of cigarettes.
He did this for Leon, but also just out of politeness. Though, truthfully Leon didn't mind the smell. It only reminded him of Luis, but if you asked him, he would probably decline the truth, as smoking kills.
Truthfully it calmed his nerves. The smell of Luis, the smell of his cigarettes. It only made it harder to go back on missions, it only made it harder for him to get up in the morning, whilst laying beside Luis.
Luis had been staying with him for quite some time now. Only being 'roommates' of course. Luis only occasionally slept in his room, for comfort. It was so much easier falling asleep beside him, so calming. Pretending that he had some sort of normal life, Luis was his stabilizer. Luis clinged onto his cigarettes for relief and stability, whilst Leon clinged onto the comfort of Luis by his side. Again this was only on occasion. Leon had worked his ass off for Luis to even be able to be his 'roommate', so this was just a pay off.
Though just because of this, doesn't mean that Leon doesn't get his alone time. Not clinging on to the other all the time. Luis had trouble with personal space sometimes, but after so long, they had finally worked something out. Leon would get huddled up in his room, whilst Luis smoked by a window.
Sometimes Luis wasn't by the window smoking, but instead going on walks, smoking of course. That's about all Leon knew he did while being in his room, soaking up some needed alone time. Luis didn't really know what he did in his room all alone either.
Finally Leon came out of his room, he had stayed in there a tad bit longer than usual. Not like anyone was keeping track of the time, though. But Luis felt that it had been longer, so much so, he had felt a little guilty that he didn't go out and get some food.
When was the last time Leon had eaten? They never really had a full fridge. Leon was out on missions most of the time, and Luis never really felt the need to cook a meal for only himself, when there was takeout. Maybe working at Umbrella once upon a time, had given him some bad habits. They both had to work on eating proper meals more often.
When Leon came out of his room, he was wearing rather comfortable clothes. A white tee, with some band graphic design on it and blue jeans. As Luis stared at the other, Leon had made his way near the door. Keys swirling around his index finger. Now his hands were grabbing and putting on a puffy black jacket, different from his usual leather one. Luis obviously staring at him, as he held his third cigarette between his index and middle finger outside between the open window. After putting his jacket on, Leon noticed and abruptly said, "you coming?".
Luis blinked, moving to put his cigarette back in his mouth, then blowing the smoke outside the window. He did all this as if he was suddenly woken up. Shortly after, he replied with a "where to, Sancho?". The nickname stuck.
"Doesn't matter, just need some fresh air," Leon said dryly.
Luis was moving now, flicking his cigarette out, then putting it in the ashtray. Then he got up and walked towards the door, as if to say, yes, he was coming. "Prince charming, finally thinking about his health, for once" he said with a smirk. Leon quickly replied that it was "better than killing myself with a cancerous stick". ""Cancerous stick", now that's a new one, sancho". Whilst bickering Leon was still jingling his keys.
When Luis had something to say about Leon finally coming out of his room, or better yet, 'bat cave', Leon usually never replied with anything except a look. Luis could read it perfectly, he had to. Once Leon came out, it's like he forgot all of his communication skills, and was usually quiet for a while after. Finally regaining the ability to have a lasting conversation later. But right now that wasn't the case. Luis' smirk only widened at Leon's quip about Luis' addiction.
"Mind if we go by that old diner nearby?" Leon said whilst heading out the door, Luis followed him. Then jokingly replied with "wherever you go I follow, my prince charming". Leon didn't say anything after that, but definitely had some sort of reaction. His face said that he was slightly cringing at that, but his ears told a different story, as they were a little pinkish. He tried to hide that factor with his hair. Luis noticed of course, chuckling even, at the observation. Luis noticed a lot from the other. He had to notice those little details because other than that, Leon wasn't very communicative with how he felt, or rather just things in general. Luis brought something out of him occasionally, even if it was just a little cute reaction like that.
Luis had nothing to say after that. Luis lingering by him, like the cigarette smoke in their shared apartment.
