If you asked most guys, they'd tell you that the best spot for a first date would be a restaurant or going to the movies. But Anthony wasn't like that - he needed to plan the most perfect first date in the world in order to show Adele that he's worth it, that they are worth it. Even though the two have made their relationship official as of Internationals, he still wanted to impress her.
After months of soul-crushing stress, it was finally time for him to let go and have fun. Let go of the stress of being the perfect dance captain, of holding the team together, of internationals as a whole… Letting go of the stress of holding in his feelings for Adele and worrying what's going to happen between them if he'll keep this up.
He would scream that he liked her from the rooftops if he could, just let everyone know how strong were his feelings for that girl. He had already shown it through dance, but he wanted more. He wanted her to feel special, to feel loved for the rest of their days together.
Anxiety was present in Anthony’s life in some way or another since he was little. Besides for his natural leading skills, he had the need to have some sort of control of almost every situation; but he didn’t care about any of that when he was with Adele.
On the day they first met, they let the time run out before the auditions and left themselves barely any time to rehearse, and it was the first time in a long time that it didn't matter. They were able to help one another get over their jitters and perform the best that they could, leading to the both of them making A-Troupe.
Everything was easier with Adele around. But Anthony thought that he would never be anything more to her than a teammate and a dance partner. And oh, how glad he was to be so wrong.
After Adele told him that they should just be dance partners, he couldn’t help himself but convince himself that the girl had a strong dislike towards him, and that he had misunderstood all of their good memories together - which was ultimately what helped him find out the truth. If he didn't tell her that she doesn't like him, she wouldn't have admitted the truth.
In no world did he expect for Adele to admit that she, in fact, does like him and that she found it to be a problem, just like he thought - just for different reasons. Finding out that she was even somewhat jealous seeing him asking out Camille was somehow a bigger shock. He had to show her, prove it to her that his feelings for her not only existed, but were stronger than ever.
Now that he was officially her boyfriend, it was a need for him to show her that she had made the right choice by agreeing to be his girlfriend. He placed more effort into this date that he did for some of his dances.
He asked her to meet him at six-twenty pm next to his old studio across town. Adele found it adorable and told him that she'll meet him there. He instructed her to come wearing something comfortable.
Anthony was standing in front of his old studio, wearing a green tank top with long, black sweatpants. He was fiddling with his hands and looking at his phone, waiting for a text message from her.
It was hard for him to miss Adele’s 2016 white Mazda Miata by now. He and Adele shared many good moments inside of it - singing songs that was stuck in their heads completely out of pitch, giving each other pep talks when they were feeling down... he could never forget it or its license plate.
Adele stepped out of the car, and Anthony was mesmerized; although she was wearing quite simple clothing, just as he instructed her to – a flowy, green tank top and some black jeggings, to him, it was one of the most beautiful things she had ever worn. He was amazed by her beauty.
“Hi!” she waved at him from across the parking lot, beaming as she approached him. “Hi,” he waved back, his voice filled with jitters. Adele came right up to him with open arms. He wrapped her arms around her. "You look really handsome," she pulled away, complimenting him. "So do you! I mean, you look great. Really great." he chuckled.
Adele looked at him adoringly. Even though they just pulled away from their hug, she went right back in for another one. Anthony placed one hand on her back and the other gently holding the back of her head. “I’m really excited,” she admitted, giggling, still holding onto the boy. “Yeah, me too.” he was giggling alongside her.
“I brought you here because this place is very special to me, just like you.” The black-haired girl’s cheeks turned bright pink. He took her hand and squeezed it gently. “Come with me,” he was now leading the way around the side of the building, and Adele followed him with no questions asked.
He was nearly skipping with joy. He’s on a date with Adele! She’s on a date with him! They’re dating! It's official! And now, he’s going to share with her something so magnificent, he hoped this place would soon become as special to her as it was to him.
The longer they walk, the more flowers that graced their path – they were tall, short, colorful, covering their entire pathway. At the middle of the field was a plaid blanket with a picnic basket on top of it. Adele stopped in her tracks and admired the views. “You did all of this for me?” she was almost speechless. It was quite a sight for sore eyes.
“Yeah. it’s nothing, really.” He passed his other hand through his hair. “Only the best for you.” He felt as his own cheeks turned red. Adele leaned over and placed a peck on his cheeks before running towards the picnic spot. "I used to come here a lot when I was waiting for my bus back home. I missed a lot of buses because of this view." Anthony laughed.
"I get it. It's really beautiful." Adele was mesmerized. It wasn't hard to understand why he brought her there - it was more romantic than any other thing she could've imagined. Before they sat down, Anthony reached for Adele's hand and spun her around. They began dancing closely, not breaking eye-contact for even a moment.
Dancing together was always so natural to them. Their connection was stronger than any words, and their body language showed exactly what they felt towards one another. Anthony spun her around once more, this time pulling her closer. They stood there, with his hand on her hip, and allowed their lips to interlock.
They finally sat down and Anthony had taken out two grilled cheese sandwiches out of the picnic. “My lady,” he offered her one, causing her to giggle. “Thank you, kind sir.” And the conversation soon shifted to the studio and internationals. It hadn’t been long since the two performed their duet, which some may call life-changing, and brought their team to victory.
“I have a question," Adele stared into his brown eyes. “Yeah,” now he was curious. “When did you start liking me?” she couldn’t stop herself from smirking as she asked. “Isn’t that obvious?”
“No!” Adele was moving herself closer to Anthony with each sentence said. “Not at all!” her body was now partly leaning on the boy’s torso. “It was day of the auditions.” Adele placed her head on Anthony’s chest, allowing him to continue his story. “You walked in and were so easygoing and cool… I was so nervous. I wanted to give you that yellow rose and say something charming, but I was so sure that I’ll mess it up so I stayed quiet.”
This was the second time ever where Adele was speechless – the first was when the boy confessed his feelings back to her. Anthony placed a small peck on her forehead. "I'm glad I eventually gave it to you," he was beaming. "I keep it in my room, you know." she confessed, making him lean in and place a small peck on her lips.
Adele's cheeks were burning in bright pink. “What about you?” Anthony returned the question. “What about me?” she wondered. “When did you realize you like me?” his voice was soft, and his fingers were running gently through the girl’s curles. “It was during the dance captain auditions. I was feeling down about losing that round, worrying that i'll possibly be the alternate again... you immediately came to comfort me. But I could never, in a million years, imagined that you liked me back.”
Her eyes actually sparkled – he thought it only happened in movies, but there he was, staring into the eyes of the most beautiful girl in the world as they were longing just for him. “I do,” he assured her, his voice gentle. “I want you to always remember that.” he gave her hand a squeeze.
“Okay,” she promised him, and the two made a pinky-promise. Adele placed her hand on Anthony’s chin and pressed their lips together in a gentle manner. As they pulled away, Adele brought her head back to the boy’s torso, allowing him to keep stroking her hair.
They sat and watched the sunset together when Adele suddenly pulled out her phone. “Okay, I’m gonna do something,” she opened the camera app. The camera was facing the both of them, They were looking at one another with nothing more then love in their eyes.
The photo was taken, and Adele uploaded it to her story. “I’m just really happy right now. and I wanted everyone to know.” she explained, chuckling. “Yeah, I get that.” Anthony beamed.
“If I may,” he pulled out his phone and took a similar photo, this time, of the two kissing, and uploaded it to his story with the song ‘Boyfriend’ by Coins playing the background, captioning it; ‘With my girl.’
