Chapter Text

Izuku didn’t regret helping Toga. Well obviously he wouldn't but… it went a bit further. The girl had seemingly relaxed slightly after seeing that he hadn't lied about Shinju but even then Sage had left after showing her where the futon and toiletries were that both him and hera had stored in the house.

The main reason why he was actually very glad that he had done it was because the night his mind had been more focused on the fate of the girl than on what he had done mere hours before. He had slept better… he had felt better and when he, the next day, came to pick up Shinju… the guild leader was already awake and even fully dressed. She…was ready for school which was an extreme improvement to the days before.

Toga had practically vibrated next to the secret adult as she had caught sight of Izuku “you are Izuku, right? Totally nice to meet you.” Actually smiling widely, looking far, far better than yesterday evening.

Izuku merely nodded, bowing slightly as a greeting “thank you for waking up Shinju.”

“No probs! I'm gonna hurry now! Can't be late!” And then she was already running off.

Izuku had been a bit worried as there was literally nothing more he could do but he hadn't needed to be. When he had brought Shinju home… Toga was there again, now actually looking slightly nervous as she leaned against the wall, balancing on her heels and nearly toppling Over as she pushed herself forward to jump in front of him “so… izuku? You're like Sages son, Right?”

And well… damn. He cleared his throat “sage and I Are connected just… well his situation is a bit complicated so I can't really confirm his identity… sorry.”

But toga shook her head “tots okay. But like… I was wondering if you like… know if he would mind me staying here for a bit longer?”

“its up to shinju” But the guild leader just opened the door, stepped inside and left the door open, which was most definitely enough of an answer “and she doesn't mind. So yeah you can.”

Toga actually beamed at him, a very wide grin… a bit odd but not really noteworthy “want me to keep waking Shinju then?”

“Would be very much appreciated.”

“I can absolutely do that!”

He smiled slightly “also there is Siria. She drops by quite often but I will inform her and she won't mind. She's actually working on her law degree again so… she might be able to help you with some things if you ask her. I guarantee she will keep her mouth shut.”

“I… yeah sure. Cool.”

“Do you like… need anything from home Or something?”

She shook her head “I had some clothes at school In case something dirtied my uniform. It's fine.”

“There Is food in the fridge and me, sage or Siria often drop by just to make sure that Shinju eats something….”

“I'm gonna get her something as well. I can do that much.”

He smiled, turning around before he stopped in his tracks “so… by the way. I'm aware of your dietary needs and if sage isn't here and you need something you can ask me just… just keep Shinju out of it. You saw how weak her body is, I don't think she could handle losing anything more.”

Had he expected the girl to jump on him and hug him as a reaction to this? Absolutely not but… did he mind it much? Also not.

Allowing Toga to stay really turned out better than he had thought. She had not attempted to contact the authorities again or anything but… two days later she had actually taken the time to brush Shinjus hair before school and braid it. Izuku wasn't surprised that Shinju had allowed it but… well he had also not expected that Toga would do something like that on her own accord but the girl had just proudly presented shinju and pointed it out several times all while saying how cute that looked on her.

Four days later, toga had started cleaning up the kitchen and living room on her own accord, calling it playing house.

Somehow Izuku had not expected all of this to work out that well and truth be told he didn't know how long this would last as Toga quite literally had run away from home but… right now? It was far better than expected. Shinju didn't mind and Toga seemingly grew to like her new situation everyday and it was .. well it was good.

Before Izuku had worried about shinju a lot, he was not capable of watching her every single second of the day and even if she wouldn't kill herself… he hated watching her waste away but since Toga had moved in? Well… shinju wasn't unsupervised, the opposite even. Toga was an extremely extroverted girl taking great pleasure in bothering the other woman with eating together, trying to implement beauty sessions and all that. He even found nail polish on shinju's hands this morning.

Truth be told he wasn't surprised that Shinju didn't protest.. sure she hadn't before either but the girl she was dealing with was still an abused kid and this meant a great deal.

It was a bit odd that he actually trusted a random girl he had just met to stay with the Abernethy guild leader but at the same time? Shinju might look weak, she was just skin and bones and she wasn't responsive most of the time but… that didn't change who she was and even in that frail body of hers? There was magic and even without her accessing her real body it had never meant that she was defenseless. One could push their bodies to their limit just by using mana to substitute for energy and all that. Shinju could defend herself better than most.

It was also why he didn't mind it when Toga hesitantly asked if she could bring a friend in. A boy she had met while spending her time avoiding going home, a guy who apparently was practically homeless and probably already acquainted with not the nicest kind of people… Izuku didn't mind it because he knew no matter what Shinju Would not allow herself to die for heras sake.

Sure, Izuku hadn't met Mustard even after Toga had apparently found him but it would be alright. And if this boy's addition brought any villains to the house? Either shinju would take care of it herself or… Izuku had multiple more targets. There was nothing to be afraid of and maybe… maybe both these additions would help shinju. She had said she had no purpose anymore, that she saw no purpose in living as there was no reason for it so maybe… maybe abused kids would be it? Maybe those two kids would do something? Move something in shinju?

Well… at least Toga would keep bothering Shinju about food, about waking up and all that and that was already a lot.
