Summary
To walk the path of a mortal life wasn’t unheard of. Geonhak had simply never understood the appeal, the yearning to live knowing one day death would claim you. He served The Balance and he served it well.
Until one day, he takes on a mission that leaves him stranded in the physical realm, magic crippled and fatally wounded, bleeding for the first time in millenia.
The humans that help him are strange, never expecting anything in return. Their souls sing bright tones of kindness despite mingled undercurrents of grief and pain and hurt too. Amidst the cruelty and the brilliance, they teach him how to laugh, to feel, to fly and to fall without wings.
Maybe Geonhak still doesn’t fully understand but they’re his humans. He’d do anything to keep them safe.
