His first victim was a gerbil. He will never forget the metallic taste as he licked his fingers, slowly pulling the skin off the rodent. Every drop of any liquid was priceless when monsters settled near the nearest oasis. The meat was... strange. Stringy, not like the kind the scientists had given him, but he didn't complain, biting off small pieces to slowly push them down his throat despite vomiting spurts. He was hungry. He was hungry as hell. There had been no new group for four weeks. No one to whom he could steal supplies. Why weren't they coming back? Was it because he didn't want to stay in the village? Were they angry at him? They abandoned him like everyone who had ever been in his life. Blurred memories of people from his childhood. He was sick of people disappearing. He was lonely... And hungry.
