Chapter Text

“Mnngh…”

“Kiana.”

“5 more…”

“Kiana, dinners almost ready.”

Her amber eyes shot open.

“What?” The white haired girl asked in panic.

She shot up from the couch she laid on.

“Kiana?”

She frantically looked around, quickly taking in her environment.

This…

The atmosphere felt comforting, like she was…

She could hear banter far away, and if she turned to the source, she could find a group of people gathered around a table, laughing and smiling. Like…

The area was simple. A place to reside…

Home.

“Kiana…?”

She finally acknowledged the voice that she presumed as trying to talk to her, and turned.

“Are you ok? Did you have a nightmare?” A purple haired girl asked, her voice laced with concern.

She analyzed the girl for a couple moments, being almost completely still.

“Kiana? You’re starting to worry me-“

She practically lunged herself at the girl, wrapping her arms around her in a tight embrace. The purple haired girl only barely managed to keep her footing and hold onto her in response.

“Kiana?”

Her arms tightened around the purple haired girl. She burrowed her face into her shoulder.

“I missed you, Mei…”

“But… we’ve been seeing each other every day. Did you get enough sleep?”

“…”

“And… why are your eyes orange?”

Her eyes widened.

I… I’m…”

She left the comfort of Mei’s shoulder and faced her directly.

With baby blue eyes.

“I’m sorry for worrying you Mei. I was just a little tired, that’s all!”

Kiana flashed Mei one of her cheeky smiles, which seemed to calm the purple haired girl. She smiled warmly in response.

“That’s a relief.“

The two lovers gazed at each other for a second, still holding the embrace they shared.

“Well, let’s go have dinner, shall we?” Mei said.

“Yes! Mei-Senpai’s cooking!”

They both shared a chuckle over that.

“Whew… I’m exhausted…” Kiana said aloud.

Mei chuckled.

“Do you want to go to bed first? Don’t worry, I’ll be with you after I finish cleaning up.”

Kiana grew a small smile with what energy she had left.

“Ok. Don’t keep me waiting!”

She got up and started towards her and Mei’s bedroom.

She opened the door.

And her eyes took on their amber shading.

“What the hell did you do.”

“You mean this?”

Sitting on her bed was…

“Yes, Kiana. This.” She gestured widely across the room.

“Well…”

Kiana patted the spot next to her.

“Take a seat.”

“You will not order me-“

“Take a seat.” Kiana said with more animosity.

She reluctantly relented to the request.

“Now, explain.” She asked, not bothering to hide her anger.

“Well…”

“…”

“This was my life. Before you came around.”

“Mhm. And why am I here?”

“…don’t you see it?”

“See what.”

“This… joy.”

“…”

“The simple pleasure you can get from spending time with the ones you love. The happiness you get from being able to live life.”

“Worthless.”

“You don’t believe that.”

“…what?”

“You don’t really believe that, right?”

“…”

“Even you had the experience of being to live a normal life. YOU KNOW HOW PRECIOUS THESE MOMENTS ARE!”

“…”

“…do you have nothing to say for yourself?”

“…haha.”

“…”

“HAHAHAHAHAHA!”

“…”

“Oh, you’re funny.”

“…”

“I-“

“…”

“I’ve never known what a normal life is.”

“…Sirin-“

“Don’t call me that.”

“…”

“That’s the name of a girl who died a long time ago. I am simply her hatred manifested.”

“…”

“I didn’t experience those ‘joyful times’ as you call it.”

“…”

“I am simply the Herrscher of the Void, the instrument of gods will.”

“…ok.”

“…so don’t compare us. Don’t compare me to…”

“…”

“Whatever.”

“What do you want to be called then?”

“…what do you mean?”

“Well, you clearly don’t want to be called Sirin.”

Kiana let out a weak chuckle.

“I…”

Kiana’s eyes were slowly losing their light.

“I don’t know.”

Kiana smiled.

“Gotcha.”

Kiana collapsed.

Kiana?”

She was back in her apartment, in her shitty bed.

She checked her reflection in the window.

Her eyes were orange.
