Work Text:

The forecast said the weather would be warm, as it has been for the past few months. Alex didn’t expect anything else, when he left his apartment.

He heard some band would be playing a concert, and most of the people he knew had already told him they were going. It’s a small venue, right by the end of town sign. He hasn’t heard of them before, but he won’t miss out on anything by checking them out.

When he arrived, the Sun was still up, and he didn’t know the exact time it would start, but a surprising amount of people were already there. When he looked inside he saw a smaller crowd sitting around. Outside it was getting unusually chilly, he felt a slight shiver tingle down his spine. The Sun was covered by strange looking clouds.

As much as he hated typical summer weather, he also wasn’t looking forward to getting soaked in a storm on the way back.

Once he walked out from the shadow of the building, the wind hit him stronger, pulling at his hair and shirt.

“What the fuck…” he muttered to himself, not understanding where it came from.

He saw a man standing by the wall, but he didn’t look bothered by the cold at all. His hair was messy, brushed forward, covering some of his face. He was wearing rectangle shaped glasses, through which he stared off into nothing. He seemed rather pale, and there was just something about him that was almost unreal. Alex didn’t know what to make of him, as he stood there, with his arms crossed.

“What are you looking at?” he asked, without looking at Alex.

“Nothing, sorry man.” he felt embarrassed, not knowing he had noticed him before.

“It’s fine. Are you here to see that band?” he asked.

“Yeah, but I didn"t really expect the weather.”

He didn’t think much about what he’d wear, so he ended up with a pair of knee-length shorts, and some band shirt from his floor, which he was beginning to regret.

The man just chuckled, almost as if he knew this would happen. Maybe he did, he was prepared, wearing a dark grey zip-up hoodie over his shirt.

“You should stay though,” he said.

“Do you know them?”

“You could say that, sure. But I gotta go, it’s starting soon.”

“Mikey!” another man appeared around the corner, with the same look in his eyes, and just as pale, but with black hair.

“It was nice to meet you.” he said before turning around and leaving.

“You too.” Alex said, but it was too late.

He looked inside one more time, and after a few seconds of hesitation, stepped through the door. He found an empty spot not that far from the stage, and wondered if the man, Mikey, was there somewhere too.

Most people were chatting, but some were beginning to stare at the yet empty stage. Alex was slightly disappointed after not seeing Mikey anywhere, but he would probably end up running into him at some point anyways.

The man from earlier walked out onto the stage from behind the black curtain. He changed the height of the microphone, while some other men walked out. Alex watched as they lined up, leaving the shadow, their faces illuminated by the stage light.

Mikey was there. No longer wearing the zip-up, he was holding a bass guitar. He adjusted the strap, and stood there, looking down. Alex felt that strange feeling again, that he just could not turn his head away from him.

“...are My Chemical Romance! Thank you everyone for coming!” was all he caught from what the man yelled into the microphone, before they started playing their first song.

To his surprise, Alex did really like it, but he couldn’t get himself to focus on anything but Mikey. His face was mostly covered by his hair falling forward and the shadows from the lighting, but Alex watched as his fingers moved across the strings of the bass, sort of mesmerized by it.

Mikey looked up for a second, and Alex could’ve sworn their eyes met, but he went back to staring at the floor right after.

“And if they get me and the Sun goes down into the ground
And if they get me, take this spike to my heart and”

He watched them start the third song, and it almost seemed like there was a slight smile in the corner of Mikey’s lips, and seeing that made him melt. Alex loved watching him play, as if he had casted some strange spell on him earlier, and now he was just inexplicably drawn to him.

He never wanted it to end, he was afraid if Mikey walked off that stage they’d never see each other again. Alex was never one to develop crushes quickly, but the moment he first saw him, just during those few sentences of conversation, he knew he didn’t want to say goodbye to him just yet.

When they finished their last song of the set, Mikey looked back up at Alex once again, before walking behind the curtains.

Alex had to talk to him again. He left the venue, hoping to still find Mikey there somewhere. He couldn’t have left so fast.

It was dark outside, and still cold. The clouds haven’t budged since, none of the Moon’s light was getting through them. The only source of light was coming from inside, casting a subtle glow over everything. He walked around, trying to get to the back. If Mikey was anywhere, it had to be there.

“I almost thought you wouldn’t come,” he said, when he spotted Alex.

“You were amazing. The whole band, of course, I mean-” he was surprised by how nervous he was.

“Thank you.” Mikey’s reply cut him off, but he smiled.

“Are you from around here? I don’t think I’ve seen you before.” Alex asked, but what he really wanted to know was if he would see him again or not.

“Not really. We’ve been to a few places around here now, but we are still on the go. Why?”

“Just wondering if I’ll see you around.” Alex realized there wasn’t much to lose, if Mikey didn’t want anything to do with him then they just won’t see each other again.

“I mean, I’m here now.” Mikey said, leaning slightly closer to Alex.

Alex pressed his lips against Mikey’s, who kissed him back. He put his hands in his hair, running them through it, and at the same time pushing it out of his face. Mikey put his hand on the side of Alex’s face, who still remembered looking at it earlier.

“Can you keep a secret?” Mikey asked, his face still only about a single centimeter from Alex’s.

“Sure,”

He couldn’t pinpoint the moment it happened, almost as if they’ve been there the whole time, but when he looked at Mikey’s lips, about to kiss him again, he could see his fangs.

Alex stared into his eyes for a moment, before kissing him again, his hand still tangled in Mikey’s hair. He didn’t even know this would be possible in real life, but all he cared about in that moment was how close they were to each other.

“So you’re not scared?” Mikey asked mid-making out.

“Not a bit.” Alex continued.
