Summary
Elizabeth wonders if anyone else has ever made him look at them this way. Because he truly looks at her. He sees her.
“Jack, will you marry me?” Elizabeth asks within one breath.
His jaw drops - quite a sight for Captain Jack Sparrow to gape at a woman in surprise and astonishment. Before he gets his chance to answer, still gazing at her, they’re dragged back into the murderous quarrel, with more of Jones’ fellows.
“I don’t think it’s the best time, Lizzy!”

will is not the one to propose marriage during the maelstrom final battle.

“Do not you dare die now, Jack.” She eyes him, turning from the soft wife into every inch of the threatening pirate she was at heart all along. “You have exhausted your stakes of opportunities for demise in this lifetime.”
“In this instance, let’s keep our fingers crossed, luv,” He pulls her in once again and kisses her quickly, chastely but sweetly. “Time to depart, darling. Someone has to get to that accursed chest.”
The hat is returned on top of his head, with a smooth flow of her hand.
“Return to me,” Elizabeth calls out after him. “In one piece!”
“I’ll give it me the best shot.”
Just like that, he sets off in a run across the deck, looking for a rope or any different yet still imaginative way to transport himself above the maelstrom into the Jones’ ship. Before disappearing, he looks back through his shoulder and yells, “I love you, wife!”
Elizabeth smiles, and if miracles happened, only that genuine stretch on her lips would clear the sky and stop the downpour from drowning them all into the swirl. The sea is opening beneath them and the enemy seems to never end from coming, and her arms feel so heavy and strained, but that smile? Oh, that smile never leaves.
She goes back to the fray, fighting for her life, without Jack next to her.
If should they see another dawn…
If they do, she’s not letting go of him.
