Work Text:
All the shifters in the group found that shifting into their other forms would help them to release their stress and that included Mingi. While he would never be able to shift into his real size which currently was just larger than your standard house, he enjoyed becoming the equivalent to a larger husky.
Their management came up with the brilliant idea to have Mingi receive training to become an official service dog which wasn’t hard for him at all. He passed through the process very easily, especially with the fact that he understood human speech. With his heightened senses he could detect a wide range of things, different allergens, high or low blood sugar, if someone was about to pass out which in this line of work was highly useful.
Thankfully, he’s never had to use any of those skills very often. If anything, he was more used to behaving as an emotional support animal but he never hesitated with any of his other roles. There has only been a few times where he had to pull one of his members to the floor before they brought themselves down.
His worst ‘client’ was definitely Hongjoong. Even with the man being part Archdemon, he forgot himself that his body was still human and had needs. Their fans never failed to try and remind him even when some of his group mates had given up. They take the small victories they get with him.
They were currently in promotion season once more and at 4.30am, their dorm was more active than most places currently were.
They were all doing alright for time other than getting Mingi out of his bed where he was currently clinging onto Hongjoong and growling at anyone who came even close to them. No one was entirely sure what was going on with him, and Hongjoong was just glad that he had managed to get himself changed before he was dragged into the bed.
“We have to meet downstairs in 10 minutes.” Yunho appeared in the door and tried to assess the situation they were currently in. “Do you think you could get him changed? Has he even actually said a word to you?” Yunho tried to get closer only to hear a rumbling coming from the mass of blankets on a bed.
“He’s not said a word. I’ll try my best.” Hongjoong sighed and looked at the big puppy that was curled up over his lap. “Right, come on now that’s enough from you.”
He was only met with a huff as Mingi buried himself deeper into Hongjoong’s lap.
“Don’t start with me now.” Hongjoong started to stand up and wasn’t deterred by the growls that were starting to get louder. That was until the mass started to rise from the bed and walked towards Hongjoong who was rummaging through Mingi’s wardrobe to get him something to wear for their car ride over.
Hongjoong didn’t even have enough time to brace himself before he was being brought to the floor and had a massive husky lying over his lap.
All of them knew better than to ignore Mingi’s signs but when you’re stressed out like this it was easy just to keep moving on and getting tasks done.
”Min I’m alright. Are you sure you’re alerting for the correct person?”
He only huffed and kept him down even when the smaller man tapped into some of his potential to try and move the gentle giant.
“Hey, quit it.” Hongjoong snapped when Mingi started to nip at his fingers and they were interrupted by the door opening.
”Captain? What’s going on?” It was Jongho who walked over to them. “Are you ok?”
”I feel fi-“
And then he was out, his head landing on top of Mingi’s own who huffed in his own amusement. Then he got over himself and turned to watch Hongjoong carefully. Jongho was still standing in the room but left Mingi to do his job and waited in case he was to be called in to help out.
Mingi moved Hongjoong to the floor and picked up his legs to lay under them so that his legs were well elevated. He still kept his head sticking out so that he could watch Hongjoong.
”Did you manage to get him up?” Yunho’s voice could be heard as he approached the room. Mingi’s head snapped over and Jongho opened the door and was about to tell Yunho what was happening when he was batted out of the way.
“Oh…”
Jongho let out a sigh and turned to face the griffin. “I was going to tell you but you had already barged in here.”
”Has he just passed out? Any of that jerking stuff? Should I let the manager know what’s going on? We have to head out like now or we’re really going to be late.”
”It’s a myoclonic seizure and no, but he’s passed out so we’re just waiting for him to come to. The two of them might not come to the pre-recording or at all but we’ll take it easy.”
Yunho nodded and turned back around to leave but not before walking back over and petting Mingi briefly. “Don’t worry, you’ll be getting plenty of princess treatment tonight.”
Mingi huffed and licked Yunho's hand which gave the taller some more encouragement to leave. In his rush to leave, his wings nearly knocked Jongho over before he got himself together and folded them away so they morphed back into his body.
Jongho regained his balance and focused back on the more urgent matter at hand. “He’s not supposed to be the clumsy one.” Jongho muttered and walked over when he heard some grumbling from the floor.
Mingi stayed in his position and let Jongho talk to their stubborn captain. “Don’t try to sit up. You’re still in Mingi’s room.” Jongho crouched down to talk to him better. “You passed out.”
Hongjoong fought with him for a little longer before a firm hand kept him on the floor. “Stay here if you know what’s good for you.”
”Yes captain.” He muttered sarcastically and closed his eyes again as Jongho walked back out of the room to get a drink with electrolytes. “Mingi, are you below my feet?”
He got a snort as his answer which had him laughing a little. “Yes yes I know I should’ve listened to you.” He muttered and let out a sigh. “I’ve not done that twitching thing have I?”
“It’s a myoclonic seizure.” Jongho appeared back at his side with the drink and slowly assisted him into sitting up as Mingi came away from his legs and shifted back into his human form.
Mingi kept to himself and finished picking out clothes that he was going to wear since he was currently completely without them. He got on the jumper and trousers that Hongjoong had pulled out for him and went back to the floor to help his captain.
”How are we feeling now? Jongho you can go and get in the van with the others and tell them to send us one back as soon as they can. He’s not doing the pre-recording.” Mingi said and Jongho nodded and ran downstairs to pass on his message.
Hongjoong already started to protest and stand up only for Mingi to look him up and down to stop him. “Fine.” He huffed and continued to sip at his drink. “Before you ask, I've been sleeping better and eating when I can.”
”Those are very vague answers but I’ll not bother you for more. You just need to remember that your body is human even if your mind and spirit aren’t fully.”
”For someone so clumsy and prides themself on being called an idiot you sure can be wise sometimes.”
”You know that’s only for cameras and when I’m not working.” Mingi smiled and leaned his head onto Hongjoong’s shoulder. “I’ll wait for Yunho to make up for his words.”
”You know he will.” Hongjoong turned his head and kissed the top of Mingi’s fluffy hair. “You’re just a big puppy aren’t you.”
Mingi and Hongjoong eventually moved back up to Mingi’s bed and the smaller man started to doze off once more. The second van came for them and Mingi carried Hongjoong downstairs and into the van.
He made sure he had his vest with him just in case but he was sure that it would be fine for the rest of the day.
And true to his word Mingi was treated like an absolute princess for the rest of the day while everyone watched Hongjoong like a hawk. They made him go to bed exactly at 10pm but their captain didn’t even fight them on it.
Mingi knew he would be needed again when someone else was making stupid decisions about their health but he wouldn’t have it any other way.
