Work Text:
Buck's smile is bright as Maddie and Chim kiss. He claps from behind his father and when his phone buzzes, he checks it.
I'm here!
Buck smiles at the text he got from Tommy Kinard. He stuffs his phone away and he walks off. His stomach drops in the best way possible when an ashy and sooty Tommy enters the hospital in his turnouts.
"Sorry I'm late," Tommy says as he walks toward Buck. "That fire was a beast."
Buck approaches the pilot/firefighter, appreciative, his eyes glancing at Tommy's lips here and there. Then he makes a decision.
"So are you."
Buck acts on impulse and he kisses Tommy passionately. Tommy makes a surprised noise and a small moan as his hand instinctively rests on Buck's waist and pulls him closer as Buck's hand gently rests on the back of his neck until they pull apart. Tommy is stunned, so Buck gives him a second.
"C'mon!" Buck chirps after a beat. "Don't want to miss all of it."
"Evan," Tommy says gently, "you have a little...."
Buck reaches and wipes at his chin when Tommy gestures to it. He brings his hand back and sees soot and ash. He grinds and he drags Tommy along.
"Look who almost made it," Buck announces.
"Congratulations, you two," Tommy says. "Sorry I missed the ceremony."
"Thanks, Tommy," Chimney replies perkily from the bed. "Looks like you were..." He looks between Tommy and Buck, his eyebrows raised, "Busy."
Buck is smiling. "Cake?" he says to Tommy and the pilot nods and Buck moves through the crowd energetically.
"You ready to deal with all his energy?" Eddie asks as he walks over.
Tommy watches as Buck gets tackled in an excited hug by both Christopher and Maddie. "Yeah, I am," he replies.
"Just don't ever give him a clipboard unless you being a submissive is something you're into," Hen teases as she walks over, leaving Karen with Bobby and Athena.
Tommy chuckles and Buck soon comes over and he gives Tommy cake.
"Eddie, Chris wants to stay with me this weekend," Buck says. "I got the new Mortal Kombat game if he can..."
"He can," Eddie interrupts. 4
"Great." Buck then pulls Tommy and the man narrowly misses dropping his cake.
"Tommy will be good for Buck," Hen says. "He needed someone who can handle him and the craziness of this life and his own life."
"Yeah, I agree," Eddie replies. "Tommy's better than all of his ex-girlfriends."
Hen hums and they watch as Tommy greets Maddie and talks to Chimney. She likes that Tommy isn't a stranger to the 118. He's grown a lot since Hen first met him and she knows he will be good to Buck because Tommy does have a rocky past before he came out. And she can tell that Tommy genuinely likes Buck and Buck looks extremely happy, even when Phillip and Margaret Buckley approach them to meet Tommy. She glances over at Eddie, who looks beyond proud as he watches Buck and Tommy, and she smiles before she goes to kiss her wife.
