I'm only a fool for you

Work Text:

Despite popular belief, Aventurine did not sleep with just anyone she had a passing interest in. No, she preferred to take her time with choosing her bedroom partners, getting to know them for at least a few weeks. Sure most of the time both her and her temporary partner would be gaining something more financial out of the exchange but the companionship was nice while it lasted.

And also contrary to popular belief, Aventurine did not sleep with men. She kept to her preferences of women strictly and happily turned down the men who attempted to pursue her.

That’s how it was, she was pursued, she returned the affections and for at least a few weeks she had a loyal companion.

Never did she think she’d be the pursuer rather than the pursued.

The intelligentsia Guild was one of the more attention heavy investments from the IPC. The scholars provided progress the organisation needed and they were for the most part easy to work with, most of them just wanted their funding and to move on.

Why Jade felt the need for Aventurine to join her when she wouldn’t even be attending the meeting the blonde would never know.

She sighed, making her boredom known as best she could while remaining polite as the older woman arranged her meeting notes.

“If you’re truly that bored Aven dear, ” Jade said with a chuckle “You can go see how the library is doing.”

Aventurine blinked.

“Me? A library?” She laughed “surely you’re joking Jade?”

The pink haired woman side eyed her with a raised eyebrow, daring her to say more.

“Fine fine I’ll try the library,” she mumbled before standing up and walking out of the room. Time to find the library she supposed.

Aventurine sighed. Why was she here again?

Oh right, mommy issues and an inability to say no to Jade.

She found the library in question easily, the signs giving it away. Opening the doors as quietly as she could, Aventurine gave the room a look best she could.

The room was vast, each wall covered with shelves upon shelves of books, with windows and skylights showcasing the starry abyss of the space outside.

Aventurine wandered a bit, taking in the sight. It certainly was impressive with the white walls and golden accents. Her heels clicked against the tile floors that lined the aisles. She made her way to the stairs and was thankful for the sudden switch to carpet from tile making her steps quieter. Why the guild made that design choice? She didn’t know or care at the moment.

The area she’d reached was more of a study area, with desks and booths for studying scattered about. At each desk sat at least one scholar studying texts intensely, taking notes or typing. No one paid any mind to the blonde woman.

Crossing her arms, Aventurine made her way over to a map on the wall. She studied it, finding it to be a very helpful map of the whole library… in tiny unreadable text. Great. She sighed in frustration before attempting to squint at the unreadable words.

“Can I help you?” a voice called out from behind her. Aventurine jolted slightly before turning on her heel. She opened her mouth to speak.

“Actu-,” Her words caught in her throat.

The source of the voice was a woman, a very very very beautiful woman at that. She was sitting at one of the desks, her legs crossed and expression sharp.

She had indigo hair tied into a loose bun, loose bangs framing her face wonderfully, some of it falling over one eye. A gold laurel sat on the side of her head. Her skin was a lovely tan, warm and looking soft to the touch.

Dawn red eyes stared intently, a ring of gold around the pupil making them seem all the more warm. Red makeup had been carefully painted around the sunsets, extenuating their sharpness. Soft looking lips were painted with a light pink gloss.

Her chest was large, looking soft enough to be a pillow and perfect for smothering someone's face in- (no no bad Aventurine not in public). A small waist was magnified by a skin tight black shirt, the top buttons undone to show a hint of cleavage and a golden ornament holding the top buttons together presumably.

The shirt was sleeveless, showing off muscular arms with black fingerless gloves on her hands. Very big hands that could easily circle Aventurine’s waist (bad! Bad Aventurine!)

Dark blue pants hugged muscular legs, a black strap sat snug around one of her thighs. Golden sandals with blue gemstones adorned her feet.

“Can I help you?” the woman repeated, her voice deep and smooth and oh dear Aeons Aventurine should not be feeling weak at the knees in public.

“Apologises,” she managed to recover “I was simply wandering and got lost in thought, apologies if I made you uncomfortable miss…,” she trailed off.

The dark haired beauty scoffed while rolling her eyes. (She could roll her eyes in anothe- nope nope nope not in public).

“Dr Veritas Ratio, you must be from the IPC?” wow, straight to the point it seems.

“Aventurine of the Stonehearts,” the blonde introduced, pressing her hand to her heart as she gave a little bow. Ratio scoffed again.

“Ah, so the gambler.”

Aventurine chuckled.

“Guilty as charged doc.”

“Refrain from calling me that absurd nickname,” the other woman ordered before standing up and oh, oh she was tall, the muscles in her arms strained slightly as she steadied herself. She stood about a head taller than Aventurine, the blonde would have to stand on her tiptoes slightly to kiss her even in heels.

“Hmm I don’t think I will,” Aventurine chucked “doc.”

“If you insist on being so…” the scholar pondered for a moment “...idiotic then maybe you should take this as a sign to leave.”

Leave? When this was the promised view? As if!

“My apologise doctor, I was simply lost, surely you could help this… idiot,” she held back a laugh with a grin “find her way around this place?”

Ratio sighed, massaging her temples slightly. She looked to the desk where she had been sitting where a small collection of books lay, waiting to be read.

“I suppose I can postpone my research… my question is what would be in it for me gambler?” She tilted her head slightly, exposing a very very blank canvas of a neck (no, bad Aventurine).

Aventurine was suddenly glad she had worn a skirt that day, she highly doubted she could explain away with the sword excuse even with her luck. Damn it how had even gambler become attractive in her voice.

Instead of making her….hard problem known however, she instead adjusted her hat and pulled off her sunglasses.

“Well… what would you want in exchange for a small tour of this place? I can offer anything within reason dear doctor~.”

“Anything?” Ratio repeated slowly. Her brow furrowed in thought before she leaned against the desk behind her. Her legs were crossed, emphasising the muscle.

“I suppose… I could entertain your frivolous demands in exchange for something you could easily assist with…” she trailed off, staring into some unknown distance. Ratio’s expression softened for a few moments before snapping back to the shape gaze of before.

“Alright gambler,” she stood up and began to organise her research “I simply request you take those Aeon’s awful glasses off, they offer you nothing aside from vision impairment in here.”

Aventurine blinked, then chuckled.

“Whatever you say doctor,” she reached up and pulled the glasses off. Nothing much changed for her vision wise but Ratio’s sharp features became clearer, some minute details on her skin now making themselves known. The scattering of small freckles on her nose looked like stars, an area of moles on her shoulder like a constellation.

Ratio seemed contemplative, staring right at Aventurine’s eyes.

“See something you like doc?” The blonde teased despite the nerves building up.

“Like isn’t the word of use…” the doctor mumbled before continuing to sort the books on the desk into a pile. A glint of gold caught Aventurine’s eyes as Ratio picked it up. She placed the glasses on her face and oh . Oh shit. The gold complimented her face, bringing attention to her sharp cheekbones…

Do not get a hard on in public, do not get a hard on in public, do not get a hard on in public, do not-

“I suppose we should start our tour right here on the ground floor after I return these books,” the dark woman suggested, her voice low and sending shivers down Aventurine’s spine.

“W-whatever you say doctor, you’re the tour guide,” stuttering? Since when did she do that? Control yourself Aventurine you’re a stoneheart for Giathara’s sake!

Ratio bent over to pick up her pile of books. Her pants stretched over her ass, emphasising the round shape perfectly. Aventurine was not going to survive.

“-and oh Aeons her thighs! Please I want them to squeeze my head. May Giathatra be thanked for her blessing!” Aventurine ranted. Her cheeks were flushed bright red, several empty bottles of alcohol scattered on the counter top in front of her.

Topaz looked ready to quit her job. Jade looked smug and interested.

“And and and!” the blonde continued “She is so freaking smart?! But so kind about it somehow?! Aghhhh she’s perfect! Aeons, I am gay!” She dropped her head onto the counter with a thud and made several indescribable noises.

“Jade?”

“Yes Topaz?”

“Can I negotiate a raise for this?”

“Unfortunately no darling.”

“Aeons fucking damnit.”
