Chapter Text
September 2007
As they walked along the long dorm corridor, Icys eyes latched onto the sign that said “Winx”- She didn't need to have finished college to know that’d be where her arch-enemies slept. What surprised her was when they came to a halt at the door next to it with the name “Icy” beside it. They had to be joking…
“This will be you… Dinner is in an hour…” Bloom got out, somewhat awkwardly and somewhat with that spite of anger. Without waiting for another word, she all but legged it down the hall, her hair swishing by her waist. Icy watched her leave…before shaking her head, and entering her new home. The Lights were dimmed, making the pink walls look more Magenta, it reminded her of Stormy- She wondered where she was now. Probably somewhere less pink. Lucky sod.
The room she’d entered was more of a living area. On the far left, a large TV hung, paired with a semi circle couch facing it in deep blue- but that may have been because of the lights. There were the usual tables, bookcases.. And flower decorations.. It made Icy pull a disgusted face. The room itself had three doors, the one she came in from, and two more, one of which led to a balcony outside.
She made a beeline for it, swinging open the double doors and standing out in the fresh air. For the first time in a couple of months, she was finally able to breathe.. Alone, no one watching her every move. She lent onto the railing and felt a strange tingly sensation take over her. With curiosity, she reached a hand out, only to get a shock, prompting her to pull back. She shook her hand in pain- They were clearly taking precautions.
She left the doors open as she went back inside, this time heading for the door, on the opposite side to the TV. Upon entering, she found a quaint bedroom, with another door to the side. The blue bed looked almost like a cloud, she couldn't help but flop down onto it.
She rested for a good, long moment, simply listening to the ticking of the clock, and the sound of birds outside. To be left alone was to find true Peace- at least for now. Soon, the clogs would start ticking once more, and the plans would begin to hatch. A small part of her, the reasonable part, told her not to bother. However, the cunning and ambitious told herself that there must be a way out- and by god she was going to find it.
Eventually she dragged herself back up to her feet, and made her way to her the final door- opening it to find a fully stocked bathroom… She let out a surprisingly dreamy sigh, and smirked. A Hot shower, just what the witch ordered.
Not ten minutes later, she sat on the floor of the shower- the hot water fell onto her back. It was almost hot enough to burn. She missed her magic- she missed being able to turn the heat right up- and have it turn to ice as it fell down.
She could hear the door to her apartment being knocked upon- no doubt she was late for dinner.. Yet, she didn't bother to answer.. She just sat under the water till the knocking stopped… Hopefully they would leave her alone. If she focused real hard- she could almost feel the cold… But it wasn't enough.
She longed for the embrace of ice- Of Darkness- of stormy defiance. Yet, around her was warmth, and love, and gooey sappy bullshit. Nextdoor was the winx club, and bloom- And everything she dreaded- The dawning that this was her life now, crashed down on her far harder than the droplets on her back. A Weaker woman might cry at such an imposition… She thanked her devilish upbringing that she was not a weak woman.
With a long, drawn out sigh to calm herself, she stood up on wobbly feet, turned off the shower, wrapped herself in a towel, and wandered outside. The sun was already beginning to set, casting a vibrant sea of red, orange and hints of purple across the sky. She creeped up to the still open doors, casting one last glance out into the wild before pulling them shut.
When she turned around- she found Bloom, sat on her couch, staring at her with wide eyes, a tray of food before her… Bloom stood up slowly, and Icy tightened her grip on her towel. “What are you doing in my room.” She bit out, almost like a hiss.
“I em- I brought you food… You didn't show up to Dinner… Miss Faragonda was worried.” Of course the old crow was worried- god forbid icy be planning an escape- or worse- having a shower. Her heart suddenly ached after that thought- Faragonda was worried, yet Bloom wasn't? Pff, what should it matter what a pixie like her thought.
“Noted. Get out.” Icy’s eyes shined as bright as diamonds in the dim room. She was in no mood for company- In another world, she’d blast bloom into another dimension… She was never going to get used to this helplessness.
Bloom shrugged and made her way to her door. “Miss Faragonda wants you in her office at Nine…” with that, she slammed the door behind her- prompting icy to flinch ever so slightly, her heart pounding in her chest. She plonked herself down, exactly where bloom had just sat, and looked down at the meak chicken and mash- She supposed it was better than starving…
