Chapter Text

“We’ve found a house.” Tim starts at breakfast. Effectively silencing all conversations. He feels six pairs of eyes on him, he ignores them all, remaining focused on Hiro, more specifically that his son likes the food. Every day he thanks Alfred for making foods that Hiro seems to like. When no one speaks he continues, “It’s in Burnside.” He expands, “Actually it’s about five minutes down the road from Babs.” She was the one that told him it was for sale. “It’s nice, three-bedroom, two bathroom. And it’s within the local school district. Crime is low. Or- Low for Gotham.” He continues. “We’re going to move there within the next month.” He finally turns to his family.

“I knew this was coming.” Bruce starts, “Good for you.” He smiles.

“Yeah. Just- don’t be a stranger. I want you guys here every Sunday for Sunday Brunch.” Dick smiles.

“Oh, I wouldn’t miss it.” Tim responds easily, and truthfully, he doesn’t plan on drifting from his family. Not again.

---

“Oh hey.” Kon startles at the camera before wiping his expression into a smile. Tim clicks the camera before bounding off. He looks over the picture of Kon building the toddler bed as he proceeds down the hall.

He peeks onto the master, snapping a picture of Jason and Bruce building the bed. And going to the living room.

“Would it look better pushed a bit further back?” Dick asks, more to himself than anything. Bernard looks over from where he was stocking the kitchen. Tim walks next to Dick, tilting his head at the couch.

“I think it’s ok.” Tim decides, walking around the couch. “But we will see once everything else goes in.” Dick nods. Grabbing out a box labelled ‘living room.’

While they both work on organising the space Damian comes back, Hiro walking next to him.

“Welcome back.” Tim smiles. Hiro runs into his lap. “Did you have fun with your uncle?” Hiro nods.

“Lots.” He agrees. Tim smiles.

“That’s nice. Let’s see how your room is coming along.” They both go to his room, where Kon had finished with the bed and had moved onto some shelving. Tim opens one of the boxes and takes it to the already built bookshelf. “Here. How about we both find all the books and we can put them up here yeah.” Hiro nods before burying himself in the box, Tim sifts through, grabbing out the books at the bottom.

That night they have a housewarming party, it’s closer to watching a movie together with takeout for dinner, moving is a laborious activity. What can he say.

The day after, the Kents come over for lunch, and to formally meet Bernard and Hiro, they had heard of them both but had yet to meet them.

The next day Young Justice crash their place. Staying the night. Bart promises to make it a regular thing. Tim begs him not to. He at least wants a warning. Cassie insists they won’t have to if they actually visit the tower more often.

After getting settled Bernard begins to look for a job, he finds one as a chef for a local restaurant.

Kon and Tim don’t get jobs, Tim spending most of his days working on cases before he goes back out on the field. Kon remains on standby if he is ever needed in metropolis, but other than that he  just stays home.

Dick removed the warning on his file, allowing him to go back on the field whenever he wanted. It takes another two weeks before he is ready to go back on the field. But when he does it is so worth it. He cuts down significantly on his patrol hours, mostly just picking up case work and hanging out with Oracle, he only started patrolling once or twice a week.

His first patrol back is with Nightwing. It was a stakeout, so they end up just chatting the whole time.

After that he shadows Red Hood helping him with a drug ring bust.

Then he joins Batman on a regular patrol.

And then Robin joins him on what was originally going to be his first solo. He doesn’t mind.

And after every patrol he crosses the river over to Burnside. More often than not His family are all fast asleep. Sometimes Kon stays up late binging some show. Sometimes he doesn’t. Either way his nights end the same.

With him curling into bed with the loves of his life, his son sleeping in the other room and his family just a phone call away.

Maybe Ra’s would come back. Maybe his kill count will catch up to him, maybe, maybe, maybe. But as he drifts into the soft kaleidoscope of sleep, he finds his worries feeling further than they have in a very long time.
