“Okay so I want to abdicate the throne and, what’s the word, abolish the monarchy?” Lance said, the sentence turning up at the end like he was asking a question rather than saying maybe the most life-changing sentence George had ever heard.
“What?” George asked again, his voice sounding high and strangled even to his own ears.
What was going on here? Abolishing the monarchy? Just like that? The words didn’t even compute in George’s brain because it was so preposterous.
