She was what inhabited the dark. The worst nightmares that a young mind could conjure to kill the darkness with fears and anxieties. A shapeshifter, as the dark could be, showing something different at each moment, never allowing the unknown to become familiar and thus lose some of its potential to frighten. For so long, her entire existence, that was all that she was, all that she could be.
But then her King was gone and could no longer give orders, and there was no one to tell her what she was supposed to be. She was tired of the darkness, of living in it and of embodying it. She was tired of causing fear, even if she knew that fear was what needed to be overcome.
She was a shapeshifter by nature, and she wanted to change. Away from the darkness and into the light, to be a dream.
