Chapter Text
What's not the best thing that ever happened to Peter is waking up in a lonely empty space after passing out from a hemorrhage.
He tried to wake up more than once to no avail, which means that his body is very tired and he cannot wake up, or that he has already reached the hospital and they have anesthetized him.......or that he has already died.
Does this mean he will be stuck here forever if he dies?
Luckily, the other Peter appeared after a while and started talking and entertaining Peter... until he suddenly disappeared out of nowhere
Then he reappeared again, looking pale like a terrifying vampire
Then he disappeared again
And came back???
Peter started to feel like he was losing his mind when he heard that Betty swallowed a bunch of pills before he suddenly woke up gasping
Many hands were trying to hold him, and the voices were loud.
He found himself asleep again.
This time, he looked around and noticed the change in the shape of their belongings.
'Why do you look like that?' Betty asked.
"You look like that too." Peter stared at Betty's face, which wasn't getting any better, but rather worse.
'Are you sick? '
“I don’t know…” Peter was afraid to think of the answer, but he had to.
“If we were both sick, there would be a reason for it to be this bad to affect us here, we were always sick, and it didn't affect our being here."
'I was always sick,' Betty said.
“That’s the point.” Peter nodded before Betty disappeared, and he woke up too, this time to the doctors’ screams.
“Nothing’s working!”
“Where’s the injection?!….”
“…Prepare a cold shower!”
"It can't be....his temperature is dropping and rising. A bath won't help him!"
"So what?!...."
He fainted again and realized the seriousness of their situation.
'Damn.'
"Yes, I woke up, and the doctors were screaming over me that nothing was working... "Peter shook his head.
'Are you...are you dying?...' Betty said fearfully.
"Just me?"
Peter noticed Betty's realization and the shock and fear on his face.
'No...no...do you mean we look different because we...'
"Maybe because our body is about to die. This is our existence...this consciousness is collapsing...look around you."
He saw the look of shock on Betty's face before he collapsed to the ground.
'I...I...I don't want to die...' Betty cried, and Peter stood there motionless and then disappeared again.
This time, everything was silent, and all he could hear was the strange buzzing in his head.
He fell asleep again and found Betty looking at him in panic.
'May came...and found me convulsing on the floor... She will see me die... She will suffer forever because of me...'
Peter didn't stand up this time and walked over to Betty, who was about half a head shorter than him and hugged him.
It didn't take anything for Betty to collapse into the hug and burst into tears.
"It's okay, everything will be fine...."
How do you know?
"I just know."
Betty sank into the embrace and they remained silently holding on like that the whole time, each of them returning to hug the other every time he woke up and returned until the two of them settled down without waking up again
'Do you think we're dead now?' Betty said from inside the hug.
"I don't know... it seems more comfortable than going back and forth."
Betty let out a small laugh before raising his face and looking at Peter seriously.
"What?"
'I have a math test tomorrow'
'Huh?'
'I haven't studied yet'
"You're first in school. You don't need to study." Peter put Betty's head back into his lap and patted him on the back.
'I still have to study.....'
"Shut up if you stay alive. The doctor will definitely give you a day off tomorrow,"
Betty finally fell silent and held Peter quietly before whispering again in a hesitant voice,
'Are you scared?'
"...."
'You're not?'
Of course, he was scared, damn he was terrified, but Peter was too mature to say it out loud at this time
"I'm worried... about this situation. "
Betty laughed again.
'You can't admit that you're scared. We're dying or maybe already dead. Just say it.' He said calmly.
“I…I’m scared….Are you happy now?” Peter sighed in annoyance.
‘No, I actually want to confess something too….’
Peter remained silent as he listened patiently.
'I... was... no. I still am... I'm jealous of you..'
'Because I don't go to school?' Peter said in an amused voice.
'Not that!...maybe sometimes when I'm lazy and don't want to get up.' He lifted his head from the lap and moved away a little and looked at Peter's face as he spoke.
'Anyway, it's not that, I just.... I've been feeling this for a long time... I had a strange feeling that I didn't understand when you first talked about your mother... I tried to ignore it but I couldn't and then... your father'
"To be jealous because my parents are alive?" Peter tilted his head and looked at Betty's sad face
'Yeah... I thought it wasn't fair because I don't even have one, and you have both while I only have Aunt May and Uncle Ben... and it's mean to them too because they really did everything they could for me even though we're not blood related, but I can't help but think that if my parents were there...'
"They would have done more than that?"
Betty nodded and looked at Peter in fear and silence, then finally dared to speak. 'So?'
"So?"
'Aren't you angry?'
"Why would I be mad at you?" 'Because...because I'm jealous of you and envy your life'
"Peter, a person always loves what he doesn't have. Maybe if I were in your place and had a boy in my dreams telling me that he had the family that I didn't have, I would also feel jealous and even hateful."
My house stopped and looked at Peter in shock and started fiddling with the hem of his shirt with his hands. 'But I'm bad... I envy you. This is wrong, and I can't even stop..'
“Betty, you’re literally making me feel jealous because you feel guilty, you can’t be bad, it’s out of your biological makeup, maybe I’m evil, but you?”
Betty smiled shyly and covered his face, and muttered
‘We’re the same person…’
Peter continued and ignored his words.
"Everyone has their bad side, that's okay. The fault is not having that side, but denying it. You know what? Even I get jealous of you sometimes," Peter continued in a quiet voice .
'Me? Impossible.' Betty shook his head. "I'm serious."
'Oh...I always knew you wanted to go to school.' Betty smiled wickedly.
"Yuck, it's not that!" Peter took a deep breath.
"It's about Ben,"
'Ben?'
“Yeah, I love my Ben… I mean, he’s great, he visits us on weekends and helps us out when we need him, but he’s never been there for me like your Ben, I didn’t see him every day, he didn’t take me to the tennis courts… I know you don’t like it but I really wanted to go to these things, I know they’re silly and stupid things but… I’ve never had a dad, I mean I found out about it two years ago when I realized it on my own but I don’t know anything about him other than his name and his info on the internet and it’s awful to even think about trying to get close to him, Ben was the only person I’d ever been close to like that but he wasn’t as close as your Ben and I just felt… jealous.”
'Oh.' Betty paused as if realizing something, and the two stared at each other in silence.
'I understand now... I thought your real father would be better and you two would be close quickly and easily if you wanted to talk to him....'
"Blood isn't everything."
'I understand now '
Peter finally stood up and looked around at the mess.
"Well, if we're going to be here much longer, maybe we should tidy up the place."
Betty nodded and got up.

Peter opened his eyes when he had just finished arranging his desk in the void. He looked beside him and found a hand holding his hand. His fingers moved, and his mother, who was staring at the ceiling, turned her head and looked at him in shock.
“Are you okay? How do you feel?”
As for the previous pain, Peter was currently in heaven.
"I'm fine."
His mother gently stroked his head and pressed a button next to the bed, then returned and kissed his head, and the doctor appeared moments later
"You awake as we can see "
Peter nodded.
"How are you feeling?"
"Good, what happened?"
"You arrived here injured. We operated on you to remove a large piece of glass from your back.."
Peter didn't care about the doctor continuing his words and interrupted him.
"Why was I in so much pain, and you said Nothing works ? "
Peter's mother looked at the doctor with a sharp look and the doctor and nurses smiled nervously.
"I don't know what you're talking about... Maybe you're imagining it because of the fever. Your temperature rose because of an infection from the wounds, it seems, but your condition has stabilized. Don't worry, rest now."
"How long have I been here...?"
"They brought you in yesterday, it's been a day already"
"When will I get out?"
"It will take a week until...."
"I want to go home today." Peter squeezed his mother's hand.
"You can't be injured. You're still...-"
"I'm fine. I want to leave."
"I'm sorry, you can't leave without your guardian's permission." The doctor replied confidently.
"I allow it." Mary said suddenly coldly.
"Ah, you'll have to sign it, it's your responsibility...."
"Where are the papers?" She said in annoyance, and the doctor backed away under her terrifying gaze.
"Ah..." The doctor looked nervously at the nurse before giving up and sending her to get the papers.
