Chapter Text
Maya had just finished a 24 hour shift. The cold air smothering her as she walked to the car. She opened it quickly hoping to find purchase from the cold. Maya let muscle memory take over as she idly made her way home. The same muscle memory brought her up the stairs to her apartment and unlocked her door.
Being that it was 6am Maya wanted nothing more than to be engulfed in warm blankets and let sleep take over.
As she trudged to her bedroom, she was met with a sight she wasn"t prepared to see. Her girlfriend was bundled up in her bed sleeping soundly. Their relationship had been relatively new, about 4 months in. Maya recently gave Carina a key and it seemed like her girlfriend was already putting it to good use.
Feeling the fatigue and cold starting to settle in, it was time for Maya to get into bed as well. Moving to her side of the bed she realized that might be easier said than done. Carina was really snug in these blankets. Maya gave her side a gentle tug but that didn"t do much to get the blanket free.
Maya leaned over the bed and brushed a stray hair behind Carina’s ear.
“Carina baby? Wake up. I want to come to bed.” Maya coxed
Carina stirred and opened her eyes. “Bella?” Carina said, sleep evident in her voice.
“Yes sweetheart, can you let me in please?” Maya said softly.
Carina was confused for a second then realized she was firmly wrapped in the blankets. Shimming her way to loosen them up she picked up the blanket on Maya’s side welcoming her to join her. Maya wasted no time slotting herself under the blankets, her body right up against Carina’s.
“Not that I’m not happy you’re here, but I wasn’t expecting to see you this morning.” Maya stated
“I know, its just been a few days since we"ve seen each other and I guess I just missed you a little bit.” Carina said pulling Maya closer “On second thought go back to your side of the bed, you’re freezing.”
“Well warm me up then ya big softie!” Maya said shoving her feet under Carina’s legs
“MA-YA!” Carina shouted in complaint trying to move away from the sudden cold intrusion.
“Nope it"s your duty to warm me up after you were gate keeping the covers.” Maya said moving closer to Carina settling on her chest.
“I was not.” Carina defended
“They were practically suction cupped to your body babe.” Maya stated as fact
“Shh, rest now.” Carina said, giving Maya’s head a quick kiss.
“What time do you have to go in.” Maya said eyes already closing
“In about an hour and half. I"ve got some time to rest with you.” Carina said, her eyes closing as well. The two women both letting their bodies wind down in the presence of their significant other.
“Thank you for coming because I missed you a little bit too.” Maya said letting sleep overcome her.
They hadn"t said it yet but Maya was letting herself fall in love with Carina. If she was being honest she was already there.
