“I’m gonna tell you a story. Maybe it’ll help you calm down a little so we can go to sleep.”
Etho laughs when Joel shoves him, not hard enough to do damage.
“I’m not a child, Etho.”
“I know. It’s not really a kid’s story, anyway.” Etho pauses, considering. “Okay, maybe it could be, but that’s not what I meant it as. I think you’ll like it.”
Joel crosses his arms and shifts so he can lean back against the wall of the ship and still face Etho. The intensity of his stare is a little unsettling; Etho looks down and clears his throat. It’s been a long time since he heard the story. Hopefully, he can do it justice.
“Okay,” he starts. “Once upon a time, there was a hunter."
