10:30pm.
That was the time they agreed to meet on the balcony in front of his room. He told his guards he was going to sleep late, to look at the stars from his balcony, like he does every night…But he never does it alone . The brunette is always with a certain someone. Someone that he can’t be with but he refuses to stop loving.
It’s only 9pm and Dazai’s on his balcony, waiting. It’s too early for him to be out here but the prince did not want to accidentally miss him. This was the only time they were able to see each other, what if he falls asleep and the redhead doesn’t come? He won’t be able to see those beautiful blue ocean eyes and run his fingers through the hair that looked like flames dancing on his shoulders.
“...’Samu?” A quiet voice pulled him away from his thoughts from beside him. He looked to his right to see his beloved. And oh, did he look so, so majestic in the moonlight. How he wanted to kiss the man in front of him so badly .
“Chuuya. You’re here early…” It took him a few seconds to regain his composure before answering the redhead. Dazai had a small smile on his face. He really wanted to bring Chuuya inside and hold him like there was nothing stopping them from being together.
“Yeah. I … I have something to go to at the time we promised to meet. But I didn’t want to go into tomorrow without seeing you.” Holding you. Unspoken but Dazai understood. He knew. They both knew how deeply in love with each other they are, but because of their titles, they could never be together.
Osamu Dazai, a popular prince that had hundreds of princesses lined up, wanting his hand in marriage. Chuuya Nakahara, the most wanted thief in all of Yokohama.
Strange how they fell in love. They never questioned it though. After all, the red string brought them to each other, that enough was proof they were meant to be together, even…even if it was in secret. Even if Dazai were to marry someone else. Because Chuuya knew that Dazai would only love him and only him.
“A heist?” Dazai teased softly, raising his eyebrow as if he didn’t know what the redhead’s occupation was.
“No, it’s a spring ball filled with royalty.” Was the reply back. Chuuya was smiling though.
His smile.
It’s so bright, enough to outshine the moon. Enough to light up the prince’s darkest days. It was perfect .
You’re perfect .
Dazai stayed quiet but his hands slowly went to hold Chuuya’s. They were so small against his own, filled with scars and bruises from his little adventures around the kingdom. The prince held a hand and lifted it up to his lips.
“Don’t have too much fun, my love. I might need to come after you myself for causing so much trouble~.”
“As if you’ll catch me.” Chuuya said with a smirk.
I have you in my arms right now. I’ve caught you already.
Dazai kissed the back of Chuuya’s hand and smiled up at the thief. The redhead’s cheeks were flushed, but he wasn’t looking at the brunette.
“Look at me, darling. I know you don’t have much time left here…My father might come check up on me soon. But…Indulge me in a kiss?”
Chuuya’s head turned and instead of answering the prince, he leaned up and the distance between them closed.
“And now, goodnight.” He pulled away after a few seconds, smiling with his eyes closed. Chuuya was so happy with Dazai…Why did fate decide to separate them like this? If they were soulmates…why couldn’t they be together publicly?
“Thank you, dearest. Be careful of my heart, won’t you?” Dazai whispered, still holding onto Chuuya, not wanting to let go. “You see, you’re taking it home with you tonight. Please, don’t break it.”
The prince leaned down again, his lips touching the thief’s hand once more.
“Goodnight, Osamu.”
I love you.
Chuuya jumped onto the balcony railing, bowing slightly at the prince. His prince.
“Goodbye, until tomorrow.”
And with that, the redhead fell backwards and disappeared below the castle. Dazai looked over the railing, to see his redhead one more time but there wasn’t a single sign of him anywhere.
You’ll always be mine, forever and ever.
