Chapter Text

The weekend arrives and Vicky is at a nursing home taking care of the elders, Polly, Vera, Scott are debating on where to go to party when Vicky makes use of her connections with Oz to create the perfect party.

They are all impressed

Vicky Schmidt sat at the shared dining room table as papers upon papers of charts, data, salvaged camcorder data,

“Between Oz and Amira both have made considerable progress toward wooing their date, Liam has been constantly seeking his Sensei’s guidance and thus the two have been hanging out more. “ Vicky jotted down, drawing a line on the giant whiteboard from Amira to Liam, logging in some numbers before stapling a solid red/purple line onto a board.

“Hmm, Brian isn’t doing so hot…” Vicky looked through the data that she had managed to nab from Brian before he had departed. “First he helps Vera accidentally causing the Wolfpack to take Miranda away, going to have a word with them about that…” she murmurs

“Next up Amira ends up sitting at Miranda’s table, and now instead of hanging out with Miranda he is with Vera and Polly at Dale’s party.

“If I didn’t feel the need to combine our shared experiences into tangible data and spreadsheets I could have gone to the party…” Vicky lamented, Brian had told her that Scott was explicitly going to be there, and he was giving Scott a Love Flower, so if she wanted her world rocked then she only had to be in front of him.

“No Vicky snapped out of the delusion. Just because you get to try out that super hot and meaty cock doesn’t mean he will fall in love with you. Besides, having sex while someone is drugged was the definition of date rape and she didn’t want to stoop so low as to resort to it.

Speaking of Scott, her progress was so-so. So far she had helped him with the the football problem, helped cheered him on to annoy Vera, and then stopped his cousins from interrupting his attempts at getting an education.

“But why do they have the ability to eat books and gain the knowledge from them but not Scott?” she murmured. The question quickly took over her attention before she jotted it down in her Ideas Notebook for later.

The sound of an alarm blared in the apartment. Vicky deep in her notes sent papers flying as she shot up from her seat. “It’s time already?” she exclaimed, she ran around the room stuffing an assortment of objects into her bag.

Across the room sitting on the couch one flame Djinn named Amira looked up from the animated show with subtitles she was watching to see Vicky. “Quiet down will ya V, I can’t hear what these nerds are trying to say!”

“I can’t!” Vicky cried. “If I don’t hurry I’m going to be late!”

“Oh you’re going out too?” she grabbed a popcorn and threw it into her mouth, crunching it as Vicky stared at her.

“What do you mean too? I always go to the nursing home at this time to help them out.” Vicky huffed. Amira chuckled.

“Well Oz and Brian are out and about, I mean what gives, Brian woke up early for once?”

“Amira…” Vicky checked her watch. “It’s 4 in the afternoon.”

“Exactly, when has Brian ever gotten up before dinner on a Saturday? And shows like these are what Oz loves, yet he isn’t here to enjoy them right?”  Amira waved a hand toward a very colorful anime which had two boys kissing each other.

“Amira!” the flaming djinn’s roommate exclaimed. “I thought there were rules in our house about no porn before eight?”  The flesh golem shook her head disapprovingly.

“Wa.. this isn’t…” Amira flared up as she saw her best friend descend into giggles. “Okay. First of all, fuck you” She flipped the bird before waving her other hand toward the tv. “This is hentai which is like anime but spicier, I need to do all the research I can so I can win this competition, but with how everyone else is doing I’m starting to think that it won’t be necessary at all.”

“Oh yeah gloat, why don’t you, I’ll have you know that Scott is an avid attender of this nursing home, my plan of slowly integrating myself to him by volunteering here is working out pretty well!” Vicky shared.

The flame djinn’s eyes glinted, her smirk growing ever wider. “Oh? Tell me, how is that working out for you. Ever had the chance to talk to Scott there yet?”

“Hey! It’s not my fault that all those monsters need a hand, or someone to sit down and listen to their very interesting stories. Like did you know that Ms. Nicki Lavee used to be a very renowned horse racer or how about Mr. Chuck Acabra and his blood empire in Central Monstrica.”

Amira shrugged her shoulders and went back to the show she was watching. “Snooze fest, who cares what words the elderly tell us, I got a hot vampire to bang.”

“A hot vampire who is old enough to know these monsters when they were spry and young, I’m telling you Amira, if you want Liam to keep dating you then you should pick up some interesting obscure knowledge, and what better place than a retirement home?”

“Once more, hard pass! Have fun in Snoozeville.”

Vicky took a moment to glance at the back of her friend’s head and sighed.

Welp I tried. She thought to herself before huffing her bag onto her shoulder and flew out the door.

A train ride later and Vicky Schmidt found herself in front of Scargrudge’s Home for Elderly Retirees It was located right next to Skaren’s Home for Orphaned and Abandoned  Monsters and Schurm’s Home for Survivors of the Dark Kind.

“Another weekend just for me and Scott to ha… oh hey Scott!... Polly?… and Vera .” Vicky glared at the last girl who hissed at her.  Their mini-showdown was interrupted by Polly.

“Scottie, I know you love your nursing home but I don’t think this place is going to make a great after party.

“You betcha Polly, the elders here hold some awesome parties. Like the Senior T Party” Scott nodded his head vigorously, his tail waving miles a minute.

“Ugh, it can’t be worse than Dale’s, I can’t believe I trusted that green oaf for even a second.” Vera hissed.

“You can’t win them all boo, as a ghost who died from taking the wrong type of flora, you get all kinds of wacky effects.” Polly shrugged.

Scott wagged his tail. “I had fun. I don’t remember what happened but my body is feeling kind of exhausted, the kind that makes you feel all good and happy” Scott exclaimed “The one after playing Sportsball with my cousins… or after I chase a car or squirrel.”

“Of course you had fun Scott, we went there for you after all. Our star player needs to release all the stress he has before the big game.” Polly

“He certainly did.” Vera scowled. “All over my leg mind you.” she seethed. “Those shoes were designer.”

“So get your green boytoy to steal you new ones.”

“With how nonchalant he is, he couldn’t muster the energy to grab one even if his life depended on it.”  Vera scowled, staring daggers into Vicky’s back.  Okay Vicky was seriously thinking they were talking about her friend Brian.

Yeah sure he didn’t have that much energy to muster on any given day but when motivated he could pull off some amazing feats too.

Vicky’s cheeks dusted pink when she thought back to the time he found her at Monster Camp the year before, her crush refusing to watch the end of camp fireworks that they had that year.

Brian had stepped up and kept her company, his jacket covering her  as a blanket of warmth and comfort to chase away the “Why was I not good enough” or “What could I have done to have them like me more”

Was it okay for her to be so obsessed with romance?

Thinking back, She was the one who had been pushing for her friends to find partners, Brian was okay with surfing highschool on minimal effort, Oz wanted to just find his comfort zone and stay in it, and Amira liked the challenges that life had to offer.

In truth she was the only one attempting to find love. She had chased Rachel in Camp, and now here she was scheming for her friends to get with people. In this case she had started coming to this nursing home to spend even a little more time with Scott, she had signed up to be part of the Football team’s manager this year due to Scott… she had even  placed Scott’s the closest to her at the dining table at the time.

“So where is this party that you mentioned Scott? Because after that last one Mama needs a pick me up.”  Polly scanned the horizon.

“It's right here,” Scott enthusiastically announced. Pointing toward the nursing home.

A few hours later

“This is the party? Scott, are you sure, this is a regular retirement home.”

“Yeah! Ms. Cabra throws the best senior tea parties with those tiny little scones!” He wagged his tail.  The last few hours the four of them had been sitting around drinking tea and eating crumpets and scones.

Vera scoffed with a roll of her eyes as Polly drooped only a tiny bit… at this point she could have melded with the floor

Oh no this was terrible. From what she overheard, Brian was already in the doghouse and Polly sort of knows me as Oz’s friend… so seeing me come here in my own time would definitely reflect badly on him.

Now as a studious girl herself she didn’t really get invited to parties that often. But even she had heard of her fair share of parties based on the local rumor mill.

And what she had heard about one of her friends was amazing. Now she wasn’t one to snoop on her friends but she loved verifying information and seeing a certain someone in an way she never knew he could act.

Why her heart grew at the sight. Who knew he had it in him.

“Okay Vicky, this is purely  damage control so your friends can score. Let me explain myself to him later and just call him to save the day, ok… ok!” she pepped herself up, whipped her phone out and dialed a number.

He picked up on the 2nd ring.

“Vicky? Hey what’s wrong?” a voice asked with worry.

“Oz! I need your help. Can you come to Scargrudge’s Home for Elderly Retirees? I’m in need of your skills pronto.”

“Um… I’m already here?”  Oz said

Vicky straightened up looking at her phone. “What?”

“I’m telling you I’m already here, look at the front door.”

She looked over to see Oz in his usual button up. Save for the suitcase he had brought with him. As if noticing her gaze one of the elders  looked over and then exclaimed, throwing her walker into the air. “IT'S HIM!!! OZ IS HERE!” she shrieked.

Scott’s tail wagged as an elder rolled out of his arm chair and flipped a switch, disco balls descending from the ceiling.

“Um Scottie what is this?” Polly rematerialized from the floor, her eyes glinting with interest.

“Oh didn’t I tell you that this place throws rad parties, it's called the Senior T Party. Oz always comes to DJ for them”

“And why didn’t you let momma know that little detail?” Polly asked.

“Oh when you mentioned you were bored earlier I thought you meant you were a board since you were melding with the floor… so I was wondering  if you were a surfboard or a skateboard or just a board board.” Scott crossed his eyes sticking out his tongue.

Vera and Vicky observed Oz walk over to a table in the corner and started to set up his station, the DJ board, the vinyls, some speakers, connecting some stuff to the some wires.

After a small tap to the microphone to get everyone’s attention he spoke with confidence. “Welcome everyone to another Senior T Party, I see we have a few new guests but worry not, they’re Scott and my friends, is there any requests for tonight”

 “Crocotiger!” An elder called out

“Son of Chupacabra!”

“Gregorian Chanting!”

The requests came flying in and Oz started to mix the requests like a master.

Vicky felt her body move as she lost herself into the tunes of music from long ago. Her butt was jiggling to the rhythm.

Polly had long since disappeared from her vision in this sea of elders, of course as a ghost she could phase through them and they’d be totally fine no matter how wild she got.

Vera too had disappeared from her vision

That left only one person, Across from her Scott was also dancing, shaking his butt to and fro.  Of course no matter how wild Scott got, his heart of gold had him avoid knocking over Ms. Cabra as she did a very slow tango

That left the two of them slow dancing, Vicky saw a chance and she took it, stepping forward she grabbed Scott’s hand. “We don’t want to hurt them right, slow dance with me.”

“We dance slowly so we can avoid knocking into them and give us space to avoid knocking them over! You’re a genius Vicky, of course we can dance together.” Scott’s smile lit up the room, well at least to her since the disco balls were going crazy.

The hours seemed to meld together as they danced. She twirled in his hands, she tilted him and drew him back, he picked her up and held her in the air.  Was this how Prom night was going to go?

Her cheeks grew hotter at the idea of it all, a successful romance, after the disaster that was Monster Middle where she chased after her then-crush at the time. As she cried in the corner she had met her newest best friend Oz who had simply gone there to avoid monster interactions.

As she changed focus from romance to clubs and academics she had found a rivalry with Amira who kept on challenging her. Pushing her higher and higher since Amira wouldn’t accept being a loser and thus ignited her competitive drive to go above and beyond.

And upon going to Camp Spooky the summer after, she tried again at love. She was also partnered with the laziest monster ever, and through their constant interactions, especially with how he came to her at the end of the camp fireworks show and gave her all the love and support after that disastrous romance she attempted to pursue… she knew she had to call him her friend.

There was another attempt in Monster High that didn’t pan out well, but she had her friends to help pick her back up again. From Oz’s thoughtful gifts and cards. To Amira taking her places to do things she enjoyed to Brian’s support but just letting her chat and vent for hours on hours and he would listen.

And now she was going to introduce someone else into her life. Someone to hang out with aside from her best friends.

Muscled arms pulled her into a hug as another song came to an end. Vicky similarly hugged back with all the strength she had left, the smell of wet fur, and sweat invaded her nostrils, to others it may have repulsed them but she had grown to love the scent.

“Thank you all for another wonderful Senior T Party!” Oz announced from his corner. “I had a wonderful evening, and it was nice seeing all of you again after knowing you guys for so many years! Why I remember back when Ms. Cabra was still a spry lady arriving to attend Spooky Uni. for the first time.” the crowd laughed.

“I had a ton of fun today Vicky! This was like the best party ever!” Scott cuddled the frankenstein monster in his arms.  “You always leave before the Senior T Party starts so I never got to see, were you always a good dancer?” Scott asked, his tail wagging from moving his body, one of the many things that made him happy.

“I dabble here and there, I’ll have you know the Dance Club often asks me to show them dancing moves.” Vicky leaned in for another hug, Scott’s meaty arms reciprocating in kind. The two stayed in each other’s embrace for a bit before Vicky knew it would be proper to take a step back.

“I had a lot of fun today Scott, thanks for dancing with me.” Vicky fidgeted in place. Twisting her body side to side.

Scott’s face shown from the wide smile he had. “Of course Vicky, we should do this again, you always come by for the Senior Tea Party so if you stay a bit longer we can dance at the Senior T Party. Wink.” He closed one of his eyes, his smile as radiant as ever.

Oh this stupid crush of hers. Vicky laughed a hand going to pat his shoulders but he was stupidly tall so all she could do was pat his forearm.

“Scott, can you come here and help bring Ms. Lavee to her room, her legs aren’t functioning properly.” a wisen voice called.

“Oh boy I love helping people, I’ll be right there” Scott bounded away.

With a sigh she watched her loveable werewolf crush. As another figure slid into his place. She glanced up at the figure. Slender green legs, a blue jacket and a head full of snakes that were all watching her.

“You had your party, pardon Brian.” Vicky went straight to business.”

“Business as usual with you.” Vera scoffed with a roll of her eyes. “No need, he had his get out of jail free card when he helped with Scott’s stupid cousins, though who knew that your other friends aren’t as useless as your sorry lot are rumored to be.” Vera spoke.

“If you’re here to insult me then we can leave it at that, It’s getting late and I have a few friends waiting for me in a place where I’m loved and understood.” Vicky growled.

Vera’s eyes glinted, a tiny smirk graced her face as she watched the monster before her. “Nothing of that sort, I wish to offer my compliments, as much as I love Scott he can drag me to some of the most banal situations that does not suit a girl of my stature. Thank you for making it… entertaining.”

Vicky opened her mouth to retort her thoughts when Vera shoved a finger into her face to silence her.

“I wasn’t done speaking. Now, don’t think I haven’t noticed your little play.” She points a finger, Vicky’s eyes following to see Polly hanging off of Oz, her joyous laughter echoing in the room as Oz… Oz was relaxed!

Vicky watched as Oz seemed to be in comfort, conversing with Polly as the two chatted in their own special zone.

“The Nervous Wreck and Polly, Ms. Flaming Competition trying to integrate herself with Liam, The Sleeping Dead just so happens to be around when I need him. And yourself and my dear Scott.

Vicky’s eyes widened at that declaration. “You like Scott?”

Her snakes hissed. “To think I thought you had a brain in there. No, my feelings for him are more familial.” She relaxed her shoulders as a sigh escaped her lips. “I too know what it's like to not know my birth parents. Because of that it turned me into the mean bitch you know me as… but he still has a smile that is pure.” She huffed.

“I want to protect that smile, and this is a warning to you, If you do anything that causes him to cry I will personally find you and make you suffer.”  She threatened.

Vicky stood frozen on the spot. Was this… acknowledgement and approval from Vera of all people.

She raised a hand to her head, showcasing the years of Camp Spooky lessons that had been ingrained in her ever since she transitioned over from the Human Realm.

“I swear that if I ever did anything to make Scott sad. I’d punish myself first.” She vowed.

Vera watched her with hardened eyes for a few seconds before they melted with something that glinted. A nod of her head as she turned away. “If you understand then that is all.”

A new hand touched her shoulders.

“Hey Vicky, if you’re finished you ready to head on home?” her friend asked her.

“Of course Oz, but I didn’t know you DJ here.”  She feigned ignorance.

“I do this every weekend, it’s nice to brighten the days of my old friends… even if most of them don’t remember me.” he sighed.

Straightening up he turned to look at her. “What about you? I didn't realize that you came here? I was talking with Mr. Ghoulburg and he said that he appreciated you coming and helping.”

“Oh you know me…” she giggled nervously. “Just integrating myself into the hobbies that my crushes like haha.” A second pass before she started to wave her hands around.

“Not that I don’t like helping the elderly, that is like one of the top 50 things I like doing on my weekends, and you can learn so much from them too, the amount of hyperfixations that they have introduced me too, like did you know Mr. Ghoulburg introduced me to the time when I was super into birds!”

“You mean how you can now list all known bird species in order?” Oz raised an eyebrow.

“YES! Exactly that.” Vicky snapped a finger, her lips already spreading from the smile that was arriving. “Man, there were so many great bird species.”

“Like the Eurasian Blue Tits, did I tell you about how that caused the last food fight we had in the cafeteria?”

“No? I thought it was the crowd of homeless people that Miranda called.”

“Well it went like this, Polly and Damien were trying to find an excuse to start a food fight since they were bored, and asked me to come up with an idea, I was so overwhelmed it felt like I was melting ont he spot, but wouldn’t you know it that a student was carrying two birds nearby… and you knowing me I focused on them to help get me out of my panic attack and since I focused on them I started to comb my mind on what species they were…” Oz fell into memories as he recounted that day in the cafeteria.

Vicky watched her friend just chatting, nowhere was the former gloom, the nervousness or the sense of dread. Her friend was talking about a fond memory. One that would not exist if she hadn’t sprung this competition on them. One that was fueled by her obsession with romance.

I’ll make it up to you one day Oz, I’ll start dating Scott and then I won’t mess things up for everyone’ Vicky thought to herself as she continued listening to her best friend.

Meanwhile on the opposite side of town a Flame Djinn kicked down the door to witness a sight.

Brian was asleep, stripped naked and resting on the sofa as another dude sat in a chair drawing.

“What are you doing to my friend?” the Flame Djinn asked.

The guy looked up, his eyes flitting between the monster that had entered his home and the zombie hunk passed out on his couch.

“Drawing him like a french girl.” Dale replied.

“No no, if you’re going to draw him then draw him as a man, also he should be holding them sensually with his gigantic hands, you can’t forget the yaoi hands.” Amira interjected.

Sizzling over to sit next to the guy as she pulled out her own notepad.

“Wow you suck at art.” Dale exclaimed,

“Say that again and you won’t have a place to live anymore, capish. Now start drawing.”

Notes:

I spent so long trying to find the event so I could get it right and proper. I finally found it in a stream and the amount of joy and the speed I wrote the rest of the chapter.... IT WAS INSANE.

10 pages in my planning doc.

I had a lot of fun writing this one. I do not look forward to the next chapter though.
