Work Text:
Fox Alistair loved having the dorm room all to himself. At least, that’s the lie he kept telling his teammates… and the lie he repeated in his mind. Velvet and Yatsuhashi were on a star-gazing date atop Shade Academy, while Coco, their team leader, was spending the night in Emerald Sustrai’s dorm room. He wouldn’t say he was jealous - Team CFVY had been inseparable for years. There were times when he prayed to the gods for some peace, quiet and privacy. But now that he had it, he was a little lonely. He hadn’t been alone like this since before moving to Vale. Coco always had an active “social life” back during their time at Beacon, but Velvet or Yatsuhashi would still be around. Now that those two were officially dating, Fox came to a harrowing realization that he didn’t have any other friends to spend time with.
Or at the very least, Fox felt too awkward and aimless to ask to spend time with the other teams without his own team present. He considered himself a sociable person, but the rest of his teammates helped to function as the social lubricant in any given situation. He was a jokester and wouldn’t consider himself shy - but he didn’t go out of his way to talk to people outside of his teammates back at Beacon, and now, it was coming back to bite him. Spending time with Team SSSN was like willingly walking through a minefield, given all the issues and baggage they had with each other that hadn’t been sorted out. He tried to help Ren, Nora, Emerald and the new kid, Oscar, when they made supply runs or needed help navigating Vacuo, but they had suffered the loss of their leader and Team RWBY. He had been friendly with Ren and Nora before the fall, but they couldn’t just pick up where they left off when there had been drastic changes to their lives. Though he told them to come to him if they ever needed to talk, it seemed insensitive to ask them to hang out and play games when they had just lost their leader. Emerald wasn’t keen on opening up to him over Coco, and Oscar having Headmaster Ozpin in his mind was hard for Fox to reconcile when it came to trying to be friends with the kid. Fox had never been good with kids, so how was he supposed to deal with a kid who had hundreds of year's worth of memories?
Then, Team RWBY and Jaune came back from the dead, or rather, from the place they called the Ever After, Shade felt full of life and laughter like Beacon had been. Team RWBY had always been the glue that held everyone together, and with them back, happiness was infectious throughout the school. But even then - Jaune had gone through something unimaginable in that other world and was making up for lost time with his teammates. That left Team RWBY, and most of the time, Fox had no idea what to do with them. Team CFVY and Team RWBY went on missions together, but he couldn’t find a lot of common ground with them individually. Blake was more outgoing than she had been, and Yang seemed to bring out the best in her, but they went out to party a lot, and Fox felt like he’d be a third wheel. Ruby wasn’t the same clumsy comedic relief of their team that he remembered her being - she was more serious and reckless lately, and though Fox would go with her on missions and train with her when she asked, Fox didn’t always want to fight. He and Ruby got along the most, but she never rested.
And Weiss. Weiss .
Fox would never forget when Weiss Schnee bumped into him and Yatsu in a rush at Beacon’s initiation party and demanded they apologize. She hadn’t made a great first impression and refused to apologize. She only toned down her attitude when she found out Fox was blind. In a way, it made Fox feel as though she had treated him differently out of pity - he was sure she would have continued to lay into someone like Jaune or even if it had been Blake, her own teammate. In a way, Fox wanted her to treat him as horribly as she treated everyone else, and anything less than that was insulting.
When Team CFVY helped RWBY study, if Velvet gave them a correction, Weiss would argue. If Fox made the same correction, Weiss would begrudgingly accept it. When Team CFVY helped Team RWBY spar, Weiss would always go easy on him. He could tell. She was letting him win because she felt bad about their interaction on that first day. So Fox didn’t let up. Instead, he started giving Weiss corrections that were wrong. Gave advice during combat training that he knew was bad. And finally, he got sloppy during their sparring matches. Fox intentionally started to throw the fight, which only made Weiss throw the fight even harder in an attempt to course correct. This went on until they were both making ridiculous, nonsensical mistakes and got punished by Goodwitch for it. When RWBY and CFVY were held back after class so their Professor could find out what exactly was going on, after weeks of awkward, put-on politeness, Weiss Schnee finally snapped. Team RWBY was horrified at the intensity of their argument, thinking Team CFVY would never spend time with them again, but to everyone’s shock, Fox laughed. Though he couldn’t see Weiss’ face, he could understand the intensity of Velvet’s description as she translated visuals into sensation. That her face burned red as Fox relished in the fact that Weiss had finally treated him the same as the others.
They seemed to bring the worst and best out of each other after that. They were always arguing, and their combat practices always left the field torn up and grassless. Weiss stopped giving Fox any mercy, and the worst of their competitive natures were brought out of each other. But Fox wondered if maybe… he also helped bring out the best.
Maybe it had been Ruby or one of the others that made Weiss self-reflect. But he wondered if his bluntness played a part: that he had said straight-out that day that Weiss was not treating him with her normal demeanour - and that her normal demeanour was mean . He wondered if the absurdity of that - that she was being too nice to him - partly helped her to change, though he was sure Team RWBY took 99% of the rest of the credit.
Her frozen heart started to thaw. She had the same posh air she had on her first day, but she had started to become nicer to everyone . She wasn’t the same spoiled brat she had been. Their interactions were not completely free of rivalry, but the rivalry was without loathing. Maybe his teammates thought that he hated her. But he didn’t.
Regardless of his feelings about Weiss, no one in Team CFVY knew how she felt about him. Though Fox thought their relationship evolved from enemies to friendly rivals, maybe Weiss thought he was a pain in the ass the entire time. Maybe Weiss didn’t see Fox’s actions as ‘tough love’ in a sense, but always as hatred.
The last time they had ‘seen’ Team RWBY was at the Fall of Beacon. And not only were they reunited after three years, but after the entire world thought Team RWBY had died in Atlas. They had all changed so much from what he remembered, but Weiss had changed the most. She went into the city every day to hand out supplies or tell the kids stories about the fairytale world they had come back from. She was always spinning some sort of animated, whimsical story to entertain the children when they went to see Doctor Polendina, or she’d hold their hands when they had to get a shot or have blood taken. She still took school as seriously as ever, but she didn’t defend Atlas during history classes as she once did. Most shocking of all, was that Weiss frequently made jokes or puns .
But Fox couldn’t see Weiss wanting to hang out with him - even if she could tolerate him, what would they even do? What did they even have in common?
So he did what he usually did on Friday nights: fall asleep with the television on in the background and dream of better times.
The next morning, when Coco tiptoed through the door, she nearly slipped on the piece of cardstock on the floor. She scowled as she rubbed her tired eyes, grabbing the card and furrowing her brows at it. Velvet was sitting with Yatsuhashi on the single armchair, Velvet having to sit in his lap. Fox was still laid across the couch with a blanket over him and snoring away, Coco presuming the pair didn’t want to disturb him.
“Did you have a good night Coco?” Velvet teased unabashedly with a yawn. “What’s that? I thought you already had Emerald’s number?” She spoke at a normal volume: it was impossible to wake Fox up before eleven on the weekends no matter how loud they were. Though - he always reacted to his name, even if it was the middle of the night. Velvet and Yatsuhashi were watching some cartoons on a Mistral broadcast station. With the Amity Coliseum serving to re-link global communications, they could now access multi-Kingdom streaming again, and they had a lot of binge-watching to do.
“ This almost made me twist my ankle in my favourite pair of boots. Fox shouldn’t leave his cue cards lying around.” Coco waved the note.
“Fox has stationery with the Schnee Dust company logo?” Velvet asked astutely, as that was the side facing her. Coco had the side with the message left in Braille.
“Hmmm… you don’t think - that someone has a secret admirer? Or not so secret.” Coco walked over and poked Fox’s cheek, and he gently swatted her hands away as he turned onto his other side.
“Humble as always, Coco.” Fox retorted with a sarcastic mumble.
“Wake up, lover-boy, we’re talking about you.” Coco slammed the card down on Fox’s chest before collapsing in her bed. Yatsuhashi was silently observing, wondering if he should tell Coco she was taking her teasing too far. If this was a love letter, this was a big moment for their friend, and they should be supportive.
“Yeah, right.” Fox snorted as he felt the note, running his fingers over it and still barely lucid. “If it was for me why would they give me a note that I can’t rea-” But he stopped as he felt the raised dots on the hard paper, his face warming. It was as though he had been hit with ice water. He cleared his throat, sitting up and feeling the raised dots on the paper.
“What does it say?” Velvet asked, trying not to sound too eager.
“Why would Weiss send Fox a love letter?” Yatsuhashi questioned, and Fox turned to him sharply.
“Weiss?!” Fox’s mouth hung open. “How do you know it’s from Weiss?”
“Uh, Fox, are you still half-asleep? Didn’t you hear V say that there’s a giant Schnee Dust Company logo on this business… card thing?” Coco grinned, lying on her bed and kicking her feet back and forth.
“There’s no way Weiss sent a love letter.” Fox snorted.
“How did you know it’s a love letter?” Yatsuhashi questioned. The entire note seemed to be in Braille. Coco shrugged at him.
“I just know. Like Fox said, I have experience.” Coco grinned nonchalantly.
“I have an interesting proposition for you. Meet me tomorrow (Saturday) in our dorm room at 2 PM if you’re interested. - Weiss Schnee.”
“You shouldn’t be so cocky, Coco. It sounds more like a business proposal.” Fox shrugged it off casually. Coco pulled her sunglasses down, scrunching her mouth to the side.
“No way. I’m never wrong.” She stretched. “Plus, business? With you ?”
“She could have just texted one of us. Why the secrecy?” Velvet didn’t believe Coco was infallible, but she also thought it was odd that Weiss would schlep all the way here, presumably last night to deliver a note. The note being in Braille also meant she went to the library to use the versa slate machine to punch in the cells.
“What does it say, then?” Coco asked.
“Just to meet her today if I’m interested in some idea she has. You know, I was thinking - it would be a brilliant scheme to sell study guides to the new Shade transfers. We could write the guides based on our other semesters here, she could use the shuttered Schnee Dust Company buildings to print them en masse… we could turn a profit, and it’s not even against school rules because it’s just a guide , not the actual answers from a test-” Fox offered with another, casual shrug.
“Did you just come up with that? Are you sure you aren’t a perfect match?” Coco rolled her eyes.
“I thought you and Weiss did not get along.” Yatsuhashi broached the topic carefully. He was there when Fox and Weiss had first met, after all. Fox paused for a moment, getting up from the couch and clearly determined to get his day started now with the intriguing mystery note.
“We don't. That’s what makes this so interesting.”
Fox wasn’t sure why he felt nervous as he started to head to Team RWBY’s dorm room, listening to Ada instruct him down the winding halls of Shade Academy. It was quiet on the Saturday, students either training on their own for the threat to come, taking missions to ensure the safety of the Kingdom from the Grimm, or taking days off. Shade Academy had no set regimen outside of class time - teams took missions because they wanted to, not because they were obliged to. In Vacuo, you fought for your home, or to prove your own strength - and if you decided to rest when you didn’t earn it? No one was going to scold you because you would only screw yourself over in the long run. If you were resting, it was probably because you knew you did earn the time off.
He realized through his Telepathy that the rest of Team RWBY was not around, though he could feel Weiss’ presence on the other side of the door. He knocked.
“Come in!” Weiss called. She knew it was silly to fuss over her appearance as Fox would not be able to see her, but she smoothed out her long white hair anyways as she straightened up in her chair. She closed the novel she had been reading, crossing her legs underneath the floral blue and white summer dress she was wearing.
“I’d say it’s good to see you, but…” Fox gestured to his face in playful jest, his white eyes glittering in the sunlight coming from the skylight. Fox was wearing what he usually wore, but he wore his red hair naturally, his curly hair framed by a black headband. “You wanted to see me , Ice Queen?” He asked. Fox’s lopsided smile combined with his lighthearted demeanor brought a smile to her face and a rosiness to her cheeks. Since all the dorm rooms were laid out identically, Fox took it upon himself to find his way to the armchair closest to the door and sit down. Weiss stared at him as though they were both at opposite heads of a boardroom table, sitting business-like in her own armchair on the other side of the coffee table that was between them.
“I did. Thank you for meeting with me.” Weiss replied, folding her hands in her lap.
“I can’t say I’m not surprised.” Fox leaned backwards in the chair, folding his arms so his hands rested behind his head. “So, what’s up? Can’t figure out how to get on Rumpole’s good side? Need some pointers about the Mole Crabs? Looking for how to get some extra credit?” He then started to speak more excitedly than Weiss had expected, “I was thinking: we could make a killing if we sold study guides for the new transfer students. I was talking to my teammates about it because your message sounded like you wanted to talk business and-”
“It’s nothing like that. Though, I have to say that sounds intriguing. Maybe for another time.” She shook her head, her white hair squishing gently from side to side. “Before we begin, I would like to assure you that nothing we discuss will leave this room.” She had spent a lot of time preparing this speech, and there wasn’t a hint of nervousness in her voice. Fox raised his brow. He couldn’t fathom what they’d talk about that would make Weiss feel the need to promise secrecy.
“I… appreciate that?” He tilted his head slightly, trying to sound more confident than he felt. Weiss was acting like he had asked her to meet, and not the other way around.
“I know I’d never have to worry about you gossiping. So I thought I’d extend that same courtesy.” Weiss continued, “There’s a cup of cactus tea on the coffee table in front of you to your left if you’d like a drink.” Fox felt for it and gave a nod when his fingers wrapped around the cold glass. It was good to know that Weiss found him trustworthy. Even though he joked around a lot, he would never betray someone’s trust or use something they said in private against them for a joke. Weiss knew he was better than that.
“Thanks.” Fox swirled the liquid in the cup around, nodding his head toward it again. “So, what’s all this about?” He asked bluntly as he took a sip.
“I can always trust you to want to get straight to the point. A brilliant segue.” She smiled. “I’m having a bit of a problem, and you may be the only worthy candidate to solve it. And I believe the arrangement will be mutually beneficial.”
“Me?” Fox questioned. He wondered if this had anything to do with his Telepathy. He thought it may have something to do with the atmosphere around Shade Academy and how Vacuo differed culturally from Beacon, Haven or Atlas. But the more he thought about it, the more he realized that even if that was the case, it wouldn’t make him the only person Weiss could go to. But his Telepathy would. “Why me instead of your teammates? Or someone from Team JNPR?” He heard Weiss laugh, and for some reason, he shivered despite how warm it was in the dorm room.
“I don’t think that would be a good idea.” She responded, seemingly amused. Fox felt like he was being left out of an inside joke. “I have been rather stressed since we arrived here at Shade.” He let go of his breath: that must have been it. Weiss was having a hard time acclimating and wanted pointers from him on how to make friends with the other Shade students… despite the fact Fox had no other friends. But he supposed she didn’t know that. “We don’t know when Salem will strike. Vacuo is the last stronghold of humanity. We are the last Huntsmen and Huntresses. My sister is the Winter maiden. My family is trying the best they can to show they are well-intentioned. Ruby has been acting recklessly ever since we came back here. Jaune is… people can’t understand what he’s been through. It’s a lot of pressure to be the bridge between all these worlds - to help Theodore understand why my military-trained sister thinks the way she does. To help my family understand where the Happy Huntresses and the people of Vacuo are coming from. To help Ren and Nora understand what has happened to their leader, why he’s different now. It never ends.”
“You can’t be everything for everyone, Weiss. You need to make sure you’re taking care of yourself.” Fox told her reassuringly.
“And for the most part, I can. Or, I try. But there is one specific need I can’t fulfil on my own.” Weiss responded perfectly, as if she had anticipated all of Fox’s replies before he made them. She had planned for this of course. “I’m sure you’ve noticed how different Blake is, now that she’s with Yang. More outgoing… cheerful. Happy?” She offered. Fox raised his eyebrow quizzically. “In the same vein, Yatsuhashi and Velvet seem very happy together,” She shifted the conversation effortlessly. “In times like these, affection can greatly improve one’s mood - it must be nice to have someone you can rely on, emotionally, physically-”
“Soooo you want me to put in a good word with Coco for you? ‘The more things change’...” Fox offered nonchalantly with a shrug and laugh. It had happened before - especially with the braver Shade Academy students who weren’t as intimidated by Fox as the Beacon transfers were. It was only during the silence that fell between them did Fox realize he felt as though he had been on autopilot, and now was suddenly nosediving. He had been nodding along supportively, and it was only now as those words left his mouth did he consider the obvious.
This was not about Coco. Why would Weiss Schnee possibly need his help to ask Coco out when Coco would be the first one in line to help Weiss with her ‘problem’?
“No. I know Coco has girls lining up to get heartbroken.” Weiss replied matter-of-factly. There was another long silence. Her heart pounded in her chest from the uncertainty of how he would react. She couldn’t tell if he was being coy or was truly completely oblivious. But she had already come this far. “If you’ll allow me to be blunt because I know neither of us beat around the bush: I was hoping you would be interested.”
Fox’s first instinct was to laugh .
“Alright, I admit, you got me.” Fox got up from his chair, Weiss’ composure slowly broke with each laugh that escaped his lips, her eyebrows twitching in confusion. “Our teammates must be killing themselves laughing. Did you get Velvet to help you set up a hidden camera or something? No WONDER Coco thought it was a love letter, you wanted to get me flustered - so she started planting the idea in my head that you actually wanted to- HA. That is hilarious . I didn’t know you had a sense of humour.”
“I don’t.”
Weiss watched as Fox’s expression went from jovial to horrified. His entire face started to burn, and he was sure this moment would be something he spent every night lying in bed thinking about, replaying it over and over again as he asked himself why he said something so stupid and embarrassing.
“I’m not making fun of you, Fox.” Weiss told him, her voice light with laughter. He was relieved she found his mortification at least a little bit funny. To Weiss, the look on his face was priceless, but this wasn’t exactly the reaction she had been hoping for. He heard Weiss stand up, her heels clicking on the stone floor. Fox’s cheeky, self-assured smile was completely gone as he sat back down, letting the chair catch him. “I suppose I can see why you’d think that. I apologize.”
“No, I’m the one who should be sorry. For laughing.” He rubbed the back of his neck. “But I just- what ?” Fox blurted out.
“All my life, Fox, I have had to worry about boys only being interested in me for my name, my money or my title. But not you. Never you.” Her voice was soft in a way he hadn’t expected. “I’d almost dare say that you despise those things about me. You have no ulterior motives. There are no false pretenses. We never agree on anything. We argued at ‘hello’ the first time we met. You have never been anything less than honest with me.” Weiss paced as she spoke. “I cannot ask Ruby, or Jaune, because I run the risk of ruining our bonds. And it’s not that I don’t consider you a friend-”
“But we have no friend ship to ruin. Team RWBY and Team JNPR are like your family.” Fox responded quietly. He felt dizzy, like when he got light-headed from standing up too fast.
“Precisely,” Weiss responded with a pleased smile as she continued walking around the dorm room. “And anyone else was not even worth the time to consider. Coco is too wild and the entire school knows her every escapade. We would have no privacy.” She chuckled. “Sun could not keep a secret if his life depended on it, and he has his own baggage with his teammates to focus on. That and I think even if Blake wouldn’t mind, he should be off-limits. There are some people not even worth the mention - who are superficial, or dumb, or strike me as selfish in all pursuits.” She sat back down, smoothing out her skirt as Fox’s face continued to warm. “I’ve made a list of the pros and cons if you’d like to hear it.”
“I…” Fox’s mouth went dry. Never in a million years did he imagine this would be what Weiss wanted from him.
“This is not a love confession. I’m not in love with you.” She clarified, and Fox felt a sharpness in his chest. It wasn’t like he wanted her to be, but he had never been both sought after and rejected at the same time. “I have no idea what to call such an arrangement. ‘Enemies with Benefits?’ - I know we don’t really hate each other but I like how it sounds.” She teased, and Fox realized that now Weiss was trying to make a joke .
“You know that they have toys for that, right?” He asked bluntly. That was something else about Fox that she appreciated - he always spoke without any filter. “I’ve never had sex before. I may not exactly have the experience you’re looking for.”
“Do you think I haven’t tried that already? I can’t-” Weiss shot back, pinching the bridge of her nose with her fingers. Fox hadn’t expected such bluntness back. “I just can’t. I don’t know why. I think too much when I’m by myself.” This was the first time Fox heard her start to get flustered, her face turning red. “One of my ‘pros’ is that it’s possible your telepathy could assist in that. In refocusing my own thoughts onto the task at hand.” His mouth hung open slightly. He had never considered that before.
“Maybe.” He agreed, his voice quieter than he had been, contemplating the idea. It was finally setting into him what Weiss was truly asking.
“You can keep a secret. You are clever. You are incredibly attractive. You can be earnest when you want to be, and you are always blunt.” Fox had never been called attractive by anyone before, his entire body going numb for a moment, like when his fingers or legs fell asleep. It was almost as unbelievable as her listing off all of these qualities she liked about him without any hint of sarcasm or even shyness. He opened his mouth to speak, wanting to thank her for the compliment at least, but she continued. “Plus, if that was all there was to it, why would people be in relationships at all?” She clearly thought he was being dense, but she changed her tone. “Don’t you ever want to be touched? Be held? Be kissed ?” She asked, with an earnest longing that made Fox’s blood pound in his ears. “I suppose I thought you’d understand. Your teammates are happily paired off and having their fun. Why shouldn’t you? It’s not like we don’t spend time together as a team anymore, but sometimes… It's natural to be lonely, isn’t it? Or to see what they have and… want it?”
“Yeah.” Fox admitted, scratching the back of his neck. “I understand.” He was tempted to make another joke, but he knew he couldn’t run from his real feelings, not when Weiss was being so honest with him. His expression changed, and she saw sincerity in his eyes. He hesitated for a moment, but heard the warmth in Weiss’ voice.
“Do you want to talk about it?” She asked gently. He scrunched his mouth to the side, letting out a long exhale.
“We had a mission a long time ago… before you guys showed up. Where people’s emotions were being heightened and messed with, and people kept gathering together even though we told them it was safer for them to stay away from each other. Because their emotions were only getting stronger as a clump. But they kept doing it.” He paused. “I guess, it’s only natural to seek out other people when you’re scared, and alone. Our feelings have a function. When we express our sadness, the people around us know to comfort us. But I spent most of my life being lonely, so I don’t have that… that instinct to show any feelings at all. Because what would be the point? There was no one there to notice.” Weiss looked down at the floor for a moment, that sentiment being too raw for her to face.
“I’m sorry, Fox.”
“It’s whatever. I have my teammates now, anyway. They’re my family like your teammates are to you. When they leave me alone, I try to shrug it off. I’ve wanted to reach out to you guys, but I just don’t know how.” He hesitated. “I guess I never thought you’d be lonely, though. Not when you could have your pick of the guys. Or the girls.”
“I spent all my life before Beacon lonely, too.” Weiss agreed quietly. “I know our upbringings were very different. I don’t mean to sound spoiled.”
“The fact that you’re even considering that shows how much you’ve changed.” He replied. “So, let’s say I agree to this: what are your terms?” He leaned backwards, relaxing into the chair. Weiss could tell he was giving it serious consideration. And it was the end of the world. Why shouldn’t he?
“No strings attached. We are not in a committed relationship of any kind. Salem had spies infiltrate the schools once - I will not allow her to know about any more of our weaknesses. She has enough ammunition already. Neopolitan alone used Nora against Ren, Pyrrha against Jaune… I can’t imagine what the others could do.” Weiss clenched her fist tightly. Something else went unsaid: there was not only the fear of their enemies using Fox against Weiss, but that Weiss herself did not want to allow herself to get attached, lest she would lose him. Another reason, Fox realized, why she had asked him instead of someone like Coco or Jaune. “And there is something else to consider: though I think it’s arbitrary at this point, my mother and my sister still subscribe to ‘high society’ rules about courtship. In their minds, I shouldn’t ever meet with you without a chaperone. Ridiculous.” She rolled her eyes. Fox didn’t want to be on the Winter Maiden’s bad side either. “Preferably, I’d like us to meet with some regularity. But just because we’ve decided this doesn’t mean we’re entitled to anything when the other doesn’t feel like it. You can seek me out whenever you wish, and I’ll do the same. We do not tell anyone about our arrangement. We have fun. That’s all.” Weiss explained, as if they were actually going into business together. “But if you did want to come over and watch a movie sometime, or play a board game, I think that would still be nice.” She added.
“Hence ‘Friends with Benefits’. No exclusivity. No dates. No ‘going out’ as a couple. Just friendly hangouts that end in…” He gestured vaguely to the air. “I agree.” Fox told her. “But what are we going to tell our teammates? If you wanted to keep it under wraps, why send the note?”
“Your teammates will surely notice if you start vanishing. Instead of pretending that we are disappearing for separate, unrelated reasons around the same time, I hope what I sent would convince them we are working together in a strictly professional capacity.” Weiss folded her hands together. “Perhaps your idea of mass study guide production will be useful after all, though what I was considering was more in the vein of diplomatic relations. For you to come with me when I need to prepare for matters related to The Schnee’s meetings with Headmaster Theodore. A Vacuan perspective.”
“That makes sense. If we try to hide it, they may start to trail us. If they think we’re doing something boring, they’ll leave us alone.” Fox shrugged. “Anything else?” He heard Weiss breathe in sharply. “You’ve come this far, Ice Queen. Now’s not the time to be coy.”
“It’s… difficult for me to shake the feeling of being improper.” Weiss blushed, the first time she sounded really shy. “We also need to test our compatibility. What I’m imagining, it may not work. And in that case, all I’d ask is that we never speak of this again. We laugh about our failed experiment and move on.”
“You’re right. We could feel nothing. Even physically.” Fox’s voice was low and quiet. “When do you want to… take this compatibility test?”
“My teammate will be gone for a few hours,” Weiss told him, getting up from her spot on the couch and walking toward him. “Does ‘right now’ work for you?”
“I think I could pencil you into my very busy social calendar.” Fox chuckled sarcastically.
“Is there anything else you’d like to discuss?”
“No.” He told her. Weiss smiled at his confidence. He felt Weiss straddle his lap gently, wrapping her arms around his neck as she brought herself closer to him. He could hear how heavy her breathing had gotten, smelling mint in the air from her breath.
“Then, can I kiss you?” She asked.
“Yes.” Fox told her.
He felt Weiss cup his cheek, wondering if she could tell he had been blushing this whole time. He wondered if she could feel the heat on his cheeks. She kissed him softly, her lips warm and tasting of peppermint. He brought his hand up to hold the back of her head, kissing her back gently as his fingers ran through her straight white hair. Though Fox felt flattered and flustered by her compliments, he hadn’t expected for his body to erupt with heat at just a kiss. A large part of him thought they would kiss and Weiss would realize she had chosen wrong. But instead, he kissed her again, letting one of his hands roam down her body, the other still in her hair. He felt her shift on his lap, Weiss grabbing at the fabric of his vest to bring him closer to her.
There was no romance in this moment. Fox had never considered himself a lustful person, but he was immediately intoxicated. Weiss had taken his first kiss. He never cared that Weiss was a Schnee - but Weiss Schnee wanted him . Her words replayed in his mind as though he could feel them through her touch. The desire to be held, to be touched, to be kissed. And she wanted those things from him . Electricity coursed through him as he realized how badly he wanted to be wanted like this. She wanted him to please her. A need only he could satiate. Something ancient overtook him, and he realized that he needed her.
For Weiss, this was exactly what she fantasized about. She had come up with this plan days ago, and every time she tried to give herself release, she ended up frustrated. But as she kissed Fox, she felt the spark she knew she needed. She had already found herself aroused just waiting for Fox, but she could feel wetness clinging to the fabric of her underwear as she grinded on his lap. She had been completely starved for attention, and there was something about Fox being the one to give it. She knew he had no ulterior motives - not like her father, who married her mother only for the Schnee name. Fox didn’t want her money or her name. Or even a future with her. He only wanted her.
Part of him wondered if he should have asked first before running his fingers down her spine, or palming her ass while his thumb settled on the bone of her hip. But he felt Weiss starting to touch him too, stroking Fox’s hair and rocking on his thighs. Fox broke the kiss with a heavy pant, Weiss looking down at him. Her pale face was bright red, and Fox could feel how hot her skin was.
“You know, I can’t say for sure if this is working.” Fox teased with his usual lopsided smile. “Let’s do it again.” She batted the thought that he was perfect away, not wanting to give him the satisfaction.
“I’m rolling my eyes at you.” She shot back, trying to hide the smile coming through her tone.
“Awwww you know you find me charming. You can’t lie to me, Ice Queen.” Fox rubbed the corner of her mouth with his thumb.
“You’re lucky you have such a handsome face.” Weiss grinned. She drank in Fox’s flusteredness again. “You are especially handsome when you’re shy.”
“No one has ever said that to me before.” He told her softly.
“In business, your competitors' loss,” She kissed him softly on the cheek, “Is your gain.” She ran a finger down his jawline gently. “Do you… want to keep going?”
“Gods yes.” Fox exhaled deeply. She was surprised when he initiated another kiss, with desperation and longing that she hadn’t expected from him. He trailed his fingers down her spine, his hands getting lost in her hair as he slipped his tongue into her mouth. Weiss thought she’d unravel through those words alone and through wondering what else his tongue could do, but he stopped abruptly, his hands on her shoulders pushing her slightly back. “So, I guess we have a deal. Clearly we’re compatible.” His face burned. “What does that mean for today?”
“I…” Weiss hesitated. “I sort of had an idea. Something I wanted to try.”
“You can tell me.” Fox reassured her.
“I do have… something. Like you mentioned earlier, a toy. I’d like us to both undress, and you could use it on me. After that… it’s up to you.” Weiss spoke softly. She felt as though every word took all her effort and focus. She was pent up, and she wanted her release now. Every second they were talking was a second he could continue to touch her. “If you don’t want to escalate all the way today, I can just help you finish. Without any sort of penetration. So it’s fair.”
“Let’s see if I can make you finish first, and play it by ear.” Fox whispered in her ear. He smirked as he felt Weiss shiver. Every time her body trembled, he knew he was saying something right, and that reading all the fantasy-romance books he did paid off. “I’m assuming you want to do it on your bed instead of desecrating this couch.” He twirled a piece of her hair around his finger, and Weiss nodded, standing up. She took his hand and guided him to her bed. Both of them knelt down on the mattress across from each other. Weiss breathed heavily as she stared at him. She couldn’t figure out what she wanted to do first.
“Can I take your vest off?” She decided. Fox nodded, and Weiss unzipped it, exposing Fox’s chest before tossing it aside. She ran her fingers along his scars, her breathing becoming quicker as Fox kissed her down her neck. Though he hadn’t actually done this before, he had listened to a lot of audiobooks.
“Don’t leave a mark. People will notice.” Weiss’ voice was delicate, holding back a moan as he sucked on her neck gently.
“I’ll try not to. But I can’t see if I am or not. Just tell me if I’m doing it for too long.” Fox replied, using his telepathy to avoid interrupting his string of kisses to her collarbone. The telepathy made Weiss shiver - it felt so intimate. Like both of them were naked despite her still being clothed. “Can I take your dress off? I want to feel more of you.”
“Yes please.” Weiss wasn’t sure how it would work at first, but her thought came through crystal clear. Fox shuffled himself behind her to get at the zipper, unzipped it carefully, pulling it over her head. His bare chest was pressed against her back as Weiss pulled him toward her. “May I guide your hands?”
“Alright.” Fox was surprised to feel her bring his hand to her bare breast, Weiss not having anything on underneath. She brought his other hand to do the same, so he cupped both of her breasts. Her skin was so soft, she felt so delicate in comparison to how he was covered in scars. He felt her nipples harden in between his fingers and squeezed one gently, a small moan escaping her lips. He kissed her down the back of her neck, on her shoulders and down her spine, feeling her squirm and shift. She tried to move his hand down to her underwear, but Fox held her breasts firmly.
“Someone is getting a little impatient.” Fox chided playfully.
“I’ve been waiting for you all day. I’ve had a long time to think about this.” Weiss told him, turning around to face him.
“Well if all you need is your imagination, I guess I’m not needed here.” Fox teased, feigning the motion of getting up.
“Don’t you dare.” She grabbed his wrist, and Fox grinned.
“Just taking my clothes off. So I don’t have to get up again.” Fox told her.
Weiss watched as he stripped himself down into his boxers, then to nothing. She couldn’t believe that Fox Alistair was completely naked in her room, and how comfortable he was to do it. But the fact that Weiss had chosen him was propelling his ego out of control, to the point where he wasn’t at all concerned about what he looked like. Her throat felt dry, looking at how perfect he was. She tried not to stare at how hard he was, feeling as though despite everything it was still improper.
“My eyes are up here.” Fox teased as he knelt back down on the mattress.
“I’m sorry.” Weiss blurted out. “How did you-”
“I’m just joking.” Fox told her. “Stare all you want.”
“Oh.” She sighed in relief. “Well, I enjoy the view.” Weiss retorted, clearly pleased with herself as she watched Fox get flustered yet again. She kissed along his scars before kissing his mouth again.
“Do you want to lie down?” Fox asked her. She nodded, resting her head on the pillow as she looked up at him. Fox started to feel her from her ankle up her leg and to her thigh. He held onto it with his palm, his other hand caressing her face, arms and waist until he gently held her hip. Weiss wondered if this was his way of looking down at her, trying to learn and touching every inch of her to do it. He loved the softness of her skin and felt beauty in her every curve. She took his hand and steered it between her legs, Fox smirking. “So demanding.”
His hand travelled in between her legs, her underwear the only thing on that she had left. He stroked and massaged the outside of her panties, feeling how wet they were. He heard and felt Weiss continue to move underneath him, unable to stay still. She lifted her hips against his fingers.
“You’re soaking wet.” Fox whispered in her ear. She was incredibly warm, liquid pooling and dripping down her thigh despite her underwear still being on. He switched back to his telepathy. “Oh my gods. The Ice Queen melts over one little kiss.”
“I told you, this started before you got here. I’ve been thinking about this. Thinking about you .” Weiss grinded into his fingers again, sounding more annoyed. He pulled them down gently, his fingers getting caught in between the cloth and her bare skin. She bucked against him.
“Ice Queen?”
“Yes?”
“How badly do you want this, really?” Fox tilted her head backwards, kissing her from her neck down to right above the fabric of her underwear. He smirked, hearing Weiss shifting underneath him.
“Please.” She grabbed his wrist tightly.
“Please what?”
“Take them off.”
“And?” Weiss watched him gesture with his free hand, once again hating - but also falling for - that uneven smile.
“I want you to please me.” Weiss replied, her heart racing. Fox pulled the lace straps downwards, leaving Weiss completely naked.
“What do you think will help you finish?” Fox asked.
“What do you mean?” Weiss could barely get the thought out as Fox stroked her gently with his fingers. Though he wasn’t close to her clit, there was something about the feeling in itself. Every time he touched her so intimately without getting her closer to release, or without his fingers plunging inside of her, it drove her insane.
“You said that you think too much. A lot of this is mental, Weiss. What do you want me to say to you?” She could tell when he used her name instead of ‘Ice Queen’ that he was being sincere. This wasn’t teasing anymore.
“I… I already like how you are. Your banter. I like how you don’t always just give in. To me.” She stressed. Fox could tell it was hard for her to find the words.
“Just tell me if you don’t like something I say, alright? Or if I go too far. I’m just trying to see what gets you off.” Fox told her. Her heart dropped to her stomach, full of nervousness and anticipation. “Do you want to give me your toy?”
Weiss reached in a drawer next to her bed, Fox waiting patiently. She handed him the white rabbit vibrator, watching as his fingers trialed up and down the shaft. Her heart was racing as she watched him sitting above her.
“Spread your legs open for me.”
“Alright.” Weiss was breathless as she did so.
She watched as he slowly put the vibrator into her. There was some resistance at first, but she felt the head of the toy pop into her. He could hear it slide in easily, and he smiled. He held the top of the rabbit ears down, and felt Weiss buck her hips against it. He couldn’t help but get even harder, imagining her doing the same to him. He also couldn’t help but be taken in by how unabashedly horny she was being. He hadn’t even turned it on yet.
“You must want this badly.” His fingers hovered over the buttons, but he didn’t turn them on. Weiss' skin burned all over with frustration. “Tell me you want me to turn it on.”
“Please. Please use it Fox.” He could hear Weiss’ breathing get faster and faster.
“Why should I?”
“Because I need you. Because I’m desperate. Please. You have no idea what you’ve done to me. Let me show you.”
“There’s something about hearing a Schnee beg.” He smirked. Weiss was torn between unravelling right there - and wanting to kill him. “You know what I think, Princess?” He asked as he pressed the long button, shifting through all the settings until he reached the one he thought would be best. He heard Weiss gasp aloud. That felt so different than ‘Ice Queen’. “The reason why you can’t get off is because you need permission. You need someone to tell you it’s alright to touch yourself.” He pressed the smaller silver button. It only had three speeds, so he put it on the fastest. He held the vibrator in place, feeling Weiss erupt underneath him with whines and quick breaths. “Let me feel you. Let me hear you. Or I’m turning it off. Be as unladylike, as loud, as free as you want.”
“Oh, Fox, I-” After all the teasing and edging, Weiss felt so close.
“Does that feel good?”
“Yes. But - I don’t know if I- if I can. What if this doesn’t work?” She struggled to get the thoughts out.
“Stop. Focus on my voice.” Fox held the vibrator in place, caressing her body with his other hand. “You deserve this. You’ve been so patient.” He kissed her neck gently, his other hand playing with her breasts. Though he couldn’t hear her unintended thoughts as well as her sent ones, he could feel them. He could sense her anxieties and her worries. “Stop thinking about school, or missions, or whenever your mind is wandering. Or how much time we have left.”
“You can tell?”
“Of course I can.” Fox chuckled. “It’s only us. It’s only us.” He could feel her wetness dripping down her thighs and he continued to handle the vibrator. He kissed her lips gently, Weiss reaching upwards to grab at his hair. “Your breathing turns me on. How you move against the sheets. How you rock your hips back and forth. I can feel how hot you are to the touch. How needy you are between your legs. I can smell it from you. You don’t have to worry about how you look in this moment. I can’t see you. All I can do is feel you, and you’re hotter when you’re close.” Fox continued to trial kisses down her body, Weiss legs tensing and releasing underneath him. “All you need to do is cum. Can you do that for me?”
That made electricity surge through Weiss, and she immediately felt her clit throb against the toy. It wasn’t long before Weiss gripped onto Fox’s arm tightly, her toes pointed as perfectly as a dancers and her entire body still but pulsing. She moaned repeatedly in his mind.
“Yes. Yes! Yes! Fox, Fox, Fox-” Fox was convinced this was the most beautiful, melodic sound he ever heard. He could tell she had came in how her hips stopped bucking. That she stopped chasing and found the pinnacle in perfect stillness.
Her moaning was so loud it would have rocked the entire dorm if not for his Telepathy, Weiss sweating and gasping as she looked up at the ceiling, feeling something wonderful flood and fill every inch of her. It was as though she had been dreaming all this time, and she was snapped wide awake. Fox had been hard hearing her moan, but her saying his name changed something in him.
“You, you did it.” Weiss looked up at him in disbelief.
“No, you did it. That’s a good girl.” Fox ran his fingers through the top of her hair. Weiss grunted, and Fox thought it couldn’t possibly be happening so soon until he felt her body react the same it had before. She covered her mouth, trying to hide the heavy breathing and the moans that had escaped her aloud. He thrust the vibrator a few times, the wet sounds being unmistakable. “I think we found what you like.”
“The way you talk to me. It’s perfect.” Weiss could barely get the thought out, her hips still bucking against the vibrator. “How did you know to do that?”
“The type of porn I use is very descriptive.” Fox gestures to his eyes, still glowing and mischievous. “But you need praise. I know that much.”
“I want more. Please. I’ll do whatever you want.”
“You don’t need to do anything to convince me. You deserve more. I got you.” Fox smiled.
Fox thought this feeling may be addictive. To be able to feel the vibration through Weiss' body and onto his. To hear her aching, shaking every time she came. He heard slick, wet sounds as the toy pressed into her that made him want to feel what it was like. And he was only driven into further lust knowing it wasn’t just the toy, but something he gave her that she needed. Weiss felt addicted too, feeling the high. How she saw stars in her vision and her entire body tensed before being filled with this intense pleasure. She started to lose count past the fifth or sixth time. It was easier than she thought it would be, but it was her first time.
“Fox.” She whispered aloud suddenly, gripping his wrist tightly.
“What’s wrong? Are you alright?” Fox turned the rabbit off, his expression riddled with concern.
“I’m more than alright. But I want more than this. I want you. I want you to finish. I want to ride you.” She told him.
“Are you sure? We don’t have to go that far. I don’t want you to feel obligated.” He ran his hand down her cheek gently, and he felt Weiss nod.
“I don’t feel obligated. I want to. I want to be on top. Is that okay with you?” She asked.
“Yes.” Fox smiled. “Just… be careful.”
“Good boy.” Weiss smirked. She laughed at how flustered he looked before taking out the vibrator. “Do you think it’ll hurt?” She stroked his cheek. Fox was the same length as her vibrator, but she was uncertain by how much thicker than it he looked.
“Just take your time.” Fox shifted, lying on the mattress. Weiss hovered above Fox’s stomach, watching as the sweat ran down his forehead. She told herself it wasn’t too different from the vibrator… she was just… upright. She took Fox’s cock in her hand, steadying herself as she lowered herself down. He jolted suddenly as she guided him inside of her.
“Are you alright?” Weiss shot him a panicked look.
“I-I just didn’t expect it.” He responded quickly. He felt everything at once, how warm she was, how wet she was and how it had been pooling down her thighs. All the hot wetness that had been swirling around the vibrator was dripping down her legs and into his cock.
Weiss wasn’t sure what to do at first, rocking herself forward tentatively as she watched Fox shiver and moan underneath her. He reached upwards, grabbing her hips with his hands, helping her rise up and sink back down without dislodging him. He was surprised when Weiss started to speed up on her own, leaning toward him and putting her hands on his chest.
“Tell me if I’m hurting you.”
“I’ve never wanted anyone like I’ve wanted you, Weiss. Trust me. I’m alright.” Fox smiled, and Weiss relished in that. “You are incredible.” He propped himself upwards with his hand, kissing Weiss’ neck as they brought their bodies closer. “I don’t know if I can last. Not when I’m up against this.” He whispered in her ear, thrusting into her and he rolled his hips to match, his hands holding her bare back. “Tug onto my hair. You can be rougher with me, Ice Queen. I won’t break.”
“You have my permission to finish.” Weiss smirked, giving Fox’s hair the pull he asked for, his head falling backwards. Fox licked his lip, wanting to be annoyed that Weiss was letting him but enjoying her control. He bit her collarbone gently, Weiss’ head falling backwards as she moaned again.
“You’re the one who needs me, Princess, don’t forget that.” Fox retorted with a growl to his tone. For a moment, as he pulled Weiss downwards he was worried he went too far.
“I’ve wanted to take you for so long, Red.”
Then he felt her grind herself faster, unravelling at his words. Fox could barely hear himself call her name in his own mind after that. Feeling her orgasm on top of him for the first time, hearing her moan and call out his name through their telepathy, and how she was fucking him with intense ferocity. To know she had wanted this. It made him unravel in one quick, explosive shot. He called her name, Weiss’ body burning at his unfiltered moans as he thrust himself upwards into her one final time.
Weiss had prepared for a mess, grabbing a towel out of her dresser as she got up and off from on top of him. Fox was about to speak, but Weiss whisked herself away to the restroom after giving Fox his own towel to clean up. When she came back, she laid a clean towel next to him and lay down.
“I thought you weren’t coming back.” Fox teased. He wrapped a protective arm around Weiss that she didn’t expect, and she rested her head above his shoulder on her pillow, wrapping her arm around his chest. “Are you alright?”
“Yes. I just didn’t want to feel dirty for the next hour or so.” Weiss replied. She paused for a moment. “That is, if you’ll stay with me for a while. I want to lie here with you.” He kissed her gently on her temple, playing with her hair.
“You’ve got a deal.”
