Summary
Steve knows that things in his life need to change- that he needs to change. Little does he know that change will come swinging into his life with the introduction of the Upside Down. Suddenly, his world isn't as small and meaningless as it had felt all his life. Nights alone at home or hosting jam-packed parties turn into hangouts with Jon and Nancy. His circle grows wider with the Party constantly asking for his company. He feels happy for the first time in his life. However, this all comes smacking to a halt as Halloween 1984 nears. Not only are Nancy and Jonathan now distant, but it seems that the Upside Down isn't behind them after all.
Steve doesn't know what to do with the gap in his life where Jon and Nancy used to be. They had been the ones to show him how to move on from the Popular persona he had put on for so long. In comes Eddie Munson- the boy Steve had been avoiding for so long. He was so different than anyone he had ever met. His eyes were naturally drawn to Eddie in a way that scared him. However, with an offered ride and some much-needed kindness, Eddie becomes a fixture of Steve's life in a way he never thought possible.
