Hello!! I am Klei, the creator of this monstrosity of a fic :)
Thank you for reading all the way to the end and sticking with me WAAA
This so called ‘chapter’ is gonna have a few things in them, such as my feelings while writing, some of the stuff I wanted to implement at first (but would deviate too much from the main story and change a lot), a little more in-depth info about my side characters and their relationships, some info dump (with easter eggs!), and a small qna directed by my dear proofreaders!! <3

My feelings about this fic are.. mixed.. to say the least.. _(´ཀ`」 ∠)
I actually started writing because of a small scenario I came up with, and thought, “hey, why don’t I build on this??”
Bad idea, now I have a 174k word fic posted up on AO3.
The scenario in question was actually really fleeting unfortunately, which was Rui showing Tsukasa what he’d composed while he was gone (i know, very fleeting..)
To jog your memory, it happened all the way in chapter 4.. Σ(-᷅_-᷄๑)

I honestly wasn’t expecting to finish this, but ADHD is real guys. why is this finished. why am i so invested into two silly little complementary coloured men. i dont even like ruikasa that much. im a mafuemu and emurui fan. what happened.

I was NOT expecting Rui’s character to stray so far away from his canon personality..
Tbf I was trying to add it back near the end of the fic but it didn’t fit that well with my kamisho so its very mild and probably not very obvious
Same with Tsukasa.. my little narc son.. hes a lot more mature and humble here tho :3 (just a little more gay panic to balance it out, ofc)

On to the initial headcanons I wanted to add!!
This was actually one of my reader’s suggestions, who asked me to implement it at some point
It would’ve been too messy to write, so I eventually didn’t :(
The idea? Mizuki having Rui’s spare keys.
It seems fine at first, until you realise the true horrors this thing can do (oh god)

Unfortunately, Rui was out running errands, so he couldn’t rush home. He sighed and continued to walk, practically giving up on ever getting that hoodie back.

The painfully bright light of the morning shone onto Rui’s eyelids, forcing him awake. He turned on his side slowly and unwillingly pried his eyes open.
“Good morning, son.”
“Wh.. AAAAAHH!!”
“Pfft.. Hahahaha!!! That’s the loudest I’ve heard you scream!!!”
“What are you doing here..!? Why are you in my bed!?”
“I was just feeling a little lonely.. Ena is out for the day for university stuff!!”
“That doesn’t give you the right to barge in like that..!!”
Mizuki sat up from the bed with the cheekiest grin on their face, resuming their laughter after some time.
‘This girl..’

Tsukasa was over at Rui’s place for the day, and they just hung out in a comfortable silence in his room. They chatted for a while, until Tsukasa leaned over to give him a small peck on the lips.
“Hey..”
“Hehe.. You just looked too cute while you were talking!! I can’t help myself..”
“You.. You’re too much sometimes..”
“Oh, am I?”
He smirked and pushed Rui down onto the mattress below, propping his hands beside his head and effectively pinning him. The two of them locked eyes for a moment, as Tsukasa had the look of an insatiable hunger in his eyes.
‘Ah, this is..’
Rui blushed and looked to the side, noticing an awfully familiar figure in the crack of his room door. He shot up almost instantly, smacking Tsukasa in the face as he did so.
“Ow..!! What was that for..—”
He pointed to the door and tugged at Tsukasa’s arm, making him look in that direction too.
“Waah!! I’m sorry!! I just wanted to pass you something, Rui..!!”
Mizuki opened the door slightly, awkwardly scratching their head.
“M.. Mizuki..!? How did you get in here!?”
“They have a pair of my spare keys..”
Tsukasa turned an embarrassing shade of red, slowly climbing off Rui and moving to the other side of the bed.
“Noo..!! Continue, please!! I’ll just leave it on the kitchen counter..!!”
“Now I don’t know if you’re gonna be here to watch or not..”
“Weh.. Of course not!! Just continue with whatever you were doing.. I.. I was never here!!!”
Mizuki turned around and swiftly slammed the door; they could be heard leaving after a few minutes.
“S-Sorry about that.. I forgot to tell you..”
“.. Is that why you never want me over..??”
“Yeah..”

I know, absolute chaos.
Why didn’t I add this in? Well, other than the fact it’s way too much power for one character, I find it funnier if mizuki stands outside waiting for rui, especially if you consider the main story which mostly consists of it :)

The next idea is on Tsukasa’s side this time, and it’s just Emu’s involvement in his life..

‘What are we even going to do, anyway..??—’
There was a knock at the door, and Tsukasa had gone down to see who it was.
‘Is it a delivery? I told Saki to direct it to a post office and not—’
“TSUKASA-KUN!!!!!!”
“Wh- EMU..!?”
“Konnichi-wandahoi!!! I’m here!! Wahaha!”
“I just texted you!! Were you in the area or something..!?”
“Hehe.. Nope! I just ran here!!”
“You WHAT!?”

“Tsukasa-kun, I got you a lego set!!”
“Oh, that’s nice..”
“Uhuh!! Do you wanna build it together?”
“Ah, sure! Since you’re here now..”
The two gathered at the living room and began to build, even though it was Tsukasa who was doing most, if not all, of the work. He didn’t mind though, since it kept the both of them busy. A while later, the set had been completed, but something was very off.
‘.. Why are there so many spare parts..!?’
Tsukasa frantically scanned through the manual, but it didn’t seem like he’d missed any steps. Emu just stared and smiled cheekily, watching as he panicked over the ‘completed’ model. She definitely had something to do with it, but he had no idea what it was.

It’s not like I didn’t want to add this in, but it was more of just me being afraid that adding random moments like this would be straying too far from the main story (◞‸◟)
(this is coming from someone who added way too many extra interactions between side characters into the actual fic.. guilty..)

One final implementation (which is actually more of a one off thought more than anything) is simply swapping their friends around :3
Basically, Rui gets Emu, and Tsukasa gets Nene
No clue how they would meet, but I just thought it’d be funny (and i would have an excuse to add as much emurui as i want WAHAHA)

~ Rui’s POV:
Since Ena was away for the weekend, Rui was left to babysit the two girls on their shopping trip. It was initially meant to be just Mizuki and Rui, but Emu decided to tag along for the fun of it. However, that meant that he had not one, but two little gremlins to deal with.
“Rui-kun, Mizuki!! Look!! Taiyaki, taiyaki!!”
“Ooh!! It looks good!”
“Let’s go get some!!”
“Yeah, let’s go!!”
The two of them dragged Rui by both his arms, pulling him towards the stand before he could react.
“W-Wait..!! Where are we going..!?”

“Tsukasa did WHAT!?”
“Rui-kun, Rui-kun!! Does that mean you have a boyfriend now!?”
“Yeah, what she said!!”
Rui sighed. It was definitely not the day to deal with the two of them; at his throat about Tsukasa, not to mention.
“Oh come on.. It was just an offer..”
“And you’re taking it, right!? You have to!!”
Emu nodded aggressively, shaking Rui by the shoulders to the point he’d gotten nauseous.
“Take it, take it!! Take the offer!!!”
“Yeah yeah, take it!!”
This was going to be a long day. Why was he friends with so many extroverts?

~ Tsukasa’s POV:
“Nene, you have to help me out..!!”
“God, what is it this time?? I was in the middle of a match. This’d better be good.”
“I.. I’m not into him, right?? I mean.. Kamishiro just invited me out.. It’s not a date, it’s not, right!?”
“You know, the more you talk, the less convincing you become.”
Nene rolled her eyes and put her headphones back on, resuming her video games.
‘That’s not helping at all..!!’
“But.. I.. I don’t like him like that!!”
His words were returned with silence, and he crossed his arms and huffed angrily.
“Hmph! I wanted you to help me out!!”
“I can still hear you, you know.”
“Eek! Stop doing that!! Eavesdropper!!”
“Nothing you say is important, dumbass.”
“Ha-.. I-.. Rude!!”

“Yeah.. Cute, huh?”
Nene raised an eyebrow and gave Tsukasa the most revolted expression he’d ever seen her make.
“What?? He’s cute!!”
“He looks like a Nightcord mod.”
“Aren’t you one too!?”
“I mean that in a derogatory way, stupid.”
“But.. You..!! Ugh.. I can never have a proper conversation with you!!!”
“Develop better taste and maybe I’ll be constructive about it.”
“My taste is perfectly fine! I don’t know what you’re talking about!”
“Uh huh, right.”
“Grrh..”

Although I have made it canon that Rui does get forcefed veggies, I thought we’d dive into that more in depth cause i just think it’s a really funny idea..

~ Tsukasa’s POV:
It was a plan. Tsukasa wanted to hide some veggies in their dinner, just so Rui would eat them. He hadn’t been giving him attention at all that day, so this was just simple payback. The ‘victim’ had stepped into the kitchen and wrapped his arms around Tsukasa’s waist, just as he’d put the vegetables away.
“What are you making, Tsukasa?”
“.. Dinner.”
“What is it?”
“Oh, nothing! Just some chicken, soup, rice and ca-..”
Tsukasa zipped his mouth shut instantly, halting his cutting; which’d gotten Rui’s curiosity.
“.. Ca.. What..?”
“Nothing.”
He could feel Rui growing suspicious, but he couldn’t budge at all. If anything seemed out of the ordinary, his plans to get him to eat his vegetables would’ve been foiled. Rui looked around for said ingredient, which Tsukasa had deliberately hidden before he came into the kitchen.
‘Phew.. I hid those goo—’
“Tsukasa.. What is this..?”
Rui pulled a container of finely chopped carrots out of the fridge, turning to him with an expression as if it was poison.
‘.. Crap!! I’ve been found out..!!’
“N-Nothing!! That’s.. For Saki’s breakfast tomorrow..?”
“.. You could’ve cut these tomorrow then..”
“I.. Wouldn’t have the time..!!”
He narrowed his eyes and frowned, using one of Tsukasa’s biggest weaknesses; his face.
“You aren’t putting this stuff in our dinner.. Right..?”
“No!! Of course not..!!”

“Noo!! I don’t wanna!!”
“Goodness.. Just eat..!!!”
For the past half an hour or so, Tsukasa had been chasing Rui all over the house with a piece of carrot. He’d cut them a little too large, so they were unfortunately noticed by Rui while they were eating. The one in question shook his head vigorously, while Tsukasa continued to poke at his cheek with his chopsticks.
“Rui! Eat!”
He simply sealed his mouth shut and shook his head, not wanting to take any chances.
“.. No more kisses from me then.”
Rui whipped his head back around to look at Tsukasa, giving him the puppy eyes he couldn’t resist. But he wasn’t backing down that easily.
“You either eat this, or you won’t have kisses.. Ever!!!”
He continued to pout, tugging pleadingly at Tsukasa’s shirt. Despite all that, Rui still kept his mouth closed. He was persistent. Tsukasa needed to come up with a new plan, stat.
“Gah.. Fine!!”
Tsukasa ate the carrot and sighed, while Rui smiled and scooted closer to him in his seat. Though, he had one trick up his sleeve.
“Hehe.. Thank you, Tsuka— Mmf!?”
He forcibly pressed his lips against Rui’s and pushed the piece of carrot — which he’d cautiously hidden under his tongue — into his mouth, pulling away and placing his hand over it immediately afterwards, making sure Rui couldn’t spit it out. Thank goodness for his experience as an actor; fake chewing had never been easier.
“Eat.”
Tsukasa narrowed his eyes and continued to firmly hold his hand in place, taking advantage of the fact that he was much stronger than Rui, and he couldn’t pull his hand off even if he tried. The other finally gave up and started to chew, with Tsukasa only removing his hand after confirming he’d eaten it.
“There we go! Wasn’t so hard now, was it?”
“.. Can you feed me like this every time..?”
‘.. Seriously!?’

~ Tsukasa’s POV:
Since Rui was out for the day, Tsukasa decided to take some time to clean up his desk, since it was a mess. He was always working on something new, so it was good to have a clean and neat space to work in.
‘Ahh.. Where do I even start..!?’
Tsukasa cleared the desk, organised his notes, stationary, and even accessed his computer to see if there was something he could do there too. He didn’t want to ruin any of his work there however, so Tsukasa chose to snoop around instead.
‘Hm.. Sample audios.. Instrument zip files.. Uhm.. “Very important”..??’
Curious, he clicked into the folder and was greeted with several more, which all appeared blank or void at first glance. Tsukasa clicked into one of the void folders, only to find pictures. On closer inspection, it seemed to be fanart.
‘Oh, he saves fanart.. Of.. Me..’
As Tsukasa ventured into the depths of Rui’s files, he started to notice one of them was full of what looked to be the same person’s art. Not only that, he was starting to find more with both of them in it.
‘Wait.. How do they know what Rui looks like..?? It has to be someone we know, then..’
They were all of similar styles, to the point where it seemed like this particular artist was quite the fan of his. Though, as he continued to browse, Tsukasa realised that it seemed pretty familiar.
‘.. Isn’t this Ena’s art style..!?’
He’d commissioned her before, so her style couldn’t be mistaken. However, before Tsukasa could properly process the situation, he heard a voice at the door of his room.
“.. Tsukasa..? What are you doing at my computer?”
Usually, hearing Rui’s voice was a blessing to anyone, but he was the last person he wanted to hear at that very moment. Tsukasa panicked and turned around, trying his best to block out whatever he was doing with his arms.
“Rui..!! Haha.. You’re back early..”
“What are you doing..?”
“I.. I-I was just.. Organising your desk..!!”
“.. But.. My monitor is on..”
Rui approached him, but not before Tsukasa ran over and tackled him into a hug, making sure he was facing away from his desk.
“You’re back already..!! Are you hungry? Do you want some dinner..?”
“Tsukasa.. What were you— Mm..”
Using his last resort, he leaned over and gave Rui a kiss — a really long one, at that. He pushed Tsukasa’s lips away from his own after some struggle, finally getting free and walking over to his computer.
“W-Wait!! Rui! Don’t.. Look at that..”
~ Rui’s POV:
‘N-No way..’
“.. Oh.”
“I.. I’m sorry!! I got curious..”
Rui turned back with a face redder than the colour itself, shutting his setup down without even looking at his screen.
“.. Rui.. I-..”
“.. Do you think I'm weird..?”
“No!! Not at all!!”
The air went silent for a moment, while Tsukasa stepped closer and slid his arms around Rui’s neck.
“I’ll still love you no matter what, Rui.”
“.. No matter what..??”
“Okay- well.. Maybe not if you’re a murderer or a cannibal or just.. Morally unsound.. But no matter what otherwise!!”
Tsukasa smiled and pressed a soft kiss onto Rui’s lips, and the other reciprocated quickly.
“So.. You didn’t see the other folder.. Right..?”
“What other folder?”
“.. Good.”

Funny enough, I was actually going to make this a trilogy (kill me)
Basically, MizuEna (established relationship since the start of the fic) would be the prologue, which is a completely new story arc that takes place during their middle to high school era :)

It’ll be the same format, but im still in a dilemma of whether i want to add smut or not.

Q: How did you come up with some of the display names here?
A: I just took words from canon references and added them to their names.. Kamisho comes from the Kami in Kamishiro, and Sho simply comes from the word ‘showtime’ (cuz i thought it was cute..)
Same with MERFURU, nene’s nc tag.. “mer” comes from the word ‘mermaid’, and furu comes from the japanese translation of grapefruit, ‘gurepufurutsu’.. which is her favourite fruit :3
For other names like Amia and Enanan, I simply took their current nightcord tags and added them in..

Q: What inspired your custom designs for the characters?
A: Nothing, actually.. I just wanted to put them in cute outfits I headcanoned they would wear.. and it spiralled into full new designs for them..
I also wanted to see Rui with longer hair and glasses, cuz the mage card has me absolutely feral
Same with Kanade, I fell in love with her vday card and wanted to give her a cute hairstyle too..
This also gives me an excuse to absolutely deco the hell out of the diva characters as much as I want, and I LOVE HOW THEIR OUTFITS TURNED OUT.. AAAA

Q: It’s mentioned that Tsukasa is trans in the fic, is he open about it/out to anybody?
A: Technically yes, but it’s not mentioned at all outside of the smut parts.. So that was just because I find it easier to write with trans characters HAHAHA
I’m actually not sure because I would think most of his fans wouldn’t know he’s trans ftm and assume he was born male already (I haven’t done much research on openly transgender celebrities but I don’t think it’s very talked about, especially in a country like japan)
There are some fans who have done some digging and found out and it is occasionally talked about; but tsukasa’s gender isn’t really that popular of a topic among his fans imo – he’s just their little pretty boy AHAHA
So i’d say he’s not that open about it but he’s willing to clarify if anyone asks (saki and emu know about it at the very least :3)

Q: What are the names of Rui’s and Tsukasa’s fans if they have one? Like how Vtubers have fan names and stuff
A: OH MY GOD.. I actually came up with this on the spot cuz the question is so good.. BUT BUT
tsukasas fans are called hygens (ハイジェの haijeno) because its short for hydrogen and they are what stars are made up of .. (nerdy i know…)
for kamisho and HEAR ME OUT ON THIS ONE.. ai-shas (アイシャ or 愛者), which comes from the word aiko-sha (愛好者) because the kami in kamisho means god or some form of deity, and aikoshas are followers or devotees……
funny enough aisha actually means lover, so kamisho fans are essentially his lovers BAHAHAHA
I like to think rui’s fans came up with ai-sho (愛ショウ), which literally translates to “love sho” and just started calling themselves that instead of aishas.. its a cult yall..

A: Yes.. He’s heavily HEAVILY inspired by Iyowa, 40mp and toa (and a little bit of MIMI..) if it wasnt obvious enough HAHA and if anyone is asking YES I AM ABSOLUTELY BREAKING DOWN OVER WXS COVERING LIVING MILLENIUM.. MY KAMISHO DREAMS ARE MATERIALISING WAAAA

A: I WAS WAITING FOR THIS QUESTION (i was procrastinating answering it cause i never actually found a country that fit perfectly)
for those wondering (and werent paying attention /lh) no it is not America
reason being because the US has the 4 seasons, in which tsukasa explains how they’re in a country that lies near the equator — where those countries don’t experience the seasons
I initially wanted it to be dubai, since it was kinda fancy and very airi vibes but decided not to cause of the conversion rates and it doesnt lie near the equator despite it being a somewhat tropical country
then I was thinking of southeast asia, since some countries there are right on the equator; but again due to conversion rates and or the general geographical structure of the countries — like being too small, not having that many large beaches, etc — there wasn’t much i could really do (wouldve been so fun to bring airi and the gang to my own country though, lmao)
also about the conversion rates, I would expect airi to fly somewhere a little more expensive since she has some disposable income (“some” disposable income)
FINALLY FINALLY i chose ecuador, since they use USD and because it lies right smack on the equator
they probably went somewhere near the coast, so there IS a beach there hehe
THE TIMEZONE IS ALSO HILARIOUSLY FITTING since japan is GMT 9 is and ecuador is GMT-5
