Chapter 5: Injury

Chapter Text

"We're all running around like a bunch of headless chickens!"
Orange complained, his hand clutching a blade of the teal grass below him, his other arm holding onto the knocked-out Cyan defensively. He gets up and puts Cyan's body over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes like nothing. He starts walking towards the village.

"Well, what do you expect us to do!?"
Yellow called out, frustrated over her boyfriend's words. She runs to go next to him, gloved hands on her hips. Green is already ahead of them.

"I don't know - tell your older brother! Dandelion might be able to help us figure out what to do with Cyan." Orange says, turning his head to look at Yellow.

"Dandy doesn't like you-"

"Yellow, we need our leader." He places a gloved hand on Yellow's shoulder. "Ask him." He kisses her cheek, causing her to smile, just a little bit. Cyan still doesn't move, even after a few hours. Blixer's strength scares all of them if he's able to knock out (and probably kill) the damn leader of the Guardians.

Yellow mutters under her breath.

"Fine, I'll ask him. But why Dandy?"

"Honestly, he's the first guy I thought of that could help us since we don't know where Captain, Heli, or Blue are."

"Alright."

The two are silent, walking alongside each other, worry in Yellow's steps, and frustration in Orange's. He decides to ask her something that's been bothering him.

"Yellow?"

"Yes?"

"Do you think… if it wasn't for Cyan trying to protect Blue, we wouldn't be here?"

"What?" She sounded offended. "You mean if Cyan let Blue die, we wouldn't have to deal with the Pink Corruption? We're the Guardians-this" She points to the volcano behind the vibrant teal hills, its once blue stream now a bright pink, signaling its corruption and Blixer's rule. "is our job-" She argued.

"I know that!" He raises his voice, cutting her off. She growls, fuming. Orange sighs. "Let me reword it: You think if Blue had a harder heart, didn't befriend that Monster, and didn't try to cure him of his corruption, you'd think we'd be here?"

She shakes her head. "We can't blame Blue for the corruption of Paradise, nor can we blame her for wanting to help her so-called friend." Orange raises a finger, about to comment. "But we can't blame the Monster either."

"Then who can we blame?"

Her gaze becomes hard, and she turns her head to look at…

Cyan.
