Chapter Text
Although you could feel the exhaustion from traveling all day catching up to you, you felt a sudden rush of energy due to the night you had.
It was dark out, the streets bare except for the occasional car speeding by, leaving gusts of wind to rush past the left side of your exposed face. You quickened your pace, feeling your body starting to tense up from the cold.
Usually meeting new people stresses you out but something felt so comforting being in his presence. You couldn’t contain your vivacity and dialed up your friend’s phone number putting your phone to your ear while seeing the condensation from your lengthy exhaled breaths.
She didn’t answer. You weren’t that worried because you had a spare key and would see her soon, she was probably already asleep. You didn’t realize how long you stayed over, feeling a bit bad about not following through with your plans, but sure that she’ll be understanding later given the circumstances.
Sure enough, your hypothesis was confirmed when you went up the elevator, opened the front door of the apartment, and peeked into the main bedroom to see her sound asleep.
You decided that tomorrow you were going to spend time job searching around the city, since you are planning to stay put in Toronto for a while, needing to find your bearings again. Sleep didn’t come to you easily that night, however. Your mind racing with this new person you met today.

The next morning you got up a little earlier than your usual wake-up time, deciding to make breakfast for yourself and Daphne.
“Hey! Good morning” you said brightly to your friend who just walked into the kitchen.
“Good morning. Wow look at you making breakfast” She smiled.
“I know right, I don’t know-I woke up on the right side of the bed today I guess,” you said jokingly, “By the way, sorry I stayed over there so long last night, I know I said we were gonna hang later” apologetically looking at her.
“Dude don’t worry about it” She waved her hand dismissively, and then inquired, “Speaking of that, how was it catching up with her, anything fun happen?”
You talked a bit about the previous night, slowly trailing off when you thought of who you also met for the first time last night, turning off the stove and taking the pan off of the heat, looking to the ground. “I don’t want to sound cliche but-“ you pause, tensing up.
“Ok, now you have to tell me, What?” She inquired curiously.
“I met one of her boyfriend’s friends last night and like, it felt…I don’t know how to say it” You felt embarrassed and started to clean the plates you dirtied from making breakfast in the sink, and then later attempting to change the subject.
“Wait Wait! You can’t just drop a bomb like that and not tell me more” She yelled
You groaned, wishing you never brought it up. “I literally met him yesterday-I don’t know why I’m already talking like I know him. But for some reason, we just clicked. I’m kind of sad because I don’t know if I’ll ever see him again, but I want to? I don’t know I just feel drawn to him” You start to feel vulnerable but you know you can trust Daphne so you spill your guts to her.
“First of all, you will definitely see him again because he’s in the same circle of friends as you, and second don’t feel dumb for feeling that way. Sometimes even when you first meet someone you can just tell when it feels right. Oh my god, that was so cliche.” You both burst out laughing.
"But you know what I mean."
You halfheartedly smiled at her while informing her of your plans for the day, heading for your makeshift bedroom in the guest room. She shouted “Thanks for making breakfast” as you shut the door and began to prepare for your long day of job hunting ahead. It felt good to get your feelings off your chest, and you knew that Daphne really cared about you, so you took her kind words to heart, grateful to have a friend like her.
