Chapter Text
"Christmas abroad is a family holiday," she tried to cheer up her six younger brothers, who were lying depressed on the floor of their room. She stood with her arms folded.
"Good for them," said Osomatsu depressed.
"Are we foreigners or do we live in another country?" said Totty in annoyance.
"No, we live in Japan!" replied Jyushimatsu also annoyed, but at the same time with his typical charismatic enthusiasm.
"Fucking Christmas..." said Karamatsu depressed.
"But ______ is right, maybe we should be more positive about it and take a family approach to Christmas," said Choromatsu.
"Thank you Choro," she whispered. "Come on, cheer up, it's not all bad — I'll bring you KFC, it's on me, but I'll need someone to help me."
"I'll help you," said Ichimatsu taking the cat off his back and getting up from the floor.
"Thank you," she said smiling.
"You're welcome."
They went down to the first floor and went to the door to put on their shoes and get her bag, but Ichimatsu was too fresh for her consideration, so she insisted that he dress warmer. She didn't want him to get sick. He ignored her, but she took one of her scarves, a red one, and threw it around his neck, tying it so it wouldn't slip off while he, blushing from having her so close, kept his eyes down to avoid making eye contact.
"How about if I get food at a more local place?" She asked Ichimatsu as they left the house. It wasn't dark yet, the sky was yellow, orange and red but the street lights of all kinds were already on. "I guess they'll have fewer people and be faster and cheaper, but I don't know how the change will sit with these guys..."
"Fuck them if they mind it's not KFC, they must be grateful that you went to buy them food and more so on a day like this."
She took her hand and her mobile phone out of her coat pocket to Google some place where they made fried chicken, and while they were at it, fries too.
At the entrance of the place they found, they got rid of their coats and scarves. Ichimatsu offered to carry hers. Luckily they were going fast and didn't have to wait long considering the day it was.
"Hello couple, what can I get you?" asked a cheerful older lady at the bar when it was their turn, making them blush.
"We a-," Ichimatsu tried to rectify the lady a little embarrassed, but his sister was quicker to open her mouth.
"Hi," she said smiling and playing along with the older lady, "can we have six buckets of six fried chicken wings and one of fries, please?"
"Sure," she replied.
"Just six?" he asked her in a whisper in a quizzical voice.
"The fries are enough for me," she replied.
By the time they left the shop it was already dark and Ichimatsu insisted on carrying all the bags of food. She said she could carry one of them herself, that they didn't weigh much, but he said it was the least he could do for her considering the gesture she had made for him and the rest.
Luckily, when they arrived at the house the table was already set as she had texted Totty that they were on their way, and the cooker was set. They still had the kotatsu to warm them up.
As usual they ate at lightning speed, which was normal in such a big family where they had to make sure no one took their food away from them. She was the first to finish her dinner for obvious reasons, although she occasionally made eyes at the fried chicken.
"Here," said Ichimatsu, handing her his bucket.
"No no, it's yours, thank you," she said.
"You literally bought it yourself," he said.
"Are you still hungry?" Osomatsu asked.
"I'll get something from the kitchen later," she said.
"If all of we give her a piece, she would have a bucket," said Choromatsu.
"Good idea brother," said Karamatsu.
Jyushimatsu got up from the floor and went to the kitchen to get a plate for his sister, leaving it on the table where they each gave her one of their pieces.
"No, seriously, guys," she said looking at them, but Ichimatsu leaned a little to her side and touched her shoulder with his to get her attention.
"Eat."
"Well, okay."
