Summary:

“You should learn how to use makeup as well, Akito. I think you'd look great.”

Akito made a small sound, choking on his own words. Him?

Would he really?

“Y-yeah? Well I'd…probably just end up using a little, anyways. I only really know how to apply concealer,” Akito says, tripping over his own words. “Ena teased me to hell and back for putting it on, though.”

Toya giggled before taking a moment to look away in deep thought, silver eyes fixated somewhere on the covers under him. Akito was sure that he already knew what Toya's idea was before he even said it.

“Hey, Akito… would you like me to do your makeup for you?”

And, sure enough, he was correct.

Work Text:

It was about half past 7pm.

Toya sniffled through his nose while he fumbled with the strings of the hoodie he was wearing, pulling on the ropes of fabric as he waited outside. The frosty breeze drifting through the cold winter air grazed against his rosy cheeks, and a thin cloud of air escaped his lips each time he exhaled. He rocked on his feet a little, staring at the door in front of him.

Just about a few hours ago at WEEKEND GARAGE, Toya had insisted that he come over to the Shinonomes to tutor Akito after practice. A crucial math exam was coming up next week, and as always, Akito wasn’t the most keen on studying for it.

Thankfully, Ken had already become well aware of the upcoming test and decided to cancel practice for the week so they could focus on their studies, mainly for An and Akito after last year’s supplementary class disaster. The news had overjoyed Toya, because now it meant that he could freely help his partner out on his…concerning academic struggles, much like he used to before the group decided to take practicing far more seriously. It took plenty of persistence and convincing to get his partner on board, though. Both his scary glares and puppy-eyed pleads combined within Akito’s head for him to finally—and hesitantly—give in with a grumble.

Now there he was in the dim late afternoon light, patiently standing in front of the Shinonome household’s door. One of his hands laid limp over his school bag, which was slinged over his shoulder and packed to the brim with books and lessons eagerly waiting to be taught. In the other was his phone, the freezing cold device opened to his messages with Akito. Toya’s stiff thumb slowly tapped at the screen to send him a text that read ‘I’m here’ followed by a waving panda sticker. It definitely wasn’t the coldest weather he’s ever experienced, and it wasn't like he was sensitive to cold air, either. However he’d be a liar if he had claimed his nose wasn’t already starting to get red and stuffy, and his fingers weren’t painfully frosting from the icy air to the point they began to feel numb.

Once the door finally opened, the warmth of the all-too-familiar living room lights burst through the opening of the door frame as they casted a soft honey orange glow, and there stood his partner’s sister Ena, dressed up in a cozy yet fashionable outfit.

“Oh, Toya-kun,” Ena said, a fond smile quickly spreading on her face as she craned her head to look up at him, wrapping her scarf on. “You can come in, Akito’s in his room moping around. My mom and I are going out to shop together, and my dad’s out painting in his studio or whatever, so it’ll just be you two for a while.”

“Thank you, Ena-san. I hope you and your mother have a nice time shopping.” Toya smiled as he replied before walking into the living room. Ena leaned beside the door, turning around as her mom finally stepped out of her room and greeted their current guest with her warm and welcoming grin. Toya often thought about how much she reminded him of Akito.

“Ah, welcome Toya-kun. Tutoring Akito again I see?” she beamed, noticing the heavy-looking school bag hanging loosely on his shoulder.

“Yes, there’s an exam coming up soon, so I wanted to help. Thank you for allowing me to visit once again. I’ll do my best to make sure Akito studies well today.” Toya accompanies his words with a polite smile and a bow.

“Oh my, It’s no problem at all! Thank you for always taking care of my Akito. You can set your jacket and things down wherever you’d like.” She gently pats his shoulder. “We’ll be out for a while, so good luck!” Toya waved as he watched her walk up to Ena before they exited the home together and shut the door behind them.

Time to get started

Toya peeled off his jacket, neatly hanging it up on the hanger by the door before slipping off his shoes. He bent down to pick up and place the pair next to the others that lay on the floor. The sudden change in temperature that occurred once he entered made his body slightly shiver as he stood back up with less layers on, and he could feel his previously icy fingers slowly begin to thaw from the warmth of the house while he made his way to Akito’s room. Quickly after knocking at the door, that warm, familiar voice quietly yelled out in response; “Coming,” with a bit of a sleepy rasp tied to it.

The door opens to the sight of his dearest partner, his boyfriend, Akito. Toya's face instantly softened at the sight of him even though the other was clearly tired and disheveled. His messy orange hair with the iconic yellow highlight in front of his bangs, those olive green eyes that were droopy and fatigued, he would stare at all of him all day forever if he could. But he can't waste his time swooning over him—that wasn’t his priority here. There was an important test he tasked himself to prepare his partner for, after all.

“Hello, Akito. I've brought all the notes and materials for today, so let's work hard,” he said, determination present in his voice. Akito already let out the first groan of the study session the second the syllables of the words “notes” and “materials” reached his ears.

“Yeah, yeah..” Akito shuffled to the side, scratching his neck as he watched Toya step into his room, a room that was always bursting with the same personality its inhabitant carried. It all screamed the fiery, passionate Akito he knew and admired. Whenever Toya came over, he couldn't help but stare at each and every unique element within those walls.

However, he knew that he didn't have time to stare today. He quickly redirected his mind so it was fully glued to helping Akito succeed. He made his way to the desk in Akito's room, slinging his bag over one of the chairs. He carefully moved some items to the side to clear up space and opened his bag to neatly lay out all of the materials one by one with the precision nothing short of a top student.

“Do we have to do this today?” Akito complained as he watched the other set up the area with a deep focus.

A scowl immediately formed on Toya's face at the question, and Akito flinched as soon as he saw it.

“I mean, ‘cause the test isn't till, like, next week, y'know..” he grumbled in an attempt to add reasoning.

“Yes, Akito, we have to study today.” Toya reprimanded. His gaze stayed turned away from him, eyes and hands busy focusing on making sure a pencil on the desk stayed perfectly still. “It'll be better if you practice everything now, so you'll be able to remember it all before the exam. It’s quite a lot of material, after all.”

Akito sighs dejectedly, walking over to the chair reserved for him before plopping himself onto it in utter defeat.

“I'll see if I can visit again or call you the day before the exam to make sure you've properly reviewed everything, too.” Toya continued as he neatened a thick stack of scratch paper against the desk.

“Geez, alright, man...Let's just get this over with.”

About an hour later, Akito was hit with the crushing reality that he's 100% hopeless.

That's the norm when it comes to studying for him. Math has never been his strong suit ever since elementary, besides the basics, of course. It sure still isn't years later as Akito clicked his tongue at the sloppily written formula on his worksheet. He's pretty sure he heard something wrong and messed up halfway through Toya’s lecture, because he simply can't seem to make it work. Nothing seemed to make sense at all, and he began to chew on his lip out of the frustration he can't let out. But that wasn't the only part of him that he found was pathetically hopeless.

His brain's all empty except for one thing, or one person rather, floating around in it – Toya.

In all honesty, he's definitely been tuning out Toya's lecturing, even though he knew he shouldn't be. Yet he just can't bring himself to pay attention to such a huge amount of useless math junk when he's too busy shifting his focus to his partner sitting next to him instead. He watched attentively as those soft lips of his moved with every word, number and variable he spoke, the eyelids blinking over silver eyes and focusing so seriously on some stupid math guidebook. And those dexterous slender hands that effortlessly flipped through the pages…

His mind eventually wanders back to a particularly cozy memory of his, one from the start of their relationship not too long ago from the moment he was currently living. It was no more than a few months back when Akito's hands had shyly, clumsily grazed over those same hands for the very first time. The sheepish smile and soft yet prominent blush that graced his partner’s face, the textured and almost rough feeling of the wooden bench just underneath them that seemed to fade away from how warm he had felt, the trees that had begun to turn orange that surrounded them outside and carried the smell of autumn.

Toya was just too terribly pretty.

Practically anyone could agree, really. It was a well known fact that Toya was completely above average in the appearance department — so much so that he was simply enchanting.

As a result it was no wonder why Akito would become frozen and utterly enamored at the sight of him sometimes. Whenever his lips part and head adorably tilts when he's confused or thinking about something, or at times where the glow of the dim moonlight that tends to appear after a live show makes him look especially more ethereal than usual, pale skin glowing in the light. The way that the iconic mole on his cheek right below one of his sharp gray eyes always compliments his graceful features, the smooth elegance of his singing and movements as he's performing.. That one sickly sweet smile dripping with such mirth that Toya reserves solely for him, and only him. And how it all looked somehow impossibly better when he saw him wearing makeup for the first time earlier in the year.

It's another memory that Akito remembered clearly, it was Valentine's day. On that day, Kohane surprised An with some cute looking chocolates she won, and Toya, who helped her out, gifted him some really tasty chocolate bonbons too. Apparently they entered a photo contest to win them, and Toya was Kohane’s model. As if it happened yesterday, he fully remembered how fast his heart started instantly running endless tracks when he saw the photos Kohane had expertly taken of his partner.

He really needed to ask Kohane about getting into photography after seeing those pictures. He also knew that he needed to thank her profusely, maybe give her something as a gift out of his gratitude.

Another thing that Akito had often liked was the way Toya said his name. So tender, as if it was something so incredibly precious and truly treasured. As if it deserved to be said with such reverence, like that of a valuable prized possession. It made his chest feel tight and fizzy each and every time those lips that he loved so much spoke those specific syllables.

Akito .”

…Well, that was a bit of a sterner tone, but something like that. It still made his heart race all the same. Sadly, his blissful daydreaming was soon interrupted when he heard the same tone of voice repeat itself once more, snapping him back into dreadful reality again.

“Akito? Are you zoning out already?”

Akito blinked. Fuck. He clears his throat and coughs to alleviate the shame from his previous thoughts.

“W-whuh? Uh- nah…I'm listening.” The tips of his ears started to burn.

“Akito…” Toya let out a sigh dripping with disappointment, one Akito practically felt physically as he watched the other bring a hand up to pinch at the bridge of his nose. “This part of the formula is important to remember, so I need you to pay attention.” he scolded, his eyebrows furrowing.

“Sorry,” Akito grumbled remorsefully as he rested his face onto his arms. The soft yet itchy fabric of his sleeves tickled uncomfortably against his nose making him shift his head from its previous spot with a huff. He felt bad, but he was genuinely too bored and tired out of his mind to care. Toya looked at him and away from the guidebook for a moment, a quiet and sympathetic glance before letting out a soft sigh.

“It’s fine. If anything, I feel like I should be the one to apologize…” Akito’s eyes shot open to look up at him in confusion, seeing a guilty look plastered across his partner's face.

“And why's that?”

Toya thumbs the end of his pen, averting his gaze. “It’s because you're probably far too tired to do this right now...We did have a very long day of practice, after all.” He eventually sets his pen down and looks at the sizable pile of unfinished worksheets just above his guidebook. “I shouldn't push you too hard.”

“Hey, don’t beat yourself up over it, man…” Akito mummered. “I'm kinda tired, yeah, but it's not your fault. No need to apologize.” Toya didn't look too convinced, however, because soon after Akito chuckled out a "I'm telling ya dude, don't worry.” Toya then let out a sigh of relief.

They sat there in silence for a minute, Toya letting out a quiet hum as he gazed back at his partner who lifted his head up from being buried in his own arms to let out a yawn. Seeing him do that caused a new idea to pop up in the taller’s head.

“Well, tomorrow is Saturday.. would you find it more suitable if we worked on this then instead? I'll stay over tonight,” he spoke before giving a pitying smile.

Much to Akito’s surprise and relief, Toya wasn't as strict as he usually was whenever it came to studying sessions this time around. There had been quite a few times where he stayed over at the Shinonome household before, but they hadn’t been able to as much as they used to recently due to how busy they’ve been with practice and the seemingly never ending amount of livehouses they entertained until it turned dark outside. Confetti poppers burst happily in his head in celebration at Toya’s proposal, although that relief would most definitely end as soon as he woke up tomorrow.

“Totally fine with me. I'd much rather hang out right now, anyways.” Akito grinned cheekily.

Toya let out a chuckle at that, the pleasant noise reaching Akito’s ears as the taller one began to neatly put back all the worksheets and books into his bag. Akito just about leaped up from his chair and let himself fall onto his unmade bed with a relieved sigh. Not long after, Toya finished putting everything away and came over to lay down and curl up in his favorite spot on his partner's bed and looked at the other with a loving smile.

The mood became far lighter once the two laid on the messy yet soft blankets on top of the mattress. Akito soon wrapped an arm around Toya's shoulder, pulling him in closer while the other hand picked up his phone that had been previously left by his pillow before beginning to scroll on it. They stayed like that for a while; Toya reached behind him into his bag to whisk out a novel he had been in the middle of reading while Akito shared some videos on his phone and soon after read some manga digitally. Eventually the two began idly chatting about different things, sharing music with a pair of earbuds—It’s not the most romantic, but the two of them found such a deep momentary peace in simply being able to stay close to one another and basking comfortably in each other's presences like they always have, even before they started dating. It should’ve felt normal at that point and not something worth a huge reaction, but both of them still got so incredibly giddy and peaceful at times like this. Toya’s slow and gentle rocking against him only added more onto these feelings, and neither of them would ever trade these moments of solace for the world. Usually after a while they’d watch movies together, play some games, maybe even indulge in a bit of vocal practices and exercises together.

But tonight, Akito’s mind couldn’t help but race itself back to that damned day in February; the stunning makeup that was put on Toya's face in those photos.. It made him think more about makeup in general, like when he was little and would watch Ena as she used makeup products from the ginormous stashes of it that were kept in her room, or a few years later when he first applied concealer onto his face to cover up his freckles, although he's been doing that much less now.

His heart suddenly started to beat faster in his chest as he recalls the events, and the words leave his mouth before he can even realize that he's speaking.

“Hey, Toya… you still remember how to put on makeup?” Akito doesn’t even recognize that the question is coming from himself because of how his voice embarrassingly cracks.

Toya pauses his subtle rocking back and forth to glance over at Akito. “Hm? Well, the basics, yes. Kiritani-san taught me.” He tilts his head a little as he speaks just like a dog. It's cute.

“Why?”

Akito flushes a little and shrugs his shoulders, moving a little in his spot to face Toya better. “...Just wonderin’. I remembered the photos from the contest. That stuff looked nice on you.”

“You think so?” Toya's small smile begins to widen from the compliment, his eyelashes flutter as he blinks and Akito feels his chest practically explode with butterflies that had been trapped inside all over again as if it hadn't already done so multiple times over the past few hours.

“You should learn how to use makeup as well, Akito. I think you'd look great.”

Akito made a small sound, choking on his own words. Him ?

Would he really?

“Y-yeah? Well I'd…probably just end up using a little, anyways. I only really know how to apply concealer,” Akito says, tripping over his own words. “Ena teased me to hell and back for putting it on, though.”

Toya giggled before taking a moment to look away in deep thought, silver eyes fixated somewhere on the covers under him. Akito was sure that he already knew what Toya's idea was before he even said it.

“Hey, Akito… would you like me to do your makeup for you?”

And, sure enough, he was correct.

Olive eyes widen anyway as if he never expected the question, and he clears his throat. “Um.. dunno. Don't think it'd suit me that much.” Akito sputters. It's not like he was averse to the idea, but he wasn't sure if such a thing would work out, either. Noticing the uneasiness in his voice, Toya was quick to excitedly chime in.

“You'll look wonderful, believe me. You always do, no matter what. I'll do my best, and you can wipe it off as soon as I'm done if you want, so do you mind if I do it for you just this once?” he pleaded with a voice that Akito registered as far too persuasive.

Akito found himself so pathetically smitten that he was beyond help, bless his heart. He contemplated the proposal for a second more before hesitantly accepting his inevitable fate, letting out a sigh with a smile that he hoped Toya couldn't see.

“Fine. Ena’s makeup junk is in her room’s drawers,” he mumbles. “Just.. be careful. I don't feel like getting my ears screamed the fuck off later,” he quips.

Toya hastily nods, the pure excitement already made clear in his voice. “Thank you, Akito! I'll be careful, I promise.”

Akito can already see the imaginary dog tail wag as he watches him rush off to Ena’s room down the hallway, and he couldn’t help but snicker like a dumb fool when he saw a sparkly eyed Toya return with a bunch of makeup products in his arms, practically fidgeting from the anticipation like he was about to burst from pure elation any moment. Toya slowly made his way back onto the bed to make sure he didn't drop anything before carefully laying out the tools next to them on the sheets while Akito faced him and sat crisscrossed.

“It looks like you've already done your skin care before I came, so I can go ahead and apply the eyeliner first,” Toya says as he sits closer. Akito’s eyes widened slightly and he opened his mouth to comment on the fact that he somehow noticed, but he decided to keep quiet.

“Can you keep still for me?” Toya's low, unintentionally alluring tone of voice made Akito's heart pound in his chest so loud he worried that it might startle Toya away out of concern. His voice had always been a gentle one that could effortlessly relax the whole body, creating sounds so delicately soft that hearing it was like holding a huge and fluffy cat in his arms, much like the particular one at WEEKEND GARAGE that had shown a particular liking to Toya. Akito catched his mind before it wandered further, his voice quiet as he breathed out, “...Yeah. Yeah, I'll try.”

Akito obliged to the other’s request, but before he fully relaxed his eyelids for Toya to begin, he looked down at his sweaty palms that started to fumble while he panicked over the possibility that his face may turn unbearably red way too soon. He didn’t exactly know what to do with his hands, so he opted to rest them flat onto his thighs in an attempt to alleviate his own rising tension. Knowing that he could no longer turn back after this, Akito let his eyes rest and leaned in a bit closer so Toya could begin to delicately draw onto his left eyelid with the liquid eyeliner.

It was way more ticklish than Akito had initially thought it would be. The eyeliner easily glided over the thin layer of skin without snagging on anything and causing the line to be ruined. But he started to nervously chew the inside of his cheek as soon as he realized just how damn close Toya was to him right now. If he were to move any inch further, their lips would practically be touching.

“Ah, I messed up at the end a little…hold on, close that eye.” he hears his partner whisper. The close proximity between them causes Akito’s ears to be completely drowned in the hushed tone of Toya’s voice, so he bites on his cheek with slightly more force.

Without an argument, he shut both of his eyes before he heard the sound of a hand scouring through piles of hard plastic. Before he could think about what he was looking for, a sudden feeling of something moist yet soft gently passed over his eyelid and lashes, which he could only flinch at.

“It's a makeup wipe,” Toya explained, careful and precise with his hand as he delicately continued to use the wet cloth, the moisture and slight coldness still lingering onto Akito’s skin even after he appeared to be finished.

“I'll redo it now, so hold still again.”

Opening his eyes and taking another deep inhale in through his nose, he focused on regaining the ability to keep his body still. Despite wanting to, it was proving to be quite the difficult task when he felt the taller’s hands start to slightly tremble from trying to keep the eyeliner in the same position without support for so long. Akito’s own body itched with the overwhelming urge to keep shuffling around for a good angle to help him out.

“Okay, one eye is completed,” Toya affirms with an exhale. “But sitting like this is quite uncomfortable, my hands are getting shaky…” he adds with a rueful smile.

Akito straightened his back a little, his hands moving to rest on top of his knees. “Uh..” He thought for a moment, eyes darting around the room before he announced his newly thought idea without thinking. “I could try lying down while you sit on my lap? It'll bring you closer and help keep me more still, I guess.”

Akito realized it was far, far too late for him to take back the suggestion that slipped out of his mouth, compunctious feelings immediately raining over him like heavy hail.

“Ah..” Toya replies, an unintelligible expression on his face. Akito watches as his lips part in a way that makes him want to gnaw on the inside of his cheek again.

His face quickly tints beet red from the shame and his hands start getting uncomfortably clammy from the awkwardness of it all once he sees a rosy blush slightly darken his partner's cheeks right in front of him.

What the fuck am I saying?’ he mentally facepalms. That'll only make him even closer to his face, and then they'll really get too close for comfort.

Toya cleared his throat and Akito opened his mouth fully ready to blubber out strings of apologies, he finds that it's the least he could do to easen up the seemingly immutable awkwardness that had filled the air, but he's cut off before he can even start.

“That could work, actually…Having a cushion for your head could provide some more stability and comfort. Let's try it.”

Akito blinks in confusion from the unexpected agreement but then nodded, hesitantly scooting backwards to lay down on his bed. Contrasting feelings of confusion and relief swam through his head, drowning out all of his other thoughts. Maybe he thought too much about this? Whether he did or not, this all was definitely not what he thought he would be signing up for.

Toya also came closer with his knees to sit on top of his waist with a plethora of caution, warily making sure he doesn't sit with too much weight out of fear of crushing his dearest partner below him… even though absolutely none of his weight was on him whatsoever. It’s all completely onto his knees and some on his thighs resting on either side.

“Is this okay? I'm not hurting you or anything, am I?” Toya asks, and judging by his tone maybe a little too worried.

“Dude, I'm not that fragile,” Akito wheezes out from under him. This time, he takes his hands and intertwines his own fingers so they can rest slightly below his chest more comfortably.

The reassurance and action earns an amused huff from Toya. He's right, he knows that he's not. Akito has never been fragile in any regard, which was one of the many things he greatly admired about him. He sighed in relief, allowing his worry to fade a little.

“I'm fine, really. Is it easier for you to apply it now?” Akito continued with a smile that was being pointed back at him.

Toya hummed in affirmation, steadying himself before nodding and bringing the eyeliner back up to his face. “It's much better. Can you relax your eyes for me again?”

Akito does as he’s instructed, letting his eyes rest and make the perfect subject for the black brush. He took in another breath, the smell of Toya's cologne immediately invaded his senses with a clean flowery scent. Soft puffs of breath brushed against his cheeks while Toya began with the other eye only for Akito to realize that he's close, he's really close, and now he had to focus all of his remaining energy into not making a fool out of himself and messing everything up. Toya either didn’t notice his barely contained panic or was kind enough to not comment on it, Akito couldn't tell which one was reality. Akito couldn't tell he knew for sure that his mental state was painfully obvious at that moment, and he wondered if Toya felt the same antsiness and was only better at masking it as usual.

At least with the eyelid that was being worked on his head was resting comfortably and his body was more easily able to stay still to some extent. Toya looked at him through his lashes, carefully bringing up the heel of his hand to rest it on Akito's temple to keep it sturdy.

The other eye was significantly faster to complete now that they were both able to get used to the feeling. The thunderstorm of Akito’s emotions that had been bringing chaos to his mind had finally calmed down and settled.

“Feels funny,” Akito remarked as he felt the tip of the liner swipe over in quick motions. “Not in a bad way, though.” Toya giggled at that, a fuzzy warmth that caught in his heart. “It does, doesn't it? You get used to it after a while though,” he concurs.

Soon he heard the sound of more ruffling around, the cap on the eyeliner closing before another cap was removed with a fairly loud pop. “The eyeliner is done, but keep your eyes closed for a little bit longer. I just need to apply a little bit of mascara and eyeshadow.”

A few minutes passed before Akito was finally freed from the agonizing experience that was the ticklish mascara wand, and missing the fluffy feeling of the eyeshadow brush dusting against his eyelids. Toya leaned back and away from his face with a triumphant huff, giving himself a moment to take pride in his work. “Finished.”

Akito blinked his eyes open, once again instantly being met with the wondrous view of Toya's adorning face over him that had one big smile pasted on it, one so naturally captivating. He found his heart twisting and cavorting about in his chest, swallowing nothing as Toya gave him a sweet smile. God, he really is smitten beyond help.

“Next...”

Toya straightened himself and turned over again just a bit to grab the concealer and a teardrop-shaped makeup sponge. “I could, uh, do that myself if you want,” Akito breathed out, averting his gaze. “Just to take the workload off ya.”

Toya looked back at him and shook his head reassuringly. “It's fine, I want to do it for you this time.” Akito can only smile cheesily at that and let him. “Gotcha.”

He always admired how Toya constantly loved to try new things, to take new opportunities and initiatives he would’ve never even dreamed of before. Back when they first met, Toya was quite reserved and of few words. He wasn’t nearly as comfortable as he is now, one would almost think that they were two completely different people. Now with Toya finally being able to express himself more, and freely able to want, he was much like a bird finally spreading its wings and flying out of its battered and small cage. He’s had so much fun, and just who would Akito be to be against that? He sometimes wonders if he's influenced his partner’s stubbornness, just by a little.

Applying the concealer was a quick and familiar process, Akito noticed that he really liked the feeling of someone else dappling the makeup sponge across his face for a change. Toya did it with so much care in his movements, hell, everything he did was laced with such loving care and delicacy, and of course it was accompanied by that iconic charming smile.

“You’re enjoying this way too much, man. Stop smilin’ at me like that,” Akito chided lightheartedly. Toya couldn't stop grinning the whole time, and it's so utterly contagious he starts feeling himself becoming all bubbly inside. ”Sorry,” Toya snickered as he lightly bounced the cushion across his cheek. “Can't help it.”

Eventually all of his work was finished, and Akito sat back on the headboard of his bed while Toya lifted himself off of Akito's lap to sit down next to him. He picked up and passed him a small mirror that had laid beside them, twiddling his thumbs in anticipation for his partner’s reaction with the faintest smile on his lips. “Well… Do you like it?”

And instantly after seeing the reflection, Akito found himself enchanted . He couldn't stop gawking at himself, at the sharp and stunning eyeliner that stretched on his eyelids, marveling at the way his nose and cheekbones were so perfectly accentuated that it kept everything tied together. He didn’t think he'd ever looked this good before.

“Dude, this looks fucking amazing ,” he exclaims, pride swelling in his chest. “You have a serious talent.”

It's no surprising secret Toya was some impressive sort of an artist, like during the school festival where he had made unicorns out of the cotton candy, or that time the whole group went camping and An brought a plethora of oranges while they waited for the food to cook. They spent the time making some orange peel art, and Toya made extremely meticulous yet cute bunnies and dogs out of them. To think he had this much of a hidden talent only added another reason onto his perpetual lists of everything he loved about him. ‘As expected of my partner’, he proudly thought.

“I'm glad you like it then, Akito.” Toya murmured, the corners of his lips turning upwards with a bashful expression on his face. Akito saw the pink blush grow across his partner’s face at the compliment, and oh, how butterflies swarmed and fluttered all over inside of him from it. Everything around him felt so fluffy. Akito so badly wanted to kiss him, to kiss Toya right then and there. And then he remembered he actually could do that, he’s his literal boyfriend. At the same time a bold idea suddenly popped into his head.

Akito smirks. “Feels like it's missing something, though.”

“Eh? Did I forget something?”

Toya pondered, watching as Akito leaned over to the side to find one more product with a grin on his face….something shaped like a tube. Popping the cap off, he sees a bold rouge red at the tip of it.

Akito turned back towards him, with it now pointing straight at his face.

  Ah .

Akito brings a hand to lift up his chin a little, keeping his face still. Toya lets out a small noise of surprise.

“Hold still for a sec.”

Toya froze as he felt the thick lipstick coat his lips ever so gently, and stared at his partner in confusion. Why is he placing it on him instead?

When Akito finishes he placed the cap back on and threw the lipstick somewhere on the bed before he tenderly cups Toya's cheek with a warm and inviting hand, watching fondly as Toya subconsciously leans into the touch, and pressed their lips against each other in a bold, swift movement. Toya's eyes comically widened, looking at Akito’s closed ones before he slowly fluttered his own eyelashes shut and the shock slowly but surely dimmed. Akito wrapped a hand around Toya’s waist into a comforting hug while Toya laid a hand on Akito's shoulder. The close contact between them made the whole room keep its cozy feeling, and it was all too perfect. It was a chaste kiss; soft yet quick and easily separated. Yet It was sweet and tender, like thick captivating caramel melting above bursts of warmth.

They eventually pulled away, gazing warmly at each other's eyes while they slowly inhaled and exhaled. Akito smushed both of his lips together to spread around the pigment and then pointed to his reddened lips, grinning like an idiot.

“Now I've got lipstick on. All done.” His voice was barely a whisper and although it sounded confident, the blush decorating his cheeks told his partner otherwise.

The partner in question simply couldn't contain the pleasant chuckle starting to slip from his own mouth at the sight, his heart practically doing backflips from all the overwhelming joy and intimacy coming back to hit him all at once.

“Honestly, Akito, you…”

Toya pressed their lips together again without a single thought. Akito started giggling, the ends of his mouth unable to stop twitching upwards from the giddiness making it a little hard to kiss him, and his lips tasted sweet from the dense cherry-flavored color on them, but it didn't matter. Toya couldn't have asked for anything else. His partner was more than what he needed and then some.

He pulled away with a sigh, his face burning hot all the way from his cheeks up to the tips of his ears as Akito's hand moved up to tuck back a stray piece of hair behind one of those flushed ears with such benevolence that Toya practically almost collapsed into his arms. He looked even prettier with the makeup on, if that was even possible.

Maybe he should do his makeup more often.

“I love you,” Toya hushed out, his cheeks beginning to hurt because he still couldn't stop smiling. He looked at Akito with caring and gentle silver eyes that screamed exhilaration, the same warm fixed gaze that fully ignited the spark Toya lit up in his heart into a fire of passion.

“I,” Akito breathed out, unable to find any suitable words that could properly express how he felt. But he didn't feel the need to once he shut his eyes closed tight and moved his head closer for another kiss, feeling his hands clam up again while he moved his arms to hold the other closer into another loving embrace.

Soon enough Toya pulled back from that kiss, cupping his partner's face with both of his slender and slightly cold hands before gently smushing Akito's cheeks together then beginning to pepper affectionate kisses all over his face. Marks from the vibrant red lipstick left clear stains all over Akito's blushing face, stamping each and every spot that his lips pecked against; two on his right cheek, three on the other, one on his forehead followed by another in a spontaneous burst of triumph, kisses he just couldn't stop giving out. Toya felt so happy and so gushy, his heart just oozing out so much overwhelming joy and admiration and love for his partner that he never ever wanted to stop. If he did, his chest might just erupt explosions of trapped butterflies from not being able to express it all.

“T-Toya! Oi –calm down!” Akito cackled in a peal of laughter, his hands trying to lessen Toya's ticklish hold on his face while the quiet sounds of multiple kisses against skin echoed out.

Akito was certainly sure that Toya could hear his heart throbbing and threatening to sprint out of his ribcage from it all, but it was okay. Because pressed up against his chest was Toya’s own, and he could feel the other’s heart booming passionately just like his was. Toya felt Akito's shoulders and chest tremble greatly at every sound of the hearty laugh that left his mouth in the embrace they shared and with the strong rhythmic beating of their hearts resonating through his ears, Toya started to laugh with him, too. Nothing else in the world mattered besides the moment they were sharing together.

He finally managed to part away from Akito's face and had to restrain himself from letting out teasing remarks when he saw the outrageous amount of smudged kiss marks left all over his partner's face. He looked like…a huge mess . A gorgeous one, at least.

“I think I went a little overboard..” Toya said apologetically with a small guilty smile.

“You think?” Akito lightheartedly asked, ruffling his split hair with a massive grin stuck on his face. Toya's sheepishness only grew further and a small pout spread onto his face. “Sorry,” Toya squeaked out pathetically into the space between them, to which Akito let out one more chuckle.

He reached over to grab a few more makeup wipes and rubbed them across Akito's face with care. The other compiled but grunted at the muddy-like dampness against his skin.

–

An hour or so passed by, but the time zipped by as quick as a second.

The makeup had been neatly placed back into Ena's drawers like they were before the start of it all, done just as Toya had promised.

The lights in the room had dimmed, the two’s faces being previously wiped clean from the mess of cosmetics while they lay in each other's arms. Toya kept his head resting on Akito's chest that rose and fell softly and steadily as he started to drift off underneath the thick and warm blankets that had been draped over them. Toya remained silent in order to listen to the melodic, slow beats of his heart, the sound reverberating into his ear and making its way to stay inside his head like a catchy tune he wouldn't ever be able to get out of his mind.

“Akito,” Toya’s voice whispered ever so faintly amidst the gentle beating. He had something he wanted to get out before his sleep-heavy eyelids fell from the drowsiness, the sliver of his voice being something that Akito almost missed from how quiet it was even though the room was mostly silent. Blue split hair tickled against his collarbone and Akito squirmed in his spot a little, wearily humming back in response. ”Mmm?”

“We're completing that math worksheet as soon as possible tomorrow morning…No excuses this time,” Toya murmured, fatigue fully plaguing his eyes and voice in slow blinks before his breaths started to even out. Once his eyes finally closed, he instantly fell into a peaceful sleep.

“Dude, c'mon?” Akito groaned out, suddenly feeling far more awake and alert than before.

He peered down to see his boyfriend resting in a state of tranquility on top of him, already out cold and nuzzling into his chest under the soft fluffy covers as if nothing had ever been said at all.

“You’re not serious, right? Oi, don’t fall asleep on me now!?”
