Chapter 2: Concerns

Summary:

Raquel suddenly concerning about losing Sergio.

Chapter Text

They are both in bed, lying next to each other and talking quietly. They are both still feeling the after effects of the intimate moment they just had, and they are both still blushing a little bit. Sergio rolls over towards Raquel, and she smiles at him softly.

Then Sergio kisses her gently on the cheek, and the two of them just lay there in a moment of peacefulness. Then Sergio wraps his arm around Raquel and pulls her close to him, holding her tightly. Raquel lays her head on his chest, and she sighs contently.

Sergio looks at Raquel fondly, still smiling at her. He gently caresses her hair, and she smiles at him again. Sergio is enjoying the quiet moment with his wife, and he doesn't want it to end. The two of them just lay there, enjoying the comfortable silence together. Sergio rubs Raquel's back with one of his hands, and Raquel leans slightly closer into him in response.

Sergio gently hugs Raquel even closer to him, and Raquel cuddles into him. They both remain silent as they lay there in bed together. The two of them look so happy and content together, as if it was just the two of them in this world. Sergio keeps gently stroking Raquel's hair with a few of his fingers, gently playing with it as he embraces her.

Sergio and Raquel lie in each other's arms and look at each other, both of them with soft smiles on their faces. They feel so close to each other, like they understand each other perfectly. Sergio kisses Raquel on the forehead, and she smiles at him again, nuzzling her head into his chest. The two of them just remain silent, enjoying each other's company and the warmth of their bodies. Sergio strokes Raquel's hair with his fingers again, caressing and playing with it gently.

"What are you thinking?" Raquel,  asks.

"I think that we should sleep now."

Sergio thinks that they should fall asleep, because they have lessons tomorrow. He does not want to keep Raquel up too late, as they both need to be well rested for the lessons. Sergio gently rubs Raquel's hair in order to try and help her relax and fall asleep.

"Come on." Raquel says. "Tell me a little bit more."

"Of what?" He says. "You know the Paris plan, the Rome plan. You know all the plans."

"I am not talking about the plans, idiot." She says. "I want to chat with you. You don't talk to me like you used to."

Sergio knows that. He is aware of it. Actually, he doesn't want it to be that way either but it has to. They have so much to do.

"There is lots of going on." Sergio says. "We were chatting while we were having breakfast, lunch, dinner."

"We don't chat just two of us. I love them but do you remember our months at Palawan? We were chatting all the time,  even when we were making love. We were not waiting until we get hungry to chat with each other."

Of course they were. Sergio was a lonely man before Raquel. He wasn't talking a lot until he met Raquel. He was Salva, when they were met. He was acting like it and he was trying to take Raquel'e attention just for the heist. But even then, he was obsessed with chatting with Raquel.

And Palawan, it was a dream. Sergio always had some trouble to chat with someone but it was easy with Raquel. They were both very cultured.  Raquel knew most of what Sergio was talking about.  They shared ideas on a topic, argued, and sometimes competed to persuade each other.

This is exactly what happens when two great minds come together.

But now, they were just sharing ideas about the plan. Actually, everything was about the plan.

"I know, Raquel. I am sorry."

As the robbery approached, class hours increased.  They were constantly practicing target shooting and reviewing everything else in the plan, one by one.  Breath-holding tests, doctor games, imitations of giving statements to the police.  They were doing everything, and when the team was on break, the Professor was still making plans.  Even at the dinner table.  Some nights were the only time he had for himself.  On nights when he wasn't busy planning, he would make love with Raquel.  But that's all.

"No, it's okay." Raquel says. "She looks at him with understanding and love. "You are right. There is lots of going on and robbery approached. We should be focusing on saving Rio."

Sergio smiles. "I knew you would understand. We can chat later." He kisses his partner. "Take a good sleep. Tomorrow, we'll sew up a pig's heart in case they put the microphone in the heart of Rio."

"Again?" She says. "Marseille will hate you."

Sergio laughes. "I think he already does"

Sergio kisses Raquel. The two of them stay silent for a little bit longer, but eventually Sergio begins to fall asleep and Raquel follows suit shortly after. The two of them are asleep with each other's arms wrapping around each other tightly. They sleep together lovingly as the silence continues with only their gentle breathing in the background.

And as the silence of the night continues on, they both sleep, intertwined in each other's arms in a loving embrace. Sergio seems genuinely at ease with Raquel in his arms, and Raquel feels the same, feeling relaxed and safe in his arms.

Until Raquel wakes up.

She starts to think about the heist, and her worries and fears of losing Sergio start to creep into her thoughts.

And her thoughts keep spiraling, and the more she thinks about losing Sergio, the scarier it all becomes. She cannot sleep because she cannot stop herself from obsessing about the heist and what might happen to Sergio.

What if we never chat again, she says.

What if we never see each other again, she thinks.

What if he never hug me or make love with me or even hold my hand again, she fears.

And her fears start to get the best of her, and she starts feeling very anxious and scared as she begins to have a panic attack. She starts breathing quickly and deeply, and she can feel the sweat starting to build up on her forehead. She wants to be able to go to sleep, but she cannot fight off the thoughts anymore.

She thought about that before. She thought about that hunders times but now, heist is close and she gets anxious.

And she tries to slow her breathing down, taking deep breaths and trying to calm herself. She lays back on her bed, trying to think of happy memories with Sergio in order to help her get through this. They have had so many good times together, and she wants to focus on that and try to get out of this anxiety attack.

And she decides that she needs to clear her head, so she decides to go downstairs and try to get a drink or something to help her relax. She finds a glass of water, drinking it quickly and trying to find something to calm her down. She sits down at the kitchen table and takes a few deep breaths, trying to clear her head and relax.

And she finds a glass of water, drinking it quickly and trying to find something to calm her down. She sits down at the kitchen table and takes a few deep breaths, trying to clear her head and relax.

And she stays there, breathing and trying to calm herself down. She is starting to feel a little bit better, but she still feels some anxiety hanging onto her. She wants to feel fully relaxed and calm, but it is taking a lot longer than she thought it would.

She starts to think about what's wrong and why she is feeling anxious. She is scared about how she will behave when it comes time to start the heist with Sergio and the rest of the team. She is afraid that her fear and anxiety will get in the way and cause problems.

And the more she thinks about it, the more she realizes that she is not ready. She is not ready to lose Sergio, or to even lose the rest of the team.

And the fear of losing everything starts to overwhelm her and makes her anxiety attack even stronger. She starts to freak out, thinking about what could happen to Sergio and the rest of the team if things go wrong. She is scared of not seeing Sergio again, and it feels like she is losing herself to this fear.

"Inspector?" Tokyo says.

Tokyo finds Raquel in the kitchen. She is sitting at the table, shaking and trembling and looking very panicked. Raquel looks up at Tokyo, and she seems scared and overwhelmed by her anxiety.

Tokyo approaches Raquel slowly, seeing how anxious she is. She tries to comfort Raquel by placing a hand on her shoulder.

"Hey, what's wrong?" Tokyo asks gently.

"I don't know," Raquel says nervously. "I'm just really anxious I can't get the thoughts out of my head." Tokyo sits down next to Raquel, who continues to tremble and shake.

"What thoughts?" Tokyo asks.

"Losing Sergio." She says. "I mean, Professor."

Tokyo looks weirdly. "I know, I know," Raquel explains. "Just suddenly all these thoughts started filling my mind, and I can't shake them. I feel like I'm going to do something wrong on the heist, and somehow it's going to get Sergio into trouble." Tokyo is surprised that Raquel is so anxious and worried.

Tokyo's surprise is noticeable, and she looks at Raquel with concern.

"I don't know where these thoughts came from, but they won't go away," Raquel says.

"There's still time until the heist starts," Tokyo says, trying to be reassuring.

"Yes, I know, but my mind keeps spiraling thinking that I'm going to mess something up during the heist. I'm scared that I'll hurt Sergio or lose him. It's eating away at me," Raquel says.

"İnspector." Tokyo says. "I actually don't like you because I hate who changes sides." Tokyo explains carefully. She doesnt want to break her heart, but it's the truth. "But you are the most strong woman I've ever seen. You left your kid behind you, just for saving Rio. You haven't scared of living this criminal life for your love.  You could have live a peaceful life, but you are here." She says. "You are the most fearless woman I've ever seen, and it's not going to change."

Raquel feels comforted by Tokyo's presence, and she feels a little bit more reassured. Tokyo's gesture and her words are comforting to Raquel, and she feels a little bit calmer.

"Then why do I feel like this?" She asks.

"Tell me what happened." Tokyo asks. "Step by step."

"It all started earlier tonight, when I was in bed with Sergio," Raquel explains. "We had just had intimate time together, and suddenly I started thinking about what could happen to Sergio during the heist and my fear for his safety. Those thoughts didn't go away, and it just started to build up until now." She says.

"And then suddenly, I had a panic attack, and I couldn't stop myself as my thoughts spiraled out of control" Raquel continues. "I kept thinking about Sergio getting hurt and how much I would miss him if he were gone. It was overwhelming and so scary."

"What do you mean by intimate time?" Tokyo asks.

Raquel flushes a bit and becomes a little bit embarrassed.

"Well," Raquel explains, "We... Um... We... well, we, you know..."

"I am not talking about the sex, Inspector. I know you have sex all the time, I hear you. All of us hear you. I am asking was it just sex, or more?"

"Sergio wanted to sleep, becauee there is lecture tomorrow."

"And? He slept and you felt lonely, I guess."

"No." She says. "I wanted to chat like we used to and he said we can't do it while we are planning a robbery."

"Oh."

"Yes. He said we can chat later, which means after the heist I guess. Then I started to think about, what if?"

"Okay." Tokyo said. "I got it."

"Did you?"

"Yes.

"Inspector, listen." Tokyo said. "You terryfied cause of the fear of losing him, it's clear. But you have to understand. You should scare of this all the time.  In life, something can happen to any of us at any time.  Whether you are a thief or a banker.  You should always be afraid of losing your loved ones, and this fear is what binds you to your loved ones.  This fear makes you love him more and makes every moment you spend magical."

Tokyo explains while she thinks her dead boyfriend but her eyes are sparkling.

"And I believe that Professor is the last person anything could happen to in this plan. He is a genius, İnspector. We both know that. He can't get hurt or get caught. He has some magical powers."

Raquel laughs a bit, as if her fears aren't so frightening when Tokyo says that.

"I know," Raquel says, with a smile on her face. "I know he is strong and has these magic powers, and that's why we will all be okay. But my fears just keep coming back and taking over my thoughts."

Tokyo places her hand on Raquel's shoulder and leans in close to her. She begins to speak in a gentle voice, trying to calm Raquel down.

"You will not lose Professor, and you will not lose everything," she says. "Professor is strong, and he is capable of defending himself. You also need to trust him and your teammates. I know it's scary, but you will get through this.

Raquel is starting to calm down now, her breathing is slowing and she is not shaking and trembling so much anymore. Tokyo's words of reassurance are beginning to sink in. Raquel feels better now and feels like she can handle the heist.

"You know what, Inspector?" Tokyo says. "I've lost Rio.

"He is alive." Raquel replies immediatly.

"Yes, bu I've lost him. He is not by my side right now and I'm frightening but I'm gonna keep going just for him. And you are going to do that too. You have to keep going, Inspector. Thats what love takes. I am trusting Professor, and I'm sure you are trusting him too. If you are sure that nothing is going to happen but you have some fears; hug him, kiss him. Do anything that will feel you okay and safe."

Raquel feels better now, much calmer than she did a short while ago. She realizes that she was just overthinking and spiraling out of control with her worries, but that she has things under control now.

"Believe me or not," Tokyo says. "I trust you the most after the Professor. Palerrmo is right, you definetly have some balls." Raquel laughs. "I am happy to see you at our side. I would shit out of me if you would be on the police team. " Raquel laughes again.

Tokyo smiles. "And Inspector, thank you for being here. Thank you for helping us to save Rio."

"And again, believe me or not. I couldn't think anybody else for Professor except you."

"I believe you," Raqulel says, and she smiles at Tokyo. She is starting to feel more confident in herself and what she is capable of. "Thank you for being there for me, I don't know what I'd do without you and all of the team."

Raquel feels much better after their conversation, and she feels like she is ready to take on the heist. She feels more confident now, and she is feeling much more ready to help out Sergio and the rest of the team.

"So?" Tokyo says. "Are you going back to ur genius lover's bed or are you going to sleep here?"

Raquel laughs warmly. "Thank you for being here with me tonight, Tokyo."

"İt was an honor, Inspector."

"You are not going to call me Lisbon, aren't you?" She says.

Tokyo laughes loudly. "Good night, Mrs. Professor."

"Much better now."

She says, and then she gets up carefully so as not to wake Sergio. She takes upstairs and go to her room.

And Raquel curls up against Sergio, her body pressed up against his. She wraps one of her arms around his torso and pulls him close, feeling his warmth and being comforted by his presence. Sergio opens his eyes slightly as Raquel clings to him, and he squeezes her tightly in response.

And Raquel feels her body relax into Sergio's warm embrace. She breathes slowly and deeply, slowly falling asleep. Sergio continues to hold her, feeling her breathing slow and become more relaxed.

Sergio opens his eyes slightly, and he looks at Raquel curiously. He doesn't open his eyes very much, since he wants to go back to sleep. He rubs his eyebrows, wondering why Raquel came back to bed so soon.

"Where were you? Is there something wrong?" Sergio asks, his voice a little bit sleepy and tired.

Raquel laughs quietly at Sergio's sleepy and tired voice.

"Nothing, cariño. I just went to the kitchen for a glass of water," she explains. "But then I started to overthink and spiral, and I felt really anxious. But I feel better now, and I was just coming back to bed."

And Sergio pulls Raquel closer to himself, his body pressing up against her as his hand wraps around her in an embrace. Raquel is happy to be back in his arms, and she leans her head against his chest and listens to the sound of his heartbeat.

Sergio seems a little intrigued by Raquel's sudden anxiety, but it is a thought tha

t he doesn't pursue for long. He is more focused on holding Raquel tightly against him and comforting her in her anxious state.

"Are you sure?" He says.

"Yes." She says. "I just missed you so much."
