Chapter Text
Kara and Michael were conversing about whatever came to mind, mainly their past and the deviant revolution, however, one of his answers puzzled and even saddened her. When she asked him why he was helping deviants, he answered "For decades I have been alone with no one even willing to be around me until androids were released. I was one of the first people to get one. Not just to do my chores, but to offer companionship. Eventually, I started to view androids as highly as humans, if not higher"
"What do you mean by that? Aren't you human?" Kara asked, puzzled
"No. I was a human once, sure, but not anymore" Michael said, curiously
"Why are you wearing the mask and gloves inside?"
"They're for hiding my Livor Mortis" Taking this as a joke, Kara chuckled slightly, not noticing the judgmental look he was giving her.
"Anyway" Michael said, trying to change the subject "I think you should check on the kid. They're always too curious for their own good".
“Luther’s watching over Alice. He can handle her.” Kara reasoned. Michael looked at her with a knowing glance. “If you say so. But none of you, especially Alice, can enter the attic or the basement”
“Why?”
“Just don’t" Kara agreed, although confused, she did take his warning seriously. There was a silence between them. An annoyingly awkward silence.
"How'd you meet the muscle?" Kara was surprised by the question and after a while realized that he was talking about Luther. "Luther was the android of someone who we came across and tried to reset my memory. We escaped him with Luther's help and he vowed to help me protect Alice" "Oh! Huh!" Michael responded, surprised.
All of a sudden, the doorbell rang. "Jaiden, look who it is" Michael ordered his android, Kara disapproved of the way he ordered her, but she froze when Jaiden revealed who was at the door. It was the police. Michael didn't seem too bothered by this, though. mostly because he probably expected them to come. "Kara, go upstairs and into the guest room, no one make a single sound before they leave" Michael ordered Kara, who was still disapproving him still ordering androids like they were his slaves, however, appreciating the danger she would be in if she didn't, she obliged as Michael slowly walked to the door while yelling"I'm coming!" at the restless police officer. As he opened the door, Michael changed from nice and respectful to grumpy old man. "What?" He asked rudely. "Good evening, sir, we have gotten reports of androids near here and i was wondering if I could ask you some questions" "No!" Michael answered almost immediately answered. However, the officer was stubborn, answering with a slightly more raised voice. "Sir, this is a question of natural security. I advise you let me in" Seeing that letting him in was his only option, Michael let the police officer inside, who immediately started asking questions. "Are there any androids here?" "Do you live here alone?" "Has anybody abnormal visited you?". These questions were all answered sarcastically and with sass by Michael. "Only her" "I am here" (Weirdly emphasizing the "am"-part) "Only you". Eventually, the officer left.
Michael ordered Jaiden to get Kara, Alice and Luther. After Kara and Luther sat down with him and Alice was upstairs playing with Jaiden, Michael started yet another conversation. "The situation is escalating fast, but I have some ideas how we're going to go with this. If you're still going for Canada, I can smuggle you there with my car, but if you want to stay here until this whole thing ends, I can hide you in a very secure place, a place which is pretty hard for the police to find and even if they do, it has it's own hiding place and security system" He said that last part with a slight smirk on his face, for now, they could only speculate what kind of security system he was talking about. However, they have come to a conclusion.
"We'll be staying here"
