While the woods made Janet a bit jumpy after the whole a fairy turned Nikki into a donkey incident, she still liked to go on strolls with Robert.
It was a nice contrast to the beating heat and sand of the beach and, when Robert was there to keep her from spiraling about the dangers of the woods, it helped her clear her anxious head a bit.
"You know, I could propose to you right here in these woods at any given time and you would be none the wiser" Robert told her during one of their strolls. She chuckled and shot him a glance that was ornamented by a raise of one of her eyebrows.
"Well, I"m plenty the wiser now" she teased. "Still, you wouldn"t"
"Why not?" he asked, frowning dramatically. "You don"t think I have the guts?"
"You have plenty of guts" she told him. "Relative to me, at least" she added with a smirk. "But you don"t like me like that"
"I like you plenty"
"You know what I mean" she elbowed him. "People marry for love"
"I love you"
"It"s different"
"I get it" he put the back of his hand on his forehead and tilted his head back in feigned distress. "You don"t love me back"
"I love you so much, Rober- Ow!" Janet flinched as a bee stung her hand. She watched the critter fly away and shoved her hand in her pocket.
"Are you okay?" Robert asked, concerned. Janet quickly put on a smile and nodded.
"Yeah, sorry, I think there"s just something in my shoe" she dismissed, taking off one of her shoes and shaking it out. "Should be good now"
"Okay..." Robert didn"t entirely believe that was it, but he dropped the subject.
Her hand didn"t stop hurting the whole way back to the salon and it was getting increasingly harder to ignore.
"Okay, now that we"re back, can you show me your hand?" Robert asked nonchalantly. Janet"s eyes went wide and he chuckled. "Jan, you"ve been hiding it the whole way back"
"I didn"t want to worry you"
"Let me care about you" he told her. Reluctantly, she lifted her hand out of her pocket and showed him the red, slightly swollen bump on the skin between her thumb and index finger. "Yikes"
"I got stung by a bee" she explained. "I"m sorry"
"Jan, don"t apologize" he replied earnestly. "Here, let me get this patched up for you"
"You"re the best"
"I know"
