Chapter Text
Epilogue - Two Years later
London-Croydon/England/Great Britain
They had never regretted moving to England, and they hadn't regretted starting a family. Family, this word had taken on a completely different meaning for Chastity-Claire Babcock-Brightmore, or C.C Brightmore for short, one she never really got to know as a child.
Their son, Frederick Florentin Hael* Babcock-Brightmore, or Freddy Brightmore for short, played within reach of them, but Chester watched over the little one so that nothing would happen to him.
Freddy was a bright boy, with light brown hair (a mixture of his parents, so to speak, which of course had pleased Niles in a special way) and bright blue eyes that took in every detail in his surroundings.
However, after they moved to England before she gave birth to her son, Niles started working on something he didn't want to show her until he was done. Now, more than two years later, he was glad to have finally made it. Still, a little worry that his wife would think it was stupid, but he also didn't want to be lied to by her that it was perfect.
„You wrote a book?“, her voice couldn't be more confused.
„Yes, I did“, he smiled, „I told you about the dream I had back then and thought it might be a great story.“
„And of course you want to consult an expert, right?“
He looked around: „Is he here?“
She slapped him on the arm and then said that she would read his story.
„And what name will you choose when it comes to publishing your book?“
„Edward Babcock“, he explained, „because of my family tree, the surname Brightmore is too well known, hence the decision. And I'd like to have a few secrets.“
C.C. curled his lips into a small smile.
„You mean you don't want anyone to know about your partial Welsh origins? As if I would be embarrassed to be married to an Anglo-French-Welsh servant.“
Niles sighed and then pulled her onto his lap. He glanced briefly at his son.
„I know she's not embarrassed, otherwise you would never have bothered to come up with a Welsh name for our son.“
„I love you, Edward.“
„I love you too, Claire“, he replied, then picked up his story, „would you like me to read it to you?“
She snuggled up to him and just nodded as Freddy and Chester moved closer to hear his story as well.
„We all believe that we can determine our lives. We wake up in the morning and have actually already planned the whole day. But what do you do when you find yourself a cat....“
The End.
