-.Katsuki?
-.Yes?
-.Uhm, c-could I eat something while you cook breakfast?
-.Sure, Ei. Fruit its okay?
-.Mmh, yeah-.Katsuki smiled as he grabbed an apple and began to cut it.
Katsuki had been aware since his teenage years that he upcoming generations would be born with more advance and powerful quirks; back when he attended UA, Eri had been the best example and on his years working as a Pro-Hero he had seen his fair share of kids and young adults with weird and -still, thanks God- really rare quirks.
Like, let’s say, someone with a quirk that turned people into their seven-year-old-selfs.
Katsuki hadn’t been the one meeting with the civilian who had said quirk, Eijirou had and so, Katsuki had been stuck with a seven-year-old version of his husband for the past two days.
“The quirk only last three to four says and doesn’t have any lasting damage, so Red Riot will be okay”
Katsuki had been nervous when e got the call -he had never been good with kids- but he ha heard so many stories from his mothers-in-law about baby Eijirou that, at least, Katsuki was prepare in a way.
As expected, Eijirou had been shy and insecure around Katsuki, asking for his moms instead; it took a couple of hours and a call from Eijirou’s moms to ease little Ei into trusting Katsuki and after a show of Katsuki’s quirk, baby Eijirou had been wonderstruck and had declared him “the best hero after Crimson Riot”.
Katsuki’s ego hadn’t been damaged, because the bright smile Eijirou gave him was so adoring and heart warming that he could only ruffled Ei’s black hair.
So, Katsuki had taken a few days off to personally take care of Eijirou and so far it had been an endearing experience.
-.Here-.Said the blonde as he gave Eijirou apple slices. Eijirou smiled.
-.Thank you Katsuki! You’re the best!-.Katsuki huffed. This kid was going to be the death of him.
Once Katsuki finished making breakfast, they both sat on at the table and ate in silence until Eijirou spoke.
-.This hotcakes are amazing! You have to come to my house and make them for my moms!-.Said little Eijirou. Katsuki hummed.
-.When they come back from their trip we’ll go-.Eijirou nodded, smiling as he continued eating.
-.I love my moms-.Said Eijirou and Katsuki smiled.
-.Yeah?-. Eijirou nodded.
-.They’re super cool and strong! I want to be like them when I grow up!
You’ll be
-.Doy you love your parents too Katsuki?-.Asked little Eijirou, innocently and Katsuki froze for a few seconds. Eijirou noticed.
-.K-Katsuki?-.Asked the little boy, a small frown forming on his face. Katsuki blinked a couple of times and shook his head.
-.Sorry, I… I got distracted-.Said the blonde. Eijirou hummed.
-.Oh, that’s okay! I just asked if you loved your parents too-.Katsuki swallowed, his throat feeling suddenly dry.
-.I…-.Katsuki felt so fucking stupid.
It had been years, he had gone to therapy and he had worked on his family issues a lot, why couldn’t he answer then? He just had to say yes.
A-Are they mean to you?-.Asked little Eijirou-.Your parents?-.Katsuki blinked and before he could say anything, Eijirou spoke again-. There’s a girl in my class, her names is Miyo and she’s like super smart! But…uh, her dad is really mean to her.
-…is he?-.Eijirou nodded.
-.He always tell her to “do better” and that she isn’t enough and-----.Eijirou pouted-. Miyo always cries when she doesn’t get good grades. Always, Katsuki.-Katsuki pursed his lips.
-.Sounds awful.
-.It is! I told my mama and she told me she would talk to the teacher so we could help Miyo-.Katsuki smiled.
-.That was very heroic and nice of you-. Little Ei’s eyes shined.
-.Miyo is really nice and loves her dad a lot, he should nice to her too-.Katsuki nodded and the talk should have ended there, without Katsuki trauma drooping to a child, but it seemed like he was weak to his husband in any age and form.
-.They are mean-.Said the blonde-. My parents-.Little Ei frowned.
-.Why?! You’re so cool and nice!-.Said little Ei-.I don’t get it.
-.I was a rough kid, wasn’t as sweet and well-behaved like you-.Little Ei’s cheeks turned a cute rosy color and Katsuki wished he could take a picture; his husband had been such an adorable kid.
-.They shouldn’t be, though-.Mumbled little Ei and Katsuki agreed.
It had taken time, but eventually Katsuki had realized that he was being abused and that he didn’t deserve that. The yells, the hits…sometimes Katsuki was amazed that he survived long enough to meet Eijirou, his friends and to get out of that hell-hole he used to call “home”.
-.Oh! You can come with me!-.Said little Ei.
-.Huh?
-.When my moms come back you should come live with us!-.Explained little Ei-.My moms are really nice and you’re a hero, so it would be okay!-.Katsuki chuckled.
-.Yeah?-.Little Ei nodded, excitedly.
-.You can sleep with me! And-And we can watch movies and we can play pirated!
-.That sounds like a good time, Ei.
-.You’ll come then, Katsuki?!-.Asked little Eijirou with a big, toothy smile on his face. Katsuki took a deep breath and nodded.
-.Yeah, I will.
Days later, when the quirk had finally worn off, Katsuki layed with adult Eijirou o their bed.
Eijirou didn’t seem to remember what had happened on the days he was a kid and Katsuki had promised him to tell him later-
“But first, I want to cuddle with my husband”
Eijirou had happily complied, hugging the blonde close to his chest.
-.Ei?-.The redhead hummed-.I have an idea for our costumes, for next Halloween.
-.Yeah?-.The blonde nodded.
-.We could be pirates-.Said Katsuki with a smiled. His heart warmed at this husband’s gasp as he began to list what they would need and how that was such an amazing idea.
“And just like a folk song,
our love will be passed on”
