Have Faith In Me

Chapter 3: The Beauty of Love and Safety

Chapter Text

Sti left for school maybe an hour ago and in that time Derek has finished writing what Dr. Simons asked him to, in a bid to distract himself. He’s trying so hard to avoid thinking about what happened last night. Though in reality he knows it’s a losing battle.

Seeing Sti lose his cool like that just because Scott had taken a single step towards him, plays over again in his head. He knew Stiles cared about him, that was never really a question to him, not anymore at least, but to tackle a feral omega that way, that is more than he expected. He always knew there was something greater about the Spark, but seeing it that close, and that clearly, was astonishing.

The way he is with the Pups and Eli is also something Derek can’t get out of his mind. He loves so fiercely and it’s startling to realize Derek is one of the ones he loves most. He thinks he could spend the rest of his life happy if the Spark would only allow him to bask in his love.

Honestly he regrets that it took him so long to realize why he was reacting in certain ways to Sti. Truly he should have known what it meant to want to submit back when he submitted to Derek, but he guesses he wasn’t ready to face that possibility. He thinks he might need to speak with Sti’s grandfather about more than just training. Maybe he should even call Dr. Simons to get her opinion on it all as well.

Antsy, he can’t just keep sitting here, so he stands up to go looking for Mieczysław, knowing he is here somewhere. Feeling slightly better after he finds him in the dining room with Peter and Deucalion. Debating against himself for a minute before steeling himself for this conversation.

“Mieczysław, can I speak with you alone for a minute, please?”

“Sure, Derek. Let’s go out back and I’ll place a silencing bubble around us.”

“Thank you.”

He follows Mieczysław outside and waits for him to put up the silencing bubble. It doesn’t take long for Derek to feel the telltale shiver that comes with the silencing bubble. Though it does feel different than when Sti does it, not overwhelmingly different, but still noticeably different.

“Derek, what is this about?”

“Two things. Sti told me to ask you about training when I spoke about Peter and Jackson being able to beat me in a fight. Also I’m 95% sure that I want to take Sti as my mate.”

“Oh. Well I can easily help with the training. Why do you believe you want to take Mischief as your mate?”

“You’ve seen him with Eli, right? The way he cares for everyone in both Packs. The way he attacked Scott last night purely because Scott had taken a step towards me. Though my wolf realized it first. When he was showing the Pups how to formally submit, he used himself as an example. When he submitted to me, it took all of my self control not to submit right back to him. I just don’t know how to proceed, or if I should even do anything about it.”

“Do you feel like you would be ready for a romantic relationship?”

“I’m not sure, that’s the problem. Do you think I should ask Dr. Simons?”

“I think that might be a good idea. Why don’t you call her right now? We can discuss it as a group.”

He nods and pulls out his phone, calling Dr. Simons.

“Derek? Are you okay?”

“I need to ask your opinion on something that I don’t think I should bring up in a session since Sti comes to my sessions.”

“Okay, Derek. What do you need my opinion about?”

“I’m 95% sure I want to take Sti as my mate. I think my wolf already claimed him as such, considering when he submitted to me I had to force myself not to submit back to him. I was discussing it with Mieczysław and he said I should talk to you about it as well.”

“I guess the main question is whether you are ready for a romantic relationship, right?”

“The thing is if it’s Sti I think I am. He makes me feel safe and cared for. I trust him with every piece of myself.”

“Do you know if he feels about you that way?”

“He said he wasn’t sure if he was developing romantic feelings for me, but I’m pretty sure it was meant to make it easier for me to stomach rather than the truth. Peter is very sure that Sti has feelings for me. Cora agrees with him and they know him best of almost anyone.”

“Why do you feel that he feels more than he said?”

“Last night the guy who betrayed us came looking for a fight, the second a step was taken towards me Sti tackled him to the ground and started beating the omega nearly to death. That could have been ignored as being overprotective, but something he said last night after all the excitement was over brought it home. I can’t be sure of his feelings without him telling me himself, but his actions tell a different story than his words said.”

“Do you want to elaborate on that, Derek?”

“I mean he was saying how he would kill for me, die for me and protect me from everything he possibly can. How he said it felt like a love confession. Or I might just be seeing things how I want to.”

“Maybe you should just give both of you some time before acting on anything. Let things settle down around you and continue as you are for now. You’ll know when you feel ready.”

“Okay. So do nothing for now?”

“Yes, give it some time so you can be sure before approaching him about it. Don’t pull away from him or anything. Just let things continue as they are fairly naturally.”

“So you think I have to make sure of my own feelings before I should approach him about it? Do you think I’m misunderstanding my feelings?”

“I can’t tell you that, Derek. I’m not you. I just feel like you might need to not put pressure on yourself just yet.”

“Okay. I will not say anything to Sti until I’m sure and ready to do so. I will allow things to continue as they are currently.”

“Okay, Derek. How is your progress with your son? Have you written what I asked you to?”

“I’m doing well with Eli, Sti has been really helpful with that due to some factors we’ll talk about in our next session. Eli calls Sti mom and it helps a lot that he’s no longer claiming Kate as his mother. I finished writing everything out and Sti said he would read it since I asked him to. I want him to know everything. I’m just too scared to tell him out loud right now.”

“I’m happy you’re building a relationship with your son and that Mischief is helping bridge the gap between you two. You finished it quickly, I’m surprised. If that is what you want, I think it’s good to have someone you care about know all of it, Derek.”

“He’s a really great kid and I’m glad to finally be able to see it. I needed something to focus on, so I thought I might as well do what you asked me to do. I do want him to know everything, I want him to understand me and see all of me, not just the pretty parts, the ugly parts as well.”

“I’m glad for the strides you are making, Derek. I need to go. My client just got here, call me later if you need me.”

“Okay, Dr. Simons. Thank you.”

“Of course, Derek.”

He hangs up the phone and looks up at Mieczysław. The older man is looking at him strangely and he doesn't understand why. What did he do to make him look at him that way?

“What?”

“I’m realizing I don’t know you at all. Mischief might be the only one who knows you in a real way. Also I believe you.”

“That I want Sti to be my mate? Why would I lie about that?”

“Because having him as your mate could raise your Pack standing in a way that only having him as Right Hand would not.”

“I would give up being an Alpha in a heartbeat for him. If I thought he would let me, I'd ask to switch positions. Being an Alpha honestly scares the shit out of me, but he wants me to be Alpha, so I will try my best to do it for him.”

“If you told him that he would only want you happy, Derek. If he knew you were uncomfortable as Alpha he would take over for you. No questions asked.”

“I don’t want to add anything else on his plate, he still has to graduate next year, he’s heir to your family and he’s already doing so much for the Pack and I.”

“Then ask him to CoAlpha, so neither of you have all of the responsibilities of the Alpha status.”

“I’ll think about it and possibly talk to him about it this summer.”

“You know he cares about you as a person, right? Not as a title or as atonement for his mistakes. You wouldn’t be his anchor if he didn’t care about you immensely.”

“I know, sometimes I forget, but I do know that.”

“Good.”

“You’ll train me so I can beat Peter and Jackson right?”

Mieczysław laughs and Derek can’t resist chuckling along with him.

“Yes I will help you, Derek. I know Mischief would train you himself if it would not piss off both Peter and Jackson for him to do so. He would rather not rock the boat with those two, so he gave you the second best option.”

“Thank you. I know. He was reluctant to even tell me to come to you for help.”

“Can I ask you a question?”

“Sure.”

“Does Mischief believe Agata?”

“He doesn’t want to, but he’s leaning towards believing her. He doesn’t think she would make that excuse up, considering she was the favorite of your ex wife. What do you think?”

“I believe her, ever since her mother had spent so much time with Gerard she was never the same. I think he might have colored some of her views. Though I think she was always more flexible with the Code, she’s the reason Mischief has killed an innocent. I don’t think Mischief had ever forgiven her for that. I believe she knew that which is why despite being heir she left him nothing in her will, so I’m leaving him everything in mine.”

“How was she at fault for him killing an innocent?”

“She sent him after a newly bitten wolf, saying that the new wolf killed his family after turning, the problem is the boy wasn’t a wolf until after his family’s attack. Mischief didn’t learn the truth until after he had killed the boy. The boy was only 11 at the time.”

“Why was he killed at that age anyway?”

“The Alpha in the area didn’t want him and all of the surrounding Alphas feared that Alpha’s reaction far too much to take in the boy. So essentially my ex wife and that Alpha left Mischief with his hands tied on purpose. So his only choice was to put the poor boy down.”

“Who was the Alpha?”

“I think Mischief is the one for you to ask. He would never forgive me otherwise. That situation broke Mischief in a way I feared if he was going to be able to recover.”

“It was my mother, of course it was. Why did she hate Sti so much? Or did she not even have a reason?”

“I’m not quite sure, though I have theories as to why. The obvious answer would be that he had the possibility to take over the territory, but the level of things she did to him points to it being more than that. I think part of it was because Laura hated him, while Peter adored him. Your father hated how she treated Mischief. So much so that I believe your father wanted to leave your mother. He was calling Claudia and I so often and he tried so hard to protect Mischief from the worst of Talia.

Part of it was because Mischief had the respect of every Alpha in the area while she was feared. She also knew that when the time came for Mischief to evolve, she would lose her Pack outside of Laura. She didn’t want to listen to a child, despite the fact that he did know better than she did what to do. She seemed to forget that he was trained with the best Alphas in the world along with the most well respected hunting families. Not to mention quite a few of the most respected creature groups had a hand in training him as well.

Everyone adored him and it made your mother furious. No one respected Laura even a quarter of the amount that they respected Mischief. Laura wanted Mischief dead, there was no question, he knew it and so did everyone else. Your mother wanted him out of the picture, she didn’t care whether he was dead or not, she just wanted him out of the supernatural world. That decision ended up being her greatest mistake.

She is the one who asked Deaton to kill Claudia and get Mischief out of the life. Mischief only knows some of that, though I wouldn’t put it past him for him to know all of it but bury it so he never has to let any of you know how much damage your mother and sister had caused. He wants to protect you guys from the truth of your mother and sister as much as he can. So he avoids it at all cost, even within himself I’m willing to bet.”

He stares at Mieczysław in devastation, how could his mother and sister wish those things about Sti? He was a kid , an incredible one, but still just a child . That means it was definitely his mother’s fault their family burned, just the same as it being Laura’s fault. Part of him feels like he shouldn’t even be surprised by this anymore, he knows now that they were awful people. Mieczysław frowns as he pulls out his phone and flinches back after he reads the screen.

“Mischief is going to kill me for this. He’s so pissed and he knows exactly what I told you based on what he feels in your bond. He doesn't want me to have this conversation with you while he can’t be here for you.”

“Why?”

“He has threatened all of us about telling you guys this kind of thing in general, but for those of us that are going to do it anyway he said we were only able to do it with him nearby so he can help deal with the backlash.”

“Why though?”

“He wants to protect you guys. It’s why Ennis and Kali come over far less than Deuc. They are very much like me, but they don’t have the same kind of get out of trouble card with Mischief that I do. So they have to wait until summer to be over here more often since then Mischief will be home. Since he’ll let them get away with more when he is home to deal with handling the reactions you guys are going to have to whatever they or I end up telling you guys.”

“It’s more about me than it is about the others isn’t it? Because they know more, don’t they? Since they were close with Sti back then.”

“Yes it is more about you than the others, but not for that reason. He thinks Peter knowing more about what was going on back then, will help him forgive himself, so he’s less worried about him learning things about then. Cora has always been more like Mischief than any of us liked, so he knows she’ll keep pushing until she gets what she wants. But you, he’s scared of it hurting you and pushing back your healing. Because you have so much guilt weighing you down and he absolutely does not want you holding any further guilt. So he’s strict on who can tell you things and what those things are. He really just wants you to be happy. So he’s willing to threaten everyone into keeping you safe.”

“I love him, Mieczysław. Gods. I just do, there is no question.”

“He was worried about you getting upset with him if you knew what he was doing. But you’re grateful for it, aren’t you?”

“I really am. I’ve never really had someone to protect me as an individual. Like Peter would protect all of the Pack kids, but this is different. Sti is protecting me because he cares about me in specific.”

“I think you should tell him that, that you are okay with him protecting you that way. Because he genuinely feels guilty about it. Thinking that you will hate him for it if you found out what he was doing.”

Derek nods and texts Sti, thank you for protecting me the way you do. It really means a lot that you care so much about me that you are willing to protect me.

He feels the surprise in Sti’s bond before an overwhelming affection floods the bond between them.

Sti responds, you don’t need to thank me for that. I would do anything and everything I can for you. I love you, Der.

He sends affection back down the bond to Sti and responds, I appreciate it more than you’ll ever know, Sti. I love you too.

Sti responds I understand, Der.

“He is such a dork.”

“How so?”

“He won’t ever just say you’re welcome. He always says you don’t need to thank me.”

Oh .”

“Why oh like that?”

“Nothing to worry about, Derek.”

“Mieczysław, you can’t just answer like that.”

“Him saying that means something in our traditions.”

“Does it have anything to do with him saying he’s likely giving me two amulets?”

“Yes, but I am not going to be the one to explain that to you.”

“I think I already have an idea on what it means based on how Peter reacted to Sti saying it.”

“Well I’m not going to get involved with that. You guys will figure things out eventually on your own. AshLynn is right, you guys need to let things happen naturally.”

“Okay, Mieczysław. You are going to train me so I can beat Peter in a fight still, right? Can we start on that before Eli wakes up and wants to train with you?”

“Sure, Derek.”

With that settled the duo trains for a few hours until Eli comes out to get their attention. Derek scoops him up and hugs him, surprising him.

“Hey, Eli. You want to steal Mieczysław so you can train your magic? I think I’ve definitely taken up enough of his time for today.”

“Hi, daddy. You can stay to watch if you want. Though Uncle Peter has been waiting for you, so only if you want to avoid him.”

“Oh no, I probably should go see what Peter wants before Sti gets home or Peter will corner me when I want to speak to Sti. I’ll watch you train your magic next lesson. And I’m sure I can watch what you learn when you show Sti as long as that’s okay with you.”

“Of course that’s okay, daddy. I’d love to show you and mommy together. Go see Uncle Peter, so I can start training.”

“Okay, Eli. I love you. Be safe.”

“I love you too, daddy.”

Derek kisses his forehead and sets him back on the ground. He nods to Mieczysław before leaving to find Peter. Finding him with Cora and realizing what it is that he is walking into a second too late to escape it.

“Eli said you wanted to talk to me.”

“So Mischief told you to get trained by Mieczysław?”

“No, of course not.”

He is glad Sti taught him how to lie to other wolves, or Peter would be having words with Sti.

“Then why were you suddenly training with him?”

“I just needed a distraction after last night and Mieczysław said that he could train me.”

“What happened last night before Deuc and I got home?”

“You could have asked Cora, she heard it, hence why she apologized last night.”

“I’m not asking Cora, I’m asking you.”

“Why?”

“Because I want to hear about it from you, Derek.”

“Sti was telling me about the time Chris had Jackson and Sti cornered in the hospital after you bent his keys. He said he had gotten Chris’s face about Kate being the one responsible for the fire since he was so over the ‘bitch boy hunters who had nothing on what I was able to do when I was Eli’s age’ direct quote.

I had said something about it not being worth it for him to do that since he could have gotten hurt. He took Eli out of my arms, handed him to Isaac I think and then started yelling in my face that it was worth it. That he would die before he let another Hale get killed. Stuff like that.

Cora came and apologized, then we started talking about the nicknames they had for people. Sti apologized for yelling in my face and I told him he didn’t need to because I should have known that to him it was worth it.”

He shrugs, leaving out the last part of the conversation since he is not sure Sti would want Peter to know about that part. Refusing to risk Stiles' trust even if it means that Peter is going to be even more upset with him. Someone else can fill Peter in, but he won’t without approval.

“That is what made him cry?”

“No, but if you want to know the rest of the conversation you’ll have to ask one of the others or Stiles himself. I’m not going to tell you in case Sti doesn’t want you to know. I’m not going to betray his confidence because you want me to.”

“I’ll let it go only because that is a good reason. Did you hurt him at all?”

“Never!”

“Okay. I believe you. I just needed to know if you hurt my son, I couldn’t stand having to hurt you because you hurt my son.”

“Peter, I do not plan on hurting Sti, ever.”

“You love him, don’t you?”

He only nods in response, not wanting to talk about it again so soon, especially not like this.

“That’s why you wanted a distraction, isn’t it?”

“Yes.”

“Are you going to tell him?”

“It has been recommended to me that I wait until things settle more, to let things continue naturally as they are for now.”

“You talked to Mieczysław about it?”

“And Dr. Simons as well, yes.”

“No wonder he offered training as a distraction then.”

“Did you know about Talia?”

“What are you asking, Derek?”

“Did you know she and Laura wanted Sti dead?”

“Then? No, I did not. Now, yes, I have been informed.”

“How could you not have known?!”

“Derek, you have to understand Mischief was prone, even back then, to hiding things to protect those he cares about and even Claudia was only able to counteract things to a certain point before Mischief would find out and shut it down.”

“Cora, did you see any of it?”

“Would you hit me if I said yes?”

“No, especially because Sti would be pissed if I did.”

“I did see some of it, not from mom, but from Laura.”

“Why didn’t you tell Peter?”

“I didn’t want Mischief to hate me for telling Peter when it was clear he was keeping it from Peter for a reason.”

“Did you tell anyone?”

“Mischief, Aunt Claudia and Grandmother, Mischief’s grandmother I mean. I wanted to tell Eric, but I was scared of Laura’s reaction. I probably should have told Mieczysław in hindsight, but I didn’t know everything I know now then…”

“Okay.”

Sti texts Der, stop whatever you’re doing to make Cora feel that way.

He responds I don’t know what you are talking about, Sti.

Sti texts yes you do, Der. I can tell it’s you based on the feelings in the bonds, also Peter snitched on you.

“Peter.”

“I’m not going to lie to him, Derek.”

He ignores Peter and responds I just needed to know, Sti.

Sti texts we can talk about this when I get home.

He sighs and responds okay, Sti.

“Well, he’s mad at me, I’m fairly sure.”

“No, he’s not.”

“He sounds mad.”

“You have bonds with him, check them.”

“Oh. He’s worried and disappointed. I think that’s worse than him being mad at me honestly.”

“I think he might be disappointed in himself and Mieczysław.”

Honestly ignoring that for the time being he asks the other question burning in his brain.

“Brett is another one of Kate’s victims, isn’t he?”

“It seemed like it, though I don’t think Mischief wants you to know either way, not right now.”

“I mean that’s mostly because Dr. Simons said I’m not allowed to know until she deems I’m ready to know.”

“Then just give it time, they’ll tell you in time.”

He groans and goes to see if Deuc is still here. Over dealing with Peter and Cora right now. Not having the energy or brainpower to deal with all of that currently without Stiles. Finding Deuc is  easy, but finding the man in Sti’s room surprises him more than he’d have thought.

“Hey, Deuc. Can I ask you a question?”

“Is this about Mischief?”

“Not technically. It’s about whether you and the other Alphas do want to merge Packs or not? Also if you think asking Sti to CoAlpha the Pack is a good idea.”

“I think having Mischief as CoAlpha would be a good idea. Ennis and Kali are still arguing about it. Four of us want to merge Packs, but Kali is resisting. I think Mischief might have to talk to Kali, before she’ll be on board with merging Packs.”

“Why is she against it?”

“She thinks Mischief resents us and nothing the twins and I say will help. Ennis believes us, but Kali is scared that Mischief will end up hating us if we spend too much time with the Pack. Especially her and Ennis. Because of your history with Ennis and Kali’s history with...”

“Kali’s history with who?”

“Kali’s history with Agata.”

“Are you willing to explain what you mean?”

“I think maybe Mischief should explain. He would answer if you asked. But I think he would prefer to tell you himself.”

“Okay, understood. That’s pretty much 75% of people’s answers to my questions, so I’m used to it. I know Sti is very protective over me, so I don’t blame anyone for it.”

“He cares about you more than I’ve seen him care about anyone, which is saying something. Because you know how fiercely he loves. So that heightens all of our protective instincts about you as well.”

“I didn’t know that.”

“I think I’m the only one who has realized it so far. Peter will likely be the one to realize next, then Jackson.”

“Sti will probably be glad to know that everyone is going to be overprotective of me.”

“Likely he will be.”

He hears the Camaro and immediately heads downstairs, knowing Sti is nearly home. Distantly he hears Deuc chuckling at his swift exit the second he heard the car. But honestly he can’t even bring himself to feel embarrassed by it. Sti parks and heads inside, chuckling when he sees Derek by the door.

“Hey, Der.”

“Hi, Sti.”

Sti chuckles again and hugs him. He melts into it, grateful he did it. Since Derek is not sure he would have had the nerve to, at the moment. Not with all the thoughts and feelings swirling around inside of him currently.

“You okay, Der?”

“I missed you.”

“I missed you too, sourwolf.”

“Eli is still training with Mieczysław, since I took up most of Mieczysław’s time today.”

“You did?”

“Yes, he was training with me to distract me.”

“Well good that you went to him.”

“Do you want to check on them with me?”

“Of course, Der. Let’s go check on our son.”

Derek preens slightly at him calling Eli their son and drags him to the backyard. Eli doesn’t notice them, but Mieczysław does. He winks at them and he raises his eyebrow at him.

“Why did he wink at us, Sti?”

“They’re working on something you might not want to watch. That’s the signal, he knew I would understand if you didn’t. They’re working with fire and lightning. I swear to you it’s safe, Der. My grandfather would not do anything he wasn’t ready for. The elements and such are the first things we work with.”

“Oh. You promise it’s safe?”

“Der, if it wasn’t safe I would have stepped in and you know that. I promise you that it is safe. I won’t let anything happen to our son.”

He pulls Sti to sit beside him and leans against him. Since he knows having him close is the only way he will be able to watch this without panicking. Taking comfort in the fact that he knows without a shadow of a doubt that Sti would keep them safe no matter what.

“Okay. Ground me if I start to freak out, please.”

“I will, Der, I promise. I’ve got you. You are safe.”

He leans further into Sti and watches their son learn how to call fire and lightning with his magic. It is impressive what he is able to do, he will admit. He would definitely be panicking if Sti wasn’t here, he knows that, but with Sti here he knows neither his son or he will ever be in true danger.

“Thank you for making me feel safe.”

“You don’t need to thank me for anything, Der. I’m glad I make you feel safe. You are safe with me, always.”

He lays my head on Sti’s shoulder and enjoy the closeness. They silently watch them for a while and he realizes he genuinely wants to spend the rest of his life with Sti. It’s no longer a question in his mind.

“Sti, would you be open to being CoAlpha with me?”

“You want me to CoAlpha the Pack with you?”

“I technically want you to be Alpha, but Mieczysław suggested CoAlphas and I loved that idea as well.”

“I’d be honored, Der.”

“Also the Alphas want to merge Packs, but Kali is scared you will hate them if they spend too much time with the Pack.”

“Figures Kali would feel that way. I’ll talk to her and I’ll explain later. Since I know Deuc wouldn’t tell you, he’s not like my grandfather.”

“They told me that you want to protect me and Mieczysław said you thought I would hate you for it when I found out.”

“I did think that.”

“Well you’re wrong. No one has protected me the way you do. I enjoy it more than I want to admit honestly.”

“I’m glad you enjoy it, because I wouldn’t know how to stop it if you hated it. Though I would try my best to stop if that was the case.”

“It makes me feel safe and secure. Something I’m not sure I have really felt before. Like with you here nothing bad could happen to Eli and I.”

“I will do everything in my power to never let anything bad happen to the two of you. I love you both so intensely. You two mean the most to me.”

He leans further into Sti and basks in his protection. Though he can only enjoy it for a little while before the question burns back into his brain. Honestly he doesn't know why he can’t leave this question alone, but he just needs to know for some reason.

“Brett was one of the other victims of Kate, wasn’t he?”

“I should have known you would not leave that alone. Yes, he is one of her other victims, he and his little sister were the only survivors. I got them to AshLynn and Satomi took them into her Pack soon after.”

“Was it the same situation?”

“Yes, mostly. He’s gay so he resisted more than others, but she still got her way. That’s how I know you were likely drugged as well, since he was and I know of one other as well that was. So it’s likely she used it for all of them. Since it, of course, would make it easier for her.”

“I think I am as well. Gay I mean. Because I wasn’t physically attracted to Paige, though I did love her. I think she was my Lydia. That’s the best comparison I can come up with.”

“So Paige was your best friend that you loved immensely and unknowingly used her as a cover? She was beautiful and brilliant and you fell for her mind, but were not in love with her? I definitely get it.”

“Yes, that. Because I have only felt attraction to men. Outside of what Kate forced on me.”

“I can understand that. Lydia has agreed to be my cover, but yeah pretty similar situation. I might be bi-demisexual, but have only really been attracted to men.”

“Does the Pack know about you?”

“The Pack as a whole, not yet, most of them do though. Lydia and Jackson clearly know, Peter and Cora do as well, Isaac knows, has known longer than most and Danny, who isn’t Pack yet, also knows. I haven’t told Boyd and Erica yet, mostly because I forget that they don’t know honestly.”

“Okay. I was just curious. Do any of the Alphas know?”

“Deuc and the twins know for sure, Ennis guessed and Kali assumes based on some stuff. So pretty much yes all of them know, even if two aren’t fully aware that they are right. My grandfather, Chris and Mel also know, but that’s the extent of who knows so far.”

Derek just nods and leans even further into him. They both go back to watching Eli learn how to control fire and lightning. He would love to watch Sti wield his power, he’s only gotten to see such a small amount. The Spark Alpha doesn’t retrain his magic around the Pack because he’s scared of losing control. Though Derek feels like if he asks him, he might make an exception for Derek, considering he is his anchor and he’s less likely to lose control with him there.

Also he wonders if Scott was at school today, but he is not sure he’s willing to ask Sti though. He really doesn't want to ruin their little bubble of affection and safety by bringing the Omega up. Maybe he’ll ask later or just ask one of the Pups so he doesn’t have to bring it up with Stiles at all. Derek hopes he still lets him drive him to school tomorrow. He likely will, considering he still drove the Camaro today.

“Do I still get to drive you to school tomorrow?”

“If you would like to, sure. I’m open to you driving me to school. As long as you understand, people are going to say things that you might not want to hear. Either about you or about me. People are going to talk about the fact you are ‘hot’, it’s high school and a lot of people are super shallow. I don’t want you to do that if it’s going to upset you. I know how you feel about being objectified so I don’t want you to put yourself in that position if it will make you uncomfortable.”

“I trust you to shut that down the way you do best, but as long as no one touches me, I’m okay. I’ve gotten used to being the pretty ‘bad boy’ and the attention that comes with it. Which is ironic because high school me was a loner, I had Peter and Paige, that’s it.”

“You were a nerd too. I love that. I love the complex person you are.”

“Thank you for never just seeing me as my body.”

“Der, you never need to thank me. I mean it. But I knew too much about you to have ever seen you as a single dimensional being that way.”

“Can I ask you a question you might not like, Sti?”

“Of course, Der.”

“Why aren’t you popular at school? You would have been the most popular kid if you went to school with me. So I just can’t understand.”

“Well fuck. Alright we can talk about this. Part of it is because of how many fights I got into to protect Scott, part is because of Jax and Lydia shunning me, part is because I’m just not attractive enough.”

“What?!”

“I don’t understand why you are reacting like that.”

“You think you are not attractive enough to be the popular kid in school?!”

“I mean I know I’m not.”

“What the fuck?!”

“Der, I don’t understand why you are reacting this way.”

“Sti, you dumbass, you are wrong. Seriously ask Lydia, ask Jackson, ask fucking Danny he was just as aroused looking at you as he was looking at me.”

“What?”

“Oh my god. We’ll talk about this later.”

“Um. Okay, Der. Sure, we’ll finish this conversation later.”

He really needs to stop before he says something he might regret. How could Stiles not see he’s literally the most attractive person at that damn school? Honestly he just can’t imagine the Spark not understanding his own appeal. They need Lydia for this, she’ll have the answer to fix this.

Pushing that away for now he focuses back on Eli and Mieczysław. Needing to distract himself from the fact that Sti has lower self worth than he does. He was not prepared for that at all. Maybe he should convince Sti to do a few sessions with Dr. Simons as well. Since he clearly needs therapy as well to undo the damage his father did to his self worth. Feeling helpless in the face of that he forcefully shakes that thought away for now to be handled with Lydia’s help.

Eli notices them the second the duo finishes training and runs over to them. Tackling both of them once he reaches them, clearly happy to find them there. They both can’t resist giggling at the attack hug from their son.

“Hey, sweet boy. I see you are doing well with training. I’m proud of you, sweetheart.”

“Thank you, mommy. Pradziadek said I’m progressing faster than even you did!”

“You have the luxury of only training for one thing at a time, sweetheart. I was training for three different things at once. But you truly are doing amazing, I am very proud of you for how well you’re progressing.”

“You do seem to be doing well, Eli. I’m so very proud of you.”

“Thank you, daddy!”

“Of course, Eli.”

“Mom! David wants to talk to you again.”

Sti groans, but they all know it’s a token protest. Since it’s Boyd calling for him it’s probably about the emancipation stuff again. But they’ll have to wait and see once Stiles is done talking to the man about whatever it is.

“I’ll be there in a second, Pup. He’s here? Isn’t it early for him to be off from work?”

“How am I supposed to know, Mom? He’s in the dining room.”

“Okay. I’ll be there in a minute.”

Sti kisses Eli’s forehead before passing him over completely to Derek.

“I’ll hopefully be done quickly. I’m not sure what this is about, but we shall see. I love you both.”

“Love you, mommy.”

“Love you too, Sti.”

Sti stands up and heads inside, leaving him to stand up with Eli in his arms.

“What do you want to do while waiting for Sti?”

“Can we cuddle on the couch and maybe I can take a nap on you?”

“Sure, cariño.”

He carries Eli inside to cuddle on the couch, finding Lydia is already sitting on the couch, he sits beside her without hesitation. Grateful for the easy in since he needed to talk to her anyway. Once Eli falls asleep he will talk to her about Sti. So that way Eli can’t accidentally tell on him. Lydia smiles at them and he ducks to hide his blush. Knowing that everyone is glad that he is seeing his son as a person now. Glad about that as well he’s just embarrassed that it took so long.

“Aunt Lyds, mommy and daddy are proud of how well I’m doing learning magic.”

“The whole Pack is, sweetie. You are doing well. Mischief has been telling us and so has Mieczysław.”

“Thank you, Aunt Lyds.”

“Of course, Puer Scintilla.”

“What does that mean, Lydia?”

“Baby Spark, it’s latin.”

“Okay. There are going to be so many different languages used in our Pack. Since even only counting Sti, you and I, we all know at least three languages that the others do not.”

“True enough. Though Mischief and Peter know the most languages of any of us.”

“That is true.”

“I’m going to learn Polish!”

“As part of your Spark training?”

“Yes, that’s what mommy and Pradziadek use, so I have to learn as well.”

“At least you have them to aid you in learning it.”

Eli nods against his chest and cuddles even closer to him.

“Sleep, cariño, you smell exhausted.”

Eli nods again and fairly quickly falls asleep.

“Lydia, Sti said he’s not attractive. I need you to tell him how wrong he is. I can’t do it, because I’m bad at that, but you are the one I think will be able to do it.”

“Leave it to me, I’ll recruit Cora, Danny and Jackson. We’ll handle it. Also maybe convince him to see Dr. Simons as well to deal with the stuff from his dad.”

“Thank you, Lydia. I knew going to you would be the one way to get the right answer.”

“Of course, Derek.”

He just nods and runs a hand over Eli’s head.

“You have feelings for Mischief, don’t you?”

“You need to keep it to yourself for now, but yeah I really do.”

“Why?”

“Dr. Simons said to let things settle for a bit before saying anything.”

“Okay.”

“I asked Sti to CoAlpha with me.”

“I think that was a good decision. Do you know who is going to be the new Right Hand?”

“I think either Boyd or Jackson, but Sti gets to make the final decision.”

“Okay.”

“Was Scott back at school today?”

“Yes, surprisingly, but he seems more stable.”

“Okay. I was scared to ask Sti. Do we know what Mel decided about keeping him at her house or not?”

“I’m not sure. I think we’ll have to see. She is having him stay on a probationary period I’m pretty sure, but I don’t know anything for sure.”

“Okay. Maybe Deuc or Peter know for sure. I guess I’ll need to ask them later.”

“Probably, they were there longer than we were.”

“What are your thoughts on Allison?”

“I’m torn. I trust Mischief’s judgment and I think she isn’t a lost cause, but part of me hates her for what she did to Eri and Boyd. Though if she comes back better than she was I think it would be worth it to give her a chance.”

“Okay.”

Sti comes out to the living room looking absolutely livid about whatever happened with David.

“What’s wrong, Sti?”

“I’m going to kill Mary.”

“What did that bitch do now, Mischief?”

“She is trying to take money from both Jax and David in the divorce.”

“What the hell?”

“She really thinks she has a case to warrant it. The jokes on her because I have proof of all the damage she has done to David and Jackson. Also she stupidly chose a judge that is aware of the supernatural, one of the judges that I have worked with a lot previously.”

“Good, destroy that bitch, Mischief. Jax deserves better than what she has done to him. David does as well.”

“Oh I will and if it doesn’t work I’ll revisit killing her.”

“You have judges that are in the know, Sti?”

“Yes. There are people in the know all over positions of power. Of course your mother never told you anything, I don’t know why I honestly expected anything different.”

“That’s been the most honest you have been in your resentment of my mother to me, Sti.”

“You already know it was partially her fault that I had to kill an innocent and likely even more, so I can only hide so much without feeling like a liar.”

“You really did know what he told me without being here, I thought he was exaggerating.”

“I know you pretty well, Der. I can tell pretty much what people tell you based on how you feel about it.”

“Clearly. I’m impressed.”

“He also told you that she asked Deaton to kill my mother and get me out of the life.”

“Yes he did and that Laura wanted you dead.”

“Which is what you were asking Peter and Cora about when she was feeling so awful.”

“Yes.”

“Why didn’t we know about that, Mischief?”

“Well I wanted the least amount of people to know so that Derek could be told as I deemed he was ready. Though I should have known my grandfather would tell him whenever he felt like doing so.”

“I guess I can understand that, Mischief. You’re very protective of Derek.”

“I know, I’m overprotective over him, but he deserves someone to be protective over him.”

“I know, Mischief, he’s been through a lot.”

“So have all of you, though.”

“Der, shut up.”

“Rude.”

“You deserve to be taken care of, protected and cared about, Derek Micheal Hale.”

“I don’t anymore than anyone else.”

“Derek, just let me fucking take care of you.”

“I didn’t say I wasn’t going to let you, Sti.”

“Then why argue about it?”

“A token protest?”

Sti looks very unimpressed by that answer and he ducks his head to hide his smile. Lydia chuckles at the interaction, drawing Sti’s attention back towards her. He smirks slightly at getting away with it, thanks to Lydia.

“You both are insufferable. I didn’t expect the two of you to team up. Though I should’ve known.”

“I don’t know what you mean, Mischief.”

“Sell that to someone that doesn’t know you, Lyds.”

“Does Danny know he’s coming over tomorrow, Sti?”

“Yes, I talked to him about it today.”

“Okay, Sti. Good to know.”

“You guys suck, just so you know. Stop teaming up. I don’t think I like the idea of you two teaming up, especially against me.”

“What do you mean, Sti? I thought you would like me to get along with your best friend. All of our betas honestly.”

“Oh don’t pull that card with me, mister. You wouldn’t like what I will do to retaliate. Remember that Peter and Cora will be on my side.”

“Okay. Fine. You win this round. I already had Peter threaten me today based on you today. No need to get him involved.”

“He threatened you today?”

“Yes.”

“Why?”

“Well he wanted to know if I hurt you last night, Sti.”

“Oh.”

He shrugs not seeing anything wrong with it and Sti frowns slightly.

“Mischief, don’t make that face. Peter is allowed to be protective over his son. I know how you feel about Derek, but tread carefully.”

“I know, it doesn't mean I have to be happy about it. I don’t want anyone threatening Derek. Especially not because of me.”

“It’s okay, Sti. Peter adores you. I won’t ever do anything to make him follow through on the threat, so it’s okay, Sti.”

Sti frowns deeper for a few seconds before nodding.

“Okay. I will let it slide for now. I don’t want to cause trouble if it’s not necessary.”

“Thank you, Sti.”

“You never need to thank me, Der. You know this. I truly mean it, Der, you never need to thank me for anything.”

At hearing that he ducks to hide his bashful smile, though both of them catch it either way. Sti’s eyes widen slightly, but thankfully leaves it alone. Lydia smirks slightly, catching on quickly that him saying that means something more than it seems. Sti clearly realized that he understands that it means something more coming from him, but doesn’t seem to want to have the conversation yet. Which is decidedly for the best for both of them currently.

“Who are you guys going to make Right Hand since Sti can’t be both CoAlpha and Right Hand?”

“Likely either Jax or Boyd. Der and I will discuss it later. Alone, to figure out who would be better suited for it.”

“That is what he said as well, though he said you get the final call.”

“Why do I get the final call, Der?”

“Because I trust your judgment more than I trust my own, honestly, Sti.”

“Der, we’ll discuss it together and make a decision.”

“Okay, Sti.”

“Lyds, I am going to need your help tomorrow with Danny, since he trusts you more than he trusts me.”

“Why do you think you’re going to need my help instead of Jax?”

“Because you’ll be able to handle it if he freaks out, Jax would not be able to do the same. I won’t let Danny accidentally break Jax after all the work we’ve put into helping him. So Danny will talk with the three of us alone before dealing with any of the rest of the Pack.”

“Sti, do you think he’s going to react badly?”

“No, but I’d rather be safe than sorry. So the three of us are going to be the ones to talk to him about it. Which means Lyds would you be okay with Boyd driving your car tomorrow so that we can ride with Derek and Danny can come home with the three of us?”

“Do you vouch for Boyd, Mischief?”

“He’s driven the Camaro and I trust him, Lyds.”

“That’s not a yes, Mischief.”

“Yes, I vouch for him, Lyds. You can trust him with your car. Or I’ll cover a whole new car for you and a shopping spree for both of us where you get to choose clothes for me.”

“Deal, Mischief. I’ll let Boyd drive my car tomorrow.”

“I probably will regret that, won’t I?”

“I don’t know why you would think that, Mischief.”

“I trust you even less now. No asking Boyd to damage your car. That will negate the deal.”

“Okay. I won’t ask Boyd to damage my car. What do you take me for?”

“Someone who is going to find a cheat to get what she wants, despite my attempts to stop it.”

“I’m not going to purposely sabotage this, Mischief.”

“I’ll pretend to believe you, Lyds.”

“Sti, you probably should have left it at the new car, instead of adding the shopping trip.”

“Yes, I’m aware of that. I was only thinking about what would prove my trust in Boyd. Not what would make her willing to sabotage Boyd.”

“Well you should be mentally prepared to buy her a new car and buy the two of you a new wardrobe, Sti.”

“Yeah, more than likely.”

“You don’t seem too upset about it, Sti.”

“I am not against a new and improved wardrobe, since I’m no longer hiding who I really am.”

“Does that mean you would let her do it without needing to sabotage Boyd?”

“I don’t know.”

“Sti, just say yes so she doesn’t sabotage Boyd.”

“If Boyd hurts your car, I’ll buy you a new car. If he doesn’t hurt your car, I’ll go on a shopping spree with you.”

“Even better, deal.”

“This way you don’t get to upset Boyd.”

“You really love your Pups, it’s cute.”

“Shut up, Lyds.”

“No, Mischief, I’m being serious. It’s precious how much you love the Pups. They need that from you, especially Boyd and Isaac.”

“I know they do, I need to take care of them just the same way they need me to take care of them. I have to keep my Pups safe and happy. I adore them and refuse to let them get hurt.”

“Mischief, that’s why so many of us are so loyal to you. Because you love so fiercely and are so protective over everyone you care about. Like we’re loyal to Derek mostly because he’s your person, we’re always going to be loyal to you first.”

“Derek is a good man. He deserves your respect and loyalty without my help, but I also get why you guys are more focused on me. I trust that since I’m going to be loyal to Derek, you guys will also remain loyal to Derek through me.”

“Sti, I’m okay with them choosing me because you chose me. I’m just thankful to have you on my side. We’d be pretty lost without you. You have done so much for all of us. I couldn’t be more grateful to you for your trust and love.”

“Okay, Der. I’m just thankful that you allowed me to be this close to you. I was worried that you would never be able to trust me even close to the way you do. I like having people that I get to choose to protect again. I love you all so immensely and I wouldn’t trade any of you for anything.”

“Oh, Sti. I’m not sure I ever stood a chance when it came to you. You have always had a way of making me feel safe, even in the beginning. It scared me back then honestly, but it was still there. I learned with time that I could trust and depend on you.”

“Der, I’m glad to know that I’ve always made you feel safe. You don’t know how much that means to me. I never wanted you to feel anything other than safe with me, despite what Scott convinced me to do.”

“I know, Sti. I trust you completely. You’ve done so much for me and the Pack. You have done nothing other than prove yourself time and time again. You are such an important part of the Pack and in my life in general.”

“I love you, Der. You’ve helped me nearly the same amount that I’ve helped you and the Pack. I’d be still under Scott and Deaton’s thumb without you giving me a reason to break their hold over me.”

“I love you too, Sti. I’m glad you felt we were worth going against what you were comfortable with at that point. We really all work so well together, you and Peter were right.”

“I got a Pack that I can be proud to be a part of. All of the Betas are strong resilient intelligent beautiful people, you are as well and the Alphas are also strong resilient intelligent beautiful people. I couldn’t be anything other than proud of the progress we’ve all made, together and as individuals.”

“God, you both are saps, Mischief.”

“Lyds! How rude.”

“Sti, I’m glad you have pride in our Pack.”

Sti just smiles at him before sitting down beside him, easily leaning into his side, startlingly he realizes just how exhausted Sti smells. Knowing that Stiles won’t want it brought up he just silently supports the Spark’s weight and enjoys having him close. Lydia smirks at them and he raises his eyebrow at her, though she just continues to smirk at them and shakes her head. Quickly he checks if Sti is paying attention to them and when he finds him staring at Eli, he flips Lydia off. She chuckles softly and flips him off right back. Who knew little miss princess would resort to flipping him off?

Isaac strides into the living room silently and just sits comfortably against Sti’s legs. It doesn’t take too long for others to join, Boyd and Jackson showing up next. Very quickly the whole of the current Pack is surrounding them, seeking closeness and comfort from their Alphas. He’s pretty sure that the Spark hasn’t realized why this is happening just yet because Sti just smiles softly at everyone, though it doesn’t take all that long before he’s shooting upright in realization.

“Tonight is a full moon. Shit. How could I forget? I promised the Pups their first full moon run. I want both Packs on it and I was thinking about letting Chris come along, if that’s okay with you, Der?”

“That’s okay with me, Sti. We aren’t cooking tonight, are we?”

“I was thinking we could order take out, so we could spend as much time together as we could.”

“That does make sense. I guess I should call for take out while you call the Alphas and Chris.”

“Sounds like a plan.”

There is a soft knock on the backdoor before either of them can actually pull out their phones. Hesitating for merely a moment before Sti opens the door using magic and they all are surprised to see a flustered, terrified Allison on the other side of the door. Though Sti is relaxed as he waves her in and shuts the door back behind her, allowing her sanctuary before the girl can even ask for it, clearly knowing that something is wrong for the girl to come to them for safety.

“Allison, what’s going on? You look terrified.”

“Scott is being creepy and I don’t know if my dad is enough protection from him. Can I stay here until I fly out in two days? I really don’t feel very safe at the moment, not with him able to get to me without much trouble.”

Sti looks at him and he just looks over the Pack before nodding his consent, knowing that it’s for the best to allow the girl sanctuary, leaving her to feel indebted to them even if that’s not the case, hoping it’ll help her get better.

“Okay. You can stay here until you fly out. But you do not hurt my Pups at all.”

“Thank you, Stiles. You don’t understand how grateful I am to you and your Pack for offering me safety. I owe you guys so much.”

“We’ll keep you safe, Ally. Just breathe. He can’t get here without us knowing, I promise.”

“Thank you.”

“Of course, Ally. I’m willing to keep you safe. Your father would never forgive me otherwise.”

With surprising ease and comfort Allison settles herself on the floor across from them, clearly trusting them enough to put herself in such a vulnerable position. He can feel how Sti tenses before pulling out his phone the second it starts ringing. Tensing further, Sti sighs worriedly before answering it, letting him know that Chris is on the other side of the line before he even hears a voice.

“I can’t find Allison!”

“Christopher! Breathe. She’s here and she’s safe. She was feeling unsafe so she came here for us to protect her. You both are staying at least until she flies out, so breathe, pack a bag for you both, and come here.”

“Oh thank god. Okay. I’ll be there soon.”

“We’ll see you soon. Be safe, okay? You guys are coming on the full moon run with us so be ready for that.”

“Okay. Thank you for including us. And letting Allison stay with the Pack because she was scared.”

“Of course, Chris. I care for you enough to care about her wellbeing. And she truly was my friend before things went south.”

“I’ll see you soon. I still appreciate it.”

“Be safe, we’ll see you soon.”

Losing some of his tension, Sti hangs up then immediately calls Kali once he’s off the phone with Chris.

“Kali, you and the rest of the Pack are going on a full moon run with us. No questions. You are coming for it and we’ll discuss things later, okay?”

“Okay, Mischief. We’ll be over soon.”

“Good, see you soon.”

Sti hangs up and turns to him, raising a questioning eyebrow at him and helpless to resist he merely tilts his head slightly in questioning back, not understanding the reason behind the look.

“Der, you need to order food for everyone.”

Feeling silly he nods easily before calling a few different places to order food enough to feed everyone who is going to be eating with them. It’s expensive but worth not having to leave the comfortable puppy pile they have going on. This will be the first full moon run he’s had since he was young and he’s as excited about it as the Pups are.

“What does a full moon run entail?” Allison asks timidly.

“It’s essentially where a Pack runs through the forest freely. The wolves will be shifted and likely will hunt which we will prepare and preserve as we see fit. The more human members will run with them and enjoy nature while watching out for the wolves. We also are looking for Peter’s daughter tonight. Who is a werecoyote full shifted in the Preserve.”

“You’re trusting me with that knowledge?”

“If you betray us you know what will happen, so I’m pretty comfortable with you having that information.”

“Understandable.”

“Mischief, are you going to shift this full moon run?”

“Not this one and you should know why I’m not, Cora.”

“You can shift, Sti?”

“Yes, kind of like an animagus in Harry Potter, but I can actually shift into three separate forms. A wolf and fox are the main ones I use, though um well, I barely use my third one so really it’s not that important.”

“Why aren’t you willing to shift this time, Mis?”

“Because we learned the hard way watching me full shift brings out full shift in others. We had to spend three hours trying to get Cora to shift back last time. I do not want to repeat that experience, much less on such a bigger scale. Since all of the wolves are capable of full shift that are involved with the Hale Pack. And I do not have the energy to try to teach you guys to shift back since none of you are currently capable of doing it on your own.”

“That does sound awful, Sti.”

“Exactly why I’m not going to shift today. I’ll spend the time between now and the next full moon to teach you guys about full shift so that I can actually shift for the next run. Because I truly do miss shifting.”

“Understandable, Sti.”

Unsurprisingly, Chris and the Alphas arrive at the same time, Mieczysław, of course, lets them in. While Chris, of course, rushes into the living room tenser than he’s seen the man and only slightly calms at seeing Allison and Sti both safe. Ignoring that for now, clearly, Sti stands up when Kali comes in the room and he crosses his arms, looking at her. She shrinks back slightly, but after a few seconds stands taller and nods at Sti. Clearly satisfied with the reaction, Sti just hugs her and chuckles.

He has no idea what even just happened between those two, but hopefully that means they are finally going to be just one Pack now. Sti really has a way with people that he doesn't know if he’ll ever really be able to understand, but he appreciates the man for his ability.

Surprisingly, Chris nudges Sti and Kali, clearly wanting Sti’s attention. Easily understanding what the man wants, Sti lets Kali go before pulling Chris into a tight hug. Almost immediately Chris melts against Sti, making him worry if Chris is as okay as he seemed or something worse is going on. Since Chris is almost always on guard or pulled together, so seeing him openly relax like that causes some concern. Just how scared was he when he couldn’t find Allison? What could have played in his mind to seek comfort so openly?

Sti pulls away slightly to look into Chris’s eyes before easily bringing the older man back against him. Clearly worried about the elder hunter as well. He watches the Spark whisper something into Chris that they can’t hear. Chris nods against Sti’s shoulder and pulls him impossibly closer. Peter is starting to worry and it’s pretty clear to every single one of them. Sti turns Chris around so he can see them all before motioning for Peter to come join the hug. Which, of course, Peter joins the hug almost before Sti finishes the motion. So Chris is now safely sandwiched in between Peter and Sti, and is so relaxed in their hold that he never would have thought the man was capable of.

Making eye contact, Sti smiles sadly at him, openly letting him know he’s worried as well. Jackson gets up to join the hug as well, clearly worried about all three of them. It only takes Allison a second longer to join the hug hesitatingly, but they welcome her into the fold easily knowing Allison will help Chris just as well as the rest of them. Slowly but surely, Chris seems to finally pull himself back together, but they don’t leave the hug until the man starts to push them away. Though Sti and Peter don’t leave him, so only Jackson and Allison actually leave the hug. Chris melts against Peter and Sti kisses both of their cheeks before leaving them to sit back beside him.

Sti leans back against him and he loves that Sti does so well with the Pack. He’s so good to the Packs. Helplessly he loves the Spark so much, he is more than he could have ever imagined to have as a mate. He just really hopes they can actually get to that point. Though he knows that they both need to work on themselves more before it will be a good idea for them to get together.

Also they both need to be sure of how they feel about each other before they take that step since the Pack depends on them. If he’s honest with himself though he has no question about his feelings for him, but he’s okay staying as they are if that’s how they need to be. Just having him in his life is worth more than risking their friendship by pushing too far.

Mieczysław walks into the living room and grabs Deucalion, leaving the room afterwards. He doesn't even question it at this point, he expects weird things from Sti and his grandfather both at this point. He hears the front door open and realizes the food must be here. It’s kind of hilarious that Deucalion and Mieczysław are always the ones to get the take out when they order out. He waits to see if he’s right before waking Eli up, since he was exhausted.

Sti sits up straighter when he hears a voice Derek doesn't recognize, but he clearly does. Peter also startles at the voice, turning to see whoever it is. Peter looks shocked at whoever it is, leaving him unsettled in a way he didn’t expect. Sti stands up quickly and heads to the doorway connecting the living room to the dining room. Almost as if he’s guarding them from the man in the other room, which does nothing to settle his nerves about the man in their den

“Uncle Lazor!?”

“Mischief! I’ve missed you!”

“What are you doing here?!”

“Dad told me that you are in a Pack and I wanted to meet them.”

“Lazor, not that I’m not glad to see you, but today is the full moon. We’re going on a full moon run soon. Why couldn’t you have just waited until tomorrow like a normal person?”

“I didn’t think about that. Satomi had told me about your recent issues, so I needed to check on you.”

“Why are people informing you of me this way, Lazor?”

“I’ve been worried about you, Mischief. So I have people keep me informed about you. Even Noah was supposed to keep me informed.”

“Lazor, I’m going to ask you to leave for tonight, please. You can come back tomorrow. I don’t appreciate you showing up unannounced this way.”

“Mischief…”

That wasn’t a suggestion, Lazor. Leave. I’m the heir and you know grandfather will side with me, so please leave for tonight.”

“Okay, Mischief. I’ll come back tomorrow night.”

“Thank you, Lazor.”

Sti stays where he is, watching Lazor to make sure he leaves. Once the Spark relaxes his stance he breathes easier. He is not sure why Stiles kicked his uncle out that way, but he is sure he has his reasoning. Peter relaxes after Lazor leaves as well, which is curious, but he knows he can’t ask in front of the whole Pack. Sti turns around to Peter who nods gratefully at him. So clearly there is something going on there, either with Peter or Chris. He’ll have to ask Sti about it later, since he knows he will be the most likely to tell him and hopefully Peter will allow that.

“Is the food here yet, Sti?”

“No, but it will be here soon based on the wards.”

“Okay, Sti.”

“You might want to wake Eli up, Der.”

“Okay, Sti. Eli, sweetheart. You should wake up now, the food is going to be here soon.”

Eli wakes up and looks around the living room, lost and confused, burrowing closer to him.

“Daddy?”

“Yes, sweetheart?”

“Why are so many people here, daddy?”

“We’re going on a full moon run, cariño.

“Okay, daddy.”

“Grandfather, Deuc, will you go grab the food please? They’re about to knock. I would appreciate it.”

They clearly nod and head for the door considering that when there is a knock on the door it opens almost immediately afterwards. The Pups start getting up to set the table and Derek carries Eli into the dining room. Sti changes the table once more adding chairs before also changing the layout of the table, having two chairs at the head of the table now, since the two of them are CoAlphas officially now. Sti steals Eli from him once he’s done and he frowns at him.

“You’ve had him all afternoon to cuddle. I get him during dinner, Der. Will you get food for us, though?”

“How rude, Sti. Of course though. Even if you’re stealing our son from me, I’ll get the food for you both.”

“Thank you, Der.”

Sti sits down on his chair with Eli on his lap and relaxes back against the chair while waiting for their food. Easily he grabs Sti’s and Eli’s food before he makes his own plate, understanding the Spark is trying to conserve his energy so that he makes it through the full moon run tonight. He gives them their food and then goes about getting his plate as well. He made sure to give both of them extra food since it will help their magic energize them. He would hate for them to not be able to run with everyone tonight, since the Pups were so excited to run as a whole Pack.

Sti checks if Eli wants him to feed him before he starts eating, which melts Derek's heart. Even exhausted he makes sure to take care of Eli first. He loves this man so immensely. How could he have not seen it before? It’s really so obvious to him now, Sti is more than perfect for him. He really hopes he feels the same way when they’re both in the place to make that kind of step. Only time will tell, he guesses.

He starts eating, realizing that everyone is waiting for Sti and him even though they’re not doing formal etiquette for this dinner. He keeps an eye on Eli and Sti, making sure they’re okay throughout dinner. He’s feeling a little overprotective over them right now, clearly, but he knows he needs to calm that before the others realize and start to worry about them as well. Neither of them would be happy about the extra attention and he doesn’t want to upset either one of them.

They finish eating fairly quickly and once they’re all done they, the ones that need to at least, change into loose clothing for the run. While the others are getting ready, Sti pulls Allison and Chris to the side and motions for him to join them. He heads over to them easily, knowing Sti wouldn’t ask for him for no reason. Shivering slightly as he feels the sensation of Sti placing a silencing bubble around the four of them.

“Ally, Chirs, I’m going to ask you both to be unarmed for the run. If something happens I am armed, so is my grandfather, not to mention we have so many wolves who are very capable of protecting you both. So for now I ask you both to leave your weapons, I’d rather be safe than sorry.”

“Okay, Stiles. I trust you with my safety. I understand that you’re not comfortable for me to be armed around your Pack currently.”

“Why am I included in that? I thought you trusted me.”

“I do, Père. I just don’t want to single Allison out. It’s not fair to her.”

“Oh. Okay. I can understand that, Fils.”

Sti smiles at the name, hugging Chris tightly to him, showing just how much the older hunter means to him.

“Thank you for understanding, Père.”

Easily both Allison and Chris leave their weapons on the table in the hallway, as a show of trust and understanding. Sti sends all of the weapons up to his room in case his father comes home while they’re on the run, since that would do them no good. Then Sti removes the silencing bubble and they rejoin the group. Taking a moment, Sti looks over everyone to check on them before proceeding to lead all of them to the Preserve at a walk while people can see them.

That pace changes the second they’re in the Preserve though, when Sti nods easily, telling all of the wolves that it’s okay to shift. They look around the Pack and then take off further into the Preserve. He keeps close to Sti and Eli, just for his peace of mind. Sti notices and smiles softly at him, shaking his head. Allison and Chris are keeping up a little too well, he’s not sure how to feel about that, but he trusts Stiles' judgment, so he’ll leave it alone.

Sti chuckles and scoops Eli up, running faster than him. He startles for a second before speeding up to catch back up with him. Sti just chuckles and speeds up again to be ahead of him. He shakes his head and speeds up again to catch back up enjoying the game despite himself.

Seemingly out of nowhere, Sti stops abruptly causing him to stop a second later, worried. Feeling slightly helpless he heads to Sti who is clearly sensing something he’s not. The second he reaches the Spark though, Sti shoves Eli on his back and then takes off in a sprint. He follows without hesitation, understanding that Sti must have sensed something at the Nemeton based on where he is heading.

Easily he makes sure Eli is secure on his back as he speeds up to catch up to Sti. Only really thinking that he does not want Stiles to have to handle it all alone if there is something wrong. They can keep Eli safe if need be and honestly the precious boy can kind of protect himself by this point. Belatedly he realizes the Pack is following after them, also clearly realizing something is going on. He’s kind of glad to know the whole of the Pack is going to be behind them.

Finally, Sti reaches the Nemeton and growls surprisingly wolflike, storming over to the figure by the healed tree. Power whipping out around him in an incredibly arousing and terrifying way, leaving him a little more breathless than he’d like to admit. But easily joins the Spark as close as he knows that Stiles will be comfortable with them being at least.

“Marin, what the hell do you think you’re doing?”

“Something I’m not supposed to be doing.”

“Clearly, Marin. What was your plan?”

“I wanted to ask for the Nemeton’s help to kill someone.”

“Who?”

“Julia.”

“Who is that?”

“The Darach that was after the Alpha Pack and I.”

“That’s why you were asking for sanctuary?”

“Yes, though they didn’t know who it was.”

“I’m pretty sure I already killed her. Let me ask the Nemeton.”

Sti touches the tree, eyes glowing brightly, once more he is mildly aroused by seeing his power. That’s not even talking about the way the power feels as it radiates off of him, brushing almost comfortingly over his body. Stiles is so much more powerful than even they give him credit for, which is stupid of them. Pulling his hands away from the tree and turning towards Marin, the Spark looks even more annoyed with the woman.

“I killed her when she went after my Pups. She’s dead. Don’t touch my Nemeton again.”

“Understood.”

Sti marches her out of the clearing and then touches her forehead, eyes glowing once more. After he’s done with whatever he is doing he crosses his arms and blocks her view of the clearing. She leaves quickly after that and Sti relaxes after a few minutes.

“Sorry guys. We can continue the run now. I just really didn’t like someone touching my Nemeton, I just healed them, I can’t let anything happen to them anymore.”

“Definitely understandable, Sti.”

Sti steals Eli back and starts the run again. They all shift again and follow after him, knowing he still wants to enjoy it. Some of the Pups branch off to hunt, Erica leading the group unsurprisingly. Peter drags Chris somewhere and Isaac steals Eli from Sti. Sti stops and stares after Isaac, Jackson and Lydia running off with their son. He stops as well so the Spark isn’t too far behind him.

“Did he really just steal our son from me?”

“Yes he did, Sti. He wanted time with his brother. Just let him. Come on. Run with me, Sti.”

“Fine, Der.

Sti takes off again and he is hot on his heels. The Spark was clearly keeping a slower pace than he was capable of while he had Eli, since it’s taking a lot more effort to catch up with him this time. Derek enjoys running by his side, though he keeps trying to race. That’s not as fun though, Derek enjoys just running freely with him.

Allison runs near them, probably thinking she’s safest with them. Which makes sense. They are the Alphas and the most likely to wipe Scott out of it came to it. He thinks that she was willing to be unarmed on the run bodes well with her coming back better. He hopes for Lydia and Sti’s sake she does come back a better person. Though it’ll take a lot for him to be genuinely comfortable with having her close to the Pack. She nearly killed all of Derek’s original Pups.

“Mom!”

Sti stops the instant someone calls for him and he easily stops with him. They look around for a second and then catch sight of Boyd.

“Boyd?”

“We might have made a bad decision to go hunting.”

“Why do you think that?”

“We might have overdone it, Mom.”

“I don’t like how cryptic you are being, Boyd. What did you guys do?”

Boyd just waves them to follow him instead of saying anything. Sti, Allison and Derek follow after him, cautiously. Helpless to stop himself he just gapes at the pile of elk and deer that the Pups killed. Cora, Erica, Kali and Ennis are covered in so much more blood than Boyd is, which must be why they sent him to get them. Sti just shakes his head before cleaning them with magic, exasperation rolling off him, but with an undertone of fondness.

“There are five of you and you literally killed 15 elk and 12 deer in like maybe 45 minutes. You guys definitely went overboard. I do not want to prepare and preserve that many, but I wouldn’t feel right if we didn’t. Sorry, no more hunting for tonight. I already don’t want to deal with as many as you already hunted. We’ll come back for them before we head home. I’ll place a spell on them to keep them as fresh as possible.”

“Okay, mom.”

Sti places the spell on the pile of deer and elk and leads the Pups away from their kills. He and Allison silently follow after them, both kind of overwhelmed with the pile of bodies despite themselves. Things change once more when Sti’s eyes flash before taking off running again. They follow behind him and he stops outside of a little cave. Kneeling down he flashes his eyes into the cave.

Malia .”

A coyote walks out of the den and flashes her blue eyes at Sti. Sti reaches out a hand to her and waits for her to react someway. She sniffs his hand and rubs against him. Sti smiles softly at her and pets her.

“Malia, are you okay with us having you shift back? Your biological father would really like to meet you. We’ll get custody from your adopted dad, so that we can teach you control of your gifts.”

Malia whines lightly, but nods despite the fear she clearly feels. Sti summons clothes for her before taking a deep breath, power once more radiating off of the Spark.

Shift back, Malia!

They all can physically feel the command in his voice. Malia shifts into her human form and lays breathing heavily. Sti rushes forward to help her stand and put the clothes on. Malia melts into Sti’s side after she is dressed. Sti runs a hand over her hair and keeps her close until she is calm enough to pull away from Sti. He really has a way with people, it’s amazing what he is capable of. He was able to get her to shift back and is able to calm her.

Peter will be ecstatic to have both of his biological children back. Derek thinks it’s kind of funny that of the four kids that are his and his mates there are two sons and two daughters. Derek wonders if he’ll eventually feel the same way about Allison that he feels about Sti and Jackson. He guesses Allison would need to come back at least like Chris before he could adopt her that way.

Malia pulls herself together finally and pulls away from Sti. Sti smiles at her and she smiles back shakily, but stands strong beside the Spark.

“I go by Stiles or Mischief, this is Derek Hale, he’s your cousin, that’s Erica and Boyd two of our Betas, Cora Hale who is also your cousin, Kali and Ennis who are hopefully going to join our Pack soon, and Allison who is the daughter of your father’s mate, well one of them. Most of them are werewolves. I’m a Spark, which is a magic user. Your biological father was not aware of you or your brother until very recently, due to the actions of a magic user that used to be the Hale Emissary. He was not a good man, but that can be explained later.”

“Stiles, Derek, Erica, Boyd, Cora, Kali, Ennis and Allison. Okay.”

Malia points at each person as she says each name. Sti nods easily, letting her know she got all of the names and faces correct. Malia nods and leans against Sti again, seeking comfort from who she likely sees as her Alpha now.

Derek feels the bond with her quickly settling in with the others, surprising him. He did not think she was going to accept them as Pack so quickly, especially since she doesn’t technically need a Pack the same way wolves do. But he thinks she feels a connection to Sti and then Cora and him are in her subconscious family bonds. So that does make it easier for her to accept them. Also she likely smells the family blood in Cora and him and Peter’s smell on Sti.

Sti easily wraps an arm around Malia while heading back to where they’re supposed to meet with the rest of the Pack. They follow after them, knowing that Sti doesn’t want to stress Malia out during the full moon. So the run is over for them tonight. Sti sits on a tree stump with Maila and his eyes glow after a few seconds. Derek can feel the rest of the Pack heading towards them, which honestly doesn’t surprise him as much as it should, that he is able to call the Pack like that.

Peter and Chris arrive first and Peter’s knees buckle at the sight of his daughter. Sti smiles softly at Peter though Derek can feel his underlining amusement.

“That’s Peter Hale and Chris, your father and one of his mates. Peter, Chris, this is Malia, Peter’s daughter.”

“I wasn’t sure we were going to be able to find you, Malia. I’m glad to meet you. We’ve been trying to find you since we found out about you.”

“Stiles told me. I’m glad to meet you as well.”

“This is about to be very interesting. Introducing everyone to Malia at once. I don’t think any of us were actually expecting me to find her tonight.”

The rest of the Pack stumbles into the clearing along with Sti’s grandfather. Sti goes through the introductions to everyone there. Malia handles it well, surprisingly. Despite there being so many people that she has to learn the name of, after shifting back to human for the first time after years. Sti leads all of them back to the kills the Pack did to collect them. Sti does a spell that works as a notice me not charm, and leads them all back to his backyard instead of the front door.

Sti leads the Pups through processing the venison in his backyard after he gets supplies from inside. The Pups learn it quickly so Sti heads inside to grab more supplies for the preservation of the venison. They all go through the process of persevering the venison a few different ways. Including starting the process of venison jerky.

He’s not really surprised that Sti has all these supplies for this, but he feels like some of the Pack is. They seem to forget that he was partially raised by Peter. Of course he was going to know about these things. Also his mom seemed the type to want to do this as well. Especially since clearly Mieczysław is well versed in the process. They are hunters and likely practice with animals when young so they know how to preserve meat from hunts.

Derek assumes he is right based on the ease Allison and Chris are handling it as well. It just makes sense. The Pups are doing fairly well for it being their first time. Though Jackson and Lydia are doing it nearly with the same ease that Sti and Mieczysław are, which means they also have done this before, more than likely with the Gajos family, if he were to have to wager a guess.

They all need a shower because even with magic there is a lot of blood all over them. They also need to clean Sti’s backyard before sunrise. Because it does look like a crime scene. They don’t need to draw too much attention to themselves. They already have more attention paid to them than is healthy considering Sti and his father are such known people in the community. Jackson and David definitely don’t help in that case either. Neither does Lydia honestly, the ‘wonders’ of popularity.

They finally finish with all of the meat and Sti vanishes the blood and non usable parts of the venison in the backyard. He looks over everyone and frowns. He clearly realized what Derek did. That they all need a shower.

“Chris, Peter take the shower in dad’s room, Allison, Cora, Malia, Erica and Lyds take the shower in my room, Kali, Ennis, Deuc, Derek and grandfather take the last upstairs shower, Isaac, Boyd, Eli, Ethan, Aiden, Jackson and I will take the shower down here. Please be careful about getting blood all over the house. My father will freak out if he sees blood all over the walls and such.”

Everyone nods and they all head to the showers. The first one goes in and they all wait for their turn. Derek is very careful about not getting blood anywhere. He doesn't know how Sti does it but he has clothes for everyone ready for them in the bathroom. He impresses Derek immensely, sometimes without even trying. Finally they’re all done and meet in the living room as a group.

“Alpha Pack, are you staying the rest of the night?”

“Yeah, I think that’s for the best, Mischief.”

“Okay, you guys can either stay in the basement with us or my room with my grandfather. Chris, I think you should stay with Allison, so she’s not alone in one of the guest rooms. Malia, you’re staying in the basement with us, as long as you’re okay with that. The other guest room is open to whoever wants it, if someone wants it. Though if the Pack is okay with it we could all stay in the basement tonight. It depends on everyone’s comfort level.”

Sti looks around the Pack for their opinion and when everyone nods, Sti smiles.

“We’re all sleeping in the basement for tonight. Full moon puppy pile for the win. Hell yes, all the cuddling!”

He can’t resist laughing at Sti and neither can many others. They all easily follow Sti down to the basement. Malia sticks close to Sti, unsurprisingly and Peter sticks close to Malia and Sti, which means so does Chris. Allison gets stuck in between the twins and Ennis and Kali. Which is amusing to say the least. He lays beside Sti and Eli lays over the two of them once again. Fairly soon they all fall asleep after the eventful full moon run they had tonight.

He wakes up with Sti and the Pups that have to go to school since he has to drive Sti and Lydia to school. Sti gets everyone a small breakfast while the Pups are getting ready, which Derek of course helps him with. Then Sti goes to get ready himself and handle Maila, freaking out from him leaving the bed.

“I have to go to school, Malia. I’ll be back in a few hours. Go back to sleep, I’ll be back before you notice it.”

“Okay, Stiles.”

Sti comes back up a few moments later and rushes through eating. He keeps the Pups focussed on being ready to go. He nudges Lydia who seems to be falling asleep in her food and she straightens up.

“Lyds, tell Boyd what’s happening this morning.”

“Boyd, you’re going to drive Erica and Isaac in my car today. Sti and I are riding in the Jeep with Derek to and from school. Please treat my car well.”

Boyd nods determinedly and accepts the keys for Lydia’s car. Erica seems jealous about Boyd getting to drive and when Sti notices he frowns momentarily.

“Eri, we’ll find a doctor in the know to clear you to be able to drive. I know there are a few. I might have to ask Satomi though, since I don’t know any off the top of my head.”

“Thank you so much. That would be amazing. I would love to be able to drive.”

“I know, Eri. We’ll figure it out. I’ll call Satomi tomorrow about it.”

“Thank you, Batman.”

“Of course, Catwoman.”

Sti checks the time and starts to rush the Pups to finish. The Pups easily follow as Sti directs them. It’s amazing to see him so easily in control of the situation. Sti herds the Pack and Derek out of the door to the cars. He makes sure each of the Pups get into a car before he forces Derek into the driver's seat of the Jeep and herds Lydia into the backseat. Once everyone is settled, he finally gets in the Jeep and hands over the keys.

Derek starts the Jeep and starts driving them to school easily. Lydia is nearly falling asleep in the backseat, making him glad Sti didn’t let her drive. Sti is watching Lydia, concerned. Though he doesn't doubt she’ll pull herself together before going into school. Sti smells nervous, but he’s unsure why he is. Though it makes sense if he’s worried about talking to Danny after school.

Derek reaches the school and he pulls up to the drop off area since he’s only dropping them off. There are two cars in front of him so there is ample time for kids to see him dropping them off. Which is very much not surprising with his luck. Sti and Lydia get out of the Jeep before the other two cars pull off. Which leaves him awkwardly waiting for them to move.

“Holy shit, Stilinski. Who is the hot guy you’re allowing to drive your Jeep? Your boyfriend?”

“Shut the fuck up, idiot. He’s a human fucking being, not an object. No, he’s my best friend, idiot.”

“I bet you’re just mad because he won’t date your scrawny ass.”

“Would I date him if he wanted me to, yes, but his friendship is super important to me. I do not care about shallow shit like that. He is my best friend and if you don’t shut up about him soon I will beat your ass. Don’t forget how many fights I’ve won, idiot. I can and will destroy you.”

“Okay. Fuck man. No need to get violent.”

“No need to treat someone like a fucking object, asshole.”

“Okay, fuck, man.”

Sti looks back at him with wide eyes, knowing he could hear the Spark. He just smiles and waves, watching as Sti calms and walks into school. The cars in front of him finally drive off, so he can leave. He waits until he is at the halfway point before he thinks about what Sti said. He does have romantic feelings for him. Peter and Cora were right. Gods he hopes he fully feels the same way about him. But they still need to heal some before they can take that step.

Parking at the house, he heads inside, setting an alarm for when he needs to leave to pick them up, not quite trusting himself to remember in time otherwise. Then he heads back to the basement to sleep some more with the remaining Pack. He falls back asleep easily, for which he’s grateful for. So he doesn't have to actually come up with something to distract himself for the entire day before he gets to pick up Sti and the other two.

Waking up a few hours later, he sees that he has less than an hour before he has to pick them up. So he goes to check on Eli who is of course with Mieczysław, training. He watches them train until he has to leave, so he doesn't have to find a distraction himself. They’re working with air today, which is causing some really funny situations for the two of them. His alarm starts to go off so he leaves them to it and heads for the Jeep.

He drives to the school again and waits in the pick up lane for Sti, Lydia and Danny to come out. Smiling softly to himself he catches sight of the Pups coming out and standing by him and the Jeep, waiting for The Spark Alpha as well. Sti comes out with Lydia and Danny trailing after him after which he hugs the Pups while Danny and Lydia just get in the backseat. Hiding his smile he watches as the Spark ushers the Pups to the other cars before joining them in the Jeep.

“So Cousin Miguel?”

“Oh god. Shut up, Danny. His name is Derek Hale. I just couldn’t tell you who he was then. I am not stupid enough to admit to harboring a fugitive. Though I could have come up with a better story for who he was, I admit.”

“I knew who he was, so I didn’t really care. I just wanted to tease you. Does this mean I get to know what the fuck has been going on with all of you?”

“It’s red pill, blue pill time. So which do you choose?”

“Red pill, of course.”

“Blunt or sugar coated?”

“Blunt, since I’m pretty sure I have it figured out already.”

“So Derek is an Alpha werewolf, Jax, Isaac, Erica and Boyd he turned. Scott is also a wolf but that’s much more complicated. I’m a Spark, which is a magic user and Lydia is a banshee.”

“I was right. Though Jax was something else first, wasn't he? He really was the one that attacked me, wasn’t he?”

“He was a Kanima when he first turned. Yes, he was being controlled by Matt at that time. But now he’s a wolf, though he still can have traits from the Kanima.”

“Okay. That explains so many things. I knew something was wrong, but I couldn’t fully figure it out.”

“Yeah, we weren’t sure what was happening for far too long as well. We’ll explain everything with time. If you want to join the Pack, I mean.”

“Jackson is my best friend and so is Lydia, of course I’m going to join the Pack.”

“Okay, does that mean you’re comfortable telling us what you are?”

“I’m a descendant of Kane and Lono, so I’m kind of a demigod, but my parents were the actual descendants of the two of them directly.”

“I knew there was something there. I just didn’t want to figure it out without your permission. Because I do trust you, Danny.”

“Thank you for trusting me, Mischief.”

“Of course, Dannyboy. I trusted you enough for you to plant a tracking chip in me, so I have to trust you to tell me what you are in your own time. I knew you weren’t a threat to the Pack, so I was comfortable waiting for you to tell me yourself.”

“I wouldn’t hurt any of you.”

“I know.”

“Sti, can I start driving now?”

“Yes, sorry, Der.”

He starts driving to the current Pack house, while Sti and Danny spend the entirety of the ride making dog jokes until Lydia cracks up under the sheer amount they’re making. He chuckles softly as well, since he has to admit they are making some good jokes. He knows Sti is doing it to hopefully get them out of Danny’s system before he sees Jackson again. Since Sti is very protective over his Pups and the last thing the Spark would want is Jackson getting hurt.

“Sti, you didn’t tell Danny that you are CoAlpha.”

“Oh, yeah. I’m also Alpha of the Pack. Derek asked me to CoAlpha with him yesterday. Because I am an Alpha in my own right. So Der decided with my grandfather that we should share the role, so neither of us have the full pressure of the Alpha status.”

“That’s impressive for a magic user, right? Even for a Spark.”

“It is. I was already the strongest Spark in a century, but I evolved recently. So now I’m one of four throughout history to even become the highest ranking magic user any can reach.”

“Well congratulations, Mischief.”

“Thank you, I was not on board with it in the beginning, but Der made me realize that it’s a good thing that I evolved.”

“I understand.”

He parks the Jeep and they all get out to head inside. Eli rushes to Sti and Derek the second they make it inside unsurprisingly. Sti scoops Eli up and cuddles Eli to him.

“Hey, sweetheart.”

“Hi, mommy. I missed you.”

“I missed you too, sweet boy.”

“Daddy picked you up today?”

“Yes he did, sweetheart.”

“Do I get to show you the progress I made today, or does it have to wait, mommy?”

Sti looks at Danny with a raised eyebrow and Danny nods.

“We’ll all watch, sweetheart.”

“Okay, mommy.”

“We’ll go to the backyard, sweetheart.”

Sti leads them all into the backyard and sets Eli on the ground, allowing the excited boy to show them what he’s learned today.

“You ready?”

They all nod and Eli proceeds to show them all that he has learned today. Including levitating using the air to float. Which is very impressive to all of those watching the young Spark, even Stiles is looking on with awe.

“You can do that too, Mischief?”

“Yes, want to see?”

“Of course.”

Sti levitates as well, but he goes further than Eli did and he essentially starts to fly around the backyard. They’re all gaping at Sti when he lands back down. Sti blushes at the looks on their faces.

“Okay, enough. Eli just did the beginner version of it. It shouldn’t be this surprising that I am able to do more than he was able to.”

“That was incredible, Mischief.”

“Shut up, Danny.”

He realizes Sti is actually upset with the attention, so he frowns and tries to think of something to help. He can make a joke, but would that make everyone else upset with him? Truly he doesn't know what to do to fix this situation, but he knows he needs to for Sti’s sake.

“I think it was cooler when Eli did it, sorry, Sti.”

Sti smiles softly at him, knowing he’s trying to help. Eli beams up at him, melting his heart, so he immediately scoops him up. Very grateful to get to have this relationship with his son now. The young Spark really is such a great kid, but it took him so long to see it, see past who the boy’s womb provider was. Hates how long it took him to see Eli as a person, instead of a ghost of Kate and everything she stood for.

“Can I ask about the kid now?”

“Danny, this is Eli Hale, Derek’s son. Eli, this is Danny, a new Packmate. He calls me mom because while I’m CoAlpha, I’m also Denmaker, which is essentially Pack Mom.”

“We also call him our son, because he might as well be ours. Sti will tell you more later. Just trust me, Sti is better than his biological mother.”

Danny nods in understanding. Sti nudges him slightly and tries to steal their son back. He shakes his head and turns around, keeping Eli out of reach of the other Alpha. Knowing that Eli can’t be with them while the demigod is read into the Pack.

“Der. Please? I want to cuddle our son.”

“No, you need to finish reading in the Packmate you invited. You can cuddle him later. Go do your job.”

“I can read him in, while cuddling our son.”

“No, you can’t, Sti. You know we don’t talk about certain things with him there yet. He’s too young for some of the stuff.”

“Fine. Come on, Danny, Lyds. Let’s go inside to continue the conversation from the car.”

Sti pouts at him while walking away, making it much harder than he’d think to resist. Remaining strong, he resists giving in to the Spark’s demands for their son because he knows Eli also needs to take a nap like he always does after practicing magic. He carries Eli inside to sit on the couch with him and hears Sti getting Malia to come with them to get read in on everything as well. Surprising him, Jackson comes to sit beside him, leaning against him.

“You okay, Jackson?”

“I’m scared that Danny will abandon me after he learns everything.”

“He won’t, Jackson, he’s joining the Pack for you.”

“How are you so sure?”

“He said it when Sti asked him if he was going to join the Pack. He said of course, he was joining for you. He already knows you attacked him, and that it was not under your own control, so nothing will change that for him, I’m sure of it.”

“Promise?”

“Yes, Jackson, I promise.”

“Can I cuddle with you and Eli?”

“Of course, Pup.”

“Thank you, Alpha.”

Jackson takes Eli from him before laying in his lap with Eli securely in his arms. He runs his hand over both of their arms to comfort them, knowing it’ll help soothe them. Soon after they settle, they are pretty quickly asleep curled against him. The ease of them falling asleep on him brings a helpless smile to his face, staring down at them affectionately leaving him refusing to move until they wake up.

This is one of the few times one of the Pups have sought comfort from him, so honestly he is going to enjoy it for as long as possible. Heart full he realizes how much he really loves the Pack, they’re all so more than he ever could have hoped for. Sti has really brought them all together and honestly he couldn’t be more grateful for all the work that Stiles has put into their Pack.

Looking away from the duo sprawled across his lap he catches Chris watching them with a soft smile aimed their way. Surprised once more, he waves awkwardly at Chris who just chuckles softly in response. Striding easily over to the three of them, Chris sits beside him with an ease that surprises him. Though even more surprising is that he, himself, doesn’t tense when the man settles beside them, feeling rather comfortable with the action.

“I honestly think this is the first time I’ve genuinely realized that you are a person. Part of me has blamed you for having to help Victoria kill herself. But I know that it’s not your fault, she was trying to kill a teenager and you were merely trying to stop her.”

“Thank you, Chris. I’m glad to know you no longer blame me. I am sorry you had to help kill your wife though, I couldn’t imagine the way that had to have felt. If it helps, I don’t hold Kate’s actions against you, not anymore. I know you’re different from her, that you wouldn’t have approved of what she did, and I know you are willing to learn from Sti and Mieczysław how to be a proper hunter, to continue improving.”

“Thank you, Derek. It honestly means a lot to me that you can see that already. I know it’s not going to be perfect between us, not without a lot of work, but I’m glad to put the effort in so that we can have a friendship considering you’re in love with the man I’ve adopted as a son.”

“Don’t tell him, please. Neither of us are in the place to have a healthy relationship right now. We’ll get there when we’re ready to, but not a second before then, there is too much at stake to take the risk before we’re ready.”

“I won’t tell him, that’s not my place, and I won’t do you the disservice of threatening you. I know that you won’t purposely hurt him, I have no doubts about that. Also I’m fairly sure Peter already threatened you.”

“Thank you, Chris. I don’t think Sti would let you get away with threatening me the way he let it go when it came to Peter. So honestly it’s a good thing you decided against it.”

“He is quite protective of you, isn’t he?”

“He is, but honestly I really appreciate it.”

“I’m glad you appreciate him for being so protective over you.”

“For some reason he thought that I would resent him for it, which is absurd. Honestly he’s just amazing, Chris. He’s pulled us all together in a way I thought was impossible, he’s even slowly bringing Allison into the fold and it’s actually working despite the history.”

“He truly is an incredible man. I’m just glad he’s giving Allison and I a chance. Honestly I’m no longer surprised by him choosing you and the Pack the way he did, I can see exactly why he made that choice.”

“I… I really appreciate you saying that, Chris.”

“You know I’m in love with Peter, right? I never stopped loving him, wouldn’t have been able to stop even if I wanted to. It killed me knowing what happened to him and the rest of your Pack, finding out the full story only made it worse.”

“I know you love him or Sti would kill you. He wouldn’t let you near Peter if he had a single doubt about you. Why do you think Noah isn’t allowed near the two of you right now? Sti won’t let him near you guys until he’s stable. He doesn’t want either of you to be hurt, especially not by him.”

“I didn’t know that. Peter didn’t tell me, but that does make sense. I’m glad you and Stiles are allowing me near Peter, I was scared that I would be threatened into an inch of my life before I was even able to talk to him after everything that happened.”

“If Sti didn’t trust you the way he does, we all would be against it. But Sti trusts you and you know how he is. So we are all accepting of it because we trust Sti.”

“Considering how protective he is, I definitely get why you guys defer to him in those situations. Everyone has to prove themselves to Mischief before any of you are willing to consider them. I can see why that would work for you guys.”

“Without a doubt. If Sti doesn’t trust someone, I will never trust them. Sti is rarely wrong of his own volition.”

“Definitely understandable.”

Peter comes into the living room and sits in between Chris’s legs without hesitation. He can’t help how his eyes widen in surprise. Peter trusts Chris more than he expected for him to, to put himself in that position . Peter has always been the most headstrong Beta he’s ever seen, so seeing him put himself in that position with Chris of all people steels his resolve to have a better relationship with Chris moving forward.

Chris notices his eye and raises an eyebrow at him and he just shakes his head. He might explain to the man later, but he’s absolutely not going to draw attention to it in front of Peter. Though he knows he needs to talk to Sti about it later, since the Spark very much would like to know about this. The three of them just sit together quietly while Jackson and Eli are sleeping on him.

After around 15 minutes of them sitting in silence, Sti comes back downstairs. Stopping in his tracks at the sight of them, the Spark openly stares at them for a few moments. Before taking a picture of them after making sure neither he or Peter are looking directly at the camera.

Sti smiles at them softly and sits down beside Peter, slightly against his leg. Malia joins them  pretty soon after that, dragging Danny and Lydia with her. The coyote lays in Sti’s lap with her legs stretched across Lydia’s lap. Danny sits beside Lydia and stares adoringly at Jackson and Eli cuddling. Sti nudges him lightly and when he looks at him he is looking at Danny smiling. He smiles at Sti caring so much about their Pups.

They all sit in silence until Jackson and Eli wake up, the hybrid startles at the new people that joined while he was asleep. Jackson stares at Danny the second he catches sight of him and Danny is still staring at him adoringly. Sti sees this and steals Eli from Jackson, fairly sure where that is going. Jackson sits up, still staring at Danny and he tries not to gag at the smells absolutely rolling off the two of them. Sti tries to hide his smirk, but he sees it out of the corner of his eye.

Sti tries to hide his chuckle, but of course fails. Though Jackson and Danny are deaf to the rest of them. Lydia decides enough is enough and slaps both of their legs. They both startle and look at the rest of them. Sti starts to cackle and motions them to go do that somewhere else.

“Go get together not in front of us, please and thank you. There is a child here. You do not need to do that in front of mine and Derek’s son.”

Both Jackson and Danny blush at Sti’s blunt way of handling them, but they do leave. In response to that, Sti hands him back Eli so he can laugh into Peter's chest. Leaving Malia looking disgruntled at being disturbed on Sti’s lap.

“Sorry, I just did not expect that to happen right now. Like I knew that they were into each other, but was not expecting them to get together so soon. Especially not trying to do it with an audience.”

“Sti, at least you don’t have our senses.”

“Who said that, Der?”

“What do you mean, Sti?”

“You know there are runes to give enhanced senses like the ones you have, right, Der?”

“No I did not, Sti.”

Sti raises his shirt to show runes tattooed onto his back.

“Mischief, when did you get those?”

“I was young when I got them, Tata. It was my gift for becoming heir from my mother. I’ve just been keeping them magically hidden until now.”

“I have so many questions, sweetheart. Which senses does it work on? How does it work for you? Does it work all the time or only when you want it to? Just how does it work, Mischief?”

“Well it works on my smell, hearing, it aids my healing as well, it also aids in my reflexes and helps channel my magic to various different skills. I don’t really know how to explain it. It is kind of a mixture of the two, I can force it off, but overall it works all the time. But I can ignore it, just like I’ve always done unless it was necessary to use. Though sometimes it becomes too much for me to ignore like when they were stinking up the whole living room.

Honestly I barely remember I actually have it most of the time. I had to learn how to ignore it before I knew about my ADHD so now that I have that knowledge and coping mechanisms for that it makes it much easier to forget I even have them. Which is why I sometimes still use eavesdropping spells when I don’t actually need to. Because I quite literally forget I have the extra senses.”

“That’s why you did so well handling Scott’s extra sense though isn’t it?”

“Yes.”

“That is not expected, sweetheart. I think you surprised all of us.”

“Well ready for the extra shock?”

“Oh goodness what is it?”

“Lydia has the same runes and we also have other cool enhancements that would blow up your world view.”

“What enhancements, sweetheart?”

“We’re able to channel creatures that we are not, due to being a Spark and Banshee respectively. My grandmother taught us when we were young. The same reason she was able to have the runes as well, when Jackson couldn’t.”

“Mischief, you knew the whole time what I was?!”

“Well okay, yeah I did. I’m really sorry, Lyds. My grandmother told me that I wasn’t allowed to tell you until you officially started presenting. Because of the damage it could cause for you to know too early.”

“Okay, Mischief. We’ll talk about this later. But we will be talking about this. Don’t forget you owe me a shopping spree either. Cora, Danny, Jackson and I are all allowed to choose clothes for you.”

“Okay, Lyds. Whatever you want. I will trust you.”

“That’s what Lydia meant when she said grandmother had taught you well, sweetheart?”

“Yes. I used that particular skill to knock Scott out. I channeled Berserker strength to make sure he was knocked out and stayed that way.”

“That’s why you said you couldn’t explain, right?”

“Correct. It’s supposed to be a tightly kept secret. But I trust the Pack with it.”

“That’s good to know, sweetheart. We’ll keep it quiet. It’s good to have a secret weapon.”

“Exactly. Derek was the first one I had ever told. Hadn’t even really thought about it since my mother died.”

“Can your grandfather do it as well?”

“He can, but doesn’t know how to. They typically only teach females in our family or close to the family, but my grandmother wanted me to know how to do it, especially when they decided to make me heir. Which is why she taught Lydia as well.”

“Are you going to teach me, mommy?”

“You are definitely going to learn, sweetheart. It’ll help my and Derek’s peace of mind for you to have that ability. I might teach the rest of the men in my family it as well.”

“Maybe only your cousins, sweetheart.”

“Peter, I swear to you that he isn’t going to be a threat.”

“We’ll talk about this later, sweetheart.”

“Okay, Tata.”

Looking between the duo he knows that he definitely needs to ask Sti about the history between Peter and Lazor. Because clearly something serious happened there. He doesn't like not knowing things like this.

He can feel Sti tense and realizes speak of the devil and he comes. Lazor is back clearly and he’s unsure how to handle it. Sti stands up and heads to the door. He listens to Sti open the door and tense slightly.

“This will be your single warning. You will treat my whole Pack respect or you will be out on your ass quickly. I’m very protective over them and will not hesitate to take you out if necessary.”

“Understood, Mischief.”

“Okay, come in then.”

Sti clearly calls the whole Pack again since everyone comes into the living room before Sti and Lazor even reach them. Peter stands before Lazor and Sti walk into the living room, clearly needing to be in a safer position. He stands beside his uncle, handing Isaac Eli. Sti comes to stand beside Peter, so they’re flanking him. Understanding Peter needs to feel safe while Lazor is here. Lazor stands opposite of them and he’s not sure if it’s done maliciously or not.

“Lazor, this is our Left Hand Peter Hale, Derek Hale is beside him who is one of the Alphas. I’m CoAlpha of our Pack. These are our Betas Malia, Lydia, Jackson, Danny, Isaac, Erica, Boyd. Chris is a Pack elder. Eli is our only Pack child. Deucalion, Ennis, Kali, Ethan and Aiden are likely to merge Packs with us, but currently they are only Pack allies. All five of them are Alphas and even if they haven’t officially joined our Pack I consider them Pack. You will treat all of them with respect, Lazor.”

“Understood, Heir Gajos.”

Sti nods curtly and Lazor looks over the Pack.

“None of you are comfortable having me here right now, right?”

“It’s nothing personal, Lazor. You’re the first stranger in our current den. They don’t know you, which means they don’t trust you.”

“Would you rather meet elsewhere another day, since I would still like to get to know your Pack, but don’t want to make them uncomfortable to do so?”

“That would be preferable, Lazor. We can set something up at a different time. We can figure out a time and place later.”

“Okay, Mischief. That works for me. I apologize for upsetting you all by coming to your den twice, I wasn’t aware that this was your den.”

Sti nods and leads Lazor to the door. Peter relaxes back against Chris the second the door closes on Lazor. He notices everyone else relaxing as well with the man gone. He doesn’t understand exactly what is it about Lazor that makes everyone so uncomfortable. Unless it’s because of Peter and Sti’s reaction to the man’s presence. Sighing, Sti comes back into the living room.

“I’m sorry, guys. He meant well. He’s not the most tactful person in the world.”

“I don’t like him.”

“I know, Tata. I understand why as well. But you realize it wasn’t 100% him, you know Deaton had a hand in what happened.”

“We can talk about this later, sweetheart.”

“Okay, Tata. Whatever you need.”

“You can explain to Derek only, sweetheart. Since I know he’s going to ask you.”

“Okay, Tata.”

Peter drags Chris off to a room, clearly needing a different kind of comfort from his mate to calm after whatever is wrong. Frowning slightly, Sti shakes his head at the fleeing duo before turning to look at the rest of the Pack.

“Are you guys okay if Derek and I go out back to talk for a bit before we make dinner or would you rather us do it after dinner?”

“After dinner, Mis. We’re hungry, or at least I am.”

“Okay, Jax. Come on, Der. Let’s cook for the Pups. We’ll talk after dinner, I promise.”

“Okay, Sti.”

He and Sti head into the kitchen to start dinner, but Sti just leans against him for a minute before they actually start cooking. Knowing they both need the comfort in their closeness, they take a few moments for themselves before they pull away, easily they start grabbing everything to start cooking. They cook with the same ease they always do and it’s relaxing as always, deciding to cook something that takes longer to give Peter and Chris some extra time together.

Honestly he loves cooking with Sti, it’s just about his favorite activity. It’s so calming and therapeutic for both of them. The tension always leaves both of them as they cook together, it’s still amazing how well they work together. The two of them just fit together well. He knows they still need time to heal before taking that step, but he thinks they could really work well together that way as well. Like he doesn’t expect perfection, but he does think they could be really good together.

He shakes those thoughts away for now and continues cooking with Sti. Taking their time cooking and enjoying the easy comfort of cooking together. They’re nearly done and Sti’s eyes flash, clearly calling Peter and Chris to come down. He feels a spike of annoyance in Peter’s bond and Sti’s eyes flash again, brighter this time. Peter’s bond flashes with acceptance this time and Sti just smirks.

The Alpha duo finish cooking and start plating the food. Jackson, Isaac, Danny and Boyd come into the kitchen to help them carry the food to the table, Sti must have called for them but he honestly has no idea. He and Sti hand them some of the plates that they’ve finished and continue plating. They come back after setting those plates down to take more plates for them, continuing to do so until they have all of the plates at the table

He and Sti sit at the head of the table, waiting for everyone to sit at the table. Even Allison gets there before Peter and Chris do. He can tell it frustrates his CoAlpha as Sti’s eyes flash brightly and Peter and Chris get to the table quickly afterwards. Sti smiles mischievously at Peter and Chris after they take their seats. Peter pouts at Sti and Chris smirks slightly, clearly finding the situation amusing as well.

“Do we want to do formal etiquette or just eat?”

“Just eat.”

The Alpha duo just nod easily in response, before they start eating. Everyone starts eating after they do despite not doing formal etiquette, just out of habit he assumes. They all finish fairly quickly and the second they’re done eating Peter starts to drag Chris away again.

“You’re in charge of cleaning up for a week now, Peter.”

“Fuck off, sweetheart.”

“Peter I will make good on my threat if you don’t stop being an insolent little shit.”

“Fine, sweetheart.”

“Good boy, Peter.”

“You’re the worst, sweetheart.”

In response Sti just laughs while everyone else looks at the Spark like he’s crazy. Sti just smirks back and selects who is in charge of cleaning tonight. Boyd, Erica, and Cora are the ones chosen so they collect the plates to take back into the kitchen.

“Are you guys okay with Derek and I going outside to talk now?”

The ones still at the table nod, so he and Sti head outside. He feels Sti place a silencing bubble around them, then pulls him down to sit with him. Sti leans into him and he relaxes against him as well.

“Are you going to explain what is going on between our uncles?”

“Lazor is the one that broke them up back in the day. He had sex with Chris and it exploded from there. Peter feels like he’s a challenge for his mates now, especially Chris. Despite the fact that Lazor is straight, happily married and has kids now. Deaton is the only reason it ever happened.”

“Oh wow. That does make sense. It’s such a hard situation for him, I couldn’t imagine.”

“Yeah, which is why I’m not pushing too far right now. Peter and I will have that conversation later and hopefully I can convince him to talk to AshLynn about it. Because he needs to handle that shit.”

“I think you need to deal with your stuff with your dad as well, Sti. Maybe you can lead by example with him and others in the Pack. Because you can’t just drag everyone like you did with me.”

“I will concede on that point because I know you’re right. I will talk to AshLynn. I will drag everyone if necessary though.”

“I do not doubt that you would, Sti.”

“Because you know I would not hesitate to, Der.”

“Will you tell me about what happened with Kali and your aunt?”

“Kali and Agata have some history , man. Everything from rivals to lovers. They are a whole complicated mess of bullshit tbh. They have nearly killed each other a few times. It’s all stupid and petty, but they have a lot of bad blood. Kali chose someone else as her Emissary and then had a relationship with them. Agata felt doubly snubbed by that because of their past and it snowballed from there.”

“That sounds like some high school bullshit, Sti.”

“Trust me it very much was. Though in an abstract sense I get it. It’s just so stupid from the outside of it.”

“Kali felt like you would hold that shit against her the same way as the Ennis thing?”

“Yeah, I can’t explain that. It makes sense to her I guess. But it’d be such a stupid thing for me to hold against her like that.”

“She’s ridiculous if she thought that you would hate her for that shit.”

“Eh. I think she’s mostly thinking about them nearly killing each other. But honestly neither of them ever really caused serious damage so I don’t really hold a grudge about any of it.”

“I guess.”

Sti chuckles and leans closer to him. Derek wonders if he should have him read what he wrote for Dr. Simons now. Or should he wait to show him?

“Sti, would you want to read the thing I needed to write for Dr. Simons now or not?”

“If you want me to read it, I can read it now, Der. Whatever you’re comfortable with. It’s all on your terms, Der.”

“I think I want you to read it now, if that is okay with you, Sti. So I don’t have it hanging over my head. I’d rather get it over with than keep waiting for it.”

“Okay, Der.”

Steeling himself as best he can, he takes the papers out of his jacket and hands them to Sti to read. He tries not to focus on Sti while he’s reading his history, he doesn't want to stress too much about it. Though he has no doubt Sti is only going to be supportive, it's hard not to worry that it’ll turn him away from him. He would absolutely hate that; that his darkness could turn Stiles against him.

Realizing what he’s doing, he shakes those thoughts away and focuses on Sti’s heartbeat. He needs to anchor himself in the moment so he doesn't get lost in the spiral of self doubt. Sti doesn’t need to deal with him losing it. He takes a deep breath and tries to pull himself together. Sti grabs his hand easily to anchor him and he relaxes against him.

He focuses on Sti’s hand on his and his heartbeat for the rest of the time Sti is reading his story. Anchoring himself fully into the moment, so he doesn't freak out. Sti finishes, hands the papers back to him before moving in front of him and laying a hand on his neck to make him look him in the eye. Trusting the Spark, he meets his eyes which flash at him to make a point.

“Derek Hale, I want you to know one thing, alright? You are a good man. Your history does not define the man you are today. You’ve been hurt, a lot, but you are not broken. You are not weak. You are a damn good man. You are a better Alpha than your mother ever was. You have a good heart. People have taken advantage of you, I know that, hell I’ve seen it for myself. And I’m so sorry for the things you’ve been through. But you are so goddamn strong for making it through everything that you have been through.

You have such a beautiful soul and your aura reflects that. You are not others actions, Derek Micheal Hale. You are a good man, a good Alpha, and a lovely person. I promise you that is the truth. You are not at fault for things others did. What Kate did was not your fault. What happened to Paige was not your fault. What Scott did was not your fault. None of that was your fault, I promise you that. I’m not saying this to comfort you, I’m merely stating facts. Blaming yourself is like blaming me for my mother’s death or even your family’s death.”

Melting easily into Sti, he merely nods, trying to hold himself together, but he’s failing before he can truly even try. Helpless to stop himself he starts to sob and Sti just pulls him close, letting him cry into his neck. Melting further into Sti’s embrace, he just sobs out all of the pain. The Spark holds him throughout all of it without hesitation, doing what is needed to be a pillar of strength for him right now and he just couldn’t be more grateful for it.

Stiles starts rocking them lightly while he tries to pull himself together, but he just can’t seem to pull himself together. Sti just continues to hold him through it, understanding this is something that needed to happen, and has needed to happen for a while now. It’s clear to him that he can’t keep bottling things up this way. So he just ride the wave of letting the pain out and Sti taking care of him throughout it.

Eventually he calms down, leaving him feeling lighter than ever before, while also feeling like he got run over by a truck, but overall he feels better than ever. Sti keeps holding him, running his hand through his hair. Unable to resist he ends up rumbling comfortably in reaction to the easy affection. He’d be embarrassed if Sti didn’t smell like anything other than satisfied, clearly pleased with himself.

Sti makes him feel safe in a way that he didn’t even know was possible. It’s so refreshing to not have to be the strong one all the time. With Sti he can let himself be weak if he needs to,  never asking for more than he can give him. It’s so nice to have someone like that in his life. He adores him so completely, feeling incredibly grateful for him. Sti cares so deeply for him, the whole Pack as well, which makes him feel so very loved.

Honestly he doesn't know where he would be without Sti, but he knows he wouldn’t be healing like this. Knowing his history he’d probably still be bottling everything up and likely wouldn’t have such a solid Pack beside him. Sti really brought out the best of all of them and helped them learn to work together. It’s amazing what he has done for them. Truly he’s so grateful to have him as a part of his life. The things he’s done for them is phenomenal. He couldn’t be more appreciative of him as a person. Derek absolutely is irrevocably in love with him.

Sti kisses his forehead and continues to run his hand through his hair. Neither of them has stopped the rocking motion, it shouldn’t be as good as it is, but it feels so nice to be taken care of like this. He hasn't been cared for this way before, even his dad didn’t do all of this despite being the Denmaker. Sti is such a comforting presence for him now, one he would be truly lost without. Honestly he thinks all of them would be. It’s really no wonder that he evolved if he so naturally acts the part of Alpha in his daily life the way he does.

“You’re right it is not time for us yet, but it will be eventually I promise you that, Der.”

“You heard me?”

“Not on purpose. I’m just pretty much constantly focused on you and how you're doing that sometimes my senses reach out for you without prompting. I don’t mean to, but it happens sometimes. I’m sorry. But I know you heard me at school so we’re pretty even.”

“Fair enough, Sti.”

“At least we both know we’re on the same page for when it is time.”

“That is true. Definitely good to know ahead of time where we stand. So when we’re in a place to be ready for that we know how both of us feel.”

Sti nods and just continues to comfort him how he has been. Easily he just basks in the love and affection for as long as he can. Enjoying Sti comforting him this way, he just breathes him in and soaks in the affection and safety being provided for him. The Spark handles him with such care while also not coddling him, riding the line between the two with expert precision. It’s a pretty incredible feat, which he is so impressed by and everything the other Alpha is capable of.

He fully pulls himself together, pulling away from Sti, smiling at the Alpha Spark who easily responds with one of his own. Despite knowing what the man is going to say he is going to thank him anyway. He just needs him to know that he really does appreciate all that he does for him. Even if he will repeat that he doesn't need to thank him. He just needs him to know how much he genuinely appreciates him. He does so much for all of them and he deserves some recognition for all that he does.

“Thank you for comforting me, Sti. Also thank you for all that you said and not turning away from me because of my past. It really means a lot to me. I was honestly pretty scared that you might think it was too much and would turn against me because of it. Though I know that it was mostly just my worries taking over instead of something I would ever really expect from you as a person.”

“You never need to thank me for anything, Der. I’m glad you were willing to share it with me despite your fears. I appreciate you showing me this. I’m glad to be allowed to see more of you. Thank you for trusting me with this despite your fears, Der.”

“There is no one I’d rather share this with. You are the one that I trust the most, Sti. I’m so grateful to have you in my life and on my side.”

“I’m grateful for you allowing me this close to you, Der. You are so much more than you know currently. I would be lost without you honestly.”

“I would be lost without you as well, Sti.”

“I guess we’re each other’s anchor for a reason, aren’t we?”

He just nods, chuckling lightly, Sti chuckles as well before shaking his head. Derek loves him for trying to lighten the mood. Though he’s unsurprised that he did it in such a dorky way. Because he is a dork, a cute dork, but still definitely a dork. He’s glad to know that Sti and he are on the same page though. That is definitely good to know for a fact.

Sti stays with him until he feels okay going back inside. He finishes pulling himself together and steeling himself for being around people other than Sti. He does really want to see his son, so it’s not as difficult as it could be. He stands and pulls Sti up with him, hugging him for a moment before they head inside to join the rest of the Pack.

He realizes everyone is in the basement again, so he drags Sti down to join them. There is space for them, but they clearly were outside for longer than he thought because everyone is asleep already. He carefully steals their son from Isaac so that he and Sti get Eli time. After that, the two of them lay in their spot and cuddle Eli in between them.

Malia registers Sti laying down in her sleep and curls against him. It’s honestly precious how attached Maila is to Sti already. It’s helping her settle into the Pack much easier. Since the others trust people Sti is close to much more than someone not connected to Sti.

Sti and Derek join the others in sleep fairly easily. He wakes up a few hours later from a nightmare. He shoots up and tries to calm himself. Sti immediately moves Eli and brings him to his chest, leading him to focus on his heartbeat, just breathing him in. He calm fairly quickly after that, but lays on his chest for a while just enjoying the closeness after the nightmare. Sti kisses his forehead lightly and he melts against him in response.

“Der, do you want to start the venison jerky and then cook breakfast with me to help you?”

“That sounds perfect, Sti. I appreciate you caring for me this way. It means more to me that you know, Sti.”

Sti nudges him to get up first, which he does, pulling Sti up with him, both easily heading upstairs. They set about cutting the meat that they're using for the jerky so they can put it in the dehydrator. It takes a lot less time working together than it would have alone. Soon they're putting the jerky into Sti’s dehydrator, which is very exciting for him, the chance to have venison jerky in his life again. He has missed doing this, but they couldn’t really do this in New York, not that Laura would have let him even if they could have.

Sti leans against him, clearly understanding what’s going on in his head, well maybe needing the comfort himself as well. Seemingly feeling the same sad nostalgia that he is feeling, since the Spark likely made this with his mother often. So it would only make sense that it would bring the same feelings forward that it does for him.

After a few moments basking in the comfort of each other, they pull away before Sti checks the time on his phone.

“I’m going to call Satomi to ask her if she knows any doctors that are in the know, so that I have that answer before Erica wakes up. Also maybe we’ll be lucky and be able to handle that today. So that we can start teaching her to drive.”

Easily he nods in understanding, so Sti calls Alpha Ito.

“Satomi, I have a question for you.”

“What is your question, Mischief?”

“Do you know any doctors that are in the know? One of our Betas had epilepsy before the bite, so without a doctor signing off on it she can’t learn to drive. A doctor not in the know would ask too many questions for it to be a viable solution.”

“One of my Betas is a doctor at the hospital, he could write off on her being able to drive.”

“That would be amazing. She really resents not being able to drive when everyone else has their license. I would really like to be able to give that to her.”

“We can start the process today. I’ll talk to my Beta and then he can see her today, likely. So that she gets the option of driving back on the table for her.”

“Thank you so much, Satomi. I appreciate your help with this. It would mean the world to her, being able to drive.”

“Of course, Mischief. I understand.”

“I’ll talk to you later to iron out the details.”

“Yes, I need to talk to my Beta and then we’ll figure the rest out later.”

“Okay, sounds like a plan, Satomi. Talk soon.”

“Talk to you later, Mischief.”

Sti gets off the phone, turning back towards him with an absolutely radiant smile spread across those cupid bow lips. Helpless to resist he smiles back widely, feeling on top of the world to have that smile directed his way.

Erica is going to be so excited when they get the chance to tell her the news.

His heart is beating double time, feeling so much seeing how hard Sti tries to take care of all of their Pups, succeeding a majority of the time. He’s just so glad that his future mate is so well connected and more than willing to exploit that for the Pack’s benefit when necessary.

“She’ll be ecstatic, Sti. Thank you for caring so well for our Pups.”

“You don’t need to thank me for anything, Der. Though you’re right. She will be so excited to have that opportunity given back to her.”

Nodding easily, he nudges Sti lightly, before pulling the Spark into a hug. Holding his love close, melting into the embrace, just soaking in the affection and closeness. They pull away and finally start cooking breakfast for the Pack. It’s calming and nice to be working together on something tangible for the Pack. He loves being able to provide for the Pack with Sti this way. Since undoubtedly he’s better at the physical aspects of providing for the Pack where Sti mostly thrives in the emotional and, honestly, probably protection side of things. They balance each other out well like that.

They finish cooking fairly quickly, after which Sti leaves momentarily to wake the Pack for breakfast, while he starts plating the food they made. Sti walks back up the stairs chuckling with the Pack lethargically following after him. Isaac is carrying a still asleep Eli, meaning they are going to wake him only after the food is on the table. Once the Pack is settled around the table, Sti comes to help him plate everything they made.

After they finish plating, they set about bringing everything to the table, which takes them a few trips between the kitchen and the table before all of the plates are on the table. Only once everyone is seated and all the food is on the table does Isaac wake Eli up so that he can eat. Eli looks around a moment confused before realizing he was carried while he was asleep.

While they are all eating, he can tell Sti is itching to tell Erica the news, though they both know to wait until she’s more awake. Once everyone is finished eating, Sti looks at Peter and Chris pointedly, leading both men to sigh before starting to collect the plates. Sti smirks at not even having to tell them to do it with words, that his look was all that it took. He shakes his head fondly at his future mate, smiling softly at him, who simply smiles back softly.

“Catwoman, I talked to Satomi.”

“Does she know a doctor?”

“One of her Betas is a doctor at the hospital and she is going to talk to them about you. We hopefully can start the process today. Though we won’t know for sure until I talk to her again later.”

“Oh my god, Batman. Thank you so much. I can’t believe you likely just got me back my ability to drive!”

“I will always do everything I can to help my Pups. It was important to you so it’s important to me as well. I’m hoping we can figure out the doctor's portion today and we can start teaching you how to drive soon.”

“You’re amazing, Batman.”

“You’re also amazing, Catwoman.”

“Mom, does that mean you’ll also teach me how to drive?”

“Of course, Is. I didn’t know you didn’t know how to drive as well. We’ll have to take both of you to get your permit next week as long as things go well today.”

“What about me, Stiles?”

“We have more things to handle when it comes to you, Malia. We have to get custody of you before we can do anything like that. We also have to get you declared alive.”

“Fair, I have been a coyote for a long time.”

“Yes you have. But when things are settled we’ll teach you how to drive as well. I wish we could just get custody of all of the underage Betas, but that’s not realistic with all of you. Only Isaac Boyd and Malia technically are options and we already have custody of one of them. The other two we’ll have to go through the process.”

“You might as well have custody of me, Mis.”

“David is a special circumstance though, Jax.”

“We all pretty much live with you, Batman.”

“That’s because you all have absent parents which doesn’t exactly help with the legal side of things.”

“Sti, you could have said that a different way.”

“Mischief is right, Derek. Even my mother has pretty much checked out. And I’m the one that pretty much had a mental breakdown not too long ago.”

“My parents don’t think I’m anything other than my diagnosis and when I’m not having seizures they don’t remember I exist.”

“We killed our family because they were very abusive to us and Kali essentially adopted us the same way you adopted Isaac.”

“Gods. Okay. I’m sorry you guys have to deal with that. But at least you have a caring Pack around you guys now. Sti and I will always be here for you guys when you need us.”

“We know you and Batman are here for us, Derek. And we appreciate it a lot. We’re a family now, a patchwork one, but still very much a family.”

“We are a family, there is no doubt about it.”

“There is even a mom and a dad.”

“Wait what?”

“Batman is the mom and you are clearly the dad, Derek.”

“I’m the dad?”

“Yes, Derek, you are the dad. You help Batman care for us and you care for us in your own way as well. You and Stiles balance the load of taking care of us together.”

“I didn’t realize. I didn’t even know you accepted me as a person. Since everyone pretty much chose me because Sti did.”

“We care about you too, Derek.”

“I didn’t know. I thought I was still just an extension of Sti to you all. I didn’t realize you guys cared about me as an individual yet.”

“We might still be more loyal to Sti, but we’re loyal to you as an individual person as well, Derek.”

“Thank you. You don’t know what that means to me. I was okay being an extension of Sti to you guys, but being seen as an individual as well is important to me.”

Sti grabs his hand to lend him strength, understanding how important that is to him. Taking a deep breath, he just basks in the Pack as best he can. Allowing himself to savor the moment, to feel all the feelings it brings forth in him, with Sti grounding him, hands clasped tightly.

“Our Pups care about you, Der. They accept you for you. Even when you’re a sourwolf.”

“I do care about each of you as well. As my Pups, but also as friends and family. I might not be the best at showing it, but I do genuinely care about you guys as well.”

“We know, dad. You handle caring for us a little differently than mom does, but that’s okay. We feel that you care about us without the gushy way that we feel moms love. Yours is more steadying and grounding. Mom’s is more about killing us with kindness and making sure we are emotionally stable.”

“Oh, Is. I’m glad you guys knew. I am bad at expressing myself, but I’m glad you guys could feel it anyway.”

“Derek, even I can see how much you care about the Pack and I just joined it.”

“Thank you, Danny.”

Danny simply shrugs in response, causing Sti to laugh softly. Breaking through the moment, Allison checks her phone before standing from the table. Sti raises an eyebrow at her to which she chuckles before explaining herself.

“My plane leaves in four hours, I have to get dad so we can go back to the house to grab my bags.”

“Do you want Peter to go with you guys to the airport and I come with you to your house?”

“That would actually be appreciated, Stiles. Peter will be good for dad and I honestly would feel safer with you around while we’re in town. Scott won’t try anything against you after how well you handled him last time.”

“Okay. I’ll drive behind you guys until you’re outside of town and Peter can go with you and Chris.”

“Thank you, Stiles. I appreciate your protection.”

“I just hope you come back stable and better than you were, Ally, I’d like to have you in my life again, but only once I’m sure you pose no threat to my Pups again.”

“I understand and respect that, Stiles. I appreciate you giving me the chance at all. I won’t waste the opportunity.”

“I hope you don’t, Ally. Come on, let's get Chris and Peter. Pups I’ll be back soon and I’ll call Satomi again when I get home.”

Sti gets up, walking with Allison to the kitchen, wherein Sti groans loudly and Allison gags.

“Peter Ian Hale! Not in my kitchen! Gross. I can’t believe either of you. You both are in so much trouble for this later.”

He and most of the Pups helplessly burst out laughing, understanding what just happened. Though Jackson ends up explaining to Lydia and Danny since they look confused, once aware the two join in on the laughter. Soon Sti is dragging Peter and Chris out of the kitchen by their ears seconds later which only ends up making them laugh even harder. Sti glares at them lightly while Allison looks a little scarred, walking behind them. Growling lightly, Sti shoves both of them out of the door, Allison and Sti following the men outside soon after.

“It’s kind of gross to realize they can act like teenagers, making out in the kitchen or even doing more by how scarred Allison looked.”

“Peter has always done what he wanted where he wanted it, I’m not even slightly surprised. Though Sti is going to punish both of them for doing that. The kitchen is fairly sacred for him, so they’re probably going to have to clean it top to bottom and likely more as well.”

“Mis is definitely pissed. That was his and his mom’s domain. It’s one of the few things they still had towards the end, cooking together. The kitchen was their safe haven even then. She would not forget Mis while in their kitchen, a magic all its own.”

“Peter is going to pay for that more than Chris is, since Peter would know that.”

“Which is why he scolded Peter more for it than Chris.”

“Oh goodness that’s going to be eventful. We are all going to hide when Peter and Chris get back right? So they can’t use any of us to get out of trouble with Sti.”

“Without a doubt. We could even hide in the cell area under the house if necessary. Peter and Chris wouldn’t know where we were, though Mis would.”

“Sounds like a plan. I don’t think we want to witness how angry Sti is going to get at them. Especially since Peter should have known better.”

“True enough. Mis is very protective over anything related to his mom. She was his everything even more than Peter, Lydia and I ever were.”

“He’s very protective of the things and people he holds dear so I’m sure he’ll be even protective over his memories with said people and things.”

“Can I ask something that probably none of you will be pleased with?”

“Sure, Danny. You’re Pack now. You’re allowed to ask any questions you may have.”

“Why are you letting Allison into the den when she did what she did to your Pups?”

“Sti wants to encourage her to be more like her father or Sti, not like her grandfather, mother or aunt. He loves Chris like a father and wants Allison to get better so that Chris feels more secure about being in the Pack. Also he and Lydia would like to have her back in their lives and likely even Jackson would as well.”

“Despite what she did to his Pups, he still cares about her like that?”

“You have to understand that Sti is always thinking about ways to keep the Pack the safest he possibly can. Encouraging Allison to improve, sending her to her great aunt to get reprogrammed and having her go to therapy with someone in the know would help keep the Pack safer. Having two of the future leaders of two of the oldest well respected hunting families in the Pack would do wonders for our future.

It’ll help us get better allies and even make alliances with people that Packs normally are unable to on their own. So he thinks the slight uncomfort we all feel having her in our den will be more than worth it when she comes back. She was willing to go on a full moon run with us unarmed because she trusts Sti. She’s already making progress and honestly I believe that Allison will come back more like Sti than anyone else. Because she now both respects and looks up to him.

She also now feels indebted to the Pack because we were willing to protect her despite what she has done to us and made sure she didn’t feel too left out at any point while she was staying with us. It’ll all add up to her wanting to have a healthy relationship with us instead of resenting us because we’re stealing her father or causing more friction between us. This way when she comes back she’ll be on our side instead of against us.”

“That is actually genius. No wonder he evolved and you asked him to CoAlpha. You guys balance each other out very well.”

“Thank you, Danny. Sti is incredibly helpful. We would be lost without him, that's for sure.”

“It’s good to see him acting as himself again. I might not have been as close with him back then as Jax and Lydia, but I didn’t like what Scott turned him into. Though he was more himself with me, when we were alone, it wasn’t enough for me to still be as close to him as I was before.”

“I don’t know if it will help knowing that he hated it as well. He still resents what he turned into during that time. He felt like he was shaming his mother the whole time.”

“I didn’t even think about the possibility that he hated it just as much as we did. That must have been awful for him. Especially with everything else he was dealing with that entire time.”

“It was definitely a lot for him, but he made it through it all. He’s got all of us now and he agreed to go back to Dr. Simons to deal with the stuff with his father and such. He is strong .”

“You’re in love with him, aren’t you?”

“Without a shadow of a doubt completely and irrevocably in love with Sti. Though it’s not time for us. We both need to heal more before we can have a healthy relationship, especially considering it wouldn’t only affect us but the Pack as a whole.”

“That does make sense considering both of your histories. You guys will happen in your own time. But I have no doubt that Stiles is in love with you as well.”

“We both know where we stand and that we’re both not ready for that step at this point, but eventually we will be.”

“I’m glad you both are aware of each other’s feelings, it’ll make the wait easier on both of you. It’s also good that you guys are giving yourself time before jumping into a relationship. That you both care about making sure it will be a healthy relationship for both of you. It’s a very mature approach to it. Not that I really expect anything different from either of you.”

“Thank you, Danny. That does mean a lot to me. It’s not just us that will suffer if we rush things, but the Pack as a whole. Neither of us want to do anything that will affect the Pack negatively. So even if it wasn’t better for the two of us, we wouldn’t do that to the rest of you.”

“It’s nice to know you both put us as a top priority. Not that we didn’t think you would as Alpha. But it’s still nice to hear it, dad.”

“Isaac, you guys mean the world to me. I lost two Packs already and I was so scared of losing a third. Sti fixed that for me, but I want to do everything to make sure the Pack is healthy and happy.”

“I didn’t even think about that. You did lose two Packs and it would change your perspective on it. We’re all glad to be a part of the Pack, most of us needed somewhere to belong. You and Mom gave us that and we couldn’t be more grateful. I have no idea where most of us would be without the two of you, but I’d probably be dead by now.”

“I couldn’t leave you in that situation, Isaac. That man was the monster, not us. He was a vile man and a terrible father. I’m glad I was able to help you get a family that would love and aid you. You deserve so much better than what that man did to you.”

“That really means a lot to me, dad. I appreciate you choosing me as one of your Betas. I’m honored to be in your Pack.”

“I’m honored to have you as one of my Betas, Isaac. You have improved so much from when I first met you. I’m glad to have the opportunity to watch you and the other Pups grow into both adults and your creatures. I’m so proud of each of your progress so far. I can’t wait to see where our Pack grows moving forward.”

Sti rushes into the house, startling all of them, drawing all attention to him.

“What’s wrong, Sti?”

“Are you okay taking Erica to the doctor without me? Satomi needs me. Something happened and I’m needed to help. Eli will be okay with the Pups and most of the Alphas. Also my grandfather is here, so you and Boyd can take Erica and everyone will be okay with Deuc and Grandfather.”

“That’s fine. Will you explain more later? And are you going alone?”

“I’ll take the twins and yes I’ll explain everything when I get back. Hopefully it won’t take too long. I promise that I will be safe, you do not need to worry.”

“Okay, Sti. I trust you to come back to us in one piece. Remember the Pups need both their mom and dad.”

“I know, Der. I’ll be safe, I promise. I love you all. I’ll be back soon. Come on, Ethan, Aiden, we gotta get on the road. Dr. Pierce is expecting Erica in 20 minutes. So you guys should probably get on the road as well.”

He nods and Sti drags the twins out to his car, causing him to sigh before turning towards Erica.

“Do you want Boyd to come with us?”

“Please?”

“Okay. We’ll be back soon. And Sti will be back soon as well. Take care of each other please. Let’s get going, Erica, Boyd.”

Erica and Boyd stand up when he does and they walk out to the Camaro. Easily the three of them get in before he drives towards the hospital. Sti didn’t tell them where exactly to go, but he knows that Mel probably would know so they can ask her.

“Do you think this will work the way we think this will or will it not fix anything?”

“I think it’ll work how we want it to, Erica. It’ll be okay. Sti wouldn’t do this if it wouldn’t fix things for you.”

“Are you sure?”

“Erica, trust Sti and I to take care of you. Everything will be okay. I’ll make sure of it and even if I’m not enough, Sti will move heaven and hell to help any of his Pups, you know that.”

“I do trust you guys, Derek. I’m just scared. I’m not used to getting things I want.”

“I understand, trust me, I understand more than I’d like. I still think that the Pack is an elaborate dream at times. But that is no longer any of the Pack’s life, we’ll all do everything we can to make sure everyone gets what they want.”

“Okay, Derek. I appreciate you. We don’t tell you that enough. You’ve given us so much already and we haven’t really expressed how grateful we all are for it. Because without you Batman wouldn’t even have had the chance to bring us closer together.”

“I promise you guys have given the same amount to me that I have given to you. I’m so much more stable with a real Pack around me again. It’s like I’ve been given a second chance and without you guys accepting me I’d not have that.”

“I’m glad we have helped you as well, Derek. We really are a family and work well together. I’m so glad to be a part of it.”

“I’m glad to have all of you guys as a part of it. We really have become a family. Better yet, it’s actually a healthy family.”

Parking in the parking lot, they head inside the hospital. Luckily Melissa sees them when they walk in, smiling at them before waving the group over to her. Which they do without hesitation, comfortable with Mel.

“You’re here to see Dr. Pierce, right? Give me a second and I’ll take you to him. I just have to tell the other nurse I need to take you guys to see Dr. Pierce.”

He just nods in response, leading her to head over to the other nurse.

“Lynn, I’ll be back in a few minutes. I have to take them to Dr. Pierce. You’ll be okay alone for a few right?”

“No worries, Mel. I’ll be okay on my own for a bit. They clearly trust you, so it makes sense for you to take them.”

“Thanks, Lynn. I’ll be back soon. Page me if you need me back quicker.”

Lynn laughs and lightly shoves Mel back towards them, who just shakes her head, chuckling before heading back towards them. Mel smiles brightly at them and starts to lead them to the elevators. They follow behind her easily and when they’re in the elevator she presses the button for the third floor. Mel hugs Erica tightly the second the doors close.

“It might not mean much coming from me, but I promise it will go how you want it to. Everything will be okay. Stiles already talked to Dr. Pierce to make sure it would go smoothly, and he clearly talked to me as well so that you had another person on your side.”

“Thank you, Mel. I appreciate you caring about us. It’s always nice to have more people in our corner.”

Mel kisses Erica’s forehead before pulling away. She smiles brightly at all of them and leads them to a room when the doors open. She takes point introducing them to Dr. Pierce so that it’s not against protocol for the Alpha of Pack to be approaching a Beta of another Pack.

“Dr. Pierce, this is Erica, Boyd and Alpha Hale. Erica is your patient and both her Alpha and one of the Pack’s Right Hands are here to support her. Do you want me to stay in the room or are you okay with me going back to my post?”

“Thank you for the introduction, Mel. I’m okay with you leaving. Satomi told me that I can trust them, so I have no doubt that it will be okay without an outside witness.”

Mel nods, walking out of the room, leaving Erica more nervous than she was with Mel there, which is honestly surprising to him. But it might be the fact that she is now the only woman in a room with three men or maybe just Mel’s motherly presence being suddenly absent.

“Are you okay with me calling you by your first name, Beta Reyes?”

“Yes, Dr. Pierce, I’m okay with you calling me by my first name.”

“Well, Erica, do you mind telling me what exactly you are looking for? Both Heir Gajos and Satomi gave me information, but I’d rather hear it from you. It’s just the professional way to handle it, you know?”

“I would like to be able to learn how to drive, but because before I got the bite I had epilepsy I am unable to. I need a doctor to write off on it being safe for me to drive, only a doctor in the know would understand that it is safe for me to drive without too many questions.”

“Understood. How long have you been a wolf? And you haven’t had a seizure since?”

“I’ve been a wolf for around nine months, I think. I have only had one and it was because of Kanima venom and I clearly had a bad reaction to it. Outside of that one occasion I haven’t had a seizure since getting the bite, which considering how my epilepsy was before I’m sure it’ll only happen in those freak situations.”

“Good to know. I ask because there are a small number of people who get the bite that do keep their epilepsy. It’s fairly rare and mostly seen with older individuals, but I just wanted to make sure that wasn’t the case with you.”

“There was a chance the bite wouldn’t have fixed my epilepsy?”

“I’ve only seen it happen once and Satomi had only heard of it happening a few other times throughout history. Most people don’t know that it’s a possibility. It’s a very rare phenomenon that the bite doesn’t cure it and only lessens it.”

“Oh. I’m glad I wasn’t one of the unlucky ones.”

Dr. Pierce nods and starts filling out paperwork for Erica. Erica leans against him easily, letting him know she’s not angry with him for being unaware of the possibility. Boyd wraps his arm around Erica who melts against the larger wolf.

Oh my gods. How did he really not understand what Sti meant about them until right now? They’re mates, or well at least are going to be, since it’s a mixture of fate and choice, mates aren’t always the first potential, but sometimes they are. You pretty much get to choose which of your potential mates, so that’s how it’s both fate and choice.

He shakes that thought away and focuses back on Erica. She needs him to be present with her, not lost in his own thoughts. This is really hard for her and he just wishes Sti was here, since he’d be able to calm her in a way that he and even Boyd just can’t. Dr. Pierce hands Erica the paperwork he was working on, an understanding smile across the doctor's lips, clearly trying to soothe the young woman.

“That should be enough for them to approve you, if it isn’t, have them contact me directly. I will do everything in my power to make sure they approve of you. And if not, I’m sure Heir Gajos has other ideas, if necessary.”

“Thank you, Dr. Pierce. I appreciate your help immensely. I’m sure this will reflect well on your Pack with Heir Gajos, as you call him.”

“Satomi favors him, so I wouldn’t have really had a choice. But I understand you and why being able to drive is so important to you. So I will do everything in my power to aid you in this endeavor.”

“He does have a way of gaining people’s loyalty. Thank you for your help regardless of your reasoning. I appreciate the help you are giving me.”

“He’s a good man, there is no doubt. Of course, it’s my pleasure to aid you. Our Packs are allies, we need to help each other when it’s necessary.”

“He truly is, but he’s no pushover either. He’s a force to be reckoned with. That’s good to know, Dr. Pierce. We’ll be on our way. Thank you again for your help.”

Dr. Pierce nods and Erica leads them back to the elevators. They're silent throughout the rest of their trip out of the hospital. The second they are back in the Camaro, Erica hands him the paperwork and breaks down. He can feel how overwhelmed she is, so he knows it’s not from sadness, but just from being so overwhelmed. He lays a hand on the back of her neck, lightly squeezing hoping to comfort her. She pulls herself back together after a few minutes and nods to him in thanks.

He hands Boyd the paperwork and begins driving home. Erica cleans her face and steels her spine. Her and Lydia are far too good at that, though not quite as good as Sti can be. Soon they’re home and he parks in front of the house. They all get out and head inside, wanting to check on the rest of the Pack that they can, currently. Tensing he realizes something is very wrong the second they’re fully inside the house.

“What’s going on?”

“Eli and Malia ran when we felt a sharp spike of pain in Mis’ bond. We can’t find them, they’re hiding. We know they’re safe and together, but that’s all we know.”

“I’m pretty sure I know where Eli would go, who left first?”

“Eli ran and Malia followed him.”

“Okay. I’ll go see if I’m right. I’ll text you if I find them, but I think it’s better if I approach them alone. Since they ran cause they’re worried and clearly aren’t comfortable being with too many people while feeling that way. I have the best shot of being safe to approach them.”

Everyone nods, so he easily heads to the backyard, going to the secret entrance to Sti’s cellar area, heading inside. He can already tell he was right, since he hears their heartbeats which he follows their heartbeats to them, finding them curled together, crying. Knowing that they need time and space he sits down quietly by them, letting them know he’s here without disturbing them too much.

He texts the Pack I found them and they are safe.

Eli and Malia slowly scoot closer to him, seeking comfort from their other Alpha while they’re worried for their main Alpha. He loves how well Eli has adapted to wolf mannerisms or at least Pack mentality. They calm down after a while and he just supports them through it all.

“Daddy, mommy was in pain.”

“I know, sweetheart. He’ll be okay. He promised that he would be and he is not one to break his promises.”

“You’re sure?”

“Of course. Sti has been through a lot, but he is well trained and will make it through everything possible. He would never leave you guys willingly, you know that.”

“Okay.”

“He’ll be okay and soon you will see for yourself. I’m sure of it. He’s stronger than you could ever imagine.”

Malia and Eli just curl closer to him in response. They sit there in silence until he gets a text. He pulled his phone back out to check who it is.

Sti texts we’re home. Where are you, Eli and Malia? The Pack said Eli and Malia ran away and you wanted to approach them alone.

He responds back we’re in your secret cellar. They panicked when there was a spike of pain in your bond. Eli ran first and Malia followed him, so I didn’t want too many people with them while they were freaking out.

Sti texts back, good point. I’ll be down in a minute. The Pack aren’t ready for me to leave them yet, they were also worried.

He responds back, no worries. We’re just all cuddling down here. I’m not going to tell them yet, so they don’t get impatient.

Sti texts, understandable. I’ll head down there as soon as I can. I’m safe though, so you don’t need to worry.

He respond back, I didn’t doubt that you would be okay. I know you too well for that. There would have been panic if you were in too much danger for you to handle, but there was only pain.

Putting his phone back in his pocket, he focuses back on Eli and Malia. They’re barely paying attention to anything other than their own thoughts. He can tell by the looks on their faces that his words were not enough for them to stop worrying. So clearly they will only fully calm down when they can see Sti with their own eyes. Unsurprisingly, he hopes Sti can get away from the Pack soon, since he doesn't want them worrying too much unnecessarily.

Unsure how it’s possible, but undoubtedly aware, he feels when the door opens. Worryingly, uncomfortably, he can not hear anything or smell anything. That’s strange and he’s not sure he likes that. Though once Sti gets through the cell area and into the room they’re in he can hear and smell him, so it must be something about the cell area. However then it’s strange that he was able to hear their heartbeats when he was in the cell area.

Shaking that thought away for now, he looks Sti over once he’s fully visible. Part of himself that he was refusing to acknowledge relaxes the slight tension he had from worrying about his almost mate, seeing that the man is okay with his own eyes. Lightly nudging Eli and Malia so they look up,  both springing up the second they catch sight of Sti and pounce at him. Sti handles it with grace, understanding that they were scared and worried about him.

He stands up and walks slowly over to them. Sti smiles at him over their heads and he smiles easily back at him. Malia and Eli let Sti go and look him over to make sure he’s not injured. Which is kind of ridiculous that they checked after they pounced on him the way they did. But they were thinking more about the relief that he was here safe and sound. Affectionately, Sti kisses both of their foreheads and he helplessly smiles at the action.

“I’m okay, guys. I promised I would be okay and I meant it. I got a little hurt, but it's already healed, nothing to worry about.”

Malia and Eli just wrap themselves back around Sti who looks at him over their head. Sti rolls his eyes good naturedly, understanding that they need the comfort, but finding the doubt in him slightly silly. Unable to stop himself, he smiles lovingly at him, nodding his head in agreement, joining in the hug because he can’t resist. After a few minutes they can feel the way that Malia and Eli calm down, finally. So Sti pulls out of the hug slightly and looks at the two of them.

“Are you guys okay heading back inside? The Pack were really worried about the two of you when you ran out on them. Even though Derek told them he found you safe and sound.”

“Yeah, we’re okay to go back now. I’m sorry, mommy. It was just too much being around everyone when we were scared.”

“It’s okay, sweetheart. I understand and so do they. They’re just worried about you the same way all of you were worried about me.”

“Even me?”

“Of course, Malia. You are Pack. There is no question.”

“I wasn’t sure.”

“Well you are Pack and we all care about you, Malia.”

“I appreciate that.”

“We’re family, Malia.”

Sti pulls out of the hug fully and they all head back to the backyard. Once they’re in the backyard, they take a breath before heading back into the house, aware how things are bound to go once they’re inside once more. The Pack swarms them quickly after, proving them correct in their assumptions. All of them stay in the huddle for a long while before Sti removes himself and Derek from the huddle.

“We’re going to cook dinner. I also need to inform him about what happened. So for a few minutes we’ll be under a silencing bubble, but I’ll remove it before we start cooking.”

Everyone nods, so Sti drags him into the kitchen. He feels the silencing bubble and shivers slightly at how well he can feel the magic rolling off of the Spark in waves when he uses his magic so close to him. It feels very nice and honestly is also more than a little arousing. Embarrassed, he shakes that thought away as best he can, but clearly not quickly enough given the fact that Sti smirks at him.

“Competence or power kink? Interesting. Though not all that surprising.”

“Shut up. Tell me what happened, please. Also I’m very glad you came home to me safely, I mean us.”

“It’s okay to be grateful for me coming home to you safely. It doesn’t always have to be about the Pack. It doesn’t make you a bad Alpha.”

“Okay, Sti. Now stop avoiding the question. What happened?”

“Agata bit off more than she could chew. She tried to solo take on a threat that was too strong for her given that she’s been weaker since leaving the family. Since she lost access to a lot of the family magics, I had to rush to take care of the threat and heal her afterwards so she didn’t die. She never should have tried to solo it, but she’s always been overconfident. Which is why I wasn’t even willing to solo it, despite being so much stronger than her. I don’t want to get cocky and mess up severely. So I brought the twins with me, just in case.”

“What was it? The threat.”

“A sorcerer that was into Darach level magics and an uncomfortably strong one at that.”

“Which is how you were hurt?”

“Yeah he caught me by surprise slightly and got a spell to connect.”

“Okay. I’m glad you were able to save Agata and deal with the threat safely. Even with getting hit.”

“Thank you, Der. I’m glad as well. How did the doctor’s appointment go for Erica?”

“He filled out the paperwork for her and told her to have them contact him directly if they don’t approve her even with his note.”

“Good. I trust that he will get them to approve her. If not, I have ways to handle it if it becomes necessary.”

“Dr. Pierce said that as well, that in the worst case you likely had other plans if it became necessary.”

Sti nods and removes the silencing bubble, before motioning that they should start cooking. Which of course they do exactly that, collecting everything that they need to make dinner for their Pack. Getting lost in the comfort and ease between them in these moments, savoring every second of this after the stress of the past day. There is just something about cooking together that calms them in a way not much else could.

Always leaving them feeling connected in a deeper way in these moments, there is just something about the domesticity of cooking together that just leaves them connected in a way nothing else is capable of. At least nothing that they have found yet, not that they are exactly searching for it. It’s just something that feels like a fact of life at this point, that they are their most connected while cooking together for their Pups.

Almost as if they planned it, they finish cooking pretty much right as Peter and Chris make it back home from dropping Allison off at the airport. Sti calls them into the kitchen, leading both men to walk in cautiously, aware of the fact that they are in trouble for what happened earlier. Crossing his arms, Sti glares at the two of them, causing them to wilt under the intensity of his glare. Sti throws up a silencing bubble and Peter and Chris’ eyes widen, knowing they’re truly fucked.

“You had the nerve to ruin the sanctuary that is my kitchen with what you two chose to do in here earlier. So you are not only in charge of cleaning it top to bottom, but also all of the dishes for at least two months. Though that’s only to do with the kitchen. You are also in charge of teaching Isaac and Erica to drive in the beginning, with your own cars. Isaac goes with Chris and Peter, you get Erica. You upset either of my Pups during that and I will make you imponent for three months. If you ever do something in my kitchen again I will make you imponent for a full year, do you understand me?”

“I’m sorry, sweetheart. I’ll accept the punishment and won’t do it again. I didn’t think about what the kitchen meant to you before doing it.”

“Whatever you say, Peter. Now the two of you take the plates out as we finish them. You also are in charge of doing that whenever we ask you to without any talking back or your punishment will get worse.”

He and Sti turn their attention back to the food after both of the men nod and Sti removes the silencing bubble. Leaving the wolf and hunter to their thoughts, while the Alpha Pair focus on plating dinner, trying to ignore the genuine upsets of the day. Hoping that a Pack dinner will be exactly what they need after the eventful day that they’ve had. If he’s being honest with himself, he knows that it’s not likely to be enough for either him or Sti, but he holds out hope anyway.

Standing back from the counter now covered in plates, they allow the two elders to start the process of taking the plates out to their hungry Pack. Locking eyes with Sti, tells him that he’s not alone in doubting that this will be enough for them after the stress of the day. Hopefully while it’s not enough for them, it’ll be good enough for their Pups, especially Malia and Eli with how stressed the duo was earlier.

Once the table is set, the duo leave their little bubble of affection and safety, sitting at the head of the table like they’re meant to. Easily the Pack falls into their typical dinner, all of them lost in thought in a way that they aren’t normally. It doesn’t take all that long for them to finish eating, one after another until all of them are finished. Most of the Pack leaves, exhaustion clear in the way they slink off to the basement.

“Enjoy clean up duty, Peter, Chris, you’re going to need to get used to it for a while.”

“We understand, sweetheart, do you want us to clean the entire kitchen tonight?”

“As much as I want to be petty and say yes, I won’t do that, the Pack needs time together after the stress of the day, so not tonight. You guys can start after breakfast tomorrow, but no later than that. I’m really angry with both of you for this, but I won’t punish the whole Pack for your actions.”

The couple nods easily, before proceeding to collect the plates from dinner, carrying them into the kitchen to wash. Pulling Sti into a hug is as easy as breathing, knowing that this is something they both want and need at the moment. Physical closeness after everything that happened today brings them comfort, which they both easily soak in. Burying his nose in Sti’s neck, he just calmly takes a moment to breathe his future mate in, scenting him afterwards.

Both of them decide to wait for the couple to finish cleaning up before heading to join the Pack, without discussing it, just aware that is what they want to do. Wrapped together like it’s the only thing that matters to them, which isn’t all that false, with how stressed they’ve been today, the closeness is the best way for them to feel okay again. A surprisingly small part of him is shocked that he’s gotten this comfortable with touch in such a small amount of time, but most of him accepts that there is just something about Stiles that has made the acclimation so much easier than it could have been otherwise.

Peter and Chris don’t even pretend to be surprised to find them waiting for them wrapped around each other this way, clearly accepting that this is probably going to be the new normal for them all. The four of them head down to the basement where the rest of the Pack is waiting as a unit, despite the resentments Sti still clearly feels about the couple’s actions earlier. Finding the rest of the Pack asleep is not surprising, it’s honestly what he was expecting. Peter and Chris lay down, leaving the two of them standing over the Pack, watching over them for the moment. But soon they accept that they must go to bed, so they steal Eli, before laying down.

“I’m proud of you for tonight, Der. Last night as well.”

Embarrassingly choked up, he merely scents Sti, not able to even consider saying anything in response. Feeling raw and vulnerable in the face of the sincerity in Sti’s voice, not expecting it even slightly, though he probably should have. Taking a deep breath, he settles closer to Sti, allowing himself to seek out the easy affection, trusting Sti not to turn him away. Happily settling into the bed, soaking in the closeness of the Pack, though mostly Sti and Eli.

There is an overwhelming sense of fondness rolling off of Sti and part of him wants to roll around in its warmth. Instead of something as embarrassing as that, he allows himself to sink in just a little bit closer to his love and son. Melting into them, before finally losing his battle with consciousness. Falling into a warm and easy sleep, surrounded with love in a way that he never thought he’d be lucky enough to have.
