Chapter Text
« But I don’t wanna be a hero.»
Oriona’s words echoed across the room. Even the parents who were sitting in the next room were silent. Gurin, moving away from the shock, said:
— B... but the six of us were going to go to UA. What about the plans with the «Almighty Squad»? How are we without you?
Ori straightened her hair and said,
— Gurin, think about it. How can I be a hero?
— But there is a disease that causes the quirk to manifest itself later. Mister Midoriya was ill with it, — Melody broke into her friends' conversation.
Oriona turned abruptly to Melody and asked:
— And what do I have to do with Mr Midoria? If I had this disease, at least feathers would grow instead of hair. What do you see, huh? Smooth, regular hair.
— With quirk or without it you are a wonderful person. — — Elizabeth took her friend’s hand.
— I’m well aware of that, — said Ori. The girl got up from her seat and went to the wall to be more visible. — Listen. You all have wonderful quirks. What I’m talking about, each of you has TWO quirks. Except for Lizzie... she got three. But I’m not worried about not having one. I perform in the theater. I volunteer at an orphanage for children whose parents have abandoned them because they don’t have quirks, I have wonderful family. I’m happy. Plus, I got into a school at a university that t study the quirks of body modification. It opens a new program for children whose bodies were supposed to change from a quirk, but because of her lack, metamorphosis this did not happen. I’m perfect for this program... hey... you’re gonna be wonderful heroes and you’re will save people every day. You’re gonna be the heroes of the world... and I’m... huh... I’m a hero to myself.
— Girls! Come here, please. — Tsuyu’s voice was heard outside the door.
The company went into the living room where their parents were sitting, only Oriona’s parents were standing. Ori asked:
— Mom, Dad, what happened to your faces?
Tsuyu sighed and answered the question with the question:
— Ori, birdie, remember what I told you about our trip to Japan?
Ori played the conversation with Mom at the day they left home.
— You said we’d stay in Japan until you finish your work. But It's only a matter of weeks, right? Soon in France school year begins.
Her parents looked at each other.
— The thing is... continued Tsuyu.
— We’re not going back to France. — her husband interrupted.
It was as if a shock had passed through Oriona’s body. She looked angrily at Melody, who was rushing her earphone jack out of Oris’ neck. After receiving a slap on the back of her head from Pinky, Melody fell silent. Ori asked her parents:
— What do you mean, « not go back»? Okay, well, you can have things to do here, but I have to make it to the first of September to a new school. I... If it's necessary, I can live alone!
Tsu sighed:
— No, you don’t understand. We’re not just not going back to Paris. We’re moving back to Japan FOREVER.
The second electric shock went through the body of Oriona. But Melody immediately said: «It’s not me!!!». Ori, holding back her tears, asked:
— Could you have told me earlier? Mom, what about the new school? You were so happy for me when the exam results came.
— Oriona, my princess — mother took her daughters’ hand and straighten a strand of her hair. — We have only just found out about it. Terrible things happen in Japan, and they require your father and I to be here! Just like the rest of our classmates. I’m sorry I didn’t tell you sooner.
The tears were just dripping out of Oriona’s eyes, but she wiped them down quickly with her sleeve. Inhaling and exhaling, she said:
— Well. There’s a branch of that university. I think I’ll be allowed to transfer from French to Japanese.
— It’s impossible! — Tokoyami said sharply.
— Quoi? — Ori looked at him.
Father and daughter looked into each other’s eyes. He said:
— You can’t go to that school because you six are already enrolled in UA.
Mirou took off the
invisibility and began waving her tail, saying, «Wait, what?» And the five of them began to jump and hug with happiness.
— Stop cheering up. You’re just enrolled in the entrance exam. You will still have to pass it in order to enter the hero class — Tokoyami added.
Ori went up to her father, snapped her fingers a couple of times in front of his eyes to make him notice her.
— Yeah, it’s cute, but there’s a snag — Ori pointed her shadow with both hands and pointed at her after every word. — It’s! Not! ALIVE!!!
— Dad. I appreciate your concern — she got up and coughed, and she went on — You gave me a chance to go to the most prestigious academy in the country, wow. But I don’t need it. I mean, I’m useful at things that don’t need a quirk. Even if I go to an exam, I fail it. Maybe I should go to that school? At least I will study there 100%!
— You’ll go to UA because there you’ll be protected by professional heroes. The academy building is like a fortress. So you’ll all be safe, — said Tokoyami. After hearing his daughter, he put his hand on her shoulder.
Ori threw away his hand and asked:
— What should I be protected from? «All for one» awoke or what?
— You already told her? — Kaminari suddenly jumped from his seat, Kyoka had to put him down.
Midoria had a look with his wife:
— We agreed to tell them when everything would be known!
—We didn’t say anything to her, — said Tsuyu to Deku.
— Mom, what are Mr Midoria and Mr Kaminari saying?
All the parents looked at each other, and Mina said:
— Come on, guys, it’s now or never.
Tsuyu and Tokoyami sat on the sofa, where they sat before the children were called.
—The League of Villains has returned, — said Todoroki.
Melody sent out a mild electric shock that hit everyone in the room. Mirou went into invisible mode, Pinky’s skin got harden, Elizabeth’s hair began to burn, and Gurín hiccupped, her skin covered with red lines (like Izuku’s during the use of the quirk) and began to slowly fly to the ceiling. Looking at her friends from the outside, Oriona added:
— It’s the only good thing about not having a quirk. Emotions don’t make you crazy. — When everyone calms down, parents begin to explain.
— About a month ago, a case was registered in the hospital. The man has lost the Psychic Quirk. If it were physical, you could write it off as an injury. But no. That man could accelerate the growth of plants — said Momo.
— But if it were an isolated case. A week later, three more people were admitted to the hospital with lost quirks — continued on Kirishima.
Toru said:
— It was the same thing 25 years ago, when... — she fell silent.
Mashirao went on for his wife:
— When the League led by All for One was gaining strength.
— We all received confirmation this morning from the Academy Director. 'Our entire class must return to Musutafu to root out the League again, — said Jiro.
— But we do not know how long this «hunt» will last. Then we were children, and though now we are stronger, but the League too! And yet... They can hurt you. That is why you must study in UA! It is the safest place in the world. You will be cared for there and you will become beautiful heroes... And you are no exception, little Ori — Uraraka finished speech.
The girls began to say that they will pass the entrance exam and become great heroes, and then raised their hands in the sign of the Academy and said: «PLUS ULTRA». Having laughed enough, Gurin asked:
— Hey. Where’s Oriona?
While the others were cheering, Ori managed to put on her cloak and tiptoe her way out. Tokoyami sent the Shadow to the door, blocking Oriona’s path.
Are you going somewhere, princess? — Tokoyami asked snidely.
Recoiling, Ori shouted:
— SHADOW! TRAITOR!
'You don’t command me,' said Shadow to her, and he vanished.
— Okay. I’ll take your exam. BUT IF I DIE THERE, YOU BURY ME IN PARIS! But what should I do for six months? The new school year in Japan will begin only in April. — said Oriona, taking off her cloak.
— Don’t worry about that. You
go to school for six months, where the other girls go. I already made a deal with the headmaster there. And also, in Japan, school uniforms are required, it is already in your room. Along with my old UA uniform to try. I wonder, fit? — calmed her daughter Tsu.
Gurin applied anti—gravity to Ori, and the girls were taken to the second floor of their friend’s room.
