Chapter Text
6:17 am
The alarm wakes up Jinsoul who, not happy, throws the object to the other side of the room. Who uses an alarm clock these days?
Her body gets up from the bed and she sits on the bed, looking at her window for a few minutes, thinking about whether to take another week off or not. After a lot of thinking and almost going back to bed, she decided to get up and start the day, she needed to be in the company for her big return after a year away after Misun's death. Since then, a lot has changed.
Jinsoul started drinking again, not to the point of it being something serious and an addiction, but her late wife forbade her to drink even at business dinners, She never liked this prohibition but she didn't want to cause more disagreements in the relationship so she just went along with it. She also returned to playing guitar as a hobby. She made good use of this year off, using the time to investigate her wife's death, something that the police abandoned shortly after the death cause was declared as "possible suicide", but that wasn't right, not even the body could be seen by her, there must have been marks and something that... they didn't want Jinsoul to see.
She had no choice but to give up on discovering the truth at a certain point, she was stagnant and nothing in her life was working, She left the company in Haseul's care and it was doing well and everything, but it was her career and her dream and she couldn't leave them behind, not anymore. And for what it's worth, she missed the routine, her group friends, her favorite coffee shop, the games, little jokes and even listening to Vivi's harmful gossips.
"Well, let's do it" Jinsoul said to herself after running her hand over her clothes once again, wanting them to be perfect before leaving the house. Took the elevator down from the penthouse to the garage and her driver was already ready to take Jinsoul to Modernis. Without exchanging a word with the employee, Jinsoul gets into the car and starts scrolling down her phone to check the news, the real estate market was booming, that was good, they would have to use the opportunity to boost sales.
The trip to the building was long, even with everyone in a hurry, that city was still, welcome to New York. She laughed at her own thought and before the man entered the company's garage, the young woman made him stop the car.
"I have something to do first, you can go in" She said, opening the car door and getting out, not caring about the curious looks of those who had already seen the woman on TV or in magazines, Yes, she was a little bit famous. She ran to one of her favorite places, which luckily was across the street from Modernis, the famous Sweet Love, the best cafe in the city, with the best music selections and also, employees. Jinsoul entered the place, closed her eyes, took a deep breath, smelling the cozy atmosphere that the place had, smiling to herself and probably looking like an idiot, she was standing in the middle of the coffee shop, without.moving. With that last thought in mind, she went to the counter and waited until it was her turn to order. Normally her assistant would do this but she was here for another cause...or rather, someone.
Sooyoung. Ha Sooyoung, the owner of the cafe. She was possibly the sweetest person to ever come into Jinsoul's life and also, who Jinsoul managed to push away with all her cold armor, Since she left on her little break, she never visited the place again and didn't even make an effort to respond to all the contact attempts she received from the younger girl. But the truth is... Jinsoul worried about her, just as she worried about those close to her and It was common knowledge that she feared that what her wife had suffered was an attack, so, she was also afraid that she could lose more people and...
"Soul? My God, you're really back!" a person pulled her into a hug and before she could recognize the face, she recognized the voice and smiled, it was Sooyoung and... luckily she didn't hate Jinsoul.
“Sooyoung, how long!” She smiled kindly and tried her best not to show how excited she was to see a familiar face without being her family again. "How are you? I know it's been a long time since I responded, I'm sorry about that" She briefly remembers the subject of not responding to Sooyoung's messages and all she sees is the woman shaking her head in a "no" way.
"Don't worry, I can't imagine how difficult it is for you to get over the loss of Misun, don't ever apologize for that" Sooyoung said with a sad smile, touched by what she thought Jinsoul was going through. "Come, I'll make your favorite coffee, on the house so you can come back more often" Sooyoung guides Jinsoul to the quieter area of the counter, where she begins to prepare Jinsoul's favorite drink, who admires everything attentively, feeling her happiness returning slowly.
"I see you made some changes to the decor, it looks even more lovely now" Jinsoul praised, looking around and stopping when she felt a small movement in front of her, it was Sooyoung placing the cold coffee on the counter.
"Did you like it? It was Chaewon's idea, sometimes when she's not playing some trash shooting games, she's a really good sister" Sooyoung laughed and Jinsoul could have sworn that smile had been for only her in other lives.
Only in this way would it be possible to explain how much Sooyoung messes with Jinsoul since the very first time they met and how she fails to overcome these feelings.
To be continued...
